Darcy Sweet loves the Christmas season with its snow and Christmas trees and colorful decorations. She also loves the Christmas pageant that her town puts on every year. However this year things don't go as smoothly as hoped when an unexpected visitor shows up: The ghost of a murdered man who was a former pageant Santa. The ghost needs Darcy to find out who his killer is so he may finally rest in peace.
However, things are complicated further when there is an attempt on Darcy and her boyfriend's life, while he is wearing the ghost's Santa costume. Will they find the ghost's killer in time when every attempt Darcy makes is being impeded by forces unknown? Will they make it to Christmas in one piece or will the Santa suit claim another victim?
I liked this Christmas Cosy Mystery, it was really enjoyable. Excited for Jon and Darcy, and also since Jon has seen what he has seen, excited to see where that goes. Also, I want more Smudge.
Well, this was a really fun book. We get to see why Darcy is so reluctant to let Jon move in with her and it has everything to do with her powers. Jon is reluctant to accept her powers like so many people would be in this world. We get to see them work it out throughout the book and they even have a fight that makes them seem like a relatable couple.
The mystery, once again, was a cold case that was brought to Darcy by her visions. Similar to the last books, there were no murders in the present day, and they were looking into something that happened years back. This makes a lot more sense for a small town, as in other series there is a murder nearly every other week which doesn't make a lot of sense in the real world. However, like most people know that even small towns have their skeletons and Darcy is cleaning out the closet.
We got to see an expansion in the town this books, thanks to the Christmas pageant and looking into the past once again. Also, we get to see more of Grace in this book and her thoughts on Jon and Darcy's relationship. This gives a different perspective on the couple and their fight.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Darcy and JT are on a holiday adventure, which is always an exciting theme for me to see in any book. I simply love the holidays!
Our main characters didn't really change or improve. Nothing is super remarkable about them.
The story is good. I liked the angry ghost who shows up with a wind storm. Not my favorite book out of the ones I've read, but not the worst.
I appreciate the variety in the ghostly/haunting/psychic experiences. It isn't the same thing every time which is refreshing. I enjoy the author's creativity with that and the mysteries.
The books are getting better but OMG enough already telling me that Helen is the Mayor and owns a coffee/bakery shop and Aaron is Graces husband. The book would be so much better if the useless words were removed. Such poor sentence structure. 1. A sentence should never start with the word “And”, and 2. Learn how to combine two thoughts with the use of a semicolon to make the sentence flow better then making two rather short sentences.
I liked the Christmas theme, but the author didn't really sell the whole "haunted Santa suit" idea. If the suit were truly haunted, why did it wait so long in between "hauntings"? There should have been more than just 2 indicents to qualify as having been haunted. I really hated the ending. I don't want him to move into her house. I don't like him!

Darcy solves mysteries (eventually) in this undemanding series. More pages are spent on her and Jon's red-flag relationship, which made the solution an almost rather jarring afterthought ro the storyline. This is a cute quick-read to start my holiday book binge. Just have to remember: with Darcy Sweet, the first suspect is NEVER the guilty party!😂

Well I really amazed my self tonight because I latterly just finished book#5 in this series. You will latterly want to jump into this book and go after the bad guys. But in the end Cupid had other plans for Grace and Arron and Darcy and Jon on this Happy Valentine's Day.
What a good Christmas story. I love a good ghost story and ghosts go right along with Christmas and Scrooge. and Smudge remindes me so much of having cats, especially at christmas time. Darcy does it again, figuring out what the ghost wants and yay for a happy ending.
I've got the six pack during SYKD and so I'm just reading them. They are quite terribly written and I wouldn't recommend anyone to read them. The number of red flags that Darcy & Jon wave, it's a surprise that they are continued to be portrayed as nice people.
I liked learning more about Darey's powers. I would love to introduce these books to my daughters. I'm just not sure how they would except the books I read . They try to by so high and mighty. Sorry.
Not everyone has a haunting, a plea and a murderer to find. Welcome to the world of Darcy Sweet! Cozy mystery with romance drama that I found annoying. I was willing Darcy to end the relationship. Good final result.
The Ghost of Christmas by K.J. Emrick was ... decent for its short length. Due to its short length, there wasn't much to the 'mystery' of this cozy mystery. Here's hoping The Stolen Valentine is longer and has more time & depth to the mystery.
Darcy Sweet lives in Misty Hollows, a town full of mysteries. When something bad is about to happen, a mysterious mist rises in the town, which is quite frequently. For Darcy, who can see ghosts, this often becomes dangerous, as she tries to help the ghosts and solve the mysteries of the town. In the fourth installment of the series, The Ghost of Chrismas, Darcy feels unsure about her future with her boyfriend Jon. This is when the ghost of Roger August visits her and informs her that he was murdered 20 years ago. So, Darcy ones again finds herself in a perilous situation!
In The Ghost of Christmas, the elements of romance and the problems in the relationship between Darcy and Jon are more central than the murder. This fact doesn't bother me, as it's the fourth book of the series and I've wanted to learn more about the way Jon feels about Darcy's ability. And for a moment, it's so bad that they almost break up. By the end of the book, I feel like both of them learn things about themselves that they weren't aware of and their relationship gets stronger.
The mystery was quite interesting as well. Darcy's ability and her aunt's ghost give good starting points for the investigation. The Santa suit, also, gives an unpredictable twist to the mystery. Is it really haunted? Like the other novels in the series, the conclusion comes quickly and quite easily.
All in all, The Ghost of Christmas is a light mystery, easy to read during the holiday season. With the Christmas pageant, it has a wonderful seasonal atmosphere. But don't expect too much suspense, because you'll be disappointed.
"The Ghost of Christmas" is the fourth book in the Darcy Sweet series & was an exceptionally short, quick read. Even though cosy mysteries are short I like mine more novella length as opposed to short story length. It does become hard to invest in the story if they are extremely short. Apart from that complaint, this was a genuinely enjoyable read. I like to be able to sit with a coffee, read about Darcy and her escapades, relax & spend some time blocking out the rest of the world. This series certainly accomplishes that.
Well written, entertaining storyline. The main Darcy Sweet Mystery story characters, have as scene in this book developed their personalities. The scenes in the story were descriptive thereby pulling me into the story.
This is a sweet ghost story and holiday tale. As always Darcy is a great character and with this story the author moves Darcys life along. Not too difficult to figure out the mystery but enjoyable.
I really liked this up to the end. I thought the mystery was solved way to easy and to quickly, but all in all another good read. On to the next one now.
This was a great little holiday mystery. I love how the main characters are developed throughout the series. This mystery was more sweet than suspenseful. But, I like that!
