Shadow Chaser

Rate this book
Her training prepared her for a shadow invasion, but it never prepared her for him.

Sonia Lowe is a shadow chaser with one purpose; destroy a shadow before it possesses a human. This is not because of her fondness of other people. In fact, she finds most people aggravating, but none more than Nick Hamilton. Her irritation at his persistent meddling only rivals her undeniable attraction to him.

A battle for a young woman’s soul brings them together. But will Sonia walk away from Nick when the fighting ends?

This was a free deal of the day book and I liked the concept so I thought I'd give it a shot. It didn't take me long to read it. Not a bad book at all, but definitely a fast read. I found the characters interesting and the storyline catchy. At times it felt a bit far-fetched, as far as the pace that the relationship between Sonia and Nick unfolds, but then again it is a fast fantasy so I guess things had to move fast. The constant pov switching was a bit confusing at times, and I've never read a book that did this kind of switch-up from paragraph to paragraph, and at times sentence to sentence. There wasn't much to alert you to the switch so you had to pay attention to who was saying/thinking what. At times the pov even switched to a supporting character. While it was fun to see inside both the main characters heads, it wasn't exactly typical third person, or omniscient. I don't know much about the author, but I'd say this is either a first book, or maybe she's a new writer. I think with some practice and polish she could churn out a great novel. It was good enough that I'd definitely consider reading more of her work.

A new evil

I like the style of writing. I also like this new evil, the shadows. The concept of good vs evil exists in a lot of books but in this story St Michael chooses his earth bound warriors. Look forward to reading more of how Lydia's life evolves.
