One of the most common complaints about musicals is that the books are flimsy pretexts from which to hang numbers. Wicked runs into the opposite it has a great plot, but too often the songs just get in the way. Based on Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, Wicked tells us what happened between Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, before Dorothy showed up in Oz.
I can do anything I want. I am the Wicked Witch of the West!
I didn't realize my face was wet until the end of this masterpiece. But, I am not crying, you are!!
This shares the reason behind the Tin Man, the scarecrow, and of course, the Wicked Witch of the West. I hadn't read the Wizard of Oz properly, though this was still understandable.
read this on a 60 page pdf in an hour but still thought i should share! had to read this because i am now OBSESSED with this musical after seeing the movie and i had find out what happened next! counting down the days until next year💔
Bamboozled, overwhelmed and magically depressed ✩°。⋆⸜(˙꒳˙ )
As someone who's never experienced the Broadway show or consumed any WWW stories whatsoever, I was intrigued by the recent trailers for the upcoming Wicked movie, so I intended to emotionally prepare myself and skim through the original script. But boy, I didn't stack enough tissues for this roller coaster of an experience.
In the shortest span of pages this story gathers together so many beautiful lyrics, societal issues, persecuted disruptors, harrowing coping mechanisms and painful twists, that left me a sad exhausted mess. Elphaba has my whole heart.
I might need to browse through the original book, look up the songs and even put together a sing along playlist for research purposes. Still, if you'll excuse my corniness, I can't help but think that because I've read this, I might have been changed for the better 🎵٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡

I ended up in tears because of this beautiful, touching and magical musical. The music trully transmit the essence of each character, the story is simple, but not plain. Everyone changes, even the vision that I had of the original story of "The Wizard of Oz", whose elements have their perfect-connected roots in the story of Elphaba and Glinda.
