Another brilliant installment in the Green Mountain Romance series!
Picking up after the events of Sleigh All Day, Shadow on the Mountain finds Imogen and Gabe looking to move their future forward as a couple. Imogen is packing up her life in New Jersey to move to Vermont and is spending her free time at Gabe’s getting to know her horse, Fortune. Gabe, haunted by night terrors from his military past, finds an old colleague unexpectedly on his doorstep. Confronting his past may just be what Gabe needs to do in order to face a future with Imogen.
The book’s characters absolutely sparkle with life, particularly Harper, Gabe’s sister, and Imogen’s Aunt Jo. Imogen’s New Jersey friends were absolutely delightful from the few pages they appeared, and I was impressed with how sensitively the character of Anita and her baggage was handled.
The story moves at a brisk pace, with the tension really ramped up in the last third of the book that will have you galloping to the end. Despite the book’s fast pace, I love how realistic Wallace’s main couple are, taking things far more slowly and carefully building a trusting foundation.
A terrific read!
