The Chick Flick Project
Ally Nichols is fed up with constantly putting herself out there to only be rejected again and again. After her most recent failure, she comes up with a solution. She decides to start modeling her love life after all of the big screen’s most recognizable love stories. Hilarity, heartbreak, mishaps and mayhem ensue. She hopes that maybe one of them actually figured out the secret to true love. The only no one ever told her that sometimes your Hollywood Happy Ending is where you least expect to find it.

This book surprised me quite a bit. Its very light hearted and written in an online / blog post type of format. I love the concept of trying to apply Hollywood chick flicks into your real life, even as an experiment. The book has you laughing and cheering, then smacking your head thinking OH NO. About midway through the book I began to feel finished with it, predicting the way it would end, but it actually twisted around and shocked me into finishing with a rush, dying to find out how it ended.
You won't be disappointed with this, its a fun fast read. For the younger crowd, a few choice language and scenes.

I am a fan of contemporary chick-lit (or now women’s fiction) and of romance so I picked The Chick Flick Project thinking it would be light fun book to read. As I have watched many Chick Flick movies, I was intrigued about what this book was about as it looked like a funny read.
When I started to read it, I found I was a little confused about what the book will be about, as it was a little slow introducing the topic and I had little idea of where the setting was. The book is written in a similar diary entry from the point of interest of Allison Nichols who tells the story in a first person in a light easy tone. She tells the story of how she attempts to meet men using the plot of several chick flick romances and how she learns from them as a subject for her magazine Why Me? Also intertwined with her relationships with her best friends Zack and Jill and how they help her get through each assignment which I really enjoyed getting to know.
As I kept reading about each assignment, I found the written parts of the plot of the romance novels a bit too long as I have seen these movies so I skimmed through it. The plot lines of the movies should have been a little less and more about the background stories of her best friends because I enjoyed several laugh out loud moments of the situations Ally got in and their reactions and would have liked to learn more of their story.
During the second part of the book, I felt it was more rushed and that it was the more important part of it. There was more action, and I wish there had been more action in the first part as well. It seemed that it became more thrown in there as the book went on. The conclusion was wrapped up a bit clumsy and I felt that was the most significant part that should have been written with care as I felt the pace suddenly sped up.
I feel after reading it, a diary style story is not my favorite type of style. However, I enjoyed the story and anyone who enjoys a light, easy contemporary romance will enjoy this.

I don’t think it is very smart for you to put your name and number on the money you leave behind. Thanks for being very nice to me What do you do with all those teeth anyway? I read the book a few different times. I truly loved it. This was my first blog-journal style book I've read and enjoyed it! It was fast pace, the characters were addicting, and all around a fun, will read again book.
