Everything about Casey and Andrew Barrett seems perfect. They are smart and successful, have two beautiful children, and are very wealthy. Both beholden to Casey’s rich and powerful father, Gordon, they have always quietly accepted his orchestration of their perfect life, despite it being built on a long history of family secrets.
But when Casey and Andrew uproot their lives to move their family to the Pacific Northwest, and sweet and demure Melodie Sawyer enters their household, the chaos that erupts is something none of them could have predicted.
As the secrets of their past unfold, Casey is forced to face the truth she’s always known about herself, shattering everything she and Andrew tried to portray as perfect, and exposing everything Gordon worked so hard to keep hidden away.
Tansy Rose is an author, mother, lawyer, and lover of words. She loves reading as much as she loves writing, especially romances, thrillers, contemporary fiction, biographies, and even the classics. WHAT'S MEANT TO BE is Tansy's debut novel with several others in the works. Thank you for reading!
“What’s Meant to Be” is a twist of crafted fate and a thrilling ride of a read. Secrets and lies play tricks behind the scenes as you read on, twist after another. I kept finding myself saying‘didn’t see that coming’. No spoilers here. Thats what makes this book fun reading. Recommended read!
This book hooked me right from the start. The seemingly perfect lives of Casey and Andrew Barrett crack under the weight of their powerful and controlling father, Gordon. The story unfolds beautifully, like a slow burn that suddenly explodes into a wildfire of secrets and revelations. This book is more than just a suspenseful family drama – the unexpected plot twists really blew me away. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the author threw a curveball that left me scrambling to re-evaluate everything. It kept me guessing until the very end, and that's exactly what I look for in a good page-turner.
So confused. Is Melody pregnant with her half brothers baby?! Wtf happens next? I liked but I’m highly concerned about Melody. They both messed with her feelings behind eachothers backs. Maybe I need a book 2 to see what happens next with Melody. Also icky if her and Andrew are half siblings.

Casey and Andrew Barrett are a power couple with twin boys, Riley and Rory. Casey's father, Gordon, is an active grandparent who is wealthy and looks out for his daughter and grandchildren. When a job offer came up for Andrew to move Casey and the boys from California to Seattle, Gordon supported the move. For New Years, they move into their new house and meet Melodie Sawyer, who is wanting to be a nanny to the Barrett twins. Not only is Melodie good with kids, but she also has an attraction for Casey Barrett. Melodie immediately starts sucking up to Casey, telling her that she is an amazing mom while being a homemaker to Andrew Barrett, which makes him happy because Casey is a career woman. Melodie secretly has a crush on her husband, Andrew Barrett. Casey and Andrew are happily married. Melodie kissed Andrew.
Andrew decides to schedule a family vacation to Cabo and take Casey with him. Andrew kisses his wife, Casey, in front of Melodie, and it doesn't sit well. Andrew is texting Melodie to go for a drive with him, saying, "it's a date." Casey took Melodie home Valentine's Day night and had sex with her, and dropped her off at home. After a time, Andrew decides cheating on his wife is wrong, so he stops seeing Melodie and works on his marriage. After that, Casey makes a move and kisses Melodie. What will happen if the girls are exposed? What will Casey's dad think? What will Andrew think? What will happen when Casey finds out Melodie slept with her husband? This book has some serious plot twists. It's a must-read.
This marks my 14th read of the year! I know I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but work has been incredibly busy, and it’s been tough finding time to post or even read with how exhausted I’ve been. Luckily, I was sent this book months ago by the wonderful Tansy, though due to the unreliable postal service here in South Africa—and me forgetting to give her my contact number for delivery—i was only able to pick it up last month. I started it immediately, but work got in the way again, and I only managed to finish it now. Let me tell you, I regret not picking it up sooner!
Now, on to the review: Casey, a successful mother of two, and her equally accomplished husband Andrew seem to have the perfect life. They move to the Pacific Northwest to start a new business venture for Andrew, as well as to distance themselves from Casey's overbearing father, Gordon. Casey hires a nanny, Melodie, to help with the family. What seems like an ideal arrangement soon unravels as buried secrets begin to surface. And the ending? Wow—it's one you definitely don’t want to miss.
This book was absolutely amazing! The characters and their individual stories left me stunned at every turn. I wholeheartedly recommend it—100%. It’s available on Kindle Unlimited and also on Amazon in physical format. Trust me, you’ll want to get your hands on it.
Ps. Tansy, I’m so sorry it took me so long to post this review. I can't wait to read whatever you have coming next!
Honestly, this story is amazing! I really enjoyed it! There is an element of complexity in the dynamics of the family, as well as the way the characters are crafted. There will not be a moment when you won't want to pick up this book and put it down!
The entire book kept me interested but I was especially surprised by the ending. I don’t want to give anything away but make sure you bring the tissues. It was easy to follow and had a lot of twists that made the book hard to put down.
2.5 stars- This book reminded me of a soap opera. It seemed fairly predictable to me at times and it focused only on relationships and feelings. Even though I’ve never read another book like it, it felt like I was reading in deja vu and had either seen this or read it before.
