I am so disappointed! I really liked the first book in the series, but this one - not so much. I liked Sawyer - she is a good heroine and the reason for the 2 stars. She deserves SO much better than she got! I did not like Kaden, he is a controlling prick. Not a hot alpha. He also subjects her to things no one who has been though what she did - should ever be pressured into! Can you warn us on the ménage action next time? Normally it may not bother me, but I thought this scenario was horribly inappropriate. They never discussed their relationship or feelings. It was total Stockholm Syndrome to me and I found myself wishing for her to escape not end up with him! He is totally unworthy! Boy - I just realized how much I really dislike him!

Ugh. What a mess. I adore Jamie Begley's Last Rider and other MC books but this one left me wanting to head desk multiple times.

The hero has to be one of the worse heroes I've come across in a while. I kept waiting for that moment when the hero realizes what a arse he is and to change but it never happens. In my opinion, he was actually nicer in the beginning. Once he starts to care for heroine, and I use that word with sarcasm, he becomes a controlling sadistic unlikable arse.

He uses mental and emotional manipulation to basically force a kidnapped victim of human sex traffiking into s/m submissive relationship. I was so insulted by his entire attitude and actions I was pretty much angry the entire book. I don't have a problem with BDSM relationships if it is an informed consensual relationship. And I wasn't convinced this was. Especially at the punishment/menage scene and the disregard of her safe word. Don't give your partner one if you aren't going to respect the use of it. This wasn't a romance with kink. This was the beginning of an abusive slave/master relationship and the author tried and failed to convince me of it's legitimacy.

I just found the whole situation unappealing. The heroine is basically forced from one crap situation to another and the author tries to convince us it's all okay by telling us the heroine is getting off on it and labeling it romance. There is NOTHING romantic about the hero or his actions.

The hero also treats the heroine like a stupid child. He disrespects by never listening to the her. It was as if her wants and needs didn't matter when they didn't mesh with is. Finally, she gives up and just accepts. She becomes very disconnected and brainwashed in her emotions. I never felt a connection between them. I never felt any love or actual respect between them. If anything, the heroine suffered from extreme PTSD and Stockholm Syndrome and the hero takes advantage.

While I will continue to read her MC series, I do believe I stay away from this series.

Not bad.

It's a pretty good book, has its pros and cons.

Pros? It's seriously HOT!

Also, Kaden is pretty good, I liked him. The writing is awesome, as you'd expect from this author and the plot is decent.

Cons?
Sawyer sucks.

I get that she's been through a lot and all that, but for some reason, I just can't say I like her too much.

The book is still worth reading though.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
=============
UPDATE: Reread 26-27 January 2021

Rereading the author's books in the order indicated by her while I wait for Gavin's third book.

------------------------------------

Zero is an asshole and Zeroine is a dumbass. Mix bdsm and menage and the mess is complete. I did not like the heroes and some things deeply irritated me. I could not remember the story and I think I liked it the first time I read it.

After the concert, he had picked two from the mass of followers, who trailed after them from concert to concert, hoping for the chance to come into contact with the band members.

Kaden was singing with Alyce on the stage. They were dancing in a way that looked more like humping to Sawyer, and the crowd was going nuts. Alyce’s ass was grinding back on Kaden’s dick as his arms circled her waist with his hands pressed flat on her stomach, pulling her back to him.

I’ll give you a warning, though; the next time you want me to kiss you, I won’t make you ask me. I’ll make you beg.”

Kaden was sitting on one of the lounge chairs with a pretty woman sitting next to him, while her hand was casually rubbing his thigh.

These women here didn’t want to be friends; they wanted what time they could get with the band, without an outsider trying to get inside their little group.

“You can’t get pregnant, either. I had a vasectomy years ago. I have no desire for children in my life and I have no intention of paying child support for kids that aren’t mine.”

“I want this shaved. If you haven’t taken care of it by the next time I fuck you, then I’ll do it myself.”

“Then ask me nicely.” Sawyer knew what he wanted to hear. “Please, Kaden. I want your dick.”

“I can’t stand to be around babies,” Kaden said, walking to his motorcycle.

A knife stabbed in her heart as she watched Briana’s chair screech back from the table, leaving Kaden sitting at the table with his cock in Alana’s hand. Sawyer rose to her feet, determined to follow Briana’s example.

Kaden adjusted his hips as the woman he picked up from a popular nightclub, unbuttoned his jeans and pulled his dick out with nimble fingers.

Sawyer didn’t need to be told what they thought. There was no comparison between herself and Tatiana.

“I didn’t mean to cause problems between you and Kaden.” He broke into the uncomfortable silence between them. “Yes, you did.”

R.J. was a snake that had betrayed not only her, but also his friends who’d trusted him.

She sucked Ax’s cock into her mouth, feeling her mouth stretch wide to take him. He leaned back, raising his hips to thrust further into her mouth. Kaden maneuvered her body until she was on her knees between the men and her pussy was within reach of his mouth.

I love Jamie Begley; I devour her books. Her heros are often complicated and flawed yet I still end up rooting for them. Unfortunately, I really struggled with Tainted because the hero, Kaden, was a dick. I wish I had a more sophisticated or insightful way to describe his behavior but dickish basically sums it up. Kaden was cold, controlling, and cruel. I never felt that he truly cared for Sawyer. She was an object that he wished to control and dominate. The disconnect in their relationship was highlighted during a scene in which Sawyer watches Colton and Vida kiss goodbye. Their kiss is filled with passion and love while Kaden and Sawyers' was rote (he basically reprimanded Sawyer for not kissing him goodbye).

Still, while I didn't care for this book I would still recommend it because of its connection to The Last Riders series. Specifically, we learn some shocking information about one of the characters in The Last Riders series!

2.5 :(
Ok,so this went from like 4 stars at 70%, to 2 stars for me, after that totally uncalled for menage!!
Made it 3 stars just for Sawyer...Kaden whom I liked at the beginning, lost his appeal after including Ax in their relationship:(

I was expecting more of emotional build up between the two after she was rescued for the second time, but instead, their chemistry just fizzled out for me and I find many other reviewers agreeing to these points!

I'm glad, after that ending from Teased, that we got Sawyer's pov. I was interested in finding out what happened to her after Digger kidnapped her. She was kept chained in a basement with many other women and kept drugged. Her captors were one girl short for a party scheduled for a bunch of rock stars. Even though Digger has special plans for Sawyer she happens to be the only woman free of bruises at the moment and since the guys only want the girls for one night they decide to take her.

Kaden was going on five years out of the spotlight after a family tragedy and a trip to rehab made him want to give up his rock star lifestyle in the band Mouth2Mouth. R.J., the band's manager, finds Kaden at his family's cabin and blackmails him into doing another tour. Kaden agrees but this time he has no tolerance for drugs or groupies. So after a concert he's not happy to find a pretty, drugged redhead in his bed in his hotel room.

After finding out the truth, that Sawyer and the other girls are not there voluntarily, the band is disgusted. But they're more worried about the press finding out about their involvement in a sex slave ring than actually helping the girls. I had quite a few issues with this book:

I rolled my eyes a lot but I managed to keep reading. It got a little better towards the end. I liked that the girls got their HEA. And the connection to Shade and Lily was brilliant!

HOLY SHITBALLS!!!!!!

Did I just read that????

That was....that was..........

Tainted tells the story of one girl's struggle for freedom and one man's fight to get her there. All Sawyer ever wanted was to be free. Ever since she was a little girl she has dreamed of being free of her past, being free of her mother's paranoia and living free, traveling with her best friend Vida. But she was taken away from the only person that ever meant anything to her, kidnapped by a ruthless pimp seeking to overthrow another, and now she dreams of another type of freedom.

But she feels her freedom is so far away, especially when she and a few other girls are hired by the manager of a famous rock band and drugged up so that they can perform their sexual duties. There she meets Kaden, a tortured rockstar who has been battling his very own demons. When her first sees her passed out and drugged up on his bed, he felt a fierce attraction to the redhead, but refused to pursue anything with her. He wasn't that man anymore. But after finding out that she was there against her will, Kaden fights to protect her and to give her the freedom she desires. The only way to do that though, is to keep her prisoner himself.

As they travel together on tour, he finds it harder and harder to resist her and ends up giving into his desires and feelings for her. But it is never peace and safety when two persons trying to find their own freedom and peace are tainted.

Jamie Begley took me on a wild ride in this installment of the VIP Room series. From start to finish this book grabbed my attention and refused to let go. I wanted to know what was happening, what would happen and even what happened at every turn. It was a thrilling, fulfilling read for me and I think this is the best of Jamie's writing so far. For that, I give you a standing 'O'!

Tainted was a sexy, suspenseful, beautiful and erotic read.
I loved the chemistry between Kaden and Sawyer, especially in light of their dom/sub dynamic.

This novel was a crazy thrill ride of twists, turns and shockers!

There were emotional scenes interspersed throughout the story as both lead characters had to deal with huge losses....Kaden more so than Sawyer. The flashbacks that he had were very important to his character development and helped to build up my love for his character. He was very strong, redemptive, dominant and lovable, a very good fit for Sawyer.

He was so intense...toe-curlingly so!....if these quotes are any indication:

Sawyer was stubborn and resilient, which both helped and endangered most of the time. She was living with so much hardship, trying to overcome a very sheltered, difficult past. Being taken away from her best friend after losing another one when she and Vida were just children was also hard on her. She beat herself up alot for falling for the charm of the man who ended up kidnapping her and bringing constant danger to her life. But at all points in the story she never gave up her dream of seeing Vida again and being free.

At the end of the book, there were some shockers that made me do some of this:

It completely blew my mind!!!!!

That shocker had me ready for Shade’s Fall already....and I am.....I'M READY!!!

Tainted was a great read. Well-written, compared to other Jamie Begley books. Shade’s Fall is the next Begley release. So........

Now....I wait.

5 UN-TAINTED STARS!!!!

Kaden, a famous rock star lead singer of Mouth2Mouth was forced to return to limelight, to a lifestyle that he swore off, the drugs and women. But when he found this beautiful drugged out redhead in his bed... his first instinct is to throw her out, but when he learned she is a victim of a sex slave ring, he will do everything to protect her.

Sawyer thought she was finally saved when she landed on Kaden's room after being kidnapped and drugged.... she just wants to go and find her best friend and only family, Vida, and start the life they planned together... till Kaden changed her plans.

Jamie Begley's books, does NOT disappoint. To continue with the first book... this time with Sawyer's story.

Sawyer's character is stubborn, generous, kind and a bit temperamental. I understand her need to get away and find Vida. Yet confused that she is drawn a lot to Kaden. She does have no problem speaking out that lands her on a lot of trouble.

Kaden is hot! He is still haunted by his tragic past..... and he will do everything to keep Sawyer. And yeah, he is into dominance and submission... and he is about to teach Sawyer about that.

This book is steamy HOT!!!!

Written under both POV's. There is definitely lots of action... suspense... funny.... romantic..... and lots of spanking!!!! One of those I couldn't put down once I started reading! And that little surprise in the end, love it!

The scene in the limo with Sawyer, Ax and Kaden??!!!

And the epilogue in the end, that was perfect.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I love how the characters from other Jamie Begley books connects, specifically with this book, The Last Riders. Which was quite a surprise, a genius!!!! Yet, you don't have to read the other series to read this one, but for those who does, you know what I mean... ;)

And that snippets about Knox and Lilly book? I can't wait!!!!

Kinky

First I will say the book ends at 79% like her other books again having chapters of daughters book stuffing the rest. I truly love Jamie's work I just wished this would STOP!

Sawyer was kidnapped and Kent to Kaden. He is a dominant with some past issues. Sawyer drove me crazy not taking her safety seriously, hey but nothing Kaden can't spank out of her right?

Need to read this one within the entire Jamie Begley multi-verse before Shade and Lily's story from the Long Riders.

Rereading April 2018. Liked this one the first time but not as much as the first one or third one in the series. Even so, many of the secrets related to King, Sawyer, Vida, and Callie (and some Last Riders) are found out to a certain extent here, so it's an interesting read.

I really don't like Kade as much the second time around, especially his bdsm tendencies that he doesn't talk out with Sawyer before starting with her. Uh, he knows her background and is an ass at times, but he's hot and hot for her.

Omg this book made my blood boil. I was actually enjoying what I was reading until Kaden shared Sawyer with Ax out if freaking nowhere! It was disgusting that Sawyer was forced to give Ax a blowjob. Honestly, I don’t believe that Kaden loved Sawyer. Sawyer deserved better!

DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER
This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.

So I forgot to read Sawyer's book before I read the latest Last Riders book. I know.. Yikes. I even blanked on how both Vida and Sawyer know Callie (Lily from the Last Riders series). Double yikes. Is it bad my only concern is how these two girls find out Callie is not dead..?

Kaden has been summoned back to save Mouth2Mouth from financial disaster. Their new frontman has gotten into a bad accident and cannot go on tour. His old manager tell him if he does not come sing he will give tapes to the press. Intrigued. Blackmail. Kaden has been away for five years and has been trying to recovery from his former wild lifestyle. Good hell. Kaden comes back from a show and a drugged Sawyer is in his bed. Alec his head of security immediately knows something is not right with the girls Redman brought them. They have confrontation with Redman in the morning and Kaden buys the girls. Sawyer almost isn't allowed to stay but Kaden rents her for 100,000 a month. Of course Digger is pleased. Redman threatens Vida before he leaves them. Now Sawyer is being held captive by the band.

The fuck. Alec finds out that the FBI know about Digger and King and want the band to keep Sawyer while they build a case. Apparently they are the ones using Vida and Sawyer as pawns to take out both men. The band has been told to keep Sawyer in the dark. After a failed escape attempt that got Kaden hurt, Sawyer agrees to 300,000 dollars from him to not try that again for three months. Kaden tells her that Vida is being protected by King. Kaden is a Dominant and wants Sawyer to be his submissive. He wears her down eventually.

We learn in Michigan that Kaden's family all died in a tragic plane crash. His ex fiancée shows up after the show and RJ leads Sawyer to fucking Redman. Good hell Redman took Sawyer back to Queen City - to Digger. King ends up saving Sawyer. He asks if she told Digger what he wanted to know. Sawyer has known Callie was King's daughter since she was eight years old. King puts her on a plane with Alec and Kaden. Once she's back, the Predators approach them. Colton and Vida have come to see Sawyer. Digger shows up and freaking holds Kaden by gunpoint (Jordan was knocked out). King comes to the rescue but Digger knows Callie was his daughter. Digger is taken into custody by the FBI. The girls live just outside of Queen City with their men and their kids. Colton gives Sawyer a beautiful tattoo on her arm.

Oh.. Jordan is Penni Shade's sister and she has a picture of Callie (Lily). That's how the girls know she's alive. This makes PERFECT sense to me now.

Cliffhanger – no (book 2 of series)
POV - Sawyer and Kaden

Decided to read this one again since I love JB's books. Yes it was just as good the second time as the first. I'm not usually a fan of the rock star romances but Kaden did it for me and I loved the way that his and Sawyer's relationship developed slowly.

First read 2/9/14
The VIP series by Janie Begley just keeps getting better and better. I usually don’t read rock star romances but damn if Begley didn’t write a 5 star book for me surrounding a reformed rock star and a down to earth, kidnapped woman caught up in a war between two evil men. Thank God it wasn’t love at first sight, like within 24 hours of meeting, as some other books have been lately. Their relationship developed while the author provided insights into their background and what made them the people they are. This is a standalone book, but I would recommend reading Teased (Book 1) since the characters are intertwined. I read romance with dom/sub relationships but have found very few that really turn me on. Damn again, if Begley didn’t weave a dom/sub relationship into this book with some of the hottest sex scenes and she didn’t let the heroine lose her total independence while doing it. Now, I will admit Sawyer did push the envelope with me with her continuous failure to realize repeated attempts to escape just caused more problems. But still, it made the story more interesting. I was very ecstatic to see the teaser about Shade/Lilly’s book coming out in June. A big, big teaser telling us where Lilly really came from before she was adopted. I have a feeling the characters in Teased and Tainted will be a big part of Shade/Lilly’s story. I highly recommend Tainted and Teased. Both will be definite read again books for me. I hope the author releases the next book in this series very soon. Is it going to be Shade’s sister Penni’s story and does she hook up with Jackal from the Predators MC from book 1?

OMG In the space of 2 pages we have 2 come to Jesus moments. I don't usually write reviews but with this book I have to write one on praise of Jamie Begley. I am not praising the actual writing grammar, syntax etc because in some cases it could be MUCH MUCH better. ( point in case needs better proof readers, beta readers and ARC readers to review such errors.) But I compliment her on creating a world/universe not unlike that of Kristen Ashley series of books that intersect, interweave and create fluid story lines across the 3 different story lines.

My one main downside is that the stories themselves are too short 190 pages approx to the 400 of KA and some of the characters are not fleshed out enough and some of development of relationships was rushed. The main gripe seems to be the unexpected ménage in the book that many readers complained about. Yes I agree it did seem odd but in the BDSM world this appears to be something of the norm but how it played out in this book didn't quite feel right and many gripes about Kaden not being liked are on the money as his character development feels totally rushed as well as his change of mood from the opening chapters to full on Dom with NO explanation was a little off. These books for the story are good but they don't make me feel the full gamut of emotions that I do with KA books hers I laugh, I cry , I cry laughing, I get angry , I have moments I hate, I empathize with characters ( Breathes female lead being a scifi fan that's me long live Battlestar) and I can reread over and over again ( I'm a quick read sometimes 2/3 books a day yes I'm an insomniac (Sweet Dreams reference and over 40)). Jamie, however is not in KA league yet but is getting there, and I do reread her books without getting bored. Can't waited for shades book and I think I know where the story is going I just hope it's a GOOD RIDE,

This one was good. Better than the first one in this series. But in JB controversy fashion there was a part in other reviews I read people weren't ok with. That being a threesome between Sawyer, Kaden, and Ax. No penetration from Ax. I agree it kinda came out of nowhere when it really didn't need to be there, or make sense. It wasn't hot at all either only because Kaden was acting so possessive then all of a sudden sharing her with Ax. Way outta left field. It seems Kaden and Ax shared girls in the past? But still the scene was meh. Whether it'll happen again is anyone's guess 🤷. But I still see the love between Sawyer and Kaden.

I liked Kaden to be honest. Sawyer got on my nerves as she had the TDTL moments. Many times actually 🤦. I liked Vida from the previous book better. We finally get Penni coming in towards the end as being the new manager of Kaden's band. Penni is Shade's half sister. Sawyer and Vida recognize a picture of Lily on her desk, and this will be the introduction into the next book Shade's Fall, and the reconnecting of Lily and her childhood friends. And also King who we all know is Lily's father. I'm really looking forward to Penni's book as well because we know later down the line she get's together with Jackel who is in the Predator's MC with Colton.

All in all I'm enjoying reading about the characters who were introduced in the LR's series

I'm probably going to get throttled for this - but I wasn't impressed with the hero. It's weird - because starting out, he seemed like he was caring and had a special spot for the heroine....then he just became this jerk. I mean, here she is, the actual victim, and he's all "me, me, me" and just a total a-hole.
The sex scenes were hot.

There is a trigger scene:

Overall this book was just okay. The heroine is in a sticky situation (to say the least) and the hero and his group jump in to save her. Although, the question on if she's really out of trouble or not remain throughout the book. I don't feel like I really saw these two falling in love. Maybe it's just because of the hardness of the hero, but I felt like they were fighting and then just in love. I dunno...Also, the heroine was tough in her head, but not with her body. She just bent to the hero's whim whenever he demanded it.
This is the book where The Last Rider series and The VIP Room series really connect for the readers.
I'd recommend this book, but only with a warning that the hero, while Alpha and possessive, is a jerk. JUST IN MY OPINION
