All it takes is one smile from the gorgeous bartender for me to make up the dumbest lie I’ll ever tell.

Who pretends to be broke?

Apparently, I do because I’m no longer Peter Caruso, billionaire owner of All Out Brewery. I’m just the claustrophobic delivery driver Cara agrees to date.

Suddenly I’m walking up hundreds of stairs, skipping the expensive restaurants, and forgetting I can’t afford box seats to professional sporting events all to impress the woman who is quickly stealing my heart.

But when she finds out who I am, will I need to lock her in a pumpkin just to keep her.

This quick little story was interesting from beginning to end. The rom com aspect of it was a little odd, not sure that I found it was funny just more like an awkward piece of a relationship. It is fast paced because it’s a short novel, so you have to know that going in. I wish there was more spice! It seemed minimal. Loved the CEO and law student vibes, plus his need to shower her with whatever she wants - I’ll always eat that up. This is a good quick palate cleanser for those who need it.

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 💫 (3.75)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

CEO, Peter, is facing a delivery drive strike, so he takes on the route himself to prove it’s doable. In doing so, he runs into a bartender who’s always finding herself in calamity, Cara. He pretends to be this driver to keep her attention, but he knows he needs to come clean on who he really is.

Thank you Kacie West and @theauthor.agency for the arc.

Peter Caruso, the owner and CEO of All Out Brewing, has been in negotiations with his company's delivery drivers on a new contract for some time, but the two sides remain far apart and the drivers are now threatening to strike. Pete thinks the drivers are being unreasonable in their demands and that anyone should be able to do what he considers to be such a simple job, so when one of the drivers dares him to take on his route for the day, he arrogantly agrees. If Pete succeeds, the drivers will agree to the contract he's proposed. If not, he will agree to their demands.

Pete's day of deliveries turns out to be a disaster and he realizes that the drivers were right. The only bright spot is meeting Cara, a law student who's working as a bartender at one of the stops on his route. Accidentally spraying her with beer while trying to tap a keg wasn't exactly his best move, but he still manages to convince her to go out with him. The problem is that Cara thinks Pete is a blue collar delivery driver, not a wealthy CEO with a reputation for being a jerk. When she learns the truth, will Pete be able to convince Cara to give him a chance?

This was such a fun story! It was immediately apparent how out of touch Pete was with reality, and I loved seeing him experience life without so many of the privileges he was used to. He wasn't a bad guy, though he did come across as a jerk sometimes. He certainly had a soft spot for the people he loved, especially Cara. The way he doted on her was very sweet. As for Cara, I loved how smart she was and that she wasn't afraid to share her ideas with Pete. She stood up to him and pointed out whenever he was being a jerk, but he gave her a chance to experience some of the finer things in life because of the way he cared for her. In the end, they balanced each other perfectly; she grounded him without taking away the edge he needed to be successful in business.

I highly recommend "Peter Pumpkined Out" for all contemporary romance and rom-com fans. I can't wait to find out what the authors come up with next. (I hope it will be a story for Danny and Glory!)

“We can talk in the pumpkin.”

OMG!! This novella was such a fun fall read. I genuinely had such a good time reading this Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater retelling.

Peter Pumpkined Out is a modern retelling of the classic nursery rhyme everyone knew as a child. This novella follows our mmc Peter who’s a rich brewing company owner and our fmc Cara who works at a bar that Peter brews for.

Peter is such a funny guy. He tried his hardest to seem “normal” for Cara but just failed so miserably it was adorable but also incredibly frustrating. Cara was such a normal girl though and I really liked how she wasn’t written to be some out of touch girl. I overall thought both of these characters worked really well together.

The plot itself was fast-paced and still flowed very nicely, considering it was a novella. While I did tend to think it was a little too insta-love for me I’m sure other people would love the connection between these two.

Overall, Peter Pumpkined Out by Kacie West was a fun fall novella that took a fun role in modernizing Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater.

A huge thank you to The Author Agency and Kacie West for an EArc of this novella in exchange for an honest review!!

Quick and cute - slightly forgettable? Which makes me feel kind of terrible bc how amazingly sweet the authors are. The BSDM thing was weird and I think it was supposed to be funny but fell a little flat to me.

This was such a fun read. Peter starts off as a major jerk, but Cara helps show him the error of his ways in this romance with so many misunderstandings. So much of the comedy was based on these two not communicating and do in crazy things because of it.

This was a very quick and easy read with very little angst. I think this is part of series based on nursery rhymes, but I did not see much comparison with the Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater except when they got locked in a pumpkin shell, and that was a little confusing on its own. Lol

If you are looking for a fun read with an autumn theme, this is a great one!

Calamity Cara and Pumpkin Pete!

I’m hoping this isn’t the last of these books. This one had me cracking up quite a few times throughout. Pete and Cara weren’t always on the same page, but it made for some good humor. I loved how he tried his best to impress her without being showy and I adored he was willing to go to places he’d never been before….and I don’t mean traveling! Their miscommunication and lack of knowledge in that field was funny. I think they were a cute couple and I can’t wait to read that they have entered the parenting world along with Owen and Danny. Speaking of Danny….surely he must be getting his own book too? Time to look into that.

Another cute and creative sexy nursery rhyme retelling from Kacie West (AKA Jenni Bara and A.J. Ranney)! And the formatting inside the book is also absolutely adorable--I loved how the main events of each chapter inspired the doodles at the beginning. Such a cute detail!

Peter Pumpkined Out is--of course-a loose retelling of "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater." This is a good thing, IMO, because--surely it's not just me?--the actual rhyme is really...odd. The authors do manage to cleverly bring *one* of the lines into their story (not going to spoil it! You'll have to read it yourself to see ;) ), but other than a few other pumpkin references and the fact that the hero's name is Peter, it's essentially its own story and that's fine.

Well, its own story that is also related to other books by the authors--it's in the same universe as the other "smutty nursery rhymes" by Kacie; Peter is friends with Along Came the Girl 's Owen, who he is playing chess with via text here. If you've read Ms Bara's More Than A Hero --where the Kacie West pen name comes from--this story is what Morgan (AKA the "Kacie West" who lives in Jenni Bara's fictional Evans Family universe) was writing during that book.

It's a super fun scene--if you don't remember it, no worries, because Ms Ranney lets us know which one it is in the author's note at the end and even if you're reading this as a standalone, it's still a lot of fun on its own.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Peter in the beginning--he's a major jerk, so we're not really supposed to--but meeting Cara inspires him to be a better guy, and fortunately for everyone, it sticks. Cara's an admirable heroine--the law student who's working as a bartender to make ends meet and doesn't let Peter's wealth (once she knows he has it, that is!) change her--and it was easy to root for her from the beginning.

Though I did enjoy this story overall, it made me a little crazy that so much of the "com" of this particular rom com depended on Peter and Cara not discussing a particular misconception that their meet cute leaves him with. It went on for way too long to really make sense, and it did end up influencing my rating.

And don't get me wrong, I *love* that the authors decided to write the stories that Jenni Bara's fictional character and romance author Morgan supposedly writes--such a fun idea! But why would Morgan, who has now become a member of the Evans family, be putting the Evanses (Danny Evans was Peter's college roommate and is still his BBF here with plenty of page time) and her universe's "real life" Metros baseball team and its players into her fictional romances? That just will never make sense to me. It didn't effect my rating, but it does make me kinda crazy while reading, this book perhaps more than the others. I get wanting to have callbacks to other books/series in your books, but this is supposed to be Morgan's book. Just its existence is the callback.

But I digress.

The author's note tells us that we have Humpty Dumpty and the Little Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe to look forward to next year, and I can't wait to see how those childhood classics are adapted into a modern day rom com!

Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B

Peter Pumpkined Out is a quick but fun read by the writing duo known as Kacie West. This is the first book I've read from Kacie and it for sure will not be the last.

Peter Pumpkined Out has:
🎃 Mistaken Identity
🎃 Grumpy/Sunshine
🎃 Billionaire
🎃 LOL moments
and so much more.

Peter and Cara's story was so fun to read. It's lighthearted, low on the drama and angst and really just a fantastic easy read. I think I sat down and read this book cover to cover within a couple hours- so a little longer than a novella but definitely not a girthy long investment kind of book. Peter was all about cost saving and spending the bare minimum until that attitude brought about a delivery strike for his family's beer company, All Out. To prove a point he agreed to take on a delivery route- only to find that not only would he would be eating his words but he would cross paths with a beautiful bartender that intrigued him. Only problem- she thought he was a delivery driver and not the a-hole CEO she heard so much about.

I loved how sassy and smart Cara is and her incredibly clumsy or catastrophic nature just added to the silly moments in the story. Peter grew a lot in the book- he went from holding his essentially disliked nature like a badge of honor to being a more compassionate kind of boss thanks to not wanting Cara to see the worst in him. But like a lot of billionaire romances- he did just kind of throw money at things to fix every problem as they arose. Sometimes that would get an eye roll while others it just kind of made the story more entertaining. Like the long standing miscommunication for their preferences when it came to sexy times. It seems like only these two would find themselves in a BDSM-esque situation because they simply just went along with what they thought the other wanted. I think because the story is on the shorter side, I do miss some of the moments that kind of build their relationship a bit. They kind of go from meeting to full on relationship fairly quickly- and while I have no qualms on the speed of their relationship because Cara and Peter really do kind of click and make sense together- I feel like I wanted a little more of those interactions where they are getting to know each other and falling into this easy relationship.

I really enjoyed the added interactions with Peter/Cara's friends- I will definitely be going back and reading Owen's story in Along Came the Girl and I hope that Danny and Glory will be getting a second chance coming up in the future!

This book was fun to read, the story is fast and charming.

Our FMC Cara is a law student who works as a waitress in a bar, let’s say she is normal (compared to other characters I’ve read), she doesn’t have a bad past or anything like that, she just wants to find time to do the things she likes and this is where I found her real. Peter on the other hand is the CEO of a very popular brewery in Long Island, he is one of those bosses who believe that having a happy employee is not worth it but everything changes when he meets Cara, he for obvious reasons hides who he is and from there starts a whole journey between these two.

The story was fun, I loved that there wasn’t so much drama when Cara discovered who Peter was and there is also a little bit of lack of communication but I tell you that it is completely worth reading it because I fell out of laughter just for that part.

Thanks to the author & The Author Agency for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!!

---

I loved this story. It was a fun take on the old story of Peter Pumpkin Eater merged with the loose idea of the TV show “Undercover Boss.” It was a great way for the main characters to meet. For the main male character to get a dose of reality and grow from his lack of inexperience. It’s also a great fall read and since it’s only 162 pages it’s not overwritten.

I loved the MMC Peter Caruso. He is what I think of as a typical CEO that has no idea what the minions did below him that make the company successful and run the way it does. He is the CEO of the family business that grew to the largest IPA brewery on the East Coast. However, Peter went to school and became the CEO without having to work his way up. I loved the hard lessons he learned when Peter was challenged by one of his truck drivers. It’s always refreshing to see someone at the top of a company eat crow. Peter indeed needed the dope slap of reality. And a beautiful snarky bartender gave him that.

This book actually has one of the best “meet cute.” When Peter meets Cara she has no idea who he is and she just gives him all the snark calling him out for being late and criticizing the CEO. I loved Cara. She was a strong, smart, independent female bartender working to put herself through law school. She didn’t hold back her thoughts when it came to the CEO and that made Peter want to change as a person and as a CEO.

I loved the character development with both Peter and Cara because it is her opinion of him and the way he runs the company that makes Peter want to change. It’s Peter pushing Cara to take the internship at the brewery that helps Cara grow as well. The more time they spent together the harder they fell for each other. This book was just so good. It gave me the feels I was hoping for.

If you are looking for a laugh out loud spicy rom com that you can finish in an afternoon, this needs to be on your tbr!

Peter, CEO of All Out beer company is having a problem with his delivery drivers. When they go on strike, he decides to drive a truck to understand what they are going through. On his route, he meets a walking hurricane of a bartender.  Clara tends to attract chaos wherever she goes. Clara thinks Peter is a blue collar worker and he doesn't correct her....and well, hilarity ensues from there. What will Clara think when she finds out who he really is?

I laughed and smiled through this entire story. I don't think I have ever read a smutty nursey rhyme retelling before and I really enjoyed it. Words I NEVER say - I liked the miscommunication trope!! This is how you do it.  Yes, it was a little over the top but to me, and sure, they could have cleared up who each other really was early on, but then the story wouldn't be so funny. Peter was a jerk early at the start of the story, but he definitely got a different perspective on things from Clara. Clara was funny and smart and very clumsy (I am clumsy too so I really identified with her!) I liked how sweet Peter was with Clara, and I loved that Clara still kept her goals in mind.

This book was a quick and hilarious read. Peter and Cara were great together and very entertaining.

While Peter was a billionaire, he never came off as thinking he was too good for Cara. I found it refreshing that he didn't try and throw money at her either. The things he did like buying her coworkers lunch were very sweet. And the fact he supported her while she was finishing up law school but helping her study, and making sure he didn't steal all her time, was great too. Plus, the guy was a little bit of a dummy which made him even more endearing. I mean, for a guy who runs a beer company he was pretty clueless about certain things.

Cara was a great FMC! She came across as smart and capable, even if accidents did tend to happen around her, A LOT. Even though she had a new relationship, she didn't let it take her away from her goals. She gave Peter the chance to explain things, even if he wasn't the best at it.

Normally I'm not a fan of miscommunication but man, it was hilarious when it came to this story. All it took was one "good boy" from Cara and everything spiraled from there. I couldn't stop laughing at some of the scenes that popped up in this book.

If you're looking for a quick and pretty angst free story, be sure to add this one to your TBR!

Peter Pumpkined Out is written by a duo known as Kacie West…

This was a quick paced, short novella that I read in a matter of hours. It was a romance story about Pete and Cara. Pete is the owner of a beer brewing company who is in the middle of contract negotiations with his delivery drivers. He is challenged by one of his drivers to complete a delivery shift in its entirety, the way Pete expects his drivers to do. During this hellacious shift that he works, he meets Cara, a bartender at one of the bars his company delivers to. He makes one hell of a first impression on Cara…

The plot was okay, although most of the book seems to mostly revolve around a misunderstanding between the two of them that occurred when they met. That and the lie that Pete told, Cara truly thought he was a delivery driver so she’s quite shocked when she finds out he’s actually the owner of All Out brewing company. The dialogue was okay. The support characters were okay. The spice was…okay. This whole book would have been avoided had the couple just communicated properly from the beginning. This book isn’t terrible, it just isn’t memorable, for me. I read it and now I’ll move on.

I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Peter Pumpkined Out is a secret billionaire, opposites attract, spicy rom-com.

This story follows Peter and Cara. Peter is an CEO of a beer company All Out. His delivery truck drivers, that deliver his products to different companies, have went on strike. So to relate to them more he decides to drive the truck and do deliveries for the day. That’s where he meets a walking hurricane bartender, Cara. Cara is putting herself through law school by working as a bartender. Chaos seems to follow her wherever she goes (which ends up making this book laugh out loud funny!). After meeting Peter while on his delivery she thinks he’s just a blue collar guy. So in order to impress he doesn’t tell her who he actually is. Will his plan backfire or will he find his happily ever after?

Y’all I devoured this book!! It was so good! I could not stop laughing!! The hamster wheel scene will forever live in my head rent free! 😂 This was such a sweet and funny story! I absolutely loved it!
It was such a great and quick read I highly recommend!

(Side notes:
1: I loved how all the chapter titles have different pictures that go along with the chapter! I’ve never seen that done before I loved it!
2: I loved the Matt Rife references!

This was a quick, fun read! When Peter and Cara first meet, he’s making deliveries for the beer company he works for…and he’s not doing so well 😅 That encounter though, leads Cara to believe he’s a delivery driver rather than the CEO. Peter’s so drawn to her that he goes along with it. He knows what he wants and goes after it. Like completely. He doesn’t do anything halfway. I was constantly laughing at Peter trying to act the part of a delivery driver, having to constantly remind himself he’s “broke,” not a billionaire. Cara wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and I love how she put Peter in his place (even if she didn’t realize she was doing it at first). The miscommunication between these two was nothing I could have predicted, and oh the second-hand embarrassment was real. It was like an accident you both don’t want to watch, but can’t look away from, and I never knew what Peter was going to come up with next 💀 I think the only down-side in my mind was how fast paced this book was, because I wanted more–I wanted a little more depth and more of watching them fall in love! If you want something that will be a quick read that’s both sweet and spicy, with a touch of hilarious miscommunication, I think you’d enjoy this one!

This was a hearty no from me. Half of the time reading this book was spent highlighting shit I hated. It started with the MMC bitching about his employees on strike and wanting to hire scabs and moved quickly to him lying (badly) to the FMC because he wanted to fuck her.

“So the drivers are really doing this?” I spun back to Alan. “Can we replace them all?”

"You’re a lying asshole, and I don’t even understand why you did it.”
He tossed his arms in the air. “Because I wanted to sleep with you, and that wasn’t going to happen if I wasn’t a delivery schmuck.”

“But I was working up the nerve to tell you.”
“After I slept with you?” she asked. Her eyes narrowed, and there was a sharp edge to her voice again.
“No, before.” I rushed out. Even if it wasn’t technically the truth.
“Really?” She pressed her lips together in a line like she didn’t believe me. Dammit.
I cleared my throat. It was time to strive for adorable rather than asshole, so I grinned. “Maybe after.”

The other half of this book was two complete idiots who read Fifty Shades once. He bought her a HUMAN HAMSTER WHEEL, for fuck's sake.

I absolutely love how the Jenni/AJ have crafted this world of smutty nursery rhyme retellings interconnected to their other books/characters.
In the midst of a drivers strike at All Out Brewery, CEO Peter Caruso is challenged to do what he is expecting of the drivers for 1 day only. Piece of cake right?
WRONG! Pete gets a rude awakening when he realizes how impossible his expectations are. Especially after he meets Cara, a bartender at one of his delivery drops who starts obliterating the CEO of All Out TO the CEO himself. Only, she doesn’t know who he is and Pete doesn’t exactly correct her because hearing how honest she is-not to mention absolutely beautiful, he is determined to get to know her and change her opinion of him (without her realizing it’s really HIM) Yeah THAT comes back to bite him in more ways than one.
The events that follow are truly hilarious but also sweet & even a
little bit dirty.
.
This was a really cute & fun read! I only wish we had gotten a teeny bit more character development from both of them but especially Pete because it seemed like he could really go deeper than what was shown. Nonetheless this was another great smutty nursery rhyme retelling. A LOT of other book/series characters made appearances and after this little teaser of Danny Evans I’m REALLY hoping his book isn’t too far away from us now.

This book was unbelievably adorable, I can't 😍 I was smiling like an idiot while reading this one.

If you’re up for a hilarious romantic comedy with love at first sight, and a short read, this is the one for you!

Meet Peter Caruso, a billionaire brewery owner who temporarily becomes a delivery guy. 😂 But on this fateful day, destiny hands him a special package to deliver, and one smile from Cara turns his world upside down, leading to the silliest lie ever.

And that’s where their story kicks off because, as they say, one lie often leads to another, right?

The best part? Pete, the CEO with an attitude, is ready to change for the lovely Cara. Yes, he’s a bit of a jerk, but a hilariously charming one! Their relationship, the fun they have, and watching Pete transform from a bossy CEO into someone special, all make this book a must-read. 😄

Thanks for the ARC 🫶🏻

My Review 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃

I laughed so hard at this one. With each naughty nursery rhyme they just get better.

Cara & Pete are such a great match for one another. She is one big walking tornado and Pete just can’t seem to put good sentences together when he’s around her.

I loved that Pete was so smitten by her from the moment he saw her in the beer cooler.

Pete may have started out being someone he wasn’t but once he knew it was time to come clean Cara had made sure he knew what she thought of his “boss” which made him feel like a complete heel for the way others thought of him.

Taking her advice on things his employees had been saying he ends of turning things around and finally revealing who he was to her. Granted she wasn’t happy about the lie she knew it wasn’t meant to be malicious.

I loved that Cara was happy in her on skin an didn’t care of she was a walking caution cone at times. An having a best doesn’t like Glory helped.

Can’t wait for the next naughty nursery rhyme for these amazing authors.

I loved this book.
If you want a quick, fun and steamy read then this is for you.
Peter and Cara are so good together and their situation is so funny. They have great chemistry and fantastic friends. He falls for her hard and I think she fell quite quickly after.
Peter tried to live a day as his delivery guys to see what they're moaning about. Little did he know it would be the best day of his life. He meets Cara. But Cara has a bad view of him, not knowing he is the owner she is talking about. I loved how he tried to win her over by being an average wage guy. It was so funny because he didn't know what to do haha.
Cara is a magnet for chaos. He calls her his Calamity Cara.
She is fun, bubbly and kind character. The best bit of the story is their misunderstanding. I won't tell you because you need to read it and trust me you will be crying from laughter. 😂
Oh the spice we did get was hot 🔥.
I love how these authors come up with these unique story plots. I really felt the warmth through the pages. Can't wait for more from them.

This fast paced novella was truly a gem! Pete and Cara were great together, even after their initial meeting. Things to look for in this book:

Enemies to lovers (not for very long!) ✔️
Grumpy/sunshine ✔️
Hilarious banter ✔️
Secret billionaire ✔️
Miscommunicated secrets ✔️
No third act breakup ✔️

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice level: 🌶️
Angst level: 💔

After Pete, the CEO of his company, tried to make it to a point to his employees that he knows best, and failed miserably. But he did meet Cara in a not so meet cute under the bar while trying to hook up a keg. So it was all worth it in the end.

These two were truly hilarious together - usually when there is such a difference in wealth, things sometimes don’t click right away. But these two really clicked almost immediately, even after some non truths were told. I loved both of these characters equally and I would have enjoyed a full novel out of them!

If you are looking for a quick novella, I definitely recommend!

Cara and Pete meet under duress; covered in beer and coming to total misunderstandings of who the other person is.

Cara is working at a bar to get through law school and somehow presents herself as a domme to Pete, who owns the brewery he is at the bar delivering for. When she bad mouths the owner not knowing it’s him, he lets her think he’s just a delivery guy instead of correcting her.

He knows he wants to start something with her right away and over compensates on the domme aspect trying to impress her which only confuses her more. She’s pushes herself out of her comfort zone to try being what she thinks he wants and when they finally come clean to each other, they find they are better suited together than they originally thought!

These two were such a fun couple to follow!

One you won’t easily forget 😉

What happens when you lie about who you are to get to spend time with a pretty girl you met…well that’s exactly what billionaire CEO Peter Caruso finds out in Kacie West’s new smutty bedtime story Peter Pumpkined Out.

If you want want laugh out loud, nostalgia from your childhood, with a dash of spice you aren’t going to want to miss out on this one.

The way Pete and Cara both internally react to each other is going to have you giggling all the way through this book. And if you’ve already grown to love the others from these retellings you are going to love this one as well.

Ok this was a super fun quick read.

Peter was funny, quirky, and weird. He tried to be relatable but his bossy billionaire side would always show up. Peter wasn’t afraid to be be slightly different so he could make Cara happy.

“She nodded and smiled down at me, and my heart skipped. Damn, she had a beautiful smile.”

Cara was a straightforward and strong woman. She wasn’t afraid to say when someone was being an asshole. Except when it came to Peter. She was always trying to accommodate him and his “weird” behaviors.

“You did it. Good boy.”

Some of the miscommunications were pretty funny. They showed a side of each other trying to please the other one. But once you know, you know.

“You are the only person I know who thinks I’m weird.”

I did receive an ARC for my honest review.

cute secret identity romcom

I found this story cute and deserving of 4 stars. At times, it veered towards silly with the constant miscommunications between Pete and Cara and Cara’s accident prone ways. But, I enjoyed these light hearted moments in this very good rom com. There is low angst, no triggers, mild language, a definite cinnamon roll H, and a smart and “real” h. The bedroom door is definitely open but there’s plenty of fun between the sexy scenes. I read a few paragraphs in a newsletter and it roped me in. Secret identity CEO is not the usual trope. Owner of a beer company going undercover one day as a beer delivery driver when he has some mishaps with a pretty bartender. A simple plot but enjoyable.
