A sapphic cozy fantasy romance between Vespera Crimsonblade, leader of the notorious Crimson Ledger merchant's guild, and the Onyxanthe sorceress Lyna Shaddah as they navigate the changing winds of fate in Luminara.

3.75⭐️. Very interesting story with lots of magic and lots of steam. Lyna’s development was masterful. The tension between the MCs was palpable as they developed in their relationship and truly had each others back no matter what. Starting as a working relationship to a fake romantic one to trying to fight and deny those pesky real emotions and feelings to the hea they deserve.
There was a lot of repetition and back and forth that sometimes seemed more forced to extend the story instead of a natural flow.
This was my first book by this author and in this world and I would love to read more as the concepts and connections and the world itself were engaging and kept me interested past the repetition.

In this book, Vespera, the baddie from book one, Starlight and Shadows, is the main character alongside Lyna, one of the members of the Crimson Ledger. Both have pasts that have shaped them, but both have futures they will fight for. Lyna is a contradiction of light and darkness and has a secret wish to destroy their past using a benevolent source that they believe they can control. Vespera needs a fake bride to get half her inheritance. I really enjoyed the book but there are a couple of things that stood out, the first being Lyna was mostly they/them but was also she/her a few times which was confusing. Secondly the book had paragraphs that were more or less a repeat of what had already been said. Other than that it was a thrilling ride.

3.75/5 stars! I'll be honest. I only picked up this book because the cover was stunning. I hadn't read the previous three books in this series, but this story felt comfortable as a standalone. The spice in the story was handled well and their chemistry was palpable. I struggled with the length of this book, however. I think it could have accomplished the same thing in 75-100 pages less.
Ok, so Vera has me in and out of my feelings with her writing.
I love her attention to detail in her world-building and her ability to make these characters of fantasy feel like real people. It was easy to become invested in the conflict and romance.
I am still getting us to the pronouns that are used. It causes me to read some areas twice to understand who is speaking but that is my problem.
I can't wait for the next book!

I liked this book. Despite not yet having read others in this series/universe, it did not really affect my reading experience. I like the characters and the way the story written. The descriptions were nicely elaborate enough to set the scene and give you a clear picture. There were a few instances here and there where the pronouns seemed confused, but that was not enough of a trigger for me to completely put me off the book. Overall it's a good story.
The story was really interesting and I kept reading just to find out what would happen. I like the characters that I got to meet through a previous book and seeing the growth in the MCs was rewarding. I struggled following along with the time line in this book. It's jumped back and forth between the past and the present and I had a hard time knowing which time they were in.
This was like a 3.5 out of 5 for me. I enjoyed the basic premise of the plot and the character ARC for Lyna. I do feel like some points were drawn out where others felt they could have been explained more. The cover art drew me in, but I feel the story could have been shorter/more concise.
In a time where evil threatens the existence of this world. True love breaks through and finds the life. A lesson that evil lingers but good shall also exists. In the end it is the equanimity of life and the evolution of ourselves that saves us.
I knew something was familiar, as I did not realize it was part of a series and that I had read boon 1. I like that this books shows that we can have both darkness and light in us and find a balance, specially when we have LOVE!
AI Garbage - AI cover, AI writing. If you're not interested in creating art, don't create art. Go work at McDonald's or something and contribute to society for once.
To my great disappointment, this book is apparently AI-generated.
the beautiful cover and the book itself was apparently written by an AI, there are points in this book --and in others(so ive heard) by this same author-- where the dialogue is stilted and unnatural and the plot makes zero sense.
a quick google search on the author will bring you to an obvious stock image of the supposed author Vera Winters, along with a nonsensically vague description of the author and the content that they write.
I really wish someone would make a book like this! Obviously, theres a market for it! Just reuse the same book cover and write some quality content PLEASE IM BEGGING! As a queer nerd who loves cozy fantasy, dungeons and dragons, and sapphic second chance romance, this is right up my ally. I didn't even know AI generated books were a THING until i found this book! now im just so disappointed, i feel like ive been jilted. where is my sapphic enemies-to-lovers storyline that i came here for?? where is my treat?
the cover art is really beautiful, and its what pulled me in in the first place. I picked this one up after finishing Legends and Latte's hoping to find some cozy fantasy, some actual spice, and maybe a fun story, but was disappointed to find that the whole thing was fake!! I'm currently reading A Game of Hearts and Heists (similar storyline: magical world, steamy tension between two past lovers who happen to be skilled assassins and have to work together for a common enemy), so HOPEFULLY i get my fix there, but who knows? pray for me.
