Another grumpy Christmas hero. This was mediocre but tolerable. It read really fast and had short chapters but the story was just ok. The FMC was sunshine and happy and outgoing so it didn’t track that she planned on staying alone in a cabin for Christmas. She had close family, friends and a child, I needed more explanation as to why she would be renting this cabin to be alone in the first place. Just to have the isolated together set up, I guess. Authors of contemporary romance like to think their readers are morons.
Anyway other than the illogical set up and the HEAVY comparison between the FMC and the MMC’s first wife, this was a low stakes, easy read. The dirty talk was pretty cringey and the sex was extremely fast, this guy was a two pump chump - fade to black might have been a better option. I hate ftb, but it’s better than reading bad sex.
But it was short and not the worst Christmas read out there.
Number 2 in my game of ‘read Christmas books with vintage red trucks on the cover’ and no red trucks made an appearance in the text.

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance between two single parents (one a Major League Baseball player) snowed in together. Steamy and full of heart - the perfect, quick holiday read! I loved the grumpy/sunshine dynamics and the unique Goldilocks retelling! I was sad to this end and would have liked more. Perfect for fans of the Bromance book club series!

This little holiday mix-up, single parent story was such a cute little novella with perfect little miss sunshine to balance out the grumpy bear. From the mix-up of the house being booked when it shouldn't, to crashing her car into the gate, nothing seems to be going right for Natalie's vacation, including the bear of a man, Declan, who own's the home and will now be spending the week with Natalie.
This wasn't Declan's dream holiday that he was trying to spend with his son.
Can this Goldilocks tame the grumpy bear and survive the holiday?

This was a cute little novella about a perky teacher and a not-so-perky baseball player who collide together for Christmas. Elle and Declan are both single parents trying to make the most of their first solo holiday. Kinda predictable, hella cheesy, nicely cozy and Christmasy!

Lordy I absolutely loved this Christmas Novella!!!! It was the perfect blend of grumpy - sunshine mixed up on a hallmark movie package!!
Declan is a true grump an I am all about it. He can count on his hand the number of times he’s truly been happy - the birth of son Chris and being the Metros 3rd Baseman, yep that’s it. Well that is until Natalie literally crashes into his life.
Natalie thought she was getting a quiet week away from mom duty but when the house she’s renting turns out to be booked by the owner those plans change.
I loved these to so much - Christmas week is suppose to be fun and about love and Natalie shows Declan just how to have fun again and it’s beautiful.
Add this one to your Christmas reads! You will not be disappointed. You get all the hallmark love. This grinch will make your heart grow three sizes.

The perfect story for this Christmas
He was definitely a grumpy and she was his sunshine, with all the smiles, dancing and singing. I loved Declan and Natalie’s story so much. I finished at 3am can’t stop reading. This snowed-in story was the perfect combination of love, laughter and steamy. Seeing them fall for each other was pretty amazing. Every thing they did together made their connection more strong and so romantic. Chris and Abby definitely add the perfect amount of sweetness to the story. I loved all the banter and the silly things here, makes the story so much better. This is the perfect romcom story for the Holidays. Can’t wait for more of Kacie West!!! It was *chef kiss* perfect. Congratulations.

Such a cute story! This was my first read from this author duo, and I enjoyed it.
Natalie just wanted a week to herself to unwind, as her ex had her daughter for the holiday. What she got was a grumpy single dad who wanted to enjoy Christmas in his cabin, with his son.
The way she wiggles into their hearts was both sweet and authentic. Her chemistry with Declan was steamy and impossible to ignore, and the way this storyline wrapped up was exactly what I wanted for them.
I recommend this read and look forward to another from this author duo.

A funny, grumpy holiday romance story to get you ready for the holidays. The grumpy single, baseball player dad Declan finds himself spending the Christmas holidays with a sweet teacher Natalie, who his son finds a friend with. Between Natalie's mishaps, Declan's grumpiness and tons of snow there is lots of laughs and great chemistry between Natalie and Declan that gives an amazing story from start to finish. Highly recommend!!

Snowed In Romance.
What a fun story to read in the festive season. It has all the things I like in a romcom. Plenty of banter, quirky moments, grumpy hero who’s really a gentle teddy bear, and good wit. Throw in some adorable kids and sports themed and I’m a happy girl. I’ll definitely be looking for more from these authors.

I loved everything about this book! The family dynamic between Declan and his son Chris was sweet and endearing, and the connection between both of them and Natalie was swoonworthy. It was almost like reading a Hallmark movie, complete with Christmas theme! Highly recommend this book!

Sometimes good love stories don’t need to be long and epic to be perfect. Five stars just for the sheer joy and sweetness and simplicity of this story. A great, spicy holiday novella with snowed in, forced proximity and a fun grumpy/sunshine dynamic, with a precocious, kids say the darndest things six year old son. I’ve been reading a lot of very dark romances lately, and this was exactly what I needed to take some of the edge off. Declan and Natalie’s story is equally sweet and steamy, with chemistry and just a sprinkling of drama to keep things a little interesting.

This book was a cute enough holiday read. I chose this one to finish out my month long “only read holiday themed books” challenge for December. There was nothing really wrong with it, but nothing really stood out for me either. I didn’t really feel invested in the characters or the romance, but it was better than some of the Christmas books I read this year.

I love how Natalie was with Chris and Declan. She definitely brought out a lot in both of them which was so sweet. Also, love how they showed up to her place after Addy had gotten hurt. Natalie had me laughing when she kept calling what Declan did pretty much anything other than “baseball.”

I honestly loved Declan & Natalie’s story. Talk about grump!!! Ha Kacie wasn’t playing with his character. 😻 Natalie’s character I loved & their chemistry was so good. Personally I loved this read. I couldn’t put it down!! I definitely recommend.

Like I could scroll past a book called Goldilocks and the Grumpy Bear and not immediately read it.
This is a sweet little festive novella that you will devour in one reading which has lots of great tropes - forced proximity, single dad, single mum, professional baseball player, cute kids, grumpy X sunshine.
Single mum Natalie is spending Christmas alone in a cabin since her daughter is spending Christmas with her dad. Until Declan and his six year old turn up at their cabin to find that his brother has rented out the cabin to Natalie by mistake.
Grumpy Declan is less than thrilled when a snow storm means that Natalie can't leave and they are forced to spend the holidays together.
There is so much cuteness in this book - snowball fights and snowman building, decorating trees, making cookies….it's a feast for your festive loving heart.
It's well worth a little read if you have a couple of free hours and want to feel all the sweet Christmas vibes.

Okay so I know this was a novella and only 113 pages...but wow did things move fast. Unfortunately this one didn't do it for me, despite the promising snowed-in at an airbnb/mistaken reservation mishap over Christmas plotline.

Quick read….I enjoyed the characters a lot but I needed more story which is why I usually avoid quick reads but this was a new to me author/authors and I wanted to get an idea of their writing style. I will definitely be reading more from Kaycee West/Jenni Bara/AJ Ranney.

I originally picked this one up after seeing a review on my Goodreads feed because I thought it was by YA author Kasie West. I don't want anyone to be confused. This book is actually by Jenni Bara and A.J. Ranney writing as Kacie West, who is evidently a fictional author character in one of Bara's books.
Anyways. I had so much fun reading this hilarious and slightly steamy Christmas romance. If you enjoy the whole grumpy/sunshine trope, you will love the dynamics and chemistry between Declan and Natalie. Their kids just add even more cuteness and fun to the mix. It was a great book to read at the holidays and would still be fun any time of the year.
Anyways. I had so much fun reading this hilarious and slightly steamy Christmas romance. Deanna recommended this to me and I'm glad she did cos otherwise I would've missed out on a cute holiday novella! This was funny, sweet, and sexy and I have to admit that while the instalove would've normally irritated me and there were some things that didn't 100% make sense, I simply didn't mind because this was a good-time read and I finished it in a couple of hours! That said, if you really can't stand instalove or if your logic brain takes over and says "this doesn't make sense" and ruins the story for you (which I totally get), then this will very likely not be for you. Again, I personally didn't mind it this time and this novella was exactly the easy read I was looking for.
Their not-so-meet-cute was funny and from there we get one incident after another that forces Natalie to stay in the cabin with Declan and his son, Chris, and they end up spending the week stuck together in this isolated cabin in a middle-of-nowhere town in the mountains. It was cute how Declan relaxed around Natalie as she proceeded to do with Chris what she'd normally do with her little girl, Addy. There was Christmas cookie baking, snowman making, Christmas tree picking and decorating, and all the re-watches of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It was cute and heartwarming and I liked the dynamic that they developed, no matter how quickly it did happen. Speaking of quick, the romance also progressed at a very speedy and not very plausible rate, but as I've already mentioned earlier, I didn't mind it overly much and was able to shove my logic brain to the side for this. 😂
Natalie and Declan had great chemistry and I guess it tracks that two attractive people with no attachments who get stuck together in such close proximity would end up feeling an attraction to each other. Especially when one of them is so great with your kid and is the total opposite of the controlling horror show that is your ex-partner. With all those sparks flying, it was inevitable that they'd end up hooking up and it was hot! 🔥 The ending was definitely rushed but it was a satisfying HEA, if not a little too perfectly tied up, but overall, I really enjoyed this! It made me curious about the other players mentioned in this book and I might just have to look up the series they're part of now!

Goldilocks and the Grumpy Bear is a snowed-in, grumpy-vs-sunshine romance that is loosely inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears (to be followed by several more similarly inspired novellas--yay!). Two author friends, Jenni Bara and A.J. Ranney were inspired by the pen name used by a character in Bara's More Than a Hero , Kacie West, to team up and give the "author" some stories. This is the first, and for readers of Bara's Becoming an Evans series, the hero is a Metros teammate of Corey, Marc, and Ryan. Don't worry, though--even if you haven't met a single Evans yet, you'll still enjoy this fun holiday story.
The grumpy/sunshine trope is becoming one of my favorites, and it lends itself perfectly to a holiday romance where the two seemingly incompatible main characters are stuck together thanks to Mother Nature's warped sense of humor. And making one of them into a "grumpy papa bear?" The icing on the gingerbread cookie, of course. Declan and Goldilocks--I mean, Natalie--are really cute together, and I loved that both of these single parents were so good at being there for their children but still managing to find time for themselves. (Well, Declan needed a little more help with this thanks to his toxic ex, but Natalie had everything ironed out there for everyone by the end.)
My only real complaint (other than how a character from an established series is writing about characters who know/work with/are friends with characters in that series--don't think too hard about it, lol) is that I wanted this to be longer ;)

You have Single Mom Natalie spending Christmas alone in a cozy cabin in the Adirondacks while her daughter Addy is with her father. She finds herself in a bit of a pickle when there's a mixup and she ends up snowed in with the very attractive Grumpy Single Dad, Baseball Player Declan & his son Chris.
Although they get off to a rough start its the perfect distraction for Natalie who is missing her daughter this year for Christmas. But also the perfect chance for Chris to see his dad shed his grumpy ways and bond with his son with Natalie's help. The bond that grew between Natalie and Chris was so cute to watch. He soaked up all the love and attention she gave him. And he got to be a kid. I loved all of the little moments where they were just able to let go and have fun together. Which showed Declan how life and love could really be. One week is all it takes for Declan and Natalie to find love and their second chances at happiness. I epilogue was the perfect ending! With their little blended family. I loved the little moment with Declan & Addy! So sweet!! Although i never wanted it to end, I absolutely loved this holiday novella! (I especially loved the little cameos from some of our favorite side characters!) Love love love!! 5 ⭐️s for sure!! ❤️

With their little blended family. I loved the little moment with Declan & Addy! So sweet!! Although i never wanted it to end, I absolutely loved this holiday novella! (I especially loved the little cameos from some of our favorite side characters!) Love love love!! 5 ⭐️s for sure!! ❤️
