Rate this book
"What are clouds made of, and why do they float? Are skies the water and clouds the boat?" From cotton candy that melts in your mouth to comfy cushions where birds take their naps, clouds take on many shapes in our imaginations. This whimsical picture book by newcomer Robert Walker and acclaimed illustrator Matt Mahurin takes young readers on a fantastic journey through the skies, leading them eventually to sleep: "I know what they are, I've figured it out. What are clouds...what are they made of...where do they come from? A machine we have never seen? Are they the cotton candy for giants? These and other wonderings are shared through this cloud prompting story. It would be a great introduction to a cloud, or weather, unit for the K-2, to generate ideas of their own (gain access to correct concepts and misconceptions), and use it as a dive into finding out.

Would be a great book for meditation or a calming corner. Strictly imagination, no science.

Very imaginative and beautiful artwork. My daughter, although only 5 months old, is mesmerized by this book. I can't wait until she's old enough to look up at the clouds and come up with her own theories about what they are and where they came from.

We picked this book up from the library and my kids and I LOVE it. It's a very calming book with great illustrations. Adelaide has had me read it to her atleast 50 times this past week, and it still hasn't gotten old for me either.
