Seven years.
Seven years ago, I did the right thing. I broke her heart. I had always planned to come back. Planned to make things right. But time wasn't on my side anymore. She was engaged. Another man's ring was on her finger, and it was time to fight for what I'd always known was meant to be mine. Our history was painted with regret and unspoken truths, but now, I finally have the chance to close the distance between us. To show my best friend's little sister she's always been my end game. But something comes lurking out of the shadows. Something neither of us saw coming.

Loved it. I love small town romances. 🥰 even though I skipped Easton and Elle’s book (didn’t interest me at all) this has turned out to be a great series.

Gonna be honest though…when the fire happened at Tilly’s place, I was more worried about her hedgehog, Quilly Nelson, he just couldn’t go out like that 😫 thankfully, he was just fine lol

Book Review
Shadows of Timber Creek by SJ Chaynie
Release Date: 3.15.24

OVERALL RATING
5⭐️/5
2🌶️ /5
* SERIES: Timber Creek Series, Book 3 - This is book three of an interconnected standalone series. Shadows of Timber Creek is a small town, second chance, romantic suspense! Please check the triggers on this one it deals with some heavy topics including on page domestic abuse.
* POV: First Person Dual - Tilly and Greyson are my favorite yet! Grey is Tilly’s brother’s best friend and is asked by Adam to keep an eye on Tilly after her mother passes and man does he take that to the next level. The man falls so hard for her, and when he leaves to play in the NFL he does everything he possibly can to make sure she is still taken care of in every way. But, Tilly see’s his departure differently and literally HATES him for leaving her and breaking her heart - all she wants to do is move on with her life, to forget Grey. Easier said than done - and her journey through this is absolutely heartbreaking.
* SPICE - Open Door, Explicit - This one was definitely not spice driven (not that any of SJ Chaynie’s books are which I love!) but when it was done it is open door and so well done! Grey’s mouth is 🔥🔥🔥

THOUGHTS -
This book destroyed me emotionally! Tilly and Grey’s story was gut wrenching! The amount of bad they each went through to get to their HEA was ridiculous and just when you thought they were there SJ Chaynie would throw in one of her mind blowing plot twists and rip it all away! This series is binge worthy, all three books so far have been addicting quick reads I haven’t wanted to put down and I can’t wait to finish up with Whit’s story, accidental pregnancy is one of my favorite tropes!

I wasn’t a big fan of this one. The first two I loved. This was actually the one that made me want to read the series but it just annoyed me more than anything? I also didn’t expect the Lucy situation.

This book …omg. I couldn’t put it down! I’m so in love with these characters and this town. So invested. This spice and drama and love and development. This story just like the others was so amazing. To say I loved it is such an understatement. Tilly is such an amazing strong FMC I think she might be my favorite.

4.25⭐️- I am now in love with Timber Creek, CO.

This interconnected standalone romance follows recently engaged Tilly and her brothers best friend, Greyson, as they navigate their feelings for each other after Greyson abruptly left town seven years prior to play football in the NFL.

Trigger Warning for elements of abuse and gaslighting. It’s a small town, wrong time/right person, romantic thriller and I could not put it down!

I read this book in one day, cover to cover, because I could not put it down. I have been waiting for Tilly and Grayson's story since the beginning and this author did not let me down.

Tilly is a strong female character. While she is deaf, it is only a part of who she is and she refuses to let what others view as a handicap define her. She is going to live her life, her way, and keep her independence. Her heart on the other hand...well she gave that to Greyson Roy when she was 17 and never really got it back.

Greyson Roy is Tilly's older brother's best friend. Being a few years older, while Tilly was in high school, he was going off to college. When her mom died, Adam reached out to Grey to see if he could help pull Tilly from the depression she found herself in. Little did he realize Tilly would end up becoming so much more. But in an attempt to do the right thing, he let her go. He wanted her to live her life and not hold back for him.

After 7 years, the one that he let go, is now engaged. But not to him. Grey finds himself on a plane and heading back home, hoping to get back the girl who has always been his. But will he be too late?

This story pulled me in and would not let me go. On top of Grey trying to win Tilly back, he has some news that ultimately will redirect his entire life. Oh and throw in an investigation that isn't looking promising for one of our characters. There was so much and not enough. This author knows how to catch your attention and hold on to it.

At the end, however, SJ is going to set us up with book 4. And the plot pause to open that door had me screaming! You get your HEA for this love story, but now I'm looking forward to what comes next.

I highly recommend. Happy Reading Ya'll <3

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

I have wanted Tilly’s story since meeting her. She is a strong-willed independent woman even though she is deaf it does not and will not define her. She has the confidents that she is going to what she wants no matter what. However, she holds her heart close never wanting to give it away like she did with Grayson only to have it crushed again. She will not be that 17 year old girl again.

Tilly had a crush on her older brothers best friend Grayson when she was in high school only problem was he was older and headed to college. After her mother died Grayson was the only one who was able to reach her to pull her out of the darkness she was in. Grayson knew they were in two different points in their lives and put space between them.

Seven years later Grayson finds out his Rosie is going to marry another man. Let’s just say Grayson has something to say about that and is on the first plane home. It was amazing seeing these two journeys from the past up to the present. Only question is can Grayson he win his Rosie back or has he lost her forever?

I loved Tilly from the moment I meet her she is such an amazing character. Oh boy did Greyson catch my eye. These two have serious chemistry even if they tried to hold back. I loved Tilly and Greyson story the twists in this story were ones I didn’t see coming. This book had me turning pages like they were hotcakes. I needed to know what was going to happen and how this was going to end. Then when I was at the end I wanted more. I loved how this book sets up the next book and oh man am I so excited to see what is in store for Whit. I just know it will be every bit as good as the other books in this series.

“I saw Tilly Harper for what she always was. Mine.”

"Rosie, I don't know how to be any clearer." He steps to me, his palms land on each side of my face. "There is nothing more important to me than you."

With this being booked three of the timber Creek series, Tilly has been my favorite character be far; I have really loved and couldn’t wait for her to be the heroine.

Tilly has always had a crush on her brother’s best friend. Going through the death of her mother really put her in self isolation. When Greyson offers to help pull her out, he doesn’t expect for feelings to evolve.

Grayson has been gone for seven years, living out his pro football career. And when he goes through a rough time in his life, he goes to the one person he really could lean on.

Will time heal all wounds? Or have the bridges been burned and there’s no coming back?

SWOON!! Greyson Roy is 🔥. A fierce protector I mean dang. I also really like how S.J. didn’t make Tilly a meek woman. She is a strong, independent woman who can stand up for herself.

This book was so good and got me out of a major book slump I was in I read it in less than 12 hours and has me wanting more with book four. Book releases March 15th.

Thank you SJ for the ARC!! 🤍

I still need to read the first, but the second and third in this series are soo good!

✔️Brother’s best friend
✔️Deaf FMC
✔️Strong FMC
✔️Football player MMC
✔️Second chance
✔️Plot twist
✔️Short chapters

These aren’t just your everyday, typical, same as everyone before it romance novels. They are dramatic but sweet, spicy with good plots, suspenseful with HEA.

I’m in love with Tilly and Greyson. I’m a sucker for second chance romances anyway, but these too, together and as separate characters couldn’t be more amazing! The chemistry could already be felt in book 2, but had my toes curling in this book.

I can’t wait to see what else Chaynie gives us because I will read anything she writes!

This is the next book in the series and I was excited for it and as always S J Chaynie does not disappoint. This is the sweet town romance that we all love, it brings us the story of Tilly and Grayson and the intertwined life's of the other characters that we have grew to love.

A love that has spanned years, he is her brothers best friend, and she is his best friends little brother. Her crush never went away, as two much time passed and has too much happened between them for them to really move forward.

This is book is the ultimate page turner and once you start you will not want to put down. This book will keep you on your toes with the twists that you don’t see coming.

This full series flows so well together that we are already set up for the next book, cant wait.

This is my first book by this author, and I have to say I am impressed. I haven't read the rest of this series yet, but I definitely will now. I want to say that for the first half of this book, all I wanted to do was scream at Tilly for being so dumb about Blaine. That man was a tool. He pissed me off like no other. I get why Greyson did what he did when she was 17, but man, 7 years. My dude... that was way too long. All in all, this was a great read. Wish it had been a bit more spicy, but it's still a great read. Can't wait for the next.

I LOVED IT!!! SJ each book you write is better than the last!! Coming from a mom of a child born different I really loved the way you wrote about the main characters difference. Not a lot of authors are willing to write about a character with a difference or disadvantage.
The suspense was great. It kept my interest. I couldn’t stop reading! I had to know what happened next!
The spice was perfect. And the chemistry was unmatched!
The plot twist!!! Holy cow I didn’t see it coming.
The cliffhanger at the end though?? Now I must wait for the next book!

𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒌 is book 3 of the Timber Creek Series and is by far my FAVORITE one yet! I just love this town and these characters. 😩🫶
This is an Interconnected Standalone Series, but I do recommend reading books 1&2 because this one will contain spoilers.

Tilly is a force to be reckoned with and I love how her character shined with each book and then BOOM, here comes Tilly’s book full of everything we have been waiting for.

Greyson is the typical older brother’s best-friend who Tilly falls for first, and then he doesn’t want to admit but he starts to fall for her too…and harder…so what does he do? Disappear for seven years and become an NFL star to avoid feelings…until he finds out she’s engaged…and then buys a plan ticket home to intervene of course. 😂

The twists, turns, THE MURDER….I am telling you I couldn’t set this down. Then almost throwing the kindle because of that cliffhanger! I cannot wait for the next book.

Tropes include:
🏈 NFL Football Player
⛸️ Deaf Herione
🏈 Suspense
⛸️ Always Been You
🏈 Brother’s Bestfriend
⛸️ Small-Town Romance

Shadows of Timber Creek by SJ Chaynie

Another beautiful story in the Timber Creek series 🥹😭.

This is book 3 and it follows Tilly & Greyson. Tilly is engaged to someone else and when NFL star Greyson gets word of that? He’s immediately on a plane back to his hometown. (The energy we love to see!! >>)

The problem is, there’s lots of hurt feelings left between them. 7 years of not talking or seeing one another after leaving everything on a horrible note. He broke her heart when he left, and now he’s gotta work to fix his mistake.

The tension between these two is there immediately. And it’s SOO good. Banter and feelings and so much angst from the beginning!!

THE PLOT TWIST!! I never saw that coming. Wow. I was gasping!

Tropes: brother’s best friend • second chance • it’s always been you • small town • nfl player • deaf rep • romantic suspense

Thank you SJ for letting me read this early!!

This is my favorite read of the series. Tilly is fierce and doesn’t let anything get in her way. Grey is the most amazing Alphahole cinnamon roll you could imagine. Stubborn possessive and head over heels in love. This book gave me all the feels and the twist had me screaming at the book, “but he just got her!” This is probably my top read of 2024 so far. Way to go!!!

Book three in the Timber Creek Series. Never date your friend little sister. Especially don’t fall in love. Greyson walked away from Tilly and broke his own Heart. Now seven years later he hears that’s she’s engaged. He fights home over night. No more Mr. Nice guy, his taking his claim and taking Tilly for the ride of her life.

Ohh I loved Tilly and Greyson so much!

Greyson and Tilly went through a lot to get where they are now.

Greyson broke her 7 years ago with one word.
She gets engaged to someone else and he returns home to win his girl back over!!

Great Story

Love has no time limit. This story shows that perfectly. Absolutely loved that we see a character that has a disability but she doesn’t allow it to define who she is. I absolutely love the characters in this book.

Dnf at 75%. Honestly felt bored while reading. The mmc had some legal battles that didn't have any impact on the story (probably did during the culmination) but the story up until this point fell flat for me.

Yeah I get waiting until she was older but 7 years is too long. Especially since he “loved” her and was still sleeping with other women (but it was different since he treated them like nothing). Least favorite trope but at least she was with other people too.

Shadows of Timber Creek, Timber Creek book 3 by S.J. Chaynie
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
Oh boy. Greyson Roy you are one naughty and swoon worthy man. Look I am coming out of the gates with my favorite lines….”You are everything” followed by “Sit on my face NOW Rosie!!” Yes girls the same man who made me swoon also made my knees a little bit weak.
I gotta say Easton is still my main man but damn did Grey give him a run for his money.
This book is EVERYTHING you want with a Best Friend’s sibling and a little bit enemy to lover. The chemistry and sexual tension between Tilly/Rosie and Grey are OFF THE CHARTS!! Holy Moly. These two are meant to be together and yes there are legit reasons why Grey does the shady when he leaves 7 years ago…but he makes it up to her in so many ways as we discover through the novel. Every single time we learned of the ways Greyson “took care of Rosie” made my heartbeat faster. For real this book….swooooooooon. Tilly, as any heartbroken woman does…hides behind another man. LOL The story of her and Blaine is a wild ride.
The twists and turns of this story are great. I really had no clue who the bad guy was and was shocked when it all played out at the end. The end of the story gives us a glimpse into the next books and LAWD is it going to be good!! Whit is in trouble in a lot of ways.
I do want to say this is the 6th book I have read by this author. I love how her writing style is developing and her writing is just getting so much better. The first books were GREAT. I loved them but I feel like she is more confident. Her story telling had improved with each book. Her flow is much better. She is blowing me away with each additional story she is writing.
