Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.

Keep the Faith: How to Stand Strong in a World Turned Upside Down by David Jeremiah – Review
Keep the Faith: How to Stand Strong in a World Turned Upside Down by David Jeremiah is an encouraging Christian living book that speaks directly to believers feeling shaken by life’s turmoil and uncertainty. Drawing inspiration from Paul’s words in 2 Timothy (about fighting the good fight and finishing the race strong), Jeremiah offers readers a practical guide to leaning on God’s strength when everyday battles chip away at confidence in His promises. The book focuses on four persistent challenges that believers face: fear, discouragement, worry, and doubt, and then explores four blessings that can fortify one’s faith in the midst of trials: grace, perseverance, responsibility, and fortitude. Jeremiah curates insights, Scripture, and reflections from his previous works to guide readers toward spiritual resilience and steadfast trust in God’s unwavering love.
When I read Keep the Faith I felt comforted by Jeremiah’s familiar pastoral voice that blends Scripture with real‑world encouragement, making abstract faith concepts feel grounded and accessible. His emphasis on facing struggles with honesty and spiritual tools rather than denial made the message feel both gentle and empowering, especially if you’re wrestling with fear or uncertainty in personal relationships, health, or purpose. While it isn’t a dramatic narrative, the book’s reflective tone and clear organization invite ongoing meditation rather than quick answers, making it a book to return to again and again rather than rush through.
Rating: 4 out of 5 because it supplies heartfelt, biblically rooted encouragement that helped me think differently about standing firm in faith when life feels unstable.
Wow, this was truly beautiful to read. It reminds me that no matter what, God is always there with you and helping you through it all. I truly loved the in-depth moments and moving stories within this. It truly opens your eyes to a lot of things. You are enough, you are loved. God will never leave your side, even when things get tough or get turned upside down.
This is very simply a book about how to stand up under difficult situations, from a biblical point of view. Jeremiah deals with overcoming worry, persevering, trusting God in the midst of doubt, and on and on. Using stories of people Jeremiah knows, including himself as well as modern stories of others and of course stories of real heroes from God's Word, Jeremiah provides a book of hope and faith that a lot of people, including me need to read. I loved this book. It was borrowed from a friend, but I will soon be going out to secure my own copy. This is one I will read and re-read, especially as I am in the early phases of writing a similar book. If you've ever dealt with a struggle, and especially if you're in one right now, you owe it to yourself to read this book.
What this book says to me is that, you are not alone. God is ALWAYS present in your life. This book is filled with stories, Scripture and words of encouragement. I recommend it for anyone going through anything in their life or for anyone who needs a reminder of what God has done for them.
PROS: Excellent coverage on how to respond to life’s disruptive events for Christians. CONS: None.
OVERALL: Excellent opening chapter on Fear, how it can immobilize us, and how to overcome it with “fear insurance”—a great idea that I am writing down. Other topics include discouragement, worry and doubt. Filled with likeable quotes and practical advice, such as the Wednesday Worry Box. The author sandwiches scriptural responses to challenges between the start and end of anecdotal stories, allowing the reader to finish on a high note of how others have faced what you are going through and found comfort in the resolution. Blessings found in faithful responses are covered as grace, perseverance, responsibility, and the usefulness of disruptive moments in your life—which leans into five principles about them. Page 176 begins an important 3-page reminder that the disruption happening in your life is likely something from God to help you learn and grow. Sometimes this author's work feels repetitive when speaking of a bend in the road or your life being turned upside down, but the message is worth repeating.
SUMMARY: An easily understood text covering Biblical responses to common pitfalls. An essential volume on why it is important to not grow angry with God over the unpleasant surprises in our lives—His intention could be to lead you from questions of “why?” to “what?”—from why me and why now to what am I learn, and what am I to be doing?
Excellent review of God’s strength during troubled times in our lives. Dr Jeremiah artfully articulates the message of God’s teaching moments and His history of deliverance in whatever “Disruptive Moments” occur in life ! Great Read for anyone interested in learning and growing even in adverse times.
Dr. Jeremiah has once again delivered a masterful work of inspirational stories, powerful Biblical insights, and much needed encouragement for all people.
Great reminder of having faith over fear. Fear disregards God’s plan! A sound mind does not deal in irrational speculation It moves forward with a cry of victory not a wail of fear. Your fear level is a spiritual yardstick.
Read paperback for a book club. This is such an encouraging and uplifting book, a short, quick read, and helpful. Lots of good storytelling. Recommend.
