The Immigrant

Rate this book
We have all heard the phrases, "Appearances don't matter," and "It's what's inside that counts." Can you honestly say such a thing and mean it, regardless of the circumstances? Just how far would you be willing to go with that idea? Phil Zimmerman is about to find out.

Would you eat a strange new food that was designed by an extraterrestrial? Phil is faced with this question and more when Jake Sombrero, an alien scientist walks into his office. There are many things about Jake that Phil finds to be his uncanny resemblance to a famous fitness guru; his apparent lack of personal hygiene and nauseating stench; not to mention various other stomach-turning habits. Jake tells Phil that physical appearance has no meaning on his world. Jake has also come to genetically engineer a revolutionary new food source that will end world hunger on Earth. The question is, will anybody eat it?

A humerous and thought-provoking science fiction novelette.

I loved this book and was disappointed when it was over. It was witty, funny, and thought provoking. I could literally smell the stinky Jake Sombrero as I read! I really liked how the author made me think ouside the box when it comes to how life would be in a future earth with out-of-this-world aliens living among us. Good read. Easy flow. Fun and fast!

REVIEW
It was read on March 31th, 2012; I rate it three stars.
A suggestion I make to everyone is not to read with a headache. I tried to do it and I ended up not fully appreciating this story. Not being my favorite genre also didn’t facilitate the reading.
To tell the truth, I found the story lacking in action and it provided too many details that makes the reader lose a little interest.
On the other hand, certain views of the author regarding to human society are educational and interesting. It is also worth noting the immense creative capacity of the author, after all she was able to create a vast universe full of details to receive her story.
In the end, I can only say that I pass any Sombrero chickens.

This book had some good parts, but overall it wasn't my cup of tea. A little too weird and the end was a little flat.
