Robert M. Kerns (or Rob if you ever meet him in person) is a geek, and he claims that label proudly. Most of his geekiness revolves around Information Technology (IT), having over fifteen years in the industry; within IT, he especially prefers Servers and Networks, and he often makes the claim that his residence has a better data infrastructure than some businesses.

Beyond IT, Rob enjoys Science Fiction and Fantasy of (almost) all stripes. He is a voracious reader, with his favorite books too numerous to list.

Rob has been writing for over twenty years, and "Awakening" is his debut novel.

While I liked the story, Jake despite the claim of not being a god, is, at the end of this book is as close to one as a being can get. The fact that he can at a whim and apparently no detriment to him, even turn back time to save people from death—even his enemies makes him just too unrealistic a person to make him relatable. Nobody is that good of a person. He is disgustingly altruistic making him look more like a boy scout than Superman. It was a lot more believable when he overextended himself and needed time to recover but by the end of the book, even altering reality to fix two problems at once are without consequences.

Great read

Alternate universe, magic, hero's journey, fantasy races, monsters, ftb sex

Jake aka Thornton aka Gaius develops a great deal in this novel, and based on his upbringing, Jake wants to help the helpless, step in where the aftermath will result in huge loss of life. Not a bad life goal.

Interesting cliffhanger. Honestly, the world building, character development, and pacing all worked seamlessly. The story was engaging. Above average editing. Ready for book 3.

Oooooo

Well what can i say builds on the first book, you get lovey snuggles and harsh reality with idiots doing what idiots do when threatened by the status quo, all in a page turner of whats going to happen next i will just read the next chapter and go to sleep but the next and the next etc.

Can't wait for #3

Really enjoyed the 1st 2 books in this new series and can't wait to see what happens between these 2 relatives in the books to follow. I hope there is more interaction with both sets of parents in future books.

Typical Kerns

Once again a great start to Robs series. This second book is a usual build-up to the finale or even a fourth quadrilogy. I've given up double guessing the man. Seat belts on, he doesn't mess around. Bring it!
