This is a delightful story, with our couple both having strong personalities that clash. The banter is sweet with a barbed edge. I liked that he called her Butterfly but not that he changed it to Sunshine. I know it was explained but Sunshine in Australia is often used as a mild putdown, especially if one is making a point. It's slightly sarcastic. The tale has quite a bit of depth and continues even after all seems resolved, with more surprises. I was appalled at her mother's behaviour and it was not really explained. After all, a Marquess, even a scarred one, is higher than an Earl. She is just an awful woman. The extended epilogue didn't mention what happened to her and their relationship. It was nice to see Ariadne mellow. I loved the cover photo. This was an ARC I voluntarily read and reviewed.
I enjoyed this story. Augusta and Jason are matched by a Matchmaker. Many thought their match would not work because Jason scarred from the war. However, despite initial antagonism between them, they began to see ways to make their marriage work. Jason struggled with nightmares and Augusta helped him to cope. If left to themselves, they would have been able to work things out but others were determined to ruin their marriage and separate them. Will they succeed? Read on and enjoy this well-written story.
This is one unique Beauty and the Beast tale. Love starts with kindness and a connection of passion that bends our hearts towards love. Our Beast has PTSD and night terrors, and Augusta is a compassionate woman who only wants to understand her husband. I'm not sure who plays Gaston in this piece; her mother or Lord Rueford. Either of them is a piece of self-centered and greedy evil. This is a tale as old as time, a love that cannot die.
The matchmaker puts together two people who want to be married. The heroine wants it because she was jilted and hopes to avoid a scandal. The hero wants it as he sees others happy in marriage, but he is unsure about revealing his nightmares. They start to open up to each other, but other characters interfere. It was a good read with enough twists to keep me going. I don’t think the cover does justice for the time period.
Still trying to understand how this book got this title. Too much graphic sex for me. Augusta has parents, especially her mother, who wants to see her married to almost anyone after William Sullivan, the Earl of Rueford, breaks their engagement 3 days before the wedding. However when the matchmaker matches Augusta with Jason Meyer, the Marquess of Oakhampton, Augusta's mother is against the marriage to Jason. But why? You will need to read this story to find that out and more.
This was such a beautiful love story. I couldn’t put it down. I loved Augusta And the fierceness that came out when she fought for Jason. Jason was a war victim and a work in progress. I couldn’t help but want to fight for him. Plus there are plenty of surprises to keep everything exciting. I’m gladly volunteering to give this review.
Another great one by Daphne Byrne with the matchmaker Marie. I love this series and am still looking forward to Marie meeting her match.
Jason had been in war and was scarred. Augusta had to marry to save her family from scandal but the attraction was there from the beginning. Very sweet and touching characters. Would read again!
A sad story of how a war hero is rejected because he has facial scars. Augusta is left at the altar three days before the ceremony, mother takes her to a matchmaker but when she is matched with Jason, her mother tries to sabotage everything! A story of survival by this couple!
The Matchmaking Games Book 4 was just as good as the first three. And the couple were nicely matched. But the interference from family was another the matter. Was great to read about a previous match intertwining in this delightful story.Well written and quite a twist in this read.
This was promising to start. I liked the banter between Augusta and Jason. It was obvious where the relationship was going. The whole situation with her mother and the Earl was very disappointing, and she seemed smarter than to fall for all the schemes so easily. It just seemed so naive and out of character, and it took away from her character.
Daphne has brought the characters to life in this wonderful story showing how love can bring two people to live to to their full potential. While having to stand against people who should help them not fight against them. I recommend this book.
Throughly enjoyed this Author..The lively storyline and the characters were great in their action with each other finding their way to their HEA. Lists of intrigue and action.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and faced challenges that were real and relatable. PTSD has followed veterans of wars since the beginning of time.
Was excited to read this book but found myself extremely disappointed. The story seems to have no real content. Her mother's persistence comes across as forced and deeply boring, and the story lacks significantly. Found myself jumping over parts as they were not captivating.
I have enjoyed this book. As a wife of sailor from Vietnam war and a sister of a marine aged in the Korean War we will always have men and women damaged from war. Jason had to fight for his wife but her love didn’t stop.
This storyline is amazing as it has danger, intrigue, selfishness, passion and love. This is an awesome story for the romantically inclined as well as those interested in mystery.
This author is sorta new to me, as I just finished my seventh book. I am now moving on to number eight. I am not a big writer myself but I can say I definitely love her work. I would definitely recommend these books. Happy Reading📚😍💥📚😍💥
It was a good book overall, it's just that Augusta looked a bit dumb falling victim again and again and not taking a stand. And Jason was nice, grumpy and the kind I like. I don't know though Augusta's naivety isn't the only thing that could've made me take off the 2 stars.
Talk about recovery, heroism and bravery in one story! This is a great story. The best one I’ve read from her so far and looking forward to reading more!
I really enjoyed reading this book, loved the characters. This book was full of surprises and family betrayal. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Just... ew. This guy is worse than Gaston. He's rude, angry, accidentally mean, and generally an ass. He's completely unlikable. There's no reason she should fall in love with this guy.
