I might be a hothead on the ice, but outside the arena, I’m an easygoing guy.
There are only a few people I can’t stand, and Blair Westwood is one of them.
From the moment we met, I knew she was an entitled brat who thought she could get her way because of who her father was.
Everything changes when an injury gets me benched, and I end up going on a school trip with her.
She sees me at my worst, but instead of using it to her advantage, she helps me.
Now I can’t get her out of my head. It’s driving me insane. This isn’t just hate turning into lust—it feels like so much more. But even if we can get past our differences, there are dark secrets lurking in the shadows, ready to tear us apart.
That won’t stop me though. I want Blair—the former bane of my existence—and I never quit when things get hard.
This series appears to be your typical college hockey romance until the last 30-20%, and then it's either kidnapping/being held at gunpoint by a crazy stalker or being promised to a russian mafia guy/blackmailed/threatened to be killed 😅👁️👄👁️
The amount of drama this group of college kids experience is unmatched, so take it how you will 🙈👉👈
All in all, cute but something was missing 🤷🏼♀️
The heroine was great, she had grace, backbone and spine, without being crass, or ott "I'm the kween of the world" attitude. But the author CLEARLY was inspired by Blaire Waldorf when she wrote this heroine: - named Blaire ✅ - surname starting with a W ✅ - brunette ✅ - wears headbands ✅ - prefers preppy style clothing ✅ - garter belts is an entire personality ✅ - manipulative mother who critiques Everything (looking at you, pilot Eleanor Waldorf 👁️👁️) ✅
Hmm. Not my favorite book like the first book of the series. I hate clingy doormat heroines like this heroine right here🥵 And I CAN’T STAND a hero who is childish and can’t make up his mind. He always gaslighting the heroine which is very annoying to read… IT’S A SLOW BURN but tbh for me personally the slow burn is hella annoying as fvck 😣😢🤯 I CAN’T FVCKING STAND WITH A COUPLE THAT ONE MINUTE THEY WANT EACH OTHER AND SOON AFTER ALREADY HATE EACH OTHER AGAIN AND WANT EACH OTHER AGAIN. LIKE MAKE YOUR MIND!!!! IT’S LIKE READING CHILDISH ROMANCE 🙁
‼️‼️‼️HUGE SPOILER BELLOW 🔥🔥
I’m gonna write it down the story about their relationship and how it started and how I’m annoyed with it. You will understand once you read what I’m saying. SO THE STORY STARTS WITH the heroine and hero past life and how they meet for the first time in class together two years ago. It started with them being enemy and hated each other. The hero secretly and childishly hates the heroine because her father is the former boss of his dad and also her dad who got the company bankrupt. And also for the heroine being rich he said. Okay weird. FAST FORWARD TO THE FUTURE⏩️⏩️ TWO YEARS LATER⏩️⏩️ The heroine and hero meet again at a club for their friend’s birthday party which is a friend from the first book. and that changes everything. And before this club scene happened, the heroine goes to a party and meet the hero there and kissed his brother. Which is annoying cause the hero at the party was literally bullying her but she can’t fight back so she did that. Weak woman😒 But when the heroine kissed his brother, it actually also changes everything. Because in the end we read that at the party which is also 2 years later but before the club scene when the heroine kissed the brother, it made the hero went celibate for a long time for the heroine. Like months but I don’t know the exact time. But months. It made the hero don’t want to hookup with anyone else because he knows deep down he wants the heroine so badly and that was the “wake up call” for him… BACK TO THE CLUB SCENE: The hero actually made a first possessive here at the club when someone tries to flirt with the heroine. ONLY THAT. But it made the heroine thought about it a lot. And then weeks later, the heroine and hero have to pair up as partners by their professor to go to DC for economics forum representing the university. JUST THE TWO OF THEM😅 After the professor told them that, they went to class. AND DURING CLASS, THE HERO WAS TALKING AND FLIRTING WITH SOMEONE ELSE. STRIKE ONE LOL. Days later they went to DC together. They meet at the airport and the heroine actually paid for the hero’s ticket to upgrade to business class. During the flight, they are next to each other. The hero was having panic attacks because of the turbulence, so the heroine calmed him down by soothing words and holding hand. But also the heroine tried to closely touch to his crotch which is annoying. After the flight, they went to the hotel and got the same room together because it was full. When the heroine was in her separate room, the hero got bored so he went down to the hotel bar. He then saw the heroine crying and alone at the bar so he goes to her. He asked what happened but she ignores him and run away. He caught her running but then he got injured of running cause he still recovering from the last playoff games before DC. The heroine helped him to their room and also helped him by messaging his back. The hero even touched the heroine’s leg when she was messaging him but then she finished and goes to her room… THE NEXT DAY the heroine alone went early to the economics forum. There’s a line for registration, she saw THE HERO AGAIN FLIRTING WITH SOME WOMAN. STRIKE TWO🥲 She then met some random guy who asked her questions but it was cut short cause the hero interrupts them. He got jealous lol. After that, they separate because they have to do the presentation. Once the heroine’s presentation is over, her mom texted her saying that someone her mom wants her to date is already at the forum economics to see her… She meet with the guy because he saw her already but also she doesn’t want to go out with him. She made excuses of asking her friend aka the hero so she can escape from the other guy. She called the hero where he is so that she can go to him along with the guy and they meet. BUT WHEN THE HEROINE SAW THE HERO, THE HERO WAS WITH THE OTHER WOMAN BEFORE AND ACTUALLY WAS TRYING TO HOOK UP WITH HER SO THAT HE SAYS HE CAN FORGOT ABOUT HER (his pov said)🤮 STRIKE THREE!!!!🥵 All of them went to lunch together but the guy and the woman from the hero already like each other and flirting. The hero and heroine went to the hotel after that. At the hotel, the heroine claimed to be stressed cause her mom so she suggest them to have tequila contest to where they got drunk but not super drunk though. They got to dancing but the heroine is the first one to made a move to give her butt to the hero. And also made the first move to sit at the hero’s lap afterwards… The hero kissed her first and then they make out and the hero made her come once and he also come in the pants lol. They went separate ways again after that and the next early morning the heroine book a early flight to go back alone without the hero notice. The hero claimed to make the heroine remember what happened every day though. But they pretty much ignored each other especially the hero didn’t even made a effort to see her either… DAYS LATER they meet up again because of the professor again. They’ll have to pair up again for a project. AND SINCE THAT, IT CHANGES EVERYTHING… They got more into each other and slowly and annoyingly be together… I wrote annoyingly because it was not a easy and great road to read… Many confusion happening and so wrong things happening… Read bellow 🥲
I tried to like this book but it shows that I can’t and it just not for me…. I’m glad the first book of the series is way better 😌 In the beginning of the book i was not enjoying it at all guys tbh…. I was more annoyed and hate the characters. Damn the hero have the same name as me but he was not even my favorite one here 😥 I know that many people love slow burn like this but for me personally I don’t like it. I despise it so much😩 And I know that book series can’t be all the same cause every characters is different…. But at least be like the first book of the series! Safe and romantic and no annoyance like this one! And tbh this book right here is actually pretty toxic and heavy. TOO MUCH OF PUSHING AWAY AND CHILDISH THOUGHTS AND WORST: DOORMAT HEROINE 😒😒😒 This second book is like a nightmare for me 🥲
And also what disgusted me is that the HEROINE IS WAY MORE POSSESSIVE TO THE HERO. Not the hero himself which is EEEWWW 🤮🤮🤮 NOT ONLY THAT SHE IS POSSESSIVE but also she let her guard down so many times for the hero which is again, EWWW 🫤 THE HEROINE IS THE ONE WHO ALWAYS SUCK HIS C*CK THE MOST RATHER THAN THE HERO WHICH IS ANOTHER LEVEL OF ANNOYANCE 😖😅
EVEN WHEN THEY STARTING TO GET SERIOUS AND EVEN CLAIMED TO MAKE IT LAST, THE HERO STILL FLIRTS. YES HE FLIRTS WITH ANOTHER WOMENS AND A PUCK BUNNY. LIKE WTF? The hero is like so stupid. One day he say he will never let the heroine go, yes he said that to himself but then the next day, he flirts with someone else. And this happens not only once, BUT MANY TIMES. Unfortunately… My heart and mind was infuriating when this happened many times during the beginning of the book throughout the middle 😥 I hate heroes that are like that😒
The hero never ever EVER ask her to be his girlfriend or ask her to be serious with him. But then he blames her that she doesn’t want a serious relationship with him? Have you even ask her? Oh nope. He knows for sure by his words that the heroine is into him. He said that many times. But even though he knows it, HE NEVER EVER DID ASK HER. He only say that the heroine is the only one she wants but tbh for me that’s not enough tho. That’s not promising… Then he blames the heroine for not wanting a serious relationship. Like bro you never even ask her so how she supposed to know how you feel?! I LIKE IT WHEN THE HERO ASK THE HEROINE FIRST OR REALLY CLAIMED HER OFFICIALLY. NOT GIVING HER MIX SIGNALS AND NOT A PROMISING WORDS 🫤
The first hero from the first book is all serious and commitment to the heroine. BUT NOT THIS ONE. IT’S ONLY HALFWAY THROUGH THE BOOK THAT HE ADMITTED HIS TRUE FEELINGS TO THE HEROINE AND TO EVERYONE. But before? Nope. And that was a long time! In those times he was flirting with any chick that come close to him, give them the flirt eyes, even talked to them, and he give the heroine’s mix signals and being childish about it. The way the hero have the audacity to be like, “i thought i had been obvious” about his love for her crap😫🥵 DAMM HOW THE GIRL CAN KNOW THAT WHEN YOU NEVER SAY IT? WE JUST HAVE TO FIGURE OUT BY OURSELF? THE GIRL CAN’T EVEN READ HIS FVCKING MIND…
WHEN THE HERO AND HEROINE HAVE S3X FOR THE FIRST TIME, the heroines goes away for family emergency but also the hero didn’t even chase her! NOPE. He said he doesn’t want to beg for a girl even the heroine herself that he claimed many times to his POV he wants her so bad😒 He got drunk instead but thankfully he got drunk alone and didn’t touch anyone else…
WHEN THE HERO FLIRT WITH A PUCK BUNNIES AND THIS IS AFTER THEY HAD S3X! 😖 THE HEROINE WAS MAD BUT AFTERWARDS FORGAVE HIM WHEN HE GASLIGHT HER🫤 THE ANNOYANCE SCENES OF THIS BOOK IS LIKE A FREAKIN NIGHTMARE 😫😫
Gonna make it short cause as you can read, I don’t like this book. I only like the first book even more than this one🥲 ‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS. Triggers: Violence, bad parenting, alcohol, drugs, little mafia enemy and childish couple lol. MANY PUSHING AWAY FROM BOTH. CLINGY DOORMAT HEROINE AND STUPID. STUPID HERO WHO IS POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE BUT ALSO KNOWN AND FAMOUS FOR BEING A MANWHOR3 EVEN TALKED ABOUT IT MANY TIMES TO THE HEROINE WHICH IS ANNOYING AS FVCK!!! Even his friends talked about it in front of the heroine. Yeah shove it to my face will ya😥 MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HEROINE EEEW WOMAN HAVE SOME DIGNITY 😒🤮 And little from the hero… They went to dates together and great s3x and great chemistry. BUT BECAUSE AT THE BEGINNING AND HALFWAY THROUGH THE BOOK THE HERO ALWAYS HATES THE HEROINE FOR HER FATHER SINS AND BLAMING HER FOR MANY THINGS AND EVEN CALLED HER UPTIGHT WITCH MANY TIMES AND PUSHING AWAY AND STILL LIKES TO FLIRT WITH OTHER WOMEN AND GASLIGHTING THE HEROINE AND THE HEROINE BEING STUPID… it made the whole story like the whole romance book, NOT ROMANTIC FOR ME. It just lost the spark of it if you know what i mean🥲🥵😥 It loses the light of the romance you know… For me it is like that😩 ONLY ALMOST AT THE END OF THE BOOK THAT THE ROMANCE OF THEM IS LEVELED UP AND THE HERO EVEN PURSUE HER SOO BADLY 😅😅😅 WELL TOO LATE GENIUS… NO CHEATING. DUAL POV BUT HONESTLY THEY’RE POV IS CHILDISH AND ANNOYING😫 One day they want each other and the next day they hated each other and both can’t be adults like they should and both are not wise 🥵 They got separated when they were official but only for few days because the heroine got engaged with someone else. But the heroine never even touch him and also the hero didn’t go to anyone else… GREAT S3X SCENES… but unfortunately I can’t even enjoy the hot steamy moments because afterwards both enjoyed the s3x but at the same time they thought the other one doesn’t want the s3x and other one thought isn’t real or not… THIS HAPPENED MANY TIMES LIKE THEY’RE NOT COMMUNICATING🥲🥲🥲 BAD COMMUNICATIONS EVEN FROM THE BEGINNING 😥😥
HAPPY ENDING. Four years later, married.
It safe to say that this book is not great for me. I don’t like it when the hero flirts with many woman when the heroine can’t even do that cause she is also obsessed with the hero. But the heroine is more obsessed than the hero which is super annoying. OVERALL THIS BOOK IS JUST NOT FOR ME 🙏🏼 I RATHER READ THE FIRST BOOK OF THE SERIES CAUSE IT’S WAY BETTER AND SOOOO SAFE THAN THIS ONE 🙏🏼
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I just finished my ARC copy of Play it Hard. 😊 As much as I loved Noah and Gia (because let’s face it, Noah is just so dreamy 😍), I can’t deny my love for Blair and Alex!!! 😍😩 Their chemistry from Noah and Gia’s book is off the charts! I always looked forward to their banter! It was kind of weird to read how sweet Alex can be to human Blair. I love the Epilogue! I had to go back to Noah and Gia’s because I didn’t think they got married in their book 😅🤣 I love Logan’s speech! It was hilarious. The epilogue did bot give away who was their love interest unfortunately 😅😂
I just hate that Ryder had to sacrifice so much for other people’s happiness and to spare Gia (although it turned out great for Gia). 😩 And OMG I did not expect Ryder to be kissing Noah’s sister in the preview of his book!!! I’m assuming it was Nicole since she was the one mentioned in Play it Hard. 😅 I had a hunch it was Noah’s sister and Ryder but now I’m really curious how their story would pan out. 🫣

This was a great read, I loved Blair and Alex-the sparks between them were so hot! I really disliked Blairs parents and felt so sad for what she had to go through because of them. Gia was right about Alex but I'm not going to say any more than that!
Alex and Blair are hotter than I could’ve imagined and their story had me completely obsessed and I couldn’t put the book down.
Alex is broody and has a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to Blair. They are oil and water and do not like each other. But as they say there is a thin line between love and hate and the line between these two is paper thin!
Alex and Blair find that the hate they held on too was misguided. As they find themselves spending more time together due to school they start to get closer but Blair has secrets that could ruin everything!
I loved the way these two loved and loved hard. I didn’t think Alex could hold that kind of passion but whew was o wrong. He is intense but so gentle when it comes to Blair. Blair is seriously such a strong bad….butt woman! I love that we got to know these two and as we did we see just how well they balance each other out!
The steam in this book is very high. You got angst at the start of the book but once things get SPICY… :) I can say that the super spicy scenes should not be read in public because they will have you blushing and needing a cold splash of water.
With each book you get such a bigger picture of this group and I’m loving the dynamic we are seeing with the group and the personalities of them. It’s easily becoming my favorite series by Hercules!
I have soo many feelings about these two!!!! Alex is our playboy and he definitely lives up to that hype in the previous book and towards the start of this one but Blair throws him completely off kilter. Blair might be rich but she certainly is not spoiled and has her own demons she is battling with her family. These two absolutely hate each other and have been enemies for years until they weren’t.
They have such a tangible chemistry that floats off for he page. They are angsty and also super hard headed at times. You will want to kick them in the shins or slap them up the head a few times while they pretend they aren’t more. They also had so many sweet moments even when in denial too. And the spice is perfect for them as they play. Some of those scenes will definitely keep you blushing.
I loved seeing some our fave Hannford players back again. Noah and Gia are happy and Logan is well Logan LOL. I’ll be interested to see his story with Sophia play out hopefully in a future book. I always knew there was more to Ryder’s story and why he quit. I’m glad we finally know more but now I just want his redemption story and his girl will certainty shake everything up!
Hockey Romance: 4⭐️ 3.5🌶️ Enemies to Lovers who start to sizzle when they’re forced to work together. This book solved some mysteries from book 1, and even though they’re standalones, I’m happy I read them in order.
I'm a pig wallowing in the mud, oblivious to the world, smiling blissfully. --------- Rereading this less than a year later. Do you have a fav fandom, and in this fandom there is this really wild card AU with a character you are obsessed with and a different character or straight up OFC that you easily identify with, and the fic is huge, the writing is not the best, but super engaging, the plot is straight up wild, and in general it's not your jam at all, but you sometimes feel this strong urge to glance at it once in a while to browse through the best scenes, and then you end up reading it since the very beginning again because you want to feel something, and the story brings you comfort, and you feel hopeful and unexplainably content once you are done reading? No? Well, this book is all that for me. --------- It was VERY Character.AI AGAIN, but I was eating this shit up. Yes, the book was quite repetitive, and there were many points from the first book, and I also hate when the heroine is called 'babe' and 'baby girl'. But overall, the fact that the hero looked like he did on the cover got me blind, got me dreamy, got the strongest chokehold on me.
✨Enemies to lovers ✨Reformed playboy ✨Forced proximity ✨It’s always been you
THE TENSION AND THE BANTER BETWEN THESE TWO IS LIKE NO OTHER!!
Even though she lives off of her family’s money, Blair is such a hard worker. She’s incredibly smart and an amazing dancer. Unfortunately, Blair has many secrets that can easily harm her relationship with Alex. I was SHOCKED to see what Blair had to go through growing up and what she continues to deal with in this story. I was so happy to read more about Blair, and I loved how Ryder was very protective of his little sister.
Alex is also a hard worker when it comes to playing hockey and his academics. It’s his dream to get drafted into the NHL with his twin brother, Logan, and they both have worked hard for their spots. Watching Alex come to the realization that he never hated Blair, but instead loved her, melted my heart. He’s a great alpha male who will fight anyone for Blair’s happiness.
Watching Blair care for Alex even in the beginning of the story while on their school trip was so sweet. Rather than making fun of him when he was at his lowest, she helped him. As the story continued, the tension between Blair and Alex was incredible!! From the massage at the hotel, to the being paired for a project, to the auction, the tension kept on building up more and more and I loved every minute of it! The mysterious secret and plot twist caught me completely off guard, but it definitely made me want to keep on reading.
I really enjoyed reading this just as much as Play It Dirty. I absolutely loved reading Blair and Alex’s story! I was sucked into this story from the very beginning. Highly, highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good tension-filled story!
✨ ARC Review ✨ Incoming: another swoony hockey book bf for your roster 😮💨
“So why did you agree to be my date tonight?” “Because I’ve never f*cked anyone I hated before, and I’m curious.”
The banter, the angst, the enemies-to-lovers. Dear reader, you’re in for a ride with these two.
Blair is top of her class, well-off, and has a secret she’d give up everything for. She’s headstrong, sassy, and underneath all of the bravado she holds a big heart. But she doesn’t let just anyone see it and I loved watching her true friends and her new beau bring it out of her. And, *cough cough* the kinks ✨
“That’s it, baby girl. You’re doing so well.”
Alex is also top of the class, a grade-A hockey player, and hater of the Westwoods. He has no shortage of creativity for name calling, comebacks, and econ presentations. But an injury has him cohabiting with the enemy. Who might not be the she-devil after all? His inner turmoil over his feelings that turned into an unbreakable connection was my favorite part of this story. And the mouth on this man 🥵 *not safe for insta*
“Don’t worry, Westwood. I’ll let you lick my stomach next time.”
I love the Hannaford U world. The boys are hard and soft in all the right places. The girls compliment them with their intelligence and quick wit. It’s been a perfect hockey + found family foundation and I’m so excited for the rest of the series!
If you like: 🏒hockey romance 🏒 enemies to lovers 🏒 forced proximity 🏒 bedroom lessons 🏒 forbidden romance Definitely add this book to your library today !!
This story starts with Blair starting college. Her mother visits and shows her true colors immediately (controlling and cruel). Her first day of class she meets Alex, a twin who plays college hockey. He immediately does not like her and you do not find out why until much later in the story. The good- Blair and eventually Alex who are at the core good people. If the author had stuck to basic troupe - enemies to lovers, I would have given it more stars ... However, before it is done you not only have friends to lovers, and Alex and the rest of the team who are mad at Blair's brother for quitting the hockey team for unknown reasons (you find out at the end) but also abusive parents and eventually even the mafia. Yes... the mafia. It tried to do way too many things and way too many questions (i.e. why did her brother quit, why is Blair agreeing to an arranged marriage, why does Alex hate her in the beginning, and why is the mafia dude trying to marry Blair?) It was all over the place which was too bad because if the author had narrowed down the story a little to just a couple of the storylines it would have been better. Also, the resolution to some of the storylines was not great to be honest. A little too easy.
There were some great moments between the characters and nice to see them fall in love.
Also - do read these in order. I did not and that was a mistake. There are a lot of characters referenced here and it is assumed you know who they are. I do not know if I will read this author again due to the story "sprawl". It was just too much.
Play it Hard is the second book in Michelle Hercules Players of Hannaford U Series. It can be read as a standalone but you will get spoilers from the previous and it’s better to read in order for best experience.
Now this book has put Michelle on my auto-buy list…this book IMO was perfection. I am obsessed with hate to love relationships. This story follows Alex and Blair and they are sworn enemies. They have hated each other for a long time and they makes sure the other knows it. But when Alex gets injured, he finds himself sharing a hotel room with Blair during a academic conference for one of their classes, and they share a quick fling. As much as they want to brush it off as a drunken mistake, they can’t stay away from one another. And when Alex finds out that Blair is not spoiled rich little brat that he thought, he does whatever he can to show her how his feelings have changed. This book had a bit of suspense and I was quickly trying to put things together while getting invested in other characters and needing to know their story.
The spice and banter in this book was chef’s kiss!! So much angst at the beginning of the book and then once things got spicy…WOW!! Their chemistry was off the charts, I just loved them together.
I am so invested in this series now and also…Ryder’s story!!! AAAHHHH! I cannot wait to get more hockey from Michelle.
Overall: 5 Spice: 4
Tropes: -Enemies to Lover -Reformed Playboy -Forced Proximity -Forbidden
ALEX!!! He absolutely surprised me in the best way. While he fought hard, he didn’t stand a chance. You could feel the tension between this two when they are introduced in “Play it Dirty” and the enemies to lovers banter in this was top notch.
“ Let me have the full Blair witch blast. I’m ready.”
I knew there was going to be more to Blair then meets the eye and when you really dig in deep into her story and why she does certain things, you really feel for her.
“I’m beginning to think you aren’t a witch, but a vampire. What’s with you chomping on my neck?”
This book had a bit of suspense and I was quickly trying to put things together while getting invested in other characters and needing to know their story. The odds are against them and even when it’s looking impossible for them to achieve their HEA, they keep fighting.
Now on to the spice 🥵 these two were absolutely perfect for each other because they challenge each other and push limits. After Alex finds a certain book and they decide to explore certain ‘kinks’ and man do they bring it.
“On your knees. Crawl to me.”
I am so invested in this series and these characters. I can’t wait to dive back into this world and with that little tidbit at the end with the teasing of Ryders future book.. IM HERE FOR IT.
Enemies to lovers, hockey romance, rich girl poor boy, stupid amount of drama for this group of friends
I read this book decently quick, but I didn't really like it? We have Blair who you just have to imagine Blair from Gossip Girl because that's pretty much her, and Alex, a twin who hates Blair because of her dad being a dick and firing his dad. The communication issues with this couple was so frustrating. No one wanted to admit their feelings and they were possessive with each other at toxic times...Obviously you root for them but at the same time I was kinda over it. Also Alex wasn't really likeable in the beginning (his whole thing with Blair doesn't turn sweet til the last half of the book, and they were hooking up before then) and Blair was kinda predictable, but at least you want her to be happy.
Also I did NOT read the book before and so I didn't know Blair and her brother's drama with the previous couple so that was kinda weird to have to deal with. Plus there's just SO MANY NAMES. THE MALE LEAD NAMED HIS PUPPY AFTER THE FEMALE LEAD AND IT TOOK ME TOO LONG TO FIGURE THAT OUT. I really have no interest in the next books unfortunately, but it kinda seems like this group of COLLEGE KIDS have way too much drama. Somehow the russian mafia is brought into this book and it's just kinda like...what. 2.5 stars but I'll round up cause it is a faster read.

3.5 ⭐️ ALEX!!! Seriously, he caught me off guard in the best way possible. He fought the good fight, but let's face it, resistance was futile. The sparks between these two, first introduced in "Play it Dirty," were electric, and the enemies-to-lovers banter? Pure gold.
I had a sneaky suspicion Blair was hiding a fascinating story, and when you peel back the layers, you can't help but root for her. This book sprinkled in a bit of suspense, and as I tried to connect the dots, I found myself falling for other characters and itching to know their tales. Despite the odds stacked against them, our duo kept fighting for that happily-ever-after.
And now, let's spice things up 🥵. Alex and Blair were like a dynamic duo, pushing each other's buttons and venturing into some intriguing territories after stumbling upon a certain book.
"On your knees. Crawl to me."
I'm totally invested in this series and these characters. Can't wait to plunge back into this world, especially with that sneak peek at Ryder's future book. Count me in!
Sure, it had its cute moments and a solid foundation, but it didn't flow as seamlessly as the first book. It felt a tad choppy, like someone hit the fast-forward button while writing.
From the moment Alex and Blair meet there is fireworks. Flash forward two years and Alex is the bane of Blair’s existence. Well that and her mother forcing prospective suitors onto her as she is expected to be married. Blair and Alex are forced to spend time together when they are sent to an interstate forum for their class. Things start to heat up between them.
We first met Alex and Blair in the first book of this series. They hate each other, and when Blair kisses his twin brother to rile him up, you know there’s more behind it. This story shows the depth of their firey passion they have for one another.
Alex, possessive, protective and all the dominant dirty talk. He calls her baby girl, asks her to crawl to him - it’s all there and it will leave you swooning.
The resolution of the drama is seemingly quick without too much discussion of what happened so we can surmise that that storyline will come up again in future books.
There’s spice, there’s banter, there’s the side characters we enjoyed from the previous book, and there’s puppies. A great read.
Blair believes Alex to be a hot shot arrogant jock and Alex believes Blair to be a stuck up rich girl while they can't stand each other they have to be together frequently due to mutual friends. You get to see these two interact in the first book in the series and I was excited to see that the second book was their story. Alex gets injured during a hockey game which leaves free time to go on a trip school trip to DC to present his project with one other student... naturally it's Blair. You find out more about Blair's family dynamics and why she has agreed to let her snobby awful parents decide who she is going to marry. The more these two are together the more they realize they can't let each other go will she be able to get out from under her rich parents control? If you also enjoy reading about the hockey games in hockey romance this book does not have much of that and is more about the leading characters interactions outside the rink. I enjoyed this book much more than the first one and I'm looking forward to the next in the series, author also sets things up for other spin offs with characters from this series.
Ok I’m about to throw down a hot take. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑. I loved Play it Dirty and didn’t think I’d love anyone more than Noah. But Alex…phewwww that boy is on another level!
Alex and Blair are sworn enemies. They’ve disliked each other for a long time and they literally go out of their way to make it known. But when Alex gets injured on the ice and finds himself sharing a hotel room with Blair during a conference for one of their classes, they share a quick fling. As much as they want to brush it off as a drunken mistake, the couple can’t stay away from one another. And when Alex finds out that Blair is anything but the spoiled rich girl he’s hated for so long, he does everything he can to show her how his feelings have changed.
The spice in this book is 𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓯’𝓼 𝓴𝓲𝓼𝓼. You think you’re getting a grumpy, but wholesome little hockey boy and a rich prissy girl…but buckle up bbs because your mind is about to be blown.
I promise you’re going to love these characters, their story, and their love for each other. Scooch this one right up to the top of your TBRs!
Do I take Alex Kaminski to be my newest book boyfriend? Yes. Yes, I do. He was what I expected and also what I did not. The tension between him and Blair had been palpable since their introduction in "Play It Dirty" and neither of them stood a chance.
I love enemies to lovers and Michelle, you really "scored" and brought it home. I was absolutely captivated as Alex and Blair unraveled each other.
With the little quirks that Blair had, I knew there was a story there and I was shocked when I found out what that was. My heart hurt for her and I was also angry for what she had to put up with.
There was so much suspense surrounding Blair and her brother, Ryder. I kept wondering what was going on, trying to solve the puzzle. I was truly invested in their story while also getting tangled up in the other characters and needing their stories. The HEA seemed like an impossibility but giving up was not an option.
The banter and the spice was perfection. Blair and Alex went to toe to toe and when they did, the chemistry was explosive.
I am completely smitten with this series and I can't wait for what comes next.

This is an enemy to lovers, forbidden romance, he falls first, and has so many more amazing tropes! I was eager to read Alex and Blair’s story after meeting them in book 1! I loved Alex so much! From being such a player with all the ladies, he goes to have eyes only for Blair. He even falls first! 😏 I’m telling you guys, he disliked Blair so much, that he even named his pup after her.😂 Alex was broody and y’all already know how I feel about these broody guys! What won me over was Alex’s determination to be with Blair. He knew they couldn’t be together because of Blair’s family but he did not let that stop him. I will admit that Ryder, Blair’s brother definitely caught my attention, and all I wanted was more of him! I can’t wait until we get his story! I also can’t wait for you guys to read this series!!
The second book in the Players of Hannaford U series, Play It Hard by Michelle Hercules is a contemporary college sports romance that can be read as a standalone. This is told in dual POV and is an enemies-to-lovers trope. This is the story of Blair and Alex. These two have had a major dislike for one another since first crossing paths during a class they share together. Blair thinks Alex is nothing but a playboy jock while Alex thinks Blair is a spoilt rich princess who gets everything handed to her. When their professor pairs them together for an assignment, these two are forced to interact and play nice but as they spend more time together, their feelings for another become undeniable. Overall, this was a good read. A great addition to the series with lots of drama spice and banter. Some angst but the chemistry was hot. Now one book I really need is Ryder's followed by Sean and Logan. Can’t wait for more.
Alex and Blair were the perfect academic rivals/enemies to lovers and I swear I had almost forgotten how much I loved this trope.
The slow but sure build-up as they realise things about each other and overcome prejudices is just *chef kisses*.
The only thing I didn't like is the same thing as the first book, Ryder swooped in and saved his sister but we don't know how. We got to know why he left Gia and the team in the last book and it seems the author leaves one aspect unanswered to keep us hooked on the series. It works but makes the book feel a little incomplete to me.
Also it kinda feels like the way Ryder is being presented as the misunderstood good guy means he is the ultimate hero which doesn't feel fair for the book's actual hero and heroine. I really hoped Blair would have found a way to get out of the engagement herself.
But anyway Alex did help her with the other reason why Blair was dealing with her parents' bull.
After the tension in Play it Dirty and the none stop banter, I knew the relationship between these two would be explosive. The sexual tension between these two was off the charts, I was waiting on the edge of my seat for the collision, and boy was it amazing. Michelle never disappoints.
Poor Alex & Blair couldn't catch a break, from one roadblock to the end they fought their relationship and then fought for their relationship the whole time. There were so many ups and downs your sure to be captivated the entire ride.
From the moment we met Ryder in Book 1 I knew the mystery that surrounds him was going to be intense and while Michelle gave us some crumbs I’m itching for Ryder's story. The sneak peek at the end of the book had me reeling and demanding more. I look forwards to seeing more of Blair & Alex in Ryder's book.
3⭐️ - cute academic rivals to lovers/hockey romance. Blair and Alex were inevitable, you could tell from the first book. Definitely had some twists I wasn’t planning on. Still a super long book over a short period of time.
Alex and Blair have been rivals from their first meeting, unknowingly because of a bad day OB both their parts, a hateship started years ago. When things start to not feel like hate anymore, both are very confused and unsure of what to do. When the stars align and the two rivals get forced together on a trip, things start to progress in a way neither of them intended.
Knowing that she would eventually have to marry who her family deems “worthy,” Blair has never put much stock in relationships. When Alex is constantly under her skin, she can’t seem to wait long before giving in.
Talk about a book you can’t put down!! I could not get enough of Alex! He was cocky, sweet, aggravating, sexy as hell, and head over heels in love with Blair. Blair had walls built up, but once she opened a window, they all cracked around her.
I love that every time I read one of Michelle’s books that I am transported to the story. The characters become my friends. The villains become my enemies. I can’t get it out of my head. It’s the way she writes, giving you the information needed to be apart of the world, but not let you loose focus. It’s perfect for my ADHD brain. 🤣
Now that I have seen Alex in action, I’m not sure how I’ll ever love the other guys as much. I’m certain that was the plan.
Move over Noah Kingsley, Alex Kaminski is in the house and he is amazing!!!
Play It Dirty showed us the hate between Alex and Blair, this time we get to find out why they have this relationship.
When Alex is injured in a Hockey game he’s benched for 2 weeks and is then invited on a school trip with Blair. This time spent alone allows them to get to know each other better and they soon realise there’s something more than hate between them.
They say there’s a thin line between love and hate.
But things are not smooth sailing for Alex and Blair, there’s dark secrets lurking and threatening to tear them apart.
This was a great Hockey romance full of spice and smutty goodness, I 100% recommend this. 🩵
✨Who knew the man I hated for two years would be the one to make me feel alive for the first time?✨
ᴀʀᴄ ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ: Oh my goodness👏🏼 this book was perfection. I loved every second. The enemies to lovers, the playful banter, the spice.. chefs kiss Michelle because you did the damn thing and wrote an amazing 5 star read!!!
I loved the suspense in this and I found myself trying to put things together. While doing this I also found myself falling for a certain side character that I’m just dying for his book and I can’t wait to drop everything once it’s out.
But also Alex.. welcome to my top book boyfriend list because 🥵👇🏼
“You need to earn it. If you’re a good girl, I’ll let you suck me with that gorgeous mouth of yours. Now take everything off. I won’t ask again.”
This is the story of Blair and Alex from the series. Blair is the rich debutant whose brother is Ryder (Gia’s ex) and Alex is on the hockey team (twin to Logan). Their love story starts as enemies. She’s rich and privileged and he has to support himself - they see each other in the surface but as they get to know each other their interests grow.
Gia is destined to be married off, Alex won’t let that happen. They work on a UN project together. His dad doesn’t like her (since her father’s company laid him off). Ryder saves the day (in ways we don’t know) to get Blair off the hook for marrying a scumbag and Alex exposes their secret of Blair’s twin living in assisted living that her parents have kept a secret for appearances.
Good book - recommend the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

I'm such a sucker for an enemies to lovers romance, and throw in hockey and its a winner.
Blair and Alex detest each other. They are academic rivals, but Alex also can't stand Blair because of who her Father is and the fact she's a pampered princess.
The bickering between these two was so funny, but you could see straight away that these two were attracted to each other.
Seeing Alex gradually fall for Blair was so satisfying to read about.
These two had some sizzling chemistry, and I loved them together.
Learning more about Ryder and why he's done certain things, plus the preview of his upcoming book redeemed him in my eyes.
Loving this series and can't wait for Sean and Ashley's book.
