Be swept away by another evocative Greek Island tale from the bestselling author of Summer in Sorrento.
Olivia has had the worst year of her life. Her fiancé abandoned her with only weeks to go before their wedding and she’s just been overlooked for promotion at work. So when her generous aunt suggests some time away from it all, and offers her little time-share cottage on the Greek island of Santorini, she is thrilled to accept. Determined to mend her broken heart, regain her lust for life and try to enjoy the best of what the beautiful island has to offer, Olivia is entranced by Santorini upon arrival. But just as she finally begins to feel the weight of her troubles lift, another surprise awaits....
Novelist Ben is under pressure. His next book is due at his publishers soon, but he still has no idea what he’s going to write about. So when his agent suggests a jaunt to a cosy Greek cottage, he hopes such beautiful and inspirational surroundings will go a long way towards unblocking him. He’s never been to Santorini, but intends to make the most of the peace and quiet and find the inspiration he needs to write. What Ben doesn’t expect upon arrival is to the find the cottage already occupied. By a pretty Londoner who is horrified that her little piece of Santorini heaven has somehow been double-booked ...
The story was a simple and upbeat holiday romance. Unfortunately the editing was terrible, grammatical errors throughout and clunky prose that read poorly and really distracted from the story. It’s a shame, as it’s the kind of quick light story that is great to read on holiday when you have a couple of hours to relax.
I just love Melissa hill’s bitesize escapism books. This is the second one i have read since in lockdown. I just love how i can read a book in a couple of days, ( i am a slow reader lol). I love holidaying in the Greek islands and it didn’t disappoint me in transporting me there. I loved the description of the place, the colour of the architecture an the descriptions of the fauna. I felt i was right there with Olivia and Ben in their villa, on their veranda, walking along the beach and enjoying the restaurants.
Throughout this novella i have been willing Ben and Olivia to fall in love. And it actually happened. But i would like to see a sequal, to see if they ended up together or not.
This story is another lovely, heartwarming story from Melissa and i truly recommend it.

Editing was terrible and it was impossible to read. I did get through it, but the plot didn’t seem to follow any kind of order or have any depth at all. You don’t know why the 2 main characters should be together and yet they start a romance at the end with no build up. Overall, the only reason I finished this book is because I read it while I’m Santorini so it was fun to feel the setting of the book in real time
Lovely description of how to enjoy the best holiday, very short book though, only took one night to read. I might read the next in the Island series but for now I've switched to a lengthier read to get my teeth into.
Book was ok nothing too exciting ,read it in a couple of hours ,well written likeable characters ,have been to Santorini so described it well so the book was centered in a beautiful location so fantastic place to fall in love ,good summer read
This story is poorly written and even contains some typing errors. Whilst the inevitable romance is carefully crafted, information about the island is superficial and opportunities to develop a sense of place are sorely missed.
I loved this book set in santorini I would love to go there one day as it sounds amazing. Would definately recommend this and will be seeing what other books this author has written.
