Temptation Road #2

Speaking Of The Charmed Life

Rate this book
What if you DID choose between a life of fame and luxury, and you FOUND your truest love while restoring a whimsical Victorian house in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and you got MUCH more than you ever dreamed possible?
Reagan Hart and Fletcher Green are truly, madly, deeply in love, but their enchanted brand of love comes with a price, and there are those who would give their souls for a small piece of that magic. While Reagan was on the cusp of discovering earth-shattering joy in the Marys’ house, something caused her ex-husband to die of fright in a Los Angeles jail cell. Her new friend, Larissa, has come to Seven Devils to waitress at the Snakebite Café, but she’s really delving into the secrets and charms of that “little patch of magic” on Temptation Road. Ah, the Marys’ house, an utterly divine place where a few scattered dimes give a whole new meaning to “found money!” Meanwhile, people are changing AND an interesting trio has wandered out of the woods. “Keep sea-salt that has been blessed by your bedside, and good thoughts have more power than you know” Reagan is told. Fletcher longs to speak, to share all that he is with Reagan, but as far as words are concerned, this he knows for sure, “Choose well, thy choice is brief, yet endless.” Book Two in the Temptation Road Series is full of love and mystery, questions asked and questions answered, and enough magic to keep you spellbound beyond the very last word.

Hi, I'm Kimball Lee and I'd like to welcome you to the many worlds of my imagination! The topics of my novels and novella-series will vary, but my style of writing remains the same. I don't write 700 page books padded with useless words that take three pages to describe a doorknob! I do write funny, interesting, happy, sad, romantic, often titillating, and always thought provoking books that pack a lot good reading into just the right number of pages.
My first novella, Legal Action, changed my life over night with more than 250,000 downloads in the first months. I write twelve to fifteen hours a day and love ALMOST every minute of it! My social life has completely disappeared, but interaction with my readers through email, Facebook, and Twitter makes me very happy... (As well as the occasional Diet Coke and chocolate cupcake!) I am represented by Joyce Holland at D4EO Literary Agency. Happy reading! Kimball

I loved this book & did not find it confusing. I admit it is a different style that I am used to with Kimball but I do love her books.

I am dying to know what Fletcher is? Such a cliffhanger. Onto book 3 now.

I don't write 700 page books padded with useless words that take three chapters to describe a doorknob! – Kimball Lee
Temptation Road and Speaking of the Charmed Life, the two current editions of Lee’s series, speaks to the quoted comment regarding her writing style. This qualifies more as a short story, a novella, rather than a book, only 49 pages. And she attempts to stuff a world into these short pages, a world of mystery and magic which would have been much better served by a writer with a more expressive hand. Given that, there are still things to like about the book, even if I deeply wish that someone else had handled the writing. There is a world of beauty in the thought of the book – one that could create a world of wonder. A beautiful, magical house, wild creatures who wander into the yard and strop themselves against your knees. Hate and love and strangeness.
I will admit, however, that a writer friend of mine will probably love the idea of the novella over a long novel. She has three very small children, a house to run, and books to write, so novellas fit her needs exceptionally well. What I didn’t care for was the choppy delivery, the compression of what could have been beautiful paragraphs into single hard, choppy sentences. The flow simply wasn’t there.
The cover nearly kept me from reading the first book. It has no correlation to the story, instead appearing to be just a stock photo that fits with other books that Lee writes. If I hadn’t read the description, I wouldn’t have read it because the “sex me up” style doesn’t work for me. And those who expect “sex me up” book certainly will be disappointed.
The mysticism in the book is confusing, to say the least, though the good and evil characters are more interesting than most. In the second book, the relationship moves forward rather roughly, with a heavy overtone of punishment that pretty much creaped me out. The inability of Rae, the main female character, to accept the incredible gifts that she is given, instead winding into a whining, baby obsessed wreck, was truly disappointing. Though she is supposed to be more special than one can imagine, instead, she strikes me more as the type of woman who blows things totally out of proportion – spoiled. Meh.
Overall, I really wanted to like it more than I did. However, in many ways the book was oddly appealing. I know, sounds weird, huh? Gripe gripe gripe and yet I found it interesting enough to immediately download the next one and read it. I don’t know. I will get the next one simply because I am interested to see what happens next. I hope I am not disappointed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I would – but will be happy if I am not.

No it actually did tell me but in a good way.

So the beginning starts of from the ending in Book 1 Temptation Road. This time Kimball Lee nailed it.
It's a cliffhanger, suspense and just not what to expect. Yeah there were faults to the story but I wouldn't pay any mind to it.

Is it cheesy or is it romantic. Either way you decide. I just thought that it's intense.

Here we have Reagan who is a world renown famous model and then we have a romantic hot sexy mute Fletcher Green...

who is so dark sexy and mysterious. Can I say swoon makes me want to bow in front of him. LOL.

But yet the story doesn't fail at all. It just surprises you as you keep reading. So many twists and turns and then you feel like okay enough. But then your like eeeeww, OH WHAT THE HELL, or CRAZY ASS BITCH. But yeah Kimball Lee's writing is addictive (for me) and I like it. Just like her other books.

So I am waiting patiently for Book 3 to come out....

Loved it...BUT...

Kimball Lee has the ability to just sweep you away to Temptation Road, and I went willingly. Love both the characters and the style of writing.
BUT!!
I admit to feeling cheated. Unlike other ebooks I have read, this book doesn't list how many "real" pages it has, nor is it listed as a SHORT STORY. The first book was short as well, but I didn't check to see if that was noted, thinking that it was possibly an intro into a series. I figured this was a full sized book because SHORT STORY wasn't noted and the pages were over 1,000 with the system they use here. I immediately dove into this book. Imagine my shock when it was another SHORT STORY. Less than 150 actual pages-and these pages are smaller than a paper book.

No, I haven't bought the next one although I really want to read it. I guess it's the principal of it all. Whoever made the decision to market the series in this manner is someone that I wouldn't trust if I knew them personally. That may seem silly to you but it is what it is.

Great Follow-up

This book got more into the magic/spiritual side of Fletcher and Reagan. It explained a lot about the brothers and Reagan's past marriage.

I like the story and I think it really has potential to be great...I still cannot get over the feeling that many scenes are being skipped and character building opportunities are being passed over.
