When bad boy Jake Summers came back to his childhood hometown of Briarwood he had no idea that he was going to run into the crown princess. That’s what the locals had always called her, the daughter of the town’s self-appointed king. Old man Willoughby owned and ran everything in their little town and everyone had always bowed to his dictates. Jake had never seen the daughter in question lesser beings like himself were not given that privilege, besides he was five years older than she was. But when he found the young beauty in his home on his return tutoring his little sister of all things, the sparks began to fly. With one look he knew he wanted her under him but he also knew there was no way it could work. Not unless he disrupted her life. One night of unbridled passion in the backseat of his car had changed everything. Not only were they caught, Jake had to leave town and leave his heart behind. Now three years later he’s back to reclaim what’s rightfully his and this is no boy but a man. A man who had spent the last three years planning his return.
“Babe everything with a dick ain’t a man. No man would leave his family no matter what. In the long run they’ll be better off without the fuck.”
These are the pearls of wisdom by our "worthy" hero. Meanwhile, he leaves the so called "love of his life" alone for almost 4 years while he just did his own thing. Too bad he can't follow his own advise here. I guess it's a case of do as I say not as I do?! Soooo alpha....NOT!
To say this book was amazing would be a gross exaggeration! I mean seriously huge! *yes it's another 10 inches dick! Lol got to laugh!
There are so many "small" issues with this book that I don't know where to start! I guess the editors were all sick the day it came to the editing of this book. So many silly mistakes that a grade schooler could find them. I think a lot of these older JS books could use a re-edit.
Now, this story is a little different than your typical JS, in that the hero was with the heroine and he left her. I will admit that I was curious about this book only because of JS new book release Savage. I wanted to read how she does a second chance romance. One that was safe for me to read anyways. At least, this hero and heroine were FAITHFUL! He waited almost 4 years to get his girl back! He doesn't have sex with anyone else. He was not even tempted to do so! Now, that's how it's done, son! Hihi!
It's not a perfect story and most time it was about sex, but the hero was alpha and while he sometimes ventured into the asshat territory, he did not live there. (Thank God) I don't think I could have finished this book if the hero hadn't been redeemed. IMO, he was!
In conclusion, for me this book was worth a read and had a sweet epilogue and some passionate love scenes. However, I am not going to keep this one, and I would only recommend it to those who like second chance without cheating on both sides.
Safety: no cheating, no OW/OM drama, no pulling and some pushing away from the hero. No condoms.
Notes and possible triggers: there are some spanking, light punishment, rough and anal sex.
so this was ok for me. two things I didn't care for. One he had anal sex before. I didn't need to know that. two his teaching her a lesson I hated it! he went to far . other than that he was a true alpha and crazy about her which I love:)! he was celibate for those three years yay!!! Not too much about his past at all besides in high school he had a reputation! Safety gang safe
So, I've gotten on an OTT alpha male kick lately. Jordan Silver seems to deliver and this one was no different.
Jake was a hot tattooed, pierced bad ass. Jacqueline was your typical sheltered daughter of an overbearing, asshole of a father who kept her and Jake apart.
He waited 3 years until he could come back for Jacqueline. I loved that he never touched another woman in that time. She was it for him. He was possessive and OTT but I loved it.
******* WARNING SPOILERS BELOW*******
What I didn't love and have a major problem with happened around 74%. It decreased my enjoyment for the rest of the book. Jackie uses sex to get what she wants. Wrong, I know, but what does Jake do??? And this is what really got me, basically he does the exact same thing...using sex as a tool...only he withholds ALL his affection and ignores her for DAYS I understand the spanking..I can get behind that (no pun intended lol) because she enjoyed that and wanted it. But I DO NOT condone withholding affection from someone you are supposed to love, above all else, as a form of punishment. All this happened at the end of their honeymoon too! He deserved to be scared shitless at the thought of losing her during the bomb scare. Why would you purposely hurt, emotionally, someone you love??? That is not what I want in my Heroes!!
The editing was better in this one and I appreciated that. And I'm sorry but, I cannot rate this any higher because of the above. ***2.25 Stars***
2.5 Fluffy-Smut only ⭐’s Another one I’ve had for quite a while. It’s pretty standard JS, but it’s older (2014) and she’s definitely gotten better… so it’s pretty rough.
Jacqueline and Jake had a brief affair 4-years earlier on the DL when they were caught after having sex. Her evil dad wasn’t having his girl hooking up with the local bad boy and chased him out of town. I’m not quite sure why he felt 4-years was the magic number when he knew he was leaving his girl with her corrupt family.
Regardless, he moves away and does some stuff… makes some connections… saves money and returns for his girl. Jackie’s been mostly kept as a prisoner in her home dreaming about Jake, so she jumps at the chance to have her man back.
The main issue with the book is that there’s virtually no conflict for the couple, so most of the plot is made of random bits of filler strung together. The first 20% is some backstory with police filler. The next 50% is filled with sex and random filler like meeting an arbitrary mother with an autistic kid or going to the Grand Canyon.
Bottom Line- I get this is JS, and you don’t read her stuff for content…but even smut should have some plot. There’s no relationship development, no getting to know each other after the separation, the evil family is delt with swiftly. There’s a teeny bit of action towards the end, but it felt forced. Nothing felt cohesive. I recommend picking up her newer stuff but can’t say this is worth 2.99.
Not sure what Silver was thinking with this story, but it and I just didn't get along.
Four Years? Really?
Four years? Really, both held out, never speaking to each other, but neither never so much as touching anyone else, for four Mf years. Come on!!! Fantasy or not, shit should remain in the realm of plausible at least!
Alpha? Not so much:(
One of Silver's strengths is creating Alpha bad boys that readers love to hate and hate to love. Her male MC typically has as much suaveness and tenderness as he does caveman. He is possessive, yes. He exercises dominance, yes. But he does it all to protect, never harm, his female.
Not the case here, though. I just didn't get into Jake. Maybe it's because an alpha male wouldn't take his mate's virginity and EVER allow anyone to force him to abandon her? Maybe it's because he waited four f'ing years to go get his woman? Maybe it's because his personality is just too mehh to counter his dominate side? Maybe it's because he doesn't mind hurting his woman to prove a point or keep hold of the reigns, such as by ignoring her, walking out in her, and denying her on their honeymoon when she tries to use the lustful stupor of sex to get him to agree to something? The irony... This asshole uses sex to punish her, but it's not okay for her to use it for her own secondary purposes humm! Sounds more insecure than alpha to me! In any event, Jake just didn't do it for me in any way:(
I'd like to say something about the female MC, but I really don't know a damn thing about her other than she went from controlling daddy to equally controlling husband. Otherwise, her every thought is how he's beautiful and she's not & her every action is to hump the skin off his schtick. No personality... No backbone...just a meek doormat vagina.
WTF is the humor?
Silver always has me lmao through her books. Didn't see an ounce of that usual humor.
WTF was the plot?
This book basically ended at the 1/4 mark when the male MC went to get his woman. The rest was a travelogue and the same damn sex scenes on repeat with a random Autistic kid, a bomb, and a cop dishing out vigilantly justice thrown in for no damn purpose at all.
Zero Stars
I tolerate Silver's horrible grammar and editing because she always makes me laugh; usually pounds me with a fast, furious plot; and generally has very well done characters. "Bad Boy" had all the horrid grammar and editing with NONE of her usual attributes. So, the only thing "Bad" here is this book!
Jake Summers had a plan in place to be with the woman who had stolen his heart. They had a brief time together before she was stolen away by her repressive father, but Jackie was all his. When he arrives ready to bring her home with him, Jackie is thrilled. However, Jackie has much to learn as his woman and Jake plans to teach her along the way.
This was fun, Jake is pure alpha male. I thought overall good story, not sure why Jake was labeled bad boy but I think mostly because he was from the wrong side of the tracks. Jackie was a bit naive but it worked in this story.
I really enjoyed this read it was jake and Jackie story. They both had a past but when her dad found out he stopped it and jake moved away but promised himself he would be back when she was old enough. After 3 and a half years apart both feelings were still the same and with the help of jakes sister they were reunited. I loved jake and he knew what he wanted and that was a life with Jackie. I like a bit of an alpha male but jake for me was far too alpha in some parts for me. xx
(Cariad ..thanks so much for the rec)
This book was just what I needed. Oh my gosh. I loved everything about it. Possessive Alpha, protective and loyal. Sweet and caring. I could go on and on. But what really got me is how freaking TAKE CHARGE he was. Jake and Jackie were just too cute for words. I loved how innocent Jackie was ..so much that her introduction to coffee brought tears to my eyes.
This book was just perfect in so many ways for me. Just because sometimes I want something that makes me smile and gets me warm all over at the same time.
Jake cherished Jackie and was so unapologetic about his devotions. Everything about this guy screamed PERFECT ALPHA APPROVED
If you didn't get that I'll be devouring more Jordan Silver books then you obviously haven't been paying attention. Give me more now!!!
So I've been on a Jordan Silver kick and the more books I read the more I'm regretting my choices. She tends to write stories that should be embellished, short and stories that should be short, Freaking long with mundane shit.
Case in point: Bad Boy.
I don't know why this was long there wasn't a story here. The synopsis of the book is basically the prologue because it starts off 4 years, 3 1/2 years, 3 years later. Seriously Jacqueline starts of saying it's been 4 years that Jake left, then the middle of the page she says he took of 3 years ago, finally at the bottom of the page she hasn't seen him in 3 1/2. So somewhere along those lines Jake split. They don't go into detail regarding the past or getting caught.
The hero Jake, I was confused at what he did. Was he a cop? Special ops? Superman? Cause he kept showing some badge on his chest that had people running scared.
The heroine Jacqueline, was like every other female she writes about. Meek, no back bone, scared of her shadow. She was under daddy's thumb for 22 years. She wasn't allowed to do anything. She was on house arrest by daddy-o for sneaking behind daddy's back and having sex with Jake in the back seat of his car at 18.
Jake comes back, they sneak away, get married and then move away from the town with mom and sister in tow.
She does see daddy again but superman Jake shows daddy his chest and Daddy pales and moves away. After that we get the privilege of knowing what they had for dinner, what's up for breakfast. Meeting a poor, single mother in a restaurant. Vacation in Arizona, some bomb they find at home and lots and lots of sex. There is an epilogue but I couldn't figure out if years or months later but it's Easter and she's preggers.
Who wrote this and WTF have you done with Jordan Silver LOL!!???
OMFG a complete and total change of pace from the brilliant Ms. Silver! This is the first of her books that I've read that is more story than fuckfest and boy did it work well!! MORE, MORE, MORE like this please!!
If you're looking for a totally possesive Alpha that adores his girl and loves his Mom and sister hard (a true family man) AND you need a great love story with a HEA, look no further.
Well the first hint that this is a silly story, are the names of the MCs, Jake and Jackie. Seriously! The second is that Jackie would actually allow herself to become a prisoner by choice. Not like anyone was holding a gun to her head. Really? But all that aside, it was a fun read and Jake is of course, a hot alpha hero. I especially liked that he stayed true to her in their time apart. For only being 137 pages, it felt longer and meandered a fair bit. But overall I enjoyed it.
First off, i dont understand at all why this book doesnt have a higher rating. for me, this book was perfect I don't even know where to start. then I read some of the comments and realized people were picking it apart for the most ridiculous reasons but to each his own I guess.
Ill have to say my lasting memory of this book will be how funny it was. Jakes thoughts and inner monologue was so true to a male character I don't think she could've even gotten any more real. I found myself loving and smiling and giggling at everything he thought or said. Thinking to myself, this is EXACTLY how a guy would think. and what else made me laugh was the way he was with his team and his sister. the bickering and back and forth they all did had me laughing every other page and showed a true companionship, making me like Jake all the more.
another thing was that when I couldn't believe how short it really was. when you read it, it just feels like it was so much longer it had substance for a short book. and in that substance was a really good balance. you get the hot sex scenes (that I personally love and am very picky about, meaning if they don't get my panties wet just reading them, they fall short for me, and boyyy did this book NOT fall short) but on top of those, there's still a good story there with just enough depth and detail to balance the steamy scenes.
a lot of times in romance novels, the hero is either totally possesive and dominant without showing enough care, or he's SO fluffy and catering that you could gag. Jake was the perfect balance. he was possesive and didn't put up with any shit, but at the same time, paid close attention to her and cherished her like she was, in his words 'precious'. he was the perfect alpha male for my taste.
in the end, i dont even think i have anything i disliked, maybe ONE scene, where he gave her the cold shoulder, but he made up for it enough for me to still love him and the rest of the book, from beginning to end. it was a win and a definite re read for me.
This one was definitely tough.. even though it had some "fun" scenes, it was very unrealistic..
Story goes we have an 18 year old virgin, a huge daddy's girl (daddy owns the town). Then we have a bad boy from the wrong side of tracks, and he's 25..bla bla bla they date for a couple of weeks and then he pops her cherry in the backseat of his car..they get caught by the local police... she is imprisoned by her daddyo while he goes to wherever to finish college..
3 years later... she is still a prisoner..he is some sort of police officer/special ops..he comes into town basically kidnaps her, fucks her, marries her 15 minutes later and then moves her to his hometown...but wait his mommy dearest comes too and so does the sister and they all live in a happy old house..
Girl hadn't had sex since she lost her v card 3 years ago and goes Anastasia Steele on us.. I mean girl is bending over, doing tricks 10 times a day..bit a realistic? Oh and the anal? Jeez!
So... it took me five books or so but I finally figured out what it is that I don't like about Jordan Silvers writing. She starts off good, it's always an interesting star that perks your interest. But then she keep's with the main H&H, if it's not a scene with them together, then it's a secen with just one of them and no one else. Very rarely does she include a third party, and when she does they have little to no effect on the story. There are parts of the writing that is reminiscent ok KA but with no supporting characters to back up the story it end's up falling flat. So... yeah... 3 stars :(
Just no! This has to be one of the worst examples of editing I have ever read, so bad the wretched thing didn't even make sense half the time. I wish I had downloaded a sample before buying this and wasting my money.
intense. Reread, November, 2017. Lots of swearing, lots of sex, a decent plot. The hero is a very dominant alpha male. I prefer my heroines a little more feisty and a lot less subservient. Re-read again January, 2019! Re-read again in January, 2023!
Loved Jake and Jackie. A sweet and steamy love story, between a badass biker cop and a sweet and sheltered good girl. Jake fell in love with his sister's best friend, Jacqueline, when she was 18 and he 23. Her dad and his cop friends ran him off. Jake has a plan. Jackie has been on lock down for almost since her dad ran Jake off almost 4 years ago. Jackie has a plan. Mindy is in the middle. She is about to help her brother and her best friend put their plans in notion. Bad Boy is set in the same universe as, Lyon's Crew, SEAL team 7, The Bikers Baby Girl, Man of Steel, Mancini's Way, and The Billionaire, and Jake has a part to play.
This wasn't one of my favorite books by this author. I wanted to love the story given it's a second chance love story...where they were forced not to be together and Jake remains celibate for almost 4 yrs so he can get his career on track to be able to take her away from her overbearing father and marry her.
I found it strange that she was almost 22 yrs old yet she's behaving like a teenager as if she isn't an adult and isn't allowed to hang out??
The story did become dull the only interesting parts were the sex scenes.

This is the longest story I’ve read from this author. It was a great idea/topic. It spoke more on revenge and sexy time. He’s truly a Modified Christian Grey.
