Protectors of humanity. Sworn to uphold the peace. Oath bound to keep the existence of demons a secret.
Katy is an ordinary girl living an ordinary life…or at least, that’s what she thinks right up until she’s abducted and for no apparent reason.
Demon Chaser Cole rescues Katy from the claws of the Alpha of a resident demon wolf pack. Hunted by Bain and his pack he must try and find out why the wolves are willing to risk a two hundred year long standing agreement with the Demon Chasers in order to have her.
The Chaser suspects that Katy is not as innocent as what she seems. Cole had better move fast though because the longer he’s with the raven haired beauty the more impossible he finds it to resist her.

This had potential but it kinda fell flat for me. They were strangers thrown into a situation together. Then there was distrust and then in about a day they were in love. It was all so rushed and there were no real emotions or feeling with these two. In the end this was just okay.
This simply sensational supernatural story is deliciously naughty and irresistible!
Phenomenal paranormal themes interlaced with seductively erotic touches, form the backbone of what is set to become an exciting new series. Drawn to the cover of this tempting book, I was lured into the most darkly magnetic narrative that’s full of wonderful premise and originality. As a fan of books by Larissa Lone, Patricia Briggs and other paranormal romance/ fiction I could not help but be intrigued by Omega. The entire concept of ‘Demon Chasers’ is truly inspired, as there is tough competition with so many books on Wolf-shifters…ever since Twilight.
There were two aspects of this story that caught my interest and pulled me into the intricately woven tale; with (1). The sparkling connection between Demon Chaser Cole and Katy {the girl whom he rescues from the clutches of an Alpha!} and (2). The history behind the Wolf Pack and the friction between the Alpha’s and Omegas. As the mystery unravelled you gain a sense of how extensive the background history of Charlene’s creation is, and how vividly realised the world of the Demon chasers is! I simply was unable to resist such a magnetic story of mind-blowing premise that left me in awe as to how engaging and enthralling the storyline was.
With a mischievous grin I must state that this has to be my ‘guilty pleasure’ and sinfully delicious treat! Charlene’s compelling writing style is superb, and her characters are so vibrant and enigmatic {with certainly an air of mystery about them} that I couldn’t help but be drawn into the story. Omega is an outstanding debut that’s beguiling and richly imagined. I cannot thank the author enough for providing me with an e-copy of her book, which was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Instant attraction. Instant lust. No reaction to being ripped from the streets to be raped, and bred. Lousy dialogue. Werewolves. Sort of. Humans. Not quite.
OMG, that was just one long series of cliché tropes, one after another after another. The whole thing is basically the old stand-by 'woman is the mysterious Chosen One, but doesn't know it. She is hunted by the baddy that wants to claim her and rescued by the hero who actually does claim her. In the mean time, she passes out a lot and does stupid things like insist on trying on clothing prior to purchase while being actively hunted, giving the baddies time to find her again. Because obviously a good, sexy fit is more important than anything else, in the moment.'
It starts out with a bad case of the 'for some reasons.' For some reason he wanted to protect her. For some reason he was unaccountably attracted to her. For some reason he trusted her. For some reason he told her things he'd never told anyone else. For some reason he HAD TO HAVE HER. For some reason she felt safe with him. For some reason she was attracted to him, even though they'd just met. For some reason she was wet for him. For some reason she HAD TO HAVE HIM. Just to be clear, from a readers perspective, 'for some reason' is never enough of a motivating factor.
After the 'for some reasons,' we moved on to the fact that the plot basically boils down to who gets to have sex with the girl. Honestly, haven't we moved past heroines being reduced to their sexual availability and heroes being the man who wins the big P in the end?
Then, of course, we had sex by the numbers. 1. kiss. 2. sucking nipples. 3. fingering clit. 4. slip a finger in and be shocked at the wetness. 4. mutterings about being beautiful and 'so tight.' 5. oral sex and instant orgasm number one. 6. PnV penetration, instant orgasm number two. 7. Roaring male climax and instant female orgasm number three. All in about a paragraph, so no room for any emotional build-up or anything and all this after thinking about 'pounding her without foreplay.' (Oh, yeah, so sexy. Argh. No.) Tell me fellow readers, how many times have YOU read this EXACT SAME sex scene? I know I've probably read it a hundred times.
But there are still more cliché tropes to be had, because we move right into the 'I love him, but I have to give him up' and 'I love her, but I she'll be better off without me.' No one discusses this. No one admits their feelings; all those feelings that developed in about two days out of freakin' no where. There is no chemistry between these two. And of course, we end with her going to him and demanding he accept her. Cliché! Overused! Horrible!
And all of this is decorated with writing like this: "Probably from the fact that he could smell her from here, like a summer breeze and candle lit dinners but also of red lace and leather." Someone want to tell me what that actually smells like and does red lace really smell differently than, say, blue or white? I noticed a distinct lack of commas too.
I mean, I know these kinds of stories keep selling, so they keep getting written and if they're your cup of tea, by all means have at it. But for me, I don't know if I can run in the other direction fast enough. If this hadn't been read as part of a challenge I almost certainly wouldn't have finished it.
I started this book after reading the Stolen by the Alpha Wolf series and Chosen by the Vampire Kings Series.
Loved those two series but some how was disappointed by OMEGA :( Hard to get through. To much fillings to keep it interesting for me to keep reading and struggled to finish it. Really bad because I really liked the Alpha Wolf series and Chosen by the Vampire Kings Series very much!
Not quite on par with Charlene Hartnady's latest serials. Nevertheless, this short story - which can be read either as a standalone or as the first installment in the Demon Chasers serial - was an entertaining read about demon wolves, the task force that's policing them & raw, animalistic mating instincts. Both of the unwilling and extreeeemely willing kind;-)
I really love all the other series written by Charlene Hartnady, this one not so much. When I have to make myself finish a book it means it's just not that good, unfortunately this was the case with this one. Perhaps the next book it's better but I'm not enticed to reading it.
This book is awesome! Love the characters, Katy and Cole with the chemistry from the moment when Katy woke up in the car.
Katy is an Omega [Half human, hald demon wolf] but she believes herself to be a normal human, she knows nothing of demons wolves or anything else paranormal and she’s completely blind to her real nature by her mother. Her father died long ago, so she didn't know what she was until now.
Cole, brood male and hero in the novel. He is a omega as well, so he works as a demon chaser. He saves Katy along with his sister; Ash. And is now on the run with Katy.
This story was action packed with danger around every corner. Demon Chaser, Cole had his hands full with his uninformed half human charge, Katy. As Katy's life is endangered, Cole has to attempt to protect her and eliminate the greatest threat to her future, Bain, the Alpha of the demon wolf pack. Cole and Katy's attraction toward each other was left to simmer until it reach combustion leading to sizzling results. This was an exciting story filled with strong characters, a very interesting plot, and steamy romance, all pluses in my opinion!!!!!
Whew , who knew going out for a drink could have such life altering effects. The poor woman goes from getting coffee to being kidnapped, hunted, romanced, hunted some more, questioned about her humanity, in a fight to the death, and lastly redefining who she is as a person. Keep in mind all of this started with a drink at a bar, and turning some loser down, who wanted to buy her a drink.
While I wait for the 5th book in another of Charlene Hartnady’s series to come out in sept. 2020, I decided to go back and read the first series I could find on Amazon. Omega has a quick start and the writing style feels like the first book is truly an introduction to a new world (just enough information to peak your interest).
Utter dribble. Only reason this wasn't a DNF was because it was so short and I had nothing else to do.
No world building, no explanation, story line jumps, mediocre sex scenes. Glad it was free and I won't bother with the rest of this series. Willing to give the author another chance though.
Love the ending. Lol is what makes to my opinion the book to be good. I like the drama and went straight to the point. Love it, no walking around the bushes site of speak. Good book, good book. 😁😁😁😁
Omega, book 1 of Charlene Hartnady's Demon Chaser series has great characters. It's a short book so you can read it in a day. This book has a completely different feel from her other books. Maybe because it's meant to be a quick read. Still s good book.
I think the writing was well done, but the characters coming together just didn't work for me. Seemed too forced vs something that would actually happen.
This is a quick short read that i personally enjoyed. Katy is abducted by the Alpha and saved by a demon chaser Cole. They have instant attraction and you will be rooting for them before the book is over!
Omega is book one in the Demon Chaser series by Charlene Hartnady. It’s a deliciously naughty and irresistible read! A promising start to an interesting series. It does have that insta-love quality too it, but despite that I still found myself pulled in and enjoy the book.
Katy, the heroine, and Cole, our hero where ok characters to read about nothing new that stood out about them. We don’t get much depth or development with either of them. Katy and Cole are thrown together when Cole is following the Alpha of the local demon wolf pack and he rescues her from being kidnaped. What happens next is instant lust between our leads. The sexual attraction/tension was enjoyable to read as was the sex scenes. Nothing to risqué, but still very steamy. What made this satisfying was learning about the history behind the Wolf Pack and the friction between the Alpha’s and Omega’s. The entire concept of ‘Demon Chasers’ was intriguing. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and the little bit of action we get. Last we get a sneak peak into book 2 and now I am interested to read what happens next.
I got this as a free read off Amazon and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it even with insta-love quality to it. If you are looking for a nice quick read with some steamy scenes, then this will fit the bill.
This book is AWESOME! I recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal books!! You can feel the attraction between Cole and Katy like you were hit with a Mack truck. The chemistry between these two isn't something to be taken lightly.
Katy is an Omega but she believes herself to be a normal human, she knows nothing of demons, or wolves that are demons and she’s completely blind to her real nature. When Cole and his sister help her escape the kidnapper she finds out things about her life that she didn't know and she remembers some things that she didn't even know she was made to forget. All she knows is that she wants to be with Cole.
Cole is a demon chaser and a very good one, he has been doing this his whole life and he knows that if he can just keep his ring on he will be just fine, until he finds Katy being taken by an Alpha who, is to be believed to have hurt human women in the past. When he finds out the truth about Katy his inner wolf knows that she is supposed to be his, but when they get together in every sense of the word he thinks that she should be with someone who will treat her like the queen he sees her as.
The book has everything a GREAT paranormal book should have, mystery, romance, action, and battles. Omega is wonderfully written, the story line flows beautifully, and the characters are believable. The book pulls you into it and you almost feel as if you are in the book right alongside Cole and Katy rooting for them all the way.
