I'm pretty sure Rowan has brain damage. I lost track of the times she fell and hit her head or got hit in the head by someone and passed out. Brain damage would also explain why she kept acting so stupid, especially in regards to Sam. I didn't like him much in the first book, even less in this one. He lies, gaslights, and uses sex to get his way. When things turn into some kind of cat fight between two women instead of the blame being placed on Same where it belongs, I really started to lose interest.

The visions take up a lot more story here, too much story. Now Rowan sees things that happened in the past as well, even things where she wasn't even present! They went on and on and I found myself skimming them.

It ended in a cliffhanger and I wish I'd known there were more than two books in this series before I started.

This has been such an enjoyable series for me. It’s an adult dystopian series where it feels like these storms that are happening could actually happen in real life. The plot has been good and there is quite a bit of spice in this second book. Easy to read. There isn’t much for world building, but I don’t mind that. The stakes are high and stressful. Immediately jumping into the final book!

The Final Storm, book two of The Storm Series by Liz Hambleton-
Rating: 5 ⭐️

Damn!! Five stars. ALL. DAY. LONG.

Ugh! The amount of anxiety I had during this book!!! The momentum just keeps building and building and just when you think you’ll get a reprieve…NOPE, another twist and more damn anxiety!!
It’s impossible to say much without spoiling anything but…

This book starts right where we’ve left off from book one, with Rowan and her family safe (for now,) on the island. Their little paradise couldn’t last forever though, could it?!

Again, a plot heavy, fast paced story with so many revelations and turns. I am absolutely invested in the characters. Rowan, Sam, Lori, Luke and all the kids, I have been rooting for them since the last book. The last book had them escaping the Thalassa but the Galene is looming this go ‘round. Rowan and Sam have become so much closer and discuss and rely on her visions, making decisions on how to move forward, together. This time Rowan’s visions show them back on the Galene, but why??

These characters are so well developed along with their relationships. You absolutely cannot help but want these characters to overcome and survive all the challenges that keep getting thrown at them. I always say that Liz’s writing sucks me in and this book, this series is no different. It’s sucking me in, chewing me up, spitting me out and I’m here for it! I keep coming back for more.

Left on another cliffhanger, I’m jumping right into the final book in the series!

I am excited to talk about this book because I haven’t read many dystopian romance books. And I happened about the first book earlier this year. I was instantly hooked and needed to find out what happened with Rowan (FMC) and Sam (MMC). The setting takes place after the first book, storms are still occurring which wipe out most of the world. Rowan and Sam must navigate their relationship while their dark past haunts them. 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸. I have to admit I was pretty damn anxious through this book (in the best way)! And the ending didn’t help!!!𝘖𝘮𝘨𝘨𝘨𝘨𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳!!!! My heart saaaaaank when I read that last line. I MUST READ THE NEXT BOOK!!!

And I'm done with this series and author DNF @ 85%
I was so caught up in the dystopian storyline, I forgave all the glaring issues with the romance aspect of the first book and actually rated it 4 starts. This one was so disjointed and I came to HATE the main characters so much I can't finish. I don't care if they escape or if they just die in the next big storm. Which will magically be the last one - how could they possibly know that?!!?

I didn't like Sam and Row's love story in the first book, too much sex and no actual relationship building (I despise insta-love tropes) but I thought since they were already together that it would continue to build over the next two books. Boy was I wrong! We are told they had a happy 6 months together on the island but we don't get to experience that as readers. We just pickup with Sam being overbearing and insensitive. The long time apart with no reason, the lying, and the gaslighting followed up by him demanding sex every time they saw each other is insane. One of the last straws for me was when she was attacked and the baby KIDNAPPED and when Row wakes up Sam's not only NOT BY HER SIDE but has taken the baby away as well to deal with the wife (who they like to call the ex-wife but HELLO, they are absolutely still married). Who, let's be honest, has every right to be angry. It's not like he left her years ago - he left her at the AOE right before the 3rd storm, got injured, made it to the ship maybe a week later, then poof day 2 he's "married" and in love with Row. If in less than a year my missing husband showed up with another woman and a premature baby I would lose my mind.

Sam is not sympathetic in any of this book and Row was pathetic and weak. She was in book 1 too, but was at least fighting to keep the kids alive. In this book they are shoved to the side and only used for their visions to push the plot along. At one point after WEEKS (could be months, very unclear) of them being separated they finally reconnect and she basically tells them to stop telling her about the time on the island.

Everything is conveniently timed and nothing is explained in any depth. How were Luke and Morgan on deaths door one day and magically better then next, after being in the hospital for possibly months?!? People, especially Row, are seriously injured to the point of being in a coma for days but then are just better in an hour?!? The minute Sam and Row are alone after her attack she's trying to tell him of the threats she saw in her dream he's already undoing his pants and demanding sex. It unhealthy to the extreme and seems to be her pattern with men who use her, hurt her physically and emotionally, and she somehow gets off on it. How she could be considered a strong female lead is disgusting.

If you loved Bella Swan but just needed some angry, borderline abusive, sex thrown in to make it a better "love" story - this is the book for you. Everyone else, stay far far away.

The things you want to know to help you decide whether this series is for you! This is a SPOILER-FREE review, but I’ve hidden two tropes that I consider spoilers for this trilogy.

Overall Opinion:
If you’re looking for a dystopian series that doesn’t hold back, is actually written for adults, and keeps you hooked with unpredictable twists—this one delivers. Unlike most dystopian books that lean YA, this series doesn’t shy away from mature themes, realistic dialogue, and well-developed characters. The world-building was immersive, the plot kept me guessing, and best of all? No fade-to-black scenes here. The intensity of both the action and romance made this impossible to put down—I devoured all three books in basically one sitting (minus some mandatory human functions like sleeping). It’s my first time reading Liz Hambleton, but definitely not my last!

Series Info: Complete Trilogy

Tropes:
🔥 Post-apocalyptic survival
🔥 Contemporary with splashes of paranormal
🔥 Found family
🔥 Growth in strength of FMC
🔥 Gritty realism
🔥 High-stakes romance

🔥 This is a spoiler, click at your own risk:

Spice: Not fade-to-black. Scenes are detailed and fit naturally into the story.

Tigger Warnings: I don’t have any triggers, but if you do, I always recommend checking the content or trigger warnings at the beginning of the book to see if it’s the right fit for you.

What to Expect:
⚡ A world that feels real
⚡ Survival stakes that aren’t conveniently easy
⚡ A romance that’s both raw and earned

⚡ Good banter
⚡ Great side characters

There are so many questions from the first book that I'm still waiting to get an answer. Again, we are getting new info with a lot of crap happening.

🌀 Turns out that everything is getting connected back to a cult called Assembly of the Eternal which most of the members have military background and had their own Kool-Aid.
🌀 The way Rowan keeps hitting her head and getting in so much trouble, "because she wants to protect her family" is getting old really quick.
🌀 Why do I still have the feeling everyone is lying by omission? There's so much that doesn't add up with Sam, Dean, Lori, and Luke.
🌀 They keep talking about the massive storm that is coming but it's going as slow as a slug. What a way to make this a trilogy.
🌀 I'm still laughing when we got a massive plot twist, because I don't need a "premonitions gift" to figure that one out.
🌀 I wish we get some explanation on how everything in Rowan's family is connected, because so far... it doesn't make sense at all.
🌀 The most ridiculous thing from the book was that ending, which had me laughing like a maniac. I've lived through a considerable number of hurricanes and the way everything happened.... yeap, it would make more sense if it were a tornado 😂.

Also, is anyone else impressed that Rowan is not brain dead at this point? I stopped counting every time she kept hitting or getting hit in the head 😂.

If you love a good dystopian romance novel, then this is the book for you! I absolutely LOVED this book and read it in like 2 days. I absolutely love Liz’s writing and how it just draws you into the story and you don’t want to stop reading until you know what is going to happen. I love how this book kept my attention and kept me stressed throughout and I CANNOT wait till the next book comes out! I loved the chemistry and spice between the two MC and how the reader is just rooting for them the entire time! Overall, definitely recommend this series!

The Final Storm was a surprising read for me — I typically don’t gravitate toward post-apocalyptic fiction, but this one pulled me in quickly. Liz Hambleton builds an intense, unpredictable world, and each chapter ends on a cliffhanger that made it hard to put the book down. The pacing and suspense were strong, and I found myself fully invested in what would happen next.

That said, one element didn’t quite work for me: the explicit sex scenes. While I’m no stranger to “spicy” books and I’m comfortable with that kind of content, the scenes here felt a bit out of place in the context of the story. Instead of adding depth, they interrupted the tone and pace of the narrative — and at times felt awkward or unnecessary, especially in a genre that thrives more on tension and survival than romantic or sexual interludes.

Overall, this was a gripping and fast-paced read that I’d recommend to fans of post-apocalyptic stories — just be aware of the mature content, which might not blend seamlessly for every reader.

Adult Dystopian Romance with Spice

The Final Storm is book 2 in a series and cannot be read as a standalone.

Book 2 starts off right where book 1 ended, thank goodness.

We continue to follow Rowen and Sam as they try to survive life in the storms. Just barely escaping their previous living circumstances, they find themselves in a new situation on an island.

Rowan and BeLew all have these premonitions and because of this, they are able to help prepare for when the storms come. Due to this, Rowen is worth a lot to someone who is trying to control the feature. Good thing they go away and can start to settle down with their new life.. But don't get too comfortable, because in the blink of an eye everything can change.

Liz has a way of fully emerging you into a world were you are on the edge of your seat. With that being said, I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3, because oof that cliffhanger.

I really enjoyed this different setting that most of this book took place on- well I guess both settings were different from the Thalassa but I loved when they were on the island and hearing about the life there, and new characters that were special like Milo and Gemma. I was SO confused by the woman Rowan was seeing in her visions and definitely guess someone else before it was revealed. I think that relationship was a little bit messy and was very magician in the sort of “distract you with this mess to hide the real danger” and it ends up being much of the same danger. I did like getting more background of before the storms, the AOE and both Rowan and Sam’s families. Overall, I started to get a little bored of the plot but Liz’s writing keeps me wanting to read more and more and I struggled to put this down to go to work!

Since finishing the first book, The Third Storm, I have been dying to see what was in store for Rowans story. This book did NOT disappoint! I couldn't put it down until I finished, at 2 in the morning 🤣

Sam and Rowen have settled in on the island with their new normal. But Rowans visions become clear, they will have to take a major risk to help their daughter and Luke.

You won't expect all the twists and turns, all the surprises, and the spice 🔥 in this sequel. The way Liz wrote this dystopian story really let's you have a clear visual of everything, she doesn't over embellish the details, she found a perfect medium.
It ends on a major cliffhanger, and I can't wait to dive into the next book!

Man, these stories suck you in and don’t spit you out until you’ve finished the book. Still very good but didn’t love some pieces as much — partially when Sam and Rowan are *together* for the last half (or maybe more) of the book.

The way it’s described reminds me of something Dean would do back when Rowan was with him. I totally get that the end of the world makes things more rushed and desperate, but part of the first book that I preferred was that he was more gentle with her.

Beau and Lewis have my heart, and they remind me of my own sons - although they listen better than my boys. Lol. That “world is ending” parenting creates children who follow instruction well and quickly because they realize what could happen if they don’t, I’m assuming.

I needed more story in this book

I liked the first book in the series. This one did give you more background in the past and filled in the missing pieces about Dean and Rowan's relationship. I skipped past all the numerous sex scenes as they seemed more like filler at times. They were escaping and running for their lives, but there was always time to stop and have sex. I prefer an anction adventure story any day of the week, but that is my personal opinion. The plot was interesting, and I would have liked more story and intrigue, but this style of writing will appeal to many. There is little background information on Sam or Nico. We find out a little about him in this book, but not much on his life before Rowan. I am curious to know how it ends.

When I say this book took me on a ride, I mean it! This book had my heart dropping to my stomach a couple times!!!! Rowan, Sam and the whole crew are all fabulous characters. The chemistry between Rowan and Sam is just as good as it was in the first book, and the antics that the kids get into in this book are absolutely hilarious. I have been waiting for this book since the minute I finished the third storm, and Liz did not disappoint! I highly recommend this book. The mystery, the intrigue, the unknowns keep you on your toes the entire time!!!

Just when I thought they wouldn’t have to deal with a certain person again 😐

Rowan and Sam were tested a lot here, but I still believe in the connection they have. I was shocked by some of the events they had to deal with!

There is so much that comes out in this book from the past, present & future. And the ending?! I will not know any peace until the next book is out (not being dramatic at all😂)

I love this series and the way that Liz writes. Rowan and Sam have this deep connection just from everything they have been through and you can’t help but want to keep reading what happens between them. When they find out that Cecelia is ALIVE!!! I could not wait to see what would happen with her. The fact that she helped them when they left the boat was definitely surprising to me. And now we are left with Rowan being taken by a random “stranger” and have to wait till the beginning of next year to see if she’s ok!

I could not wait to get my hands on this continuation of Rowan and Sam’s story. We were left on a tiny cliff - unsure of what was going to happen and let me tell you - it’s crazy!

So much action, stress, crazy weather, spicy moments, their past coming back to try and take their future!

Sam is still one of my favorites - he’s protective and possessive of his found family.
Rowan is such a strong character, and she continues to grow in her new role as a mother.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I liked this series well enough to read all three books. The first book is the best in my opinion. In this second book, the heroine shows herself as a willing victim to the villain. During their years together, she has developed a kind of Stockholm syndrome and craves mental and sexual abuse. It's not hot, it's criminal and tragic.

The heroine and her family continue to hold the reader's interest and sympathy. There was never a moment I wasn't pulling for her to survive. I don't normally read books that include supernatural elements but this one didn't offend me.

This is a unique story with great characters that I really enjoyed! I believe this is the first dystopian romance i have read in years. It has twists that do not give you a predictable outcome although the FMC has the gift of premonition. It's a series about evil through people trying to take over when humanity is barely surviving natural disasters to the extreme.

Well written romance without smut. I would have given the series 5 stars if it wasn't for the copycat sex scenes over each book. They became a stupid and poorly timed interruption in a few spots that detracted from the story and suspence of the situation. It became easy to skim over them once you knew they were all the same.

Very interesting

Rowan and Sam are in it together. With Lori and Luke, they have hell to get through before it's over. They flee the large ship because Dean will stop at nothing to get Rowan with him. He could really xare less about her, but she's a means to an end. The third storm is upon them and with the kids and this group, who knows who will live.

This is an interesting story and believable. We have ravaged the earth for so long, no wonder it's now fighting back. Time to accept the inevitable.

I’ve been waiting to read about the next step in Rowan and Sam’s adventures. This surely did not disappoint. Couldn’t stop reading and finished this book in almost no time. The story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The spicy factor was on point. The way Liz writes these dystopian stories I can clearly visualize every scene. Cliffhanger at the end will have me counting the days til the next one.

Apocalyptic storms, take no ish heroine, found family, dark strangers, steam and spice, faces from the past… The Final Storm has it all! The second book in this dystopian series hits hard from the get-go. Surprises bring turmoil that threaten to tear Rowan and Sam apart just as their family is getting comfortable in their new normal. The Final Storm is a twisty sequel and you won’t believe what Rowan and Sam are up against.

As always, Liz’s world building is next level. I’ve really fallen in love with these characters and the dystopian world Liz has built. Even when I was side eyeing some of the characters (lookin at you Sam😒), I was rooting for them the whole way. There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. This book also had more spice than the first and I am here for it. The cliffhanger at the end was so rude and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next one.

This series is so amazing!! Each book I think “Liz can’t top this” and every time she freaking does!!! I could not put this book down, and even though I don’t usually reread books, I feel I need to because I’m sure I missed things. Sam and Rowen are still so amazing, but my favorites are still the boys. The cliffhanger ending is a killer (pun intended, lol) and I cannot wait for the next book!!!

Interesting Storyline

This is really a five star novel. It grips you and you find yourself unable to put it down. However, I gave it three stars. The reason, way too many curse words and very detailed sex scenes. The story doesn’t need that. It can stand on it’s own. I find 7 year olds using profanity and the f bomb disturbing. Sometimes there are so many f bombs, they could fill half the page. To the author, please refrain in future books.

Everything about this book is amazing. The amount of times I caught myself frozen in a spot in my house because of the action, found family, spice, flashbacks, cult, crazy psycho ex, the 👄 mouth on Sam (Nico Rivera) 🤤 the dirty talk 👀 “I beg your finest pardon sir?!?” Just WOW

So good. It’s almost midnight and I should go to sleep but book 3 came out on audible yesterday and it’s calling my name. 🤘

This series has such an interesting concept, and book two kept me hooked. I loved the direction the story took and it definitely set the stage for the finale. That said, I really wanted more world building…there’s so much potential in this world and I feel like parts of it were rushed or skimmed over. Still, it was an engaging read and I’m excited to see how everything comes together in book three.

Hey Liz - Can I have the final book yet!?!? lol

So many twists and turns in this book that will keep you on your toes. I have always wanted a dystopian story with spice and this second book did not disappoint!

I really love Sam and Ro as characters. They are both strong characters and so so likable. I can't believe that cliffhanger and can’t wait to see what happens next!
