Jessie and Mauri Brewster: Man and wife. Parents. Best friends. Survivors.
Jessie travels for his work…a lot. His worst fear is being away when there is an emergency at home. He has confidence in Mauri to take care of things – she always does – but it’s just the kind of guy he is. With his cell phone off for the night Jessie has missed the frantic calls from Mauri who is at home with their children in Massachusetts. The chaos that started the night before on the island of Manhattan has had nine hours to spread. As Jessie races from his hotel in New Jersey to get back to his family Mauri has to act fast with their two little ones in tow as the insanity comes north. They are separated by three hundred miles and three million zombies. Never tell them the odds.
Jessie’s plan sounds simple enough: Get from Jersey to Massachusetts, find his family and get someplace where there are no zombies. He never knew so much could go so wrong so fast. “The system” breaks down almost immediately. Once the infection escapes Manhattan all hope of containment is lost. The government draws a line in the sand at the Rocky Mountains and wishes the rest of the country good luck as they plan to drop bombs on the “infected zone.” Anyone uninfected in the east is given seventy two hours to get to processing stations along the Rockies. Those who don’t have the means to make it are on their own.
As society unravels and survivors try to stake their claim in the “Old US” The Brewster’s realize zombies are the least of their problems.
SAWKILL STORIES: THE SILVER TOWER
The Silver Tower is an exclusive high-rise condo complex in lower Manhattan. The residents are a who’s who of the city’s elite athletes, brokers and entertainers. The building is a state of the art facility equipped with all the comforts, excesses and security measures one could ask for. From the full service day spa to voice activated appliances to the Starbucks in the lobby there is no luxury too great.
Kimberly is the onsite manager. Dixon is a former Secret Service agent and the head of security. Together they act fast to drop the security shutters and seal the Silver Tower’s eclectic group of tenants in. They are safe from the Zombie Apocalypse that is spiraling out of control on the streets all around them, but not from each other.
This is a tale of the undead like no other. It’s not about surviving the outbreak. It’s about surviving with your fellow humans and keeping the fragile notions of peace and order as everything goes to hell.
SAWKILL STORIES: CORA
A man is running from the end of the world with his baby girl. He makes a routine stop to loot a store of it's diapers & formula when the unimaginable happens.
It's been something like 8 years or so since I first picked this up. And I think I'm angry with this book now. It ends with a cliff hanger and there's no other book to pick up and find out what Jessie's plan was now that he's back on the island.
Other than that, this book was as enjoyable bow as it was when I first picked it up.
The pacing is good and most other authors may have tried to spin this into a three part series.

Holy shit. This book was incredible. From the moment I picked it up it surprised me and captivated all of my attention. I would be sitting at work wondering how Jessie was going to find his family and where they would go with the latest news from the President just broadcast.
I can't wait for book two to be released. I will be buying that the first day it is available. I need to know what happens to the residents of town and the terrorists controlling the areas around them.
This book also contained a related short story called Cora which told of story of a father and his daughter as they traveled across the country to the quarantine zone and to safety. A routine stop for supplies might be more than they bargained for. Enjoyable but no real resolution as your left waiting to know what happens. Which, as a father to a baby girl, made me happy as I don't want to know what happened to Cora.
"The Silver Tower" was also included that good the ultimate story of survival in the new world when you get trapped in a collapsed building.
Jessie, jeesie .....Jessie, talk about a guy with many death wishes . This book had me on the edge of my seat. On several occasions this book had me in tears and the the other I would be mad when jessie got bitten all I could do was cry and curse him. Because he left his family behind but then I knew he was smarter then that. He wouldn't just kill himself without seeing how the virus's would spread. I'm gald he didn't. The other book that a preview to this one was crazy how could she do that no matter how hungry you are. Eatting your girlfriend really eww. I'm glad she got what came to her. I'm really interested in reading Cora. A father that would do anything for his daughter. Read this if you like zombie books it's really good.
This is 3 books in one that all take place at the same time. The first is the longest story that gives you the lay of the land and has good characters that are well developed. The other two stories are much shorter and take place during the same basic time period but with new characters in other areas. All in all I enjoyed the whole thing. The writing was good with only a few typos along the way. When I get books for free I can read them and usually don't complain much. If you like zombie stories, like I do, then give this a try.
I probably should have given this book a two star review due to the numerous grammatical errors in it. However, the author did a good job on the plot of his story and the development of his primary character. So, if you can make it past the grammatical errors, it makes for an entertaining zombie story.
You have to read the short stories after the main one! The more you read the more disturbing it gets! I think this one will be hard to forget for awhile. The author does a very good job of exposing you to many different types of people and how they handle being in a crisis so differently. What a rush!!!
If so than look no further than SAWKILL: A ZOMBIE NOVEL! I've read many & this is one of the best. Unique story with lots of surprises in store. Recommended!
