Benjamin Franklin: Revolutionary Inventor

Rate this book
What do libraries, streetlights, and fire stations have in common? What about bifocal lenses and the odometer? Sayings like “haste makes waste?” Benjamin Franklin was a man of many talents: a scientist who experimented with electricity; a diplomat who served as envoy to France and negotiated peace with England; a mapmaker, printer, and writer famous for his Poor Richard’s Almanack. He signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and established America’s first hospital. The list of his accomplishments is astonishing and wide ranging. When he lived, his work touched the lives of every person in the new United States of America; some three hundred years later, he continues to fascinate, amaze, and inspire today’s young readers.

The biography of Benjamin Franklin is increadably informational as well as inspirational. Despite growing up with 17 brohters and sisters, and not having a lot of money, Benjamin Franklin went out and acomplished the most he could. He opened up a printing business, had nearly 1,000 patents, and was a major factor in the Revelutionary War against Great Britin. This book is very imformitive and at the same time very interesting. This story is very inspiring to work harder and accomplish more. The descriptive paragraphs and highly detailed illistrations makes this book a biography that is glued to your hands. Any reader wanting to write a report or wanting to learn about a man who has accomplished many achievements would enjoy this book. This biography of Benjamin Franklin will fill your brain with knowlege and exitement. I would highly recomend this story, and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

I wanted to compare this to the Childhood of Famous Americans series I read as a child. This is very different - real info, not so much a made up story as the CFA series - and lots of illustrations/photos. Franklin's "foibles" were mentioned and explained, which I thought was interesting considering the younger audience. I liked this book and would recommend it.

I was raised and born in Uruguay, so, my school taught me just a few things of few of the great leaders that the United States of America has had. This little biography taught me the essentials of one of those great leaders that this country has had, Benjamin Franklin. It also motivated me and it enlightened my mind.
