Practical.
No technical Jargon.
Easy to read.
Ankur Warikoo thought these words throughout the book and similarly he wrote it. He made it so easy that a person as new as 6th grade student can understand and apply it into his life, if he is willing to.

If there is one thing I learnt from writings of @ankurwarikoo that is honesty. Just like Ankur sir tells us that his latest book Make Epic Money is all about personal finance I will be writing about my personal experience with this book. Also honesty comes first so let me tell you, avoiding self help I had not read his two previous books. So, starting at the start before reading this one, I read the previous two and being an absolute self help hating personality I unabashedly declare that I actually love them all.  This one in particular helps me get clear ideas about my finances and I have to say I got some points I discussed with my husband and also ideas I intend to implement.
.
So what I will be telling you here is how this book helps me see the state of my finances, learn from my previous mistakes and will help me manage my finances better in the future. The attractiveness about Warikoo's writing is his personal tone, he gives examples from his now well known life and quotes his mistakes and experiences as an example which is mostly recognisable, something to which you can identify your choices.
.
The sectioning of this book is on point. It takes you through how money simply started and what the value of money will always be - that it can grant us freedom and we should keep the balance of respective money and not let it rule our lives too.
.
The book takes us through the age old notions of keeping our money safe with Fixed deposits and how actually it's not a big turnover. It gives us information about the 50:30:20 rule of using the money, putting us into the zone of best compartmentalization of our finances.
There are many of us who inspite of having some surplus finances never think about investing it in the right way, we fear risks, we invest in property, transport with big loans and look at that as investments - with exemplary examples and absolute clarity this book shows you what can actually be the best way to channelize your money and also your capacity to earn.

"Make Epic Money" by Ankur Warikoo is like a guide for someone like me who's just starting to figure out jobs and money at 22. The language is simple, which helps a lot because money stuff can be confusing. It talks about budgeting, saving, and investing – basically everything I need to know.

The cool part is that the author shares his own mistakes, so you learn from them. I'm new to books about money, and for me, this one is just right – not too hard to understand. So, if you're like me, starting out and trying to understand money, "Make Epic Money" is a good pick.

This book will be your best guide to investing if you are new to investing. Even if you are seasoned investors, it is great to find various different avenues for investing. The way he thinks about money is fascinating and he does an amazing job of explaining his thoughts in very simple and practical manner.
This is one of the books I’ll repeated skim through when I want to invest for my future goals and retirement planning.

"When you take out your ego expenses from what you're left with after your needs, that's savings."

That's one hard-hitting (but rather simple) thought I liked about Make Epic Money.

The book isn't a revolutionary work. It regurgitates the same basic teachings you might have read in hundred other personal finance books.

Pile up assets, not liabilities. Budget your incomes and expenses. Have an emergency fund that's only for emergencies and so on.

It also debunks financial myths and psychological biases.

What makes Make Epic Money different is it's simplicity. It's part about building a money mindset, part about learning about money, and part about growing your savings.

What makes it different is that it gives you action plans to build wealth. To live the life you deserve. The book lists out several thumb rules, suggestions and templates to help you manage your money.

Instead of starting from scratch, you can use the worksheets to understand how to go about saving and earning money.

It's a light read, with short chapters, just like Ankur's other books. And that's what makes the book engaging.

And it's all set and described in the Indian context. Definitely a good read; only for those who struggle to manage their personal finances.

Imagine a world where money isn't a source of stress but a canvas for creativity and freedom. That's the world Ankur Warikoo paints in his transformative book, "Make Epic Money." Having already laid the groundwork with his insights on life's pivotal relationships in "Do Epic Shit," Warikoo now turns his gaze to the enigmatic world of finance, offering a blueprint that promises not just to change how we handle money but how we view it entirely.

"Make Epic Money" is not your typical finance book filled with incomprehensible jargon and unattainable goals. Instead, it reads like a map to treasure, guiding you through the realms of earning, saving, and investing with the wisdom of a seasoned explorer. Warikoo uses his financial voyages—complete with shipwrecks and treasures—to chart out a course that's as exciting as it is enlightening.

Warikoo's prose is a breath of fresh air in the often stuffy room of personal finance literature. He speaks like a wise friend, using clear, engaging language and relatable anecdotes that stick with you long after you've turned the last page. His ability to distill complex financial concepts into bite-sized, actionable advice is nothing short of magical.

While there are no characters in the traditional sense, the ideas themselves become characters in Warikoo's narrative. Each concept, from the importance of starting early to the power of compounding, is brought to life with such vibrancy that they feel like old friends by the end of the book. Warikoo's deep dive into the psychology of money and risk management is particularly compelling, offering a fresh perspective on age-old dilemmas.

The book’s structure mirrors the logical flow of a financial journey, beginning with foundational principles before moving on to more complex strategies. This progression ensures that readers are never lost but rather are taken by the hand through the maze of personal finance. Warikoo masterfully weaves together theory and practice, making each chapter a stepping stone to financial empowerment.

At its heart, "Make Epic Money" is a manifesto on the transformative power of financial literacy. Warikoo challenges the notion that wealth is about accumulation, arguing instead for a balanced life where money serves as a tool for achieving dreams. The underlying message is clear: financial freedom is accessible to all, provided we're willing to learn and adapt.

This book resonates on a deeply personal level, striking a chord with the financial fears and aspirations that dwell within us all. Warikoo's honesty about his own financial blunders and victories adds an emotional depth that is both humbling and inspiring.

Warikoo's greatest strength lies in his ability to make the reader feel seen and understood. His practical advice, free from condescension, empowers even the most financially anxious reader to take control of their economic destiny. The book’s clarity and simplicity, devoid of any pretense, make it a powerful tool for change. For veterans in the field of personal finance, "Make Epic Money" might tread familiar ground. However, this repetition is not without value, as Warikoo's unique insights and personal touch offer new dimensions to established principles.

"Make Epic Money" struck a personal chord with me, transforming what I thought was a dry subject into a fascinating journey. Warikoo's narrative made me realize that financial well-being is not just about the numbers but about the stories we tell ourselves about money.

Ankur Warikoo's "Make Epic Money" is a rare gem in the world of personal finance literature. It's a book that doesn’t just tell you how to live financially but shows you that it’s possible to do so with joy and wisdom. Whether you're a novice seeking direction or a seasoned investor looking for inspiration, this book holds the keys to transforming your financial narrative. I eagerly await Warikoo's next adventure, hopeful for the wisdom it will undoubtedly impart.

I did the audio book, read by the author, a social-media "influencer".

The author issues a disclaimer at the outset stating that he is not as qualified in finance as the other authors publishing finance related content, and then proceeds to quote from those and other books by Ramit Sethi, Monika Halan, Morgan Housel, even Naval Ravikant - so the material is largely "derivative" like that. Which in itself is not such a bad idea because people can still use a summary and there are plenty of players out there doing just that - publishing summaries of best sellers, but this one purports to be a book in its own right - which it, well, summarily isn't, given it has nothing new to offer and doesn't even do a good job of presenting or sequencing the information right, or making it palatable or useful to anyone at all. There has been no attempt to explain the basics or any effort in the direction of pitching this book to a particular demographic, so this is just plain useless material or perhaps just notes that Warikoo made while reading the other material he mooches from. There have been blogs, vlogs and this is most probably podcast material he turned into a book. We have this new genre of material from influencers that we need to be wary of! Now, if only I could take it to my bank as well, like Ankur there laughing all the way to his!

I am not being mean, and instead mean this as a suggestion when I say that maybe for an influencer to not use the internet to look up how certain words are pronounced, (like say "voila" for instance which he peppers throughout) is just not pétanque. You expect or hope for everyone else to look "your" content up, why not return that favor once in while and at least look up pronunciation instead of trying to sound all hep by using French, make such an ass of yourself and have your listeners all embarrassed for you!

Once again, nothing wrong with meta material only this was very badly done and a waste of time all around, except perhaps for the author. Your notes perhaps work for you dear chap, but they don't work for me. I gotta make my own from proper material, which I shall promptly proceed to do! I am sure at some point you've yourself gone "Eliminate the middle man!" like all self-help gurus do, and so will I. Everyone's an influencer these days! What will you do, except give them a taste of their own medicine!

I could sooner consult chatGPT than listen to this drivel!

Ankur Warikoo’s latest book, “Make Epic Money,” stands as a veritable financial bible, offering a comprehensive guide to investments and finance. Whether you’re a novice embarking on your investment journey or someone seeking a deeper understanding, this book proves to be an essential read.

I devoured the entire book in less than 24 hours, appreciating its blend of humor and profound insights. Despite having some prior knowledge in the subject, I found the content engaging and worthwhile. While the repetition of certain points can be mildly irksome, they undeniably leave a lasting impact on the reader.

One of the book’s strengths lies in addressing fundamental queries about savings, timing, and portfolio diversification. It skillfully breaks down complex topics such as bonds, stocks, shares, and insurance without drowning the reader in jargon. The simplicity of language makes it an accessible read, catering to both novices and seasoned investors.

The inclusion of practical advice on tax-saving strategies adds an extra layer of value, making it a win-win for readers. Moreover, the book delves into the emotional aspects of our relationship with money, providing a holistic approach to financial well-being.

A standout feature is the incorporation of QR codes that lead to pre-designed excel sheets. These sheets, along with investment advice tailored to specific age and income brackets, offer a practical and organized approach to financial planning. It’s a thoughtful touch that enhances the book’s usability.

In essence, “Make Epic Money” is a valuable resource for readers of all ages, with a special recommendation for teenagers embarking on their financial journey. I anticipate revisiting this book for its wealth of information and practical guidance, making it a timeless addition to my financial library.

Ankur Warikoo's "Make Epic Money" talks about personal finance, aiming to simplify its complexities and provide readers with a guide to achieving financial stability and success.

The author's writing style is simple and relatable. The chapter headings, designed to mimic natural conversations about money, add a conversational tone to the text, which I found quite interesting. His approachable language makes even the most intricate financial concepts understandable to a wide audience.

Drawing from his own experiences of triumphs and failures, the author delivers practical advice aimed at empowering individuals to take charge of their finances. The book discards financial jargon in favor of straightforward guidance, providing readers with actionable steps to earn, spend, and invest wisely.

This book is a convenient entry point into the world of financial literacy. The QR codes provide easy access to additional resources, adding a modern touch to the reading experience and enhancing its practicality. The section on financial planning by age and salary provides valuable considerations for readers at various stages of their financial journey. However, one can not blindly use the suggestions and must consider the other factors in one’s life.

Readers well-versed in popular finance literature may find some of the concepts like picking up side hustles, investing, buying insurance, 50-30-20 spending rule, etc., to be repetitive. It may not present entirely new ideas for those already familiar with similar works such as "Rich Dad Poor Dad" and "The Psychology of Money".

Nevertheless, the book's direct and simplistic approach makes it a worthwhile read for individuals looking to take the first and easy step toward financial literacy.

I am going to be 40 soon. In an age where there is so much information, I think I have forgotten in what I should believe in. I have ready plenty of self help books that speak about money but they are all based abroad. This is the first time I am reading a book by this author, I thought he is an idealist, a leftist, a garbage man. Man I was wrong! This book is an absolute war & peace on money. It is also a very anxiety relieving book. It in very clear precise terms tells you how to go about it. It is really patient with you. It does not glorify money but it tells you about all the things and challenges the belief systems you have grown up with.

Sometimes we make decisions - poor decisions, this tells you to focus on your spending, this tells what you should do at every salary level, it tells you how to invest, it tirelessly and patiently talks you through important things. I heard it on audible. Absolutely blown away by the concepts I have gained in just 4 Horus of listening. There is so much information that I read it over a week. But I was patient. I heard it at 1X. Ankur is like the elder brother you wish you had, he is like that rich uncle you have that finally sits you down and tells you how he did it, he is bereft of any ego, not one thing he says or not one stake he claims is indulgent. I think I will make at least 1CR from reading this book. You have to very stupid and very foolish to not be able to do so irrespective of your age and means. Thank you, Ankur. Bye for now.

Shocking Extra in the book was common mistakes we should avoid making, the in-depth talk about a variety of biases, the thing about NIFTY 50, cost of ownership, personal inflation (WOW) and so much more.

Make Epic Money by Ankur Warikoo comes from the non-fiction genre and profoundly talks about personal finance, financial literacy, wealth creation, financial independence, practical ways of earning, saving and investing money and Ankur’s personal experiences and learnings from mistakes that he made during his earning phases.

The book is designed in a very well-structured manner where everything is conceptualized with honesty and wisdom ,plus it is written in a very simple language. Ankur has made finance so much easier that even a 5th-grade student can learn from this book and apply it in their day-to-day lives.

Let me confess one thing before I proceed further - I am a huge Ankur Warikoo fan and a huge admirer of him. I love to watch all his productivity-related videos. I have read all his book recommendations as well as two of his self-written books and this one is best among them.

If you’re someone who thinks that this book consists of something new then you’re wrong and Ankur already clarified this. I have read finance books before and those were written by finance experts, this book is not written by a finance expert and he also doesn’t claim to be one, he also doesn’t want his books to get compared with those genius books, so I am not going to compare this book with those financial expert books.

As far as I understand, this book is mainly written for beginners to clarify their basic finance doubts. This book is a must-read for those who want to read about money and finance terms in brief but if you’re someone who wants to read financial terms in detail then this book may not be ideal for you. It can always be your stepping stone.

A Perfect Kickstart into Personal Finance!
As someone who recently joined the workforce and is keen to build a solid foundation in personal finance, Make Epic Money by Ankur Warikoo was a fantastic starting point for my financial journey. This book stands out with its conversational tone, tailored for Gen Z readers, making it feel like a relatable YouTube video in text form. Its modular structure allows readers to dive into any chapter independently, which adds to its accessibility.

What I loved most is the book’s approach: instead of prescribing a rigid formula, it emphasizes that "personal finance is, indeed, personal." It offers insights and options, empowering readers to chart their own financial paths. Ankur’s storytelling, grounded in his personal experiences, resonated deeply with me as someone who values learning through real-life scenarios.

The QR codes leading to Excel sheets and PDFs for budgeting, taxes, and financial planning were a thoughtful and practical addition. Chapters like "I Know I'll Make Mistakes" and "As Long as I Know This" were particularly insightful, shedding light on common financial mistakes, cognitive biases, and the importance of logical decision-making. The "Do This" notes at the end of chapters were a great way to reflect and apply the learnings effectively.

Overall, this book is perfect for anyone looking to take charge of their financial decisions and life. It's an empowering read, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone starting or navigating their financial journey.

Make Epic Money by Ankur Warikoo, from the bestselling author of Do Epic Shit, comes the third book, which is an equally practical and insightful non-fiction book that you should definitely pick up. I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. Each chapter was very insightful as well as eye-opening.

I liked how we get to see a rhythm in the contents and index page of the book. The chapter names were quite unique and exciting. As the author mentions, yes, this book is for the young and the Gen Z crowd. The language is very simple and also written to the point, which made it easier for me to grasp the information.

I always say this when it comes to non-fiction books: take your time with it; don't just read it and grasp it. With this book, I did exactly that and have started implementing slowly and steadily a few of the things mentioned in it. Take this as your workbook or starting point for all things related to money.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who may or may not even enjoy non-fiction. Take this book as your reminder and guide to money, not just as a book. Sometimes, we already know all these things since we may have been hearing them from friends and family, but we still need someone from the outside to say them for us to implement. This book did that for me!

Ankur warikoo writes with his heart and that is what is most appealing about this book. He appeals to an audience who is in great danger. The book focusses on youngsters and those who have just started their financial journey, which is cute and warming.
The book is a cook book in a way, that it is generic in many ways and yet the advice for making EPIC money is also based on calculations that involve concepts like Retirement calculations, insurance payments, compound interest and other ideas.
The book tells you to plan, think and spend wisely. Earn multiple incomes and give you the importance of money through life experiences of the writer. It also throws in some famous and fancy quotes on money by people warren buffet but overall, convincingly sends the message across.

Save, invest, earn more and document. Have a back up fund, have insurance and focus on investing in stocks, bonds and schemes with interest payment. In the end, the aim is to pay through the returns of your investments and not your salary.

Overall, its a good cook book aimed at basic financial literacy. The writer shares his own tough circumstances and how he overcame them. A short book with plenty of good advice and common sense. Highly recommended for those who have never thought about investing and financial long term planning.

i feel like this year, i have been more of a book critique than a reviewer. but you need to read this if this book is in your tbr.
this is one of those books i kept putting away as a student because i wasn't earning and i thought I'll forget the lessons by the time I'll actually need it. but it just appeared out of nowhere. i have read and liked other books by ankoor but finance, money and investment are the areas he shouldn't have talked about.
this is just a motivation to invest your money not a guide.
go for it if you kind quotes like, "Don’t be too impressed with yourself. You may not be as good as you think you are. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re never as bad as you think you are" fascinating. i didn't make it up, it's from this very book!
this book is full of "non-practical" financial advice and charts amd excels?!.
what made me angry was this: he rants for about 100 pages about investments and does and don'ts and then writes this at the end of the book- "I am not a finance expert. I am not SEBI certified. I do not have a finance degree. I have no business writing a book on money. So please, do not take anything I say in this book" 🙂 SHOULDN'T YOU PUT THIS IN THE FRONT COVER?
I'm blacklisting yet another author this year and i think he should plant one lakh trees because amazon says he sold more than one lakh copies of this book! what a waste!

This book is best oriented towards people in their early/mid-20s (fresh out of college and just started with a fresh job) although covers up to people in age 40s, especially in the Indian context. It is written in a very simple, easy-to-understand, casual conversational tone to avoid the overwhelming experience with the burden of knowledge like with other books. I would say this is it's biggest strength over other books on managing personal finance. It equally covers both - breadth and depth, that one must know and be aware of regarding their personal finances.

The broad topics covered are (in sequence),
1. Why Money?
2. Income
3. Expenditure and Lifestyle
4. Savings
5. Protection
6. Investment Strategies
7. Money Management
8. Common Mistakes
9. Emotional Biases
10. Ankur's Experience & Suggestions

Overall, I would suggest picking this as their first personal finance book and constructing their knowledge base from here then moving on to other books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, Psychology of Money, I Will Teach You to be Rich, etc.

NOTE: If you are looking out to understand topics in depth then would not recommend this book as it is not written for technical knowledge purposes but as a general awareness and guidance for beginners.

“The true purpose of money is NOT to help us buy things. The true purpose of money is to grant us freedom over our time, our choices and the way we lead our lives”- Ankur Warikoo, Make Epic Money

All throughout our lives as students we are always taught how to make money and how to ace at our respective professions. But the irony is that no one ever teaches us how to manage that money, how to invest & grow it, or what is the ideal money mindset. Here is where the author is trying to help the readers in the simplest way possible by sharing his learnings from his own struggles with money problems in the past.

We always ignore the topic of investing because there is this notion in our minds that it is too complicated, or we have the fear of losing our hard earned money. But it is not that complicated at all. There is no such thing as ‘right time for investing’. The earlier you start the better.

The book is beginner-friendly & jargon-free with bite-sized chapters making it easily digestible. I read this book along with attending the course called ‘Take Charge of Your Money’ that we received as a freebie on the pre-order of this book. With the combination of the course created by the author and this book, you have your ready-made investment plan right in front of you. All you have to do is follow it and make an investment plan suitable for your needs.

The book and course cover everything including the power of compounding, various channels of investing your money, investment plan based on your age & income group, strategies to grow your money, money-mistakes to avoid, etc.

Although the content of the book felt a bit repetitive sometimes, you can think that the repetition is meant to imbibe a healthy money mindset within you. If you value your money and are confused about your money-decisions, then this book will surely answer a lot of your questions.

Every book I read is somehow a 5 star! There is so much knowledge around the world.

Things I gained here is:
1. I need to be intentional about money, about how my spending can be more meaningful and bring in more fulfilment and not just spend mindlessly.
2. Love how Warikoo talks about making paying off debt a priority. Somehow on the same lines as that of Dave Ramsey.
3. Love it how he recommends staying away from credit cards for low income and old people. And how he advocates on wisely using cards for purchases. Only for the amount you already have it.
4. Most importantly, my take away is that I need to start living too. Life isn’t a math problem. Right now, i spend very little on wants. Just 10% of my income. And no, i am not a middle income man. I am one of the high income engineers in India. Plus, I have a wife. So in 3 months, as I pay off my home, I will increase our budget a little. Not by too much, don’t want to inflate lifestyle by a lot, but a little sustainable growth in wants will be done.
5. Lastly, I may not be as good as I think I am, nor am I as bad as I think I am. Lovely point. This keeps us humble and at the same time confident.

I am considering reading “Do Epic Ship” now 😄 someday…

(It is quite ironic that I jumped into a book about money right after reading Gita hahaha)

No matter what people say.. I really liked "Do Epic Shit".. and based on that, I got around to buying this book.

Right off the bat, I love how Ankur starts stating the mistakes he has made with money, which familiarises him with the reader quickly cuz what I cant bear is a writer tooting his own horn (I just want to be helped rather than impressed lol )

By the way, this is not those tick off books that you read just to reach your reading goal.. This is a meal that needs to slow-cook. I took my sweet time finishing this, and this is probably the one which has the most bookmarks.

If you are someone who struggles with personal finance and has a toxic relationship with money (something like: I want you, and I want you to be with me but I don't know where this is going, and I don't wanna talk about it), this is the book for you. At least this book will ease you into the idea of saving, investing and spending. The language is quite easy going and you don't feel schooled by the narrator, rather it feels quite conversational.

If you are someone who is a bit clueless about money, go for this!

Ankur Warikoo, the author of this book seems like he is in a hurry to produce books at a rapid pace. ( He comes up with one book every year! ) There is no harm here, but I think the contents of his books are becoming repetitive to an extent. Nevertheless, this one is a fun, informative quick read about money management.

The primary emphasis here is on the topic ‘how can money work for us’ rather than the other way around. As usual, his writing style is to the point – avoiding jargon. Another thing the author focuses are on different types of investing techniques. Ankur also comes up with his own excel sheets in this book which you can access online. ( I found the qr codes to the sheets interesting!) The explanation of the importance of medical insurance and life insurance was written well, the one thing which every one of us misses which can prove costly.

I sort of liked this book but there were also parts where I felt the repetitive element coming in. On the whole, if you are a working person, in your early 20’s, this book can be a guide on money management. For the rest, it is not too late either!

I picked this one because I had already read the previous two books by Ankur Warikoo and was ready to be disappointed again by the third one.

But I was very happy to see how Ankur has matured as a writer and while Do Epic Shit and Get Epic Shit Done were a bit preachy, Make Epic Money is a book that is practical and tells you the reality about how you should be dealing with your money.

I spent about 5 days slowly reading it and I loved how he has broken down investing in different financial instruments to make it easy to understand for beginners. In many places he refers to books and quotes by other authors too and has also given access to resources via QR codes that readers can use for their personal financial management.

This book comes out as an easy to refer guide when you start off with your trading and investing journey. And if you want to learn about different financial instruments, this is the book to pick up!
