Glad this was compiled and grateful for a longer dedicated account of Dean’s life. Though grateful for it, I still felt weird for some reason - parts were overly academic (intro and conclusion essays were kinda hollow, footnotes to tell us what things are made me feel dumb and most weren’t necessary) and wondered how the translation well… translated! Her wit and intelligence speaks for itself - does not need footnotes. Didn’t surpass Hilton Als’ work except for including archival material. Would have appreciated oral history but people might have just started name dropping Factory people. Dean’s electric writing and presence shines through. Fascinating life and voice.
A captivating glimpse into the art and film scene in New York during Andy Warhol's era. This book offers a compelling retelling of Dorothy’s full and fascinating life, and I'm so glad the author took the time to share her story.
