Sehr lecker sowas.🤭🤭🤭

Nikki Jewell!!!! Ma’am!!!!!

I need More JACKSON!!!!! I could seriously read a whole series just about him! As a reader I know many of us have loads of book boyfriends but Jackson is my soulmate!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️

I loved this book so much! The dynamic between Tasha our FMC an intelligent, strong, independent, grumpy cat, engineer, rocker derby girl who doesn’t believe in love. Her heart is not only frozen solid, it is barricaded, chain linked, surrounded by a draw bridge with abnormally large piranhas and flying fire breathing dragons! No, but seriously, she doesn’t believe in love. She has a one night stand rule, that was until Jackson crashed into her literally and figuratively. Jackson is the MMC and he is this smart, sexy, dom, golden retriever just ray of sunshine hockey player who was also into casual hook ups. Once he started falling he fell hard and he is everything a woman wants. (Where do I find one) They try to fight their feelings until they can’t anymore causing some doubt and a little bit of heartbreak.

If you like tons of smut this is not the book for you BUT the sex scenes are SPICY!!!!! If you have not read this series, do it! I can not wait for book 3. Until then I will be rereading the Red Line because I am seriously obsessed!!!!

Tropes:
🏒black cat/golden retriever
🏒hockey player x roller derby girl
🏒opposites attract
🏒he falls first
🏒friends with benefits
🏒badass STEM fmc

Y'all. Y'ALL. Holy farts, this book is SO. GOOD.

Jacks has gotten into a spot of trouble - his playboy ways have caught up with him, and he's vowed off women for the season.

Enter Tasha, the Star Trek-obsessed roller derby girl he crashes into at the roller rink when his team goes out to celebrate a birthday. She's fiesty and fierce and doesn't fall for Jacks' charming ways. Right away.

The frisson of attraction between them isn't lost on each other, and Jacks seeks Tasha out at a club later that night. They're explosive, and while Jacks is determined to make her his, Tasha is resistant to anything that could make her deviate from her path.

She keeps him at arms length, but he's literally like a puppy and keeps coming back. He sets out to prove to her that what they have is worth the risk, the work, and the trust that they'll make it.

Listen. This boy falls SO FAST. He literally falls - crashing into Tasha in the rink - and he's a goner. I mean, I can't really blame him?? Tasha is 100% one of my top FMCs ever. She's a STEM girlie, she's a giant space nerd (I will accept Star Trek, but Star Wars is still superior IMO), pretty much always wears fishnets, and she plays roller derby.

I absolutely ADORED their dynamic. It's a quintessential black cat/golden retriever couple done SO WELL. They compliment each other in the best way.

I just loved this book so much okay 😭😭😭

Thanks so much to @nikkijewell_books and @literaryinspired for the chance to receive an ARC and review early!

So this was my first ARC read and honestly I was bummed in the beginning I didn't get the connection between the main characters but I pulled through AND LET ME TELL YOU! Jacks and Tasha? Perfect. The perfect combination of the grumpy x sunshine reverse trope! I love hockey player romances and Nikki Jewell did NOT disappoint! I flew through the rest of the book with ease and this is on of the steamiest romances I have read to this day! I love Jacks's character so much because we all need that hockey player who will look after you and make you feel good in our lives! Ugh what a book! What an experience! Definitely recommend to Elle Kennedy and Hannah Grace lovers!

ARC Review:
I LOVED this book! I am a sucker for hockey romance books and I feel in love with the characters. I love that she had a FMC who was strong and independent. This was my first Nikki Jewell book and I’m going back and reading the first book in this series!

All of the tropes were amazing! There was:
golden retriever x black cat
hockey x derby
friends with benefits etc

Great quick read! 5/5💕✨

If you are a hockey romance lover, in particular a COLLEGE hockey romance lover...go read this book NOW!!!!!

I have loved a LOT of books and a LOT of characters, but the chokehold that The Red Line, and Tash and Jacks have over my heart is unlike any other. I am SO IN LOVE with these two and their story. My only complaint with this story is that I NEED MORE!!! I need 10 more epilogues with Tash and Jacks.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

So, Tasha, our FMC is the definition of a strong female lead. She is a bad-ass Engineering student at Lakeview College, who is a roller derby star for the local team. I love her humor and her friendships, and how she sticks up for women. I want to be friends with her!

Now, Jacks, our MMC. He is a former bad boy/playboy who is a DIRTY TALKING SUNSHINE GOLDEN RETRIEVER! He is thoughtful, kind and the alternate captain of Lakeview's hockey team, on his way to the NHL. He is the dreamiest guy, he has amazing communication and he is just so EARNEST!!! I’m obsessed!!!!

I also loved all the side characters! Every single one!! (Well minus Tasha’s mom😂)

I am going to be in a major book hangover after this one!

🏒College Hockey and Roller Derby Romance
🛼Engineering student & Roller Derby Skating FMC (we love a woman in STEM!)
🏒Hockey Player MMC - Dirty Talking Golden Retriever (THE MOUTH ON THIS GUY!!!!🥵🥵🥵🥵)
🛼Reverse Grumpy/Sunshine
🏒One Night Stand
🛼Instant Spice🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

Book: The Red Line
Author: Nikki Jewell
Publication Date: Jan. 18, 2024

My Star Rating: 5/5 ⭐
My Spice Rating: 4/5 🌶️
Favorite Characters: Jacks and Tasha

The Red Line is the second book in the five-book Lakeview Lightning College Hockey Romance series. It can be read as a standalone.

Synopsis:
Jackson “Jacks” Vaughan is a star player for the Lakeview Lightning hockey team who is only down for one-night stands. Natasha “Tasha” Devereaux roller derby player and engineering student who doesn’t believe love is real. Although they both have sworn relationships are not for them, when they collide, things change.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book and the author’s writing style. I read this in one sitting and could not put it down. I felt all the emotions with this one! This was my first Nikki Jewell book and she definitely did not disappoint. I am a sucker for hockey romance books and stories with reformed playboys. I loved all of the characters – the main characters, the roller derby girls, and the hockey guys. Jacks and Tasha are both strong and passionate characters with bright futures ahead of them. Tasha has clear goals and will not allow anything or anyone stand in the way of her achieving her dreams. She sticks up for women, has a great sense of humor, and is surrounded by a great group of friends who truly support each other. Jacks is a former playboy who has landed a contract with the NHL after he graduates. He is the perfect guy – he is open-minded, supportive, attentive, thoughtful, and knows how to treat the women he loves (including his mom). He also communicates! Jacks was determined to make Tasha his while Tasha was determined to push Jacks away. I loved watching them grow as lovers, and how Jacks was able to break down the walls around Tasha’s heart to show her that love does exist.

Overall this is a great, easy read that gives you humor, romance, spice, fun, and the perfect happy ending. If you are a college hockey romance lover, this book is an immediate YES. You won’t be disappointed.

💫Arc Review 💫

The Red Line by Nikki Jewell 🏒🛼

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

This was my first chance at being on an ARC team and what a fun book to start with. If you like sport/hockey romances, you should be putting this book at the top of your TBR!

This book was so fun and sassy! Tasha brought a lot of that sass as the FMC. She does her best to keep men at a distance and is set on her goals after college. Not only is she a brainiac, but she’s also a kick ass derby girl. 🛼 This was the first book I’ve ever read where the FMC was a punk roller derby chick and I loved it! I applaud Nikki Jewell for creating a unique FMC. 🩷🖤

Tasha is so loyal to her friends and building other women up. Her character is strong, but she has closed off her heart in fear of letting someone too close. That all changes of course once she meets Jacks. ☀️

Jacks or Sunny as Tasha likes to call him, is a complete golden retriever MMC. He is a player, charming and so stinking sweet. He treats Tasha with so much respect even when she’s doing her best to push him away. He is absolutely stuck on her the moment they collide and his chapters had me smiling. 🏒☀️🛸

What you can expect:

Intense roller derby action meets steamy hockey romance. 🛼🏒

💔 A grumpy heroine who’s all about breaking the mold
☀️ A sunny hockey star with a playboy past
🏒 Heart-melting moments on and off the rink
🛠️ A STEM heroine who’s as smart as she is strong
📚 A journey of self-discovery and challenging the status quo

This book was a quick read that had me giggling (basically) the entire time. 🥰🤣🤩😍☺️😋 What are you doing!? GO ADD IT TO THE TOP OF YOUR TBR NOW!!!

GAASSSSSPPPPP. I FUCKING LOVED ITTT. OH. MY. GOD.
I knew this was going to be good, but I’LL BE DAMNED.
First off, from the other books in this series, Jacks has always been the total player, and we see it at the start of this book as well. And I WAS WAITING to hear about this playboy FINALLY subbing and GIRRRLLLL Tash IS THE PERFECT FIT. She is A FUCKING POWERHOUSE. Takes shit from no one, and plays into her own self-independence, and ‘I don’t need no man or relationship’ attitude. Oh and she doesn’t take ANNNYYY SHIT from Jackson and its GOLD. I love her attitude, her wit, and just everything about her speaks goddess.
And Jackson, GOOD LORD. I just am dying. Of course, he’s absolutely gorgeous, AND HE LOVES CHOCOLATE. Man made in HEAAVEEENNN. Not to mention, gets absolutely wrapped up by Tash, and is instantly around her little finger and follows her like a lost puppy. COMPLETE 180 and we are LIVING FOR IT.

The overall cuteness in this book has me LEVITATING. Especially the grand gestures, not to mention that epilogue. I DIED. DEAD. And I fell in love ALL OVER AGAIN. I also loved seeing how Aspen and Jordan’s relationship evolved, as well as seeing how this book was around the same timeline as The Comeback while Sebastian was grovelling over Abby *wink*. I just wanted to cuddle both Tasha and Jackson, from their pasts and their issues with trust. It is no easy thing to go through, but just allowing themselves to trust in one another, and help each other trust again is just UGGGHHH.
Now… I just need to indulge into Dev’s story when that comes out cause I desperately need to get up close and personal with Lucy himself. *smirk*.

"I love you, and that feeling isn’t going anywhere.”

"But it seemed like when the right person came along, I had to take a chance.”

Jacks is a one night stand kind of man, but one day he meets his match. Falling in love was never in his plans but can he keep those feelings away or does he let himself fall. Tasha has one thing on her mind, and that's her future in engineering she doesn't have time for love. Will she let her walls crumble down or will she continue doing what she has been her whole life.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

Jacks is such a playboy but once he met Natasha he stopped real quick. The way Tasha kept fighting those feelings. She really tried hard but in the end it didn't work very well for her. I loved the friendship in this book it was top tier material. I was kicking and screaming during chapter 30. Oh my goodness. I couldn't handle it. I swooned so much. Then we get to chapter 32 and I lost it. 😭 This book had some spice to it and it was so enjoyable. The plot was fun and easy to follow along. This book sucked me in.... 🏒🏒🏒

Tasha and Jacks are AMAZING!!! So we have Jacks who is a hockey player, beautiful, goofy and kind. He's also played around A LOT and enjoyed every second of it until it comes back to bite him in the bum?

Tasha, on the other hand is a bit of a black cat as they call it. She is beautiful, has tats, black and pink hair, is in the roller derby and is an engineering student who doesn't believe in love and much like Jacks, has a one and done kind of deal.

What happens when the chemistry between these two is just to hard to deny and they both go back for more? It gets pretty intense, that's for sure 😍

I was screaming at my kindle at Tasha because she just couldn't fully give in to what she was feeling. Jacks is such a golden retriever and would have done just about anything to keep Tasha forever.

This book kind of gets you in the feels about their backgrounds and with their current situation and what they have both gone through. We get to see a different side from both of them which I appreciated.

I love that we get to see Seb and Abby from book 1 and I can't wait to see what the future holds for Tasha and Jacks. I am also really intrigued by Cole and his story???

Thank you so much Nikki and her beautiful team for giving me a chance to ARC read this book. I am forever grateful 🙏

EEEEKKKKK thank you so much, Nikki, for allowing me the opportunity to read this book! I loved each second. I honestly didn't think I could like it more than the first in the series, but you really did outdo yourself!

Plot: Again, I am new to the realm of hockey romance novels, but boy and I am becoming a fast fan. Pair that with a strong, independent woman who is learning about what she deserves in life, and I am a fan. I loved the banter between these two and the unique names that they use for each other. Both characters have a lot of growth throughout the story, and Lord help me if I want to avoid a glimpse 5-10 years into their future. I. AM. OBSESSED.

Romance: This book is much heavier in the romance and open-door scenes than book one. It is very fitting for the characters and the story that is going on, but it feels important to mention it for anyone curious about picking up this book. The romance between the two feels natural, and I was rooting for them from the beginning.

What I would like to see: I would have loved to have just a bit more history about both characters. That is probably one of the bigger reasons this book wasn't a 5. Additionally, parts of the book felt rushed, but nobody wants to read a 700-page book, so it's understandable why those things were left out or moved through quickly. Overall, a very good read, and I look forward to the next book!

This was a fun and spicy Opposite attracts, Women in Stem, Reverse Grumpy and Sports Romance.
Jacks is the playboy Hockey player but needs to reign it in as his professional contract for next season is in trouble. He is so positive and happy go lucky kind of guy. He makes you laugh and smile, the guy is infectious even through the pages. He only does one night stand as past has taught him otherwise.
Tash is very sceptical about love as she has never seen any growing up apart from her grandma, who isn't here no more. So she comes across quite grumpy and sometimes Debbie downer. So one night stands are perfect as no feelings can be caught.
When these two literally crash into each other, their life is about to change.
I loved how Jacks never gave up or still continued to smile even after her short replies. If anyone can brighten Tash's life up it's him.
Read and explore how they navigate their feelings, work, life, friendship family and trauma. This was very Steamy and Jacks is very hot with that mouth of his.
This was a fun and easy story to read. I loved it. Now I will read book 1 and can't wait for book 3 to come.

ARC REVIEW

Blurb: Natasha Devereaux, a fierce roller derby enthusiast and engineering student, lives by one rule - no strings attached. But when Jackson Vaughan, a sunny college hockey star, enters her life, everything changes. 💔⚡ Can the grumpy girl on skates and the charming hockey player resist the spark between them? 🌪️❤️

It was a good first experience with this author writing. I just felt like everything was too rushed, but besides that it was a good book. I loved that Natasha was an athlete and a STEM and I loved even more when he fell in love first.
This is a quick read and you will not regret reading it. ❤️

🏒 Reverse Grumpy Sunshine
🏒 Golden Retriever Male Lead
🏒 Reformed Player
🏒 STEM Female Lead

🏒 Strangers to Lovers

I went back and forth between giving this book three or four stars, but ultimately gave it four stars because it has a playlist and I'm a huge fan of books including playlists to create a vibe. One of the main downsides of this book was that it needed another good edit - it was obvious that it went through spellcheck, but it meant that the wrong words were used in certain situations, things like "just the dip" instead of "just the tip." Talk about a mood killer, lol. Another was that some of the sentences were fragmented or didn't use the right punctuation making it a little tough to read. But the author's writing was noticeably more mature from the last book to this one and it had a pretty good pace and flow. I especially loved the FMC. She was so outside the traditional FMC and I was here for all of it. I also liked the reverse grumpy sunshine. All around, a fun read.

Hockey + Roller Derby = Hot fun!

I loved, loved, loved this book! Tasha and Jack are characters I will revisit again and again. This friends with benefits, commitment phobe, sports romance has everything you could want in a romance:

• Snarky, witty dialogue;
• Girl power;
• Hot smexy times;
• Roller Derby;
• FMC is the grumpy one; and
• She grovels.

This author did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. I think I spent most of my time reading this book with a smile on my face. While I wanted to shake Tasha every now and then, I knew where she was coming from, she and Jack’s chemistry was electric.

I loved the side characters and cannot wait to read their stories. I cannot recommend this author, and this book, enough. It’s an amazing read.

Nothing serious & no strings attached was a promise the derby girl and the hockey boy should have ever made. It’s hard to deny your perfect match.
Nikki Jewell did a great job with Tasha & Jacks’ story. This is the second book in the Lakeview series. It can be read as a standalone, but you don’t want to miss out on Aspen & Jordan’s story (book 1, The Breakout) I suggest you read that as well! (Sign up for Nikki Jewell’s email newsletter for a free copy) I love her writing style & the funny banter between the characters. It was fun to read & lots of spice. There were some moments that my heart was breaking for Jacks. I will be rereading this series and keeping their stories with me.

Omg this book!! Jacks is a college hockey star with commitment issues, Tash is a roller derby engeneering student who’s terrified of love. Their love story was so sweet and so hot. The chemistry between these two characters was perfection. You can’t not root for them. Jacks is loving, caring, sweet, golden retriever, cinnamon roll of a man. Tash is strong, independent, stubborn. They made the perfect couple. The side characters were funny and I would love to see their own stories as well. This story is full of funny moments, sad moments, happy moments, it has romance, angst, spice and lots of hockey. Loved every second of it.

The Red Line ARC review.

I really enjoyed The Red Line and all of the different facets it contained.
What starts out as a no strings attached arrangement between Tasha and Jacks turns into more as both of them start having feelings for the other. Neither of them want to admit it as they have both had heartbreak in the past in different ways. The way Nikki Jewell told their stories from their dual perspectives as they worked through their hang ups was a breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed how well Tasha and Jacks complimented each other and they had great communication between them. They just needed to figure out how to get out of their own way to make their relationship work.

This book started off really good and I loved that it was a reveres grumpy and sunshine situation. I loved how he had all his Canadian chocolates hostage because as a Mexican I feel that Mexican candy is superior to what we find in the US 😅
It did feel a bit rushed, like there was lots of things going on but not enough to actually dig into the situations to get through them properly. Overall the book was a good read with lots of spice! If you love hockey/sports romance this is one to check out!! ❤️

Started off ok and then just got really sucky. At times, I swear there was missing pages, or dialogue, or scenes because it jumped from one thing to another & was really choppy. It got very cringe and I despised how jacks expressed his feelings. Initially, the author went to great lengths to demonstrate how serious he takes consent (perfect!), and then later he is sharing his feelings and then chastising her for not having the same feelings/ shaming/ blaming her! It was so random and ridiculous.

Honestly almost DNF’ed around 60-70% mark but forced myself to continue just so I could see how it ended. Overall not worth it, wouldn’t recommend.

The "perfect" playboy Jackson, Jacks, is determined to hang up his party hat to make it to the NHL. No girls, no partying, just hockey and school.
Tash has interviewed for her dream job in NYC at an engineering firm that also believes in sustainability. She's focused on roller derby and school.
After colliding with each other, Jacks is smitten and determined to make Tash his. Tash has seen too many women give up their dreams for men and lived to regret it. She refuses to follow suit.

Hockey meets Roller Derby.

The second book in the Lakeview Lightning Series.
Jackson the hockey player meets Tasha the Roller Derby Player.
I love that Tasha is a strong FMC who doesn't back down on her dreams for a man.
Jackson is a swoon worthy hockey player, who falls first and stops at nothing to get her as his.
A love story with some really hot and spicy scenes, and a Strong FMC who realises she can have it all.

This is a lovely addition to the series and a recommended read!

I really loved this romance. Jacks is a bit of a player but when he gets in trouble, he swears off woman until he runs into Tasha. Tasha doesn’t believe in love, but is quite attracted to Jacks. The chemistry between these two are sizzling hot and steamy, and what was agreed to be a one-night stand, turns into more. However, both are fighting demons from their past, and need to overcome them to get to their happily ever after. I found this story to be sweet, steamy and fun.

Hockey and Roller Derby

OMG this was hot, hot, hot! Nikki Jewel draws you in with her characters and in-depth storyline. Hockey player Jackson is in need of a change in reputation to keep on track with his career. Natasha is jaded by love and her focus is on completing her degree. Their collision with one another is intense and steamy so when they finally accept their love for each other it is passionate and satisfying.

Oh how I loved Tash and Jacks! Both had things in their past holding them back, but once they were able to see what was in front of them pure magic. I loved how Jacks tried to reassure Tash he wouldn't try and change her or make her give up her dreams. I think this is so important in a relationship. I thought have Tash actually have to go after Jacks to get the happy ending was great! You will fall in love with this couple and their friends!

Nikki rocked my world with this book! Jacks is a cocky, college hockey star and Tasha is a roller derby queen who is strong and fierce. She is the grumpy to his sunshine and I could not get enough. The tension between the two was on fire and the spice level is perfect. This is a must read for the college hockey romance lovers!!
