As a reporter for the Wakefield Post, Harper Erkstine has seen everything. From murders to robberies, all of her recent stories have ended with tragic consequences so great, that she began to question if she made the right career choice for herself.

While all of her friends were dating, or going to clubs, she was winning journalism awards for covering the latest drive-by shooting or a home invasion that cost someone she knew, their lives.

She loved her job, it was rewarding to be a crime solver and get to the truth of the matter. As much as she loved her job, but the hours of a Metro beat reporter began to descend her into burn out mode.

She craved balance. A break, a welcome distraction every now and then. She forgot what it was like to have fun, to take a breath, smell the roses.

Was it wrong to want a great career and to have some kind of a personal life? She couldn’t remember the last time she had a date or danced with someone from the opposite sex.
In the middle of working on a missing person’s story that has rocked her town to the core, Harper decides as a favor to her friend and colleague to do a feature on local an up and coming rock band, called ‘Crave.’

It was a break from her routine, but Harper soon discovers that this band may have ties to the missing person, not only does she question why, but she also finds there is more to this band than just their music?

As a child, multi-published author Ty Langston loved to read about dragons and knights so much that one day, her grandmother told her to "just write about them."

So she did.

From that day forward, she never left home without her pen, a notebook, and some kind of music playing in the background. Her love of reading expanded from fantasy into science fiction, and eventually into paranormal and contemporary romance.

She also writes under the pen name of Piper Reece. Ty enjoys spending time with friends and family.

I actually don't know where to start with this review! It drew me in instantly as I am a big sucker for rock star romances. Any hot man that can successfully pull off leather gets a big thumbs up from me!

"...he appeared to be slightly taller than the others with shoulder length-brown locks that framed his chiseled face. His dark eyes captivated and taunted her. The more she looked at them, the more they held her in their grip, opening a window into her soul."

*SWOON*

Ty Langston's version of the rock star romance story had more than one other theme running through it which, I admit, I was sceptical about. But, by the end I didn't want the book to actually end!

First of all we meet Harper, she's living her dream of being a journalist. She wants to put the world to rights one article at a time, solving one crime at a time and is persuaded into reviewing a local band, Crave, by her best friend and colleague, Ellen. This is alongside her current work on the mysterious disappearance of Darien, a local 18 year old teenager associated with the band she's off to see perform.

"The town was devastated. Things like this never happened in the large suburban area of Wakefield."

Cass - the gorgeous lead singer and front man of Crave - and Harper meet and it's an instant connection. I know what you're thinking - "aren't they always instant connections?" Well, not in this case! Cass doesn't feel connections to people often. We're lucky readers for experiencing him finding someone he wants to keep around!

"His vocals entrap you - such raw sensuality that I don't think you could even deny. The man is a drug on two legs."

"Never had she felt such a connection with a person. But that was the question. Was he a person? Was he human? What exactly was he?"

Harper tries to find out more clues and hints as to where Darien could possibly be and unearths and a big secret and, to me, a huge twist in the storyline including an extremely dodgy and illusive character called Marcus.

Now, here's the part that shocked me. This book isn't a contemporary romance like I am used to. This is a paranormal romance. We have werewolves, vampires, ultraviolet liquid in vials and silver bullets. I'm not, normally, a fan because I think I won't understand or be able to follow where the author wants to take us. In the instance of Crave this was not the case. Ty wrote the story very well using many characters' thoughts and feelings to help me as a reader fully comprehend where the story was going and how we got to the point we were at.

"Werewolves were something reserved for horror stories and paranormal stories. They don't really exist do they?"

Cass and Harper's relationship flowed through the story very nicely but not without any road bumps. And one of these was Julianne. She had been around for some time and knew Cass' secret. She accepted him and loved him for who he was and although he dismissed her regularly she still hung around waiting for him. You can imagine her chagrin when Harper came onto the scene and quickly penetrated Cass' emotional walls as quickly as she did.

There is a cliffhanger. I abhor cliffhangers but damn it if I didn't message Ty Langston straight away thanking her for re-introducing me to the genre and to tell her I NEEEEEEED the sequel and to know what happens with Cass, Harper and Darien!!

Looking forward to their next 'chapter'!

Harper is an amazing journalist but she seems to be lacking one vital thing in her life… a social life. She is so consumed with her job; she hasn’t taken any time for herself. She doesn’t go out and she doesn’t date. She doesn’t do much else besides work. But she loves her job, so she’s at least got that. Her editors don’t mind asking her to do the extra work because they know she always comes through.

But then she was asked to step outside of her comfort zone at work and cover the music beat for another report who has fallen ill. But she doesn’t write fluff. She writes the breaking news. She is a hard hitting investigator whose most recent work has been covering the disappearance of a missing girl. When her editor gives her a little snap of information regarding a link between the band story and her missing girl story, she goes for it. She can write a fluff piece if it can help get information to find the missing girl, looking for any missing link. Could this band be that link and help her find the girl and break the story?

What Harper is not expecting is the amazingly good-looking lead singer of the band. Of course, she knows that he is hot and he can sing. Everyone loves him from what she can gather. But when she sees him, she is drawn to him. More than that, he is drawn to her. But will the connection that Harper and Cass share push them closer to finding the missing girl or will it put Harper in a great danger.

This book was captivating. It was an easy and quick read. But I wasn’t expecting vampires and werewolves. I wasn’t expecting them but I found the story line quite mesmerizing. I liked the characters and the chance that Harper took with Cass. I enjoyed their chemistry and I enjoyed the way the characters interacted. I would have loved more to the story. It seemed to cover the werewolves and vampires, but it was just a thin slice off the surface of the story behind them. I was also a little surprised that as tough as Harper was how quick she was to forgive Cass each time he asked for it. There was not a lot of angst in that. But I was still drawn to these characters and their story. My favorite part of the book is the scene at the lake, which we are lucky enough to share in the excerpt below.

I liked that there were several little side stories within the big one that all blended together. This makes for a very interesting read for me and it definitely kept my attention through the entire story.

And then it happened… I was reading along, really getting into the story and BAM! THE END! It was quick and abrupt. Crave had a definite shock factor to it and I haven’t quite decided how I feel about it yet. I was expecting so much more in the story when it abruptly ended. So I am not sure how I feel about the way it ended. But it definately left the book with that big WOW moment.

This was the first book I have read by this author and I was very intrigued from Chapter 1. I mean really who wouldn't want to find out more about a gorgeous lead singer of a band in leather pants with a southern accent that makes you melt? Well Cass is that man and he is immediately taken with Harper, the very hardworking journalist doing a feature on the band while also looking for answers on a story of a missing girl. Low and behold, the missing girl, Darien, is a huge fan of the band Crave and was suppose to be at their show the night she disappears and it just so happens that Cass was the last person to speak with her. So Harper sets out to get all the answers, but she gets much more than just simple answers. She is also very attracted and drawn to Cass too, but she soon finds out that Cass is not just the hot, charming lead singer, he is a werewolf and the Alpha of the pack Crave. She also finds out the hard way that Cass has a very mean enemy out to destroy Cass and everyone he cares about. Cass and his pack are determined to protect Harper and find Darien. My opinion of this book was the storyline was great, the characters were awesome, and the chemistry between Harper and Cass were sizzling. I have only a few negatives. There were quite a few grammar and editing issues. The story was too short and left me with a cliffhanger. However, it did leave me really wanting more and really hoping the next one comes quickly! I give this book 4 stars ****

(I received a free copy of this book from INscribe Digital, through NetGalley, in exchange for a review).

(This review may contain spoilers).

I do have a few mixed feelings about this book. I like paranormal romances, but there's the trap of insta!connection that I see used a lot - and I was really disappointed that that happened here. I would have liked to see the relationship grow and have a bit more time spent on it.

When she wasn't going gaga over the hot guys, I did actually like Harper. I liked Cass, too, actually, and Ellen. I just wasn't a fan of the romance and how quickly it all moved.

I think I would have liked a bit more detail about the paranormal creatures. The book was quite short (though it was relatively easy to read) and I felt that a lot was missed out when it could have been further explored.

One of the things about this book I found interesting was the enmity between Marcus and Cass. I would have liked to be shown the events that transpired between them before, rather than be told about them. I also would have liked to know more about the other members of Crave and how the pack was formed.

I liked Darien as a character and I would have liked to see more of her. She seemed quite an interesting, resourceful character.

I would like to read the next book in this series at some point, but I think it would benefit from being longer and with more details about the world and the characters.

Paranormal is not my genre. That being said, I did like this offering from Ty Langston. It was a quick, easy, fast paced read...so fast that I was still trying to turn pages when it ended....
I was expecting a rock star romance, I wasn't expecting vampires and werewolves, but it totally worked. Ms. Langston sucked me in with her carefully drawn, engaging characters and she kept me reading with a well plotted story. There was definitely heat, chemistry and yes, romance. There were smaller stories woven into the book that added depth to the story. The ending though....quick and shocking, and I want more!

Harper is a newspaper reporter who's story about a missing teenager gets her involved in the search to find her. As a side assignment, she covers a rock concert for a sick coworker and ends up coming face to face with the lead singer of the band Crave, Cass.

Cass is not at all what he seems and Harper is soon drawn into a world she knows nothing about.

What to say about this book??? Based on the synopsis, it was nothing like what I was expecting. This is a paranormal romance with werewolves and vampires. It is a super short read so not a lot of time is spent developing the characters which made them all difficult to connect with let alone like. There is not much "romance" to the romance and it ends in a big cliffhanger. I was left feeling kind of like...I am not even sure what I just read.

My thoughts:

Quick hook or slow starter? 2(I was never really hooked, only finished it because I was reading for review.)
Character development: 2
Level of Romance between characters: 2.5
Passion/Heat level: 2 (a few kisses, a closet encounter that lasts about a paragraph and a dream is all you get...don't be fouled by this books cover)
Angst/Heartbreak: 2.5(not enough time is spent on the character development for you to care what happens to them.)
Cliffhanger?: Yes, it just ends. The author could have made this a longer much more developed book and completed the story without making the reader wait for another book.

Overall, this one just wasn't for me. I think this may be the lowest rating I have ever given a book which makes me sad but I never really connected with the characters and I didn't really care for the story.

What, really but no. Crave is a perfect name for this book because it leaves you that way. I didn’t read anything about the book before I dove right in and im kind of glad I did, story took me by surprise. Crave, a hot new band has secrets, secrets that no one will understand. Once I got into the secret I have to admit I was a bit surprise (remember I didn’t read the book description). I was a bit worried it would be like every other book, and am glad to say I was wrong. I truly like Crave, I love how the story was gradual with so much information. Your given meaningful history in such a way you didn’t get bored. As the story gets starts to develop and you flying through words to see whats going to happen…booom, its over. AHHH lol I need more.
Great story, great characters and from where it leaves off Crave can only get better and I'm excited to see where Ty takes it.

Thanks netgalley for a free read in exchange for a review.
I wanted to like this book but the plot was too damn shaky. The author started out with a real hot boy band, with shifter part being brought out later on. I just didn't like the characters. Harper was a reporter who worked days on end and with little sleep, but could cry at the drop of a hat? Cass was a southern drawl hottie, but he left Harper swimming in a river. I thought that scene was....dumb. I didn't get the joke about the difference between the rivers. Wtf? I wasn't too impressed although the story line looked intriguing I just don't think the author managed to pull it off. Then it ended with a cliffhanger.......overall entertainment is two stars.

Sorry to say, not a read for me. Started ok with an investigative reporter but somehow - I couldn´t mash the contemporary mystery with the paranormal.
