Horacio Quiroga

He wrote stories which, in their jungle settings, use the supernatural and the bizarre to show the struggle of man and animal to survive. He also excelled in portraying mental illness and hallucinatory states. His influence can be seen in the Latin American magic realism of Gabriel García Márquez and the postmodern surrealism of Julio Cortázar.

The worthy one.
A short story collection by renowned Horacio Quiroga, the famed latinamerican Poe.
A pretty lousy collection tbh, except for that one outstanding exception which, along with “The Decapitated Chicken” and “The Feather Pillow”, is among the finest I’ve read by Quiroga. Truly amazing. And I’m torn between returning this to the used bookstore, or keeping it for that story alone. Oh well, as long as I still have room, I guess it can stay.
Go for the Best, consider the Good, whatever the Meh.

Ese sí que lo valió.
Una colección de cuentos cortos por el renombrado Horacio Quiroga, el famoso Poe latinoamericano.
Una colección bastante pésima para ser honestos, salvo por esa asombrosa excepción que, junto con “La Gallina Degollada” y “El Almohadón de Plumas”, está entre los mejores que he leído por Quiroga. Verdaderamente destacable. Y estoy dividido entre devolver esto a la librería de usados, o conservarlo sólo para esa historia. Oh bueno, mientras siga teniendo espacio, supongo que puede quedarse.
Ir por lo Mejor, considerar lo Bueno, loquesea lo Meh.

Pues la verdad que he de decir que no me ha gustado. Después de conocer al Horacio Quiroga de "La gallina degollada" o "El almohadón de plumas", estos cuentos me han dejado un poco descolocado, salvando únicamente "En la noche", que es el último de ellos. No voy a decir que haya sufrido ni mucho menos, pero tampoco de disfrutado mucho con ellos. ❤️📚☕
