He's old enough to be my father. He might be the one who killed my boyfriend. And I can't resist him any longer.
Not only is my boyfriend dead, but he left me with a sizable loan in my name to a mafia boss.
When Dimitri Federov, a handsome, loaded Russian playboy, appears on my doorstep, I panic.
He wants money to repay the debt. Money I don't have.
The prick offers me a solution—pay with my body. I turn him down flat, but the indecent proposal remains in my thoughts, forever reminding me of what could have been…
When Dimitri turns on his charms, it gets even harder to resist him and much easier to forget he's a ruthless kingpin… a killer.
Once I let him have what he so desperately wants, give into our desires and follow this basic instinct to its heady climax… There will be no stopping Dimitri's dark desires.
One night leaves me with the biggest secret of my life… and I have to make sure Dimitri never finds out he got me pregnant.
Season of Malice is a standalone spicy bratva romance. Listen now if you can't get enough Russian bratva billionaires with an age-gap love interest!
This is an age gap mafia romance between Cami and Dimitri.
Cami and Dimitri's story doesn't begin with something as simple as a meet-cute. He actually shows up to demand payment for a loan that Cami's recently deceased boyfriend made using her restaurant as collateral by forging her signature.
The timing is suspect, leading Cami to think maybe Dimitri and his mafia family had a hand in her boyfriend's freak accident death (he died in a house fire). Seeing Dimitri's instant attraction to her (and vise versa), Cami comes up with a plan to get close to Dimitri, get him to reveal what really happened to the boyfriend and then turn him over to the police. The end game is to not pay the loan and keep her restaurant.
Except that the connection between them is all the real and Dimitri shows Cami his softer side, making it impossible for Cami to resist falling for him. What started off as a fling for Dimitri and a con for Cami ends up blossoming into real feelings and more complications.
Overall a good read and kept me entertained. What kept this from a higher rating was Cami's warped logic. Not sure if she was really that naïve or honestly didn't think things through.
The first half of the story was great but towards the end there was so many instances of miscommunication and jumping to conclusions from both MCs that it gave me whiplash! It was hard to remain neutral when both MCs showed their worst colors.
Not sure I would read again but I'm definitely curious about the rest of the Federov brothers, but especially Maksim. What is the deal with Symphony? And how did the oldest, more serious brother get so thoroughly reeled in by such a superficial person?!?
* * * ARC provided for an honest review * * * I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m confused with this book. Spoiler . . . . . . . . .
She has a restaurant her boyfriend has signed away in a deal with a Russian mobster for a lone. Boyfriend turns up dead and she thinks the Russian killed him, so she sleeps with the very handsome, very good at sex Russian but forgets to grill him about wether he killed her boyfriend ( of course, who would remember in those circumstances.) Please note in no way am I a prude, I love sexy steamy stories, but it felt like sex for the sake of it, or maybe instead of relationship building. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a readable book if you like bedroom scenes that last 15 pages( he takes her for a marathon session, makes breakfast she walks in, stuff breakfast, back to bed for another round) I’m knackered, so I don’t know about her.
It doesn’t really get to much better, silly thing is I feel it could have been very good, lack of communication with the Mc and Fc, silly disagreements, it just felt lax and awkward. Ok read, but it really needed to get more variety and possibly more of a story in the first half to keep me interested 🥱
I’m so tired of the miscommunication/lack of communication trope, it’s infuriating that an entire stories plot can be built on people only assuming things or keeping it to themselves.
The main characters weren’t young but they sure acted like it. And Camille, wow is she self-absorbed.
*** SPOILERS AHEAD ***
Chapters 34 and 36 were definitely a turning point for me, unfortunately it wasn’t for the better. The way these two really knocked down the rating is funny in a horrible way.
I’m not sure if I’m just missing it, because I was skimming at the end pretty much because I wasn’t enjoying this (at all) but I didn’t see anything about them taking care of the threat. Sure Dimitri made a clean up call, but after everything, that’s all we get?
And don’t get me started on the fact that the person coming after Camille was mentioned ONE time, there wasn’t anything backing up that he was even a big deal. And there’s no way he’d be the one at the restaurant at the end either, someone with enough sway to think they can go after Dimitri’s family would NOT go do the dirty work like that. And then Dimitri not keeping him alive to find out everything? No, no, no. I’m not even going to mention the mom thing either. Plot holes galore.
And after her attack and things are FINALLY being talked about, it’s just a, “Wow, everything is perfect, how about marriage?!?!”. Um, maybe some couples therapy instead?
Camille believes her boyfriend is dead by the hands of Dimitri Federov. Dimitri shows up at her restaurant, Le Fleur demanding payment on a loan her boyfriend took out under her name. Dimitri offers her a solution, her body. Camille doesn't know what to do, Dimitri keeps coming back and when she starts to fall for him she is terrified about how she feels about him. A threat is looming though that neither is prepared for, can they make it through the storm that is heading their way.
This was really good. I got a bit tired of Camille because she was a bit wishy washy on the whole dead boyfriend Dimitri thing but at the same time she is in his face about everything else so thought this did not quite fit her character as much. Otherwise great story.
Camille always dreamed of owning a restaurant with her father and them being co-chefs running the kitchen together. Camille has her restaurant but her father passed away a few years ago and he never got to see it. When Dimitri Fedorov shows up claiming the loan she took out against her business is behind on payment Camille has no idea what he's talking about. Camille comes to find out her dead boyfriend took a $500,000 loan out with her restaurant as collateral and he forged her signature on the paperwork. Dimitri wants Camille's restaurant but he also wants her. Maybe Camille can use that to her advantage.
This was an action packed story that put restauranteur Camille in Dimitri's path when he shows up to collect on her dead boyfriend's loan... As you may imagine, this loan is not something she even knew about, let alone accepts the responsibility for ;) Dimitri planned on just getting the restaurant as payment but the connection he felt for her, instantly, wasn't something he was willing to walk away from. What follows is a thrilling reading ride full of twists, misunderstandings, suspense and, of course, steamy romance :D
Sadly this wasn‘t what I hoped for. The blurb had my hopes high for an mafia romance with the secret pregnancy trope and a lot of banter. I got a chaotic insta lust billionaire romance with more porn than plot. The smut is good, yes. But the character and plot building is not very good and the whole story felt unfinished and chaotic.
I almost didn’t read because the blurb made it sound like secret baby or unexpected baby right after they meet but there was a lot that happened in their relationship before the pregnancy.
There was too much uncomfortable sex/questionable consent. He literally says: “Masturbate for me, Camille,” (in an empty restaurant. There’s better ways to say this!)
It’s way too uncomfortable and not enough chemistry.
The fmc and mmc have way too much miscommunication. One of them tries to tell the other about feelings and they jump to conclusions. One step forward, twenty steps back. In the beginning she was faking but then caught some feelings and he was getting the feelings from the beginning. That’s fine except the trauma from this went on too long throughout the plot.
There was some potential in this plot but how did the mmc always just seem to know how to show up when she’s in danger. We could’ve done without some of the drama or it needed set up better?
I didn’t feel like this book was bad enough to DNF but had I known ahead of time I wouldn’t have started this. The plot was okayish (did good on the miscommunication trope) but the writing just wasn’t quite good enough to make it work. I needed more relationship building and better tension between the characters.
The Bratva series one you start you won’t put it down till the last page has been turned but it is a slightly different twist to a bratva read although all the pretax of the lifestyle is there so hang on and double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love (ALL THINGS TO EXPECT FROM THE MAFIA WORLD). By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! CAN’T SAY YOU WEREN’T WARNED!!!!! Camille is a go getter setting a goal for herself achieving that goal of owning her own French restaurant, she remembered staying up late at night talking with her late father about opening a restaurant she finally did it although sad her boyfriend didn’t live long enough to enjoy her dream and after putting him to rest a sexy older man comes into her restaurant demanding payment on a loan she is very confused because she never borrowed money from anyone. Dimitri sexy as all get out bratva isn’t in the business of closing out loans without collecting what is owed to him that includes the little beauty who owns the restaurant either she pays him what is owed, or she signs over her restaurant, and she doesn’t need to know he killed her boyfriend or that he will accept her as part of the deal. The attraction is instant it is intense and magnetic pull can’t be ignored but she agrees to date him to prove that he killed her boyfriend or that is how it all started but neither of the expected the chemistry to so intense but where are they headed, does she figure out if he killed her boyfriend, does it matter in the end considering he forged her signature on a loaned she never owed, will she still owe the loan, and can the two of the find something more than something owed like happiness?.

I wanted to like this book and at parts I did. I liked that Camille seemed independent and passionate about her business. I also liked that while there was a lot of communication, Dimitri was never really violent like some mafia books. He really was mostly just a business man.
However the amount of miscommunication in this book I just… didn’t make any sense to me. They don’t have a complete conversation until the last 10 pages.
She assumes she killed ex in the first 10 pages. She assumes he doesn’t love her. She assumes he knows about the baby and doesn’t want it or her. She assumes he just wants her money. And while I understand being afraid of those things most of the time there isn’t much to back this up, especially if she has built that kind of connection she’s supposed to have formed with him.
I did like the action packed in. But like… who was trying to kill her? Who was attacking her? It was clear the guy was a hit man who was hired by someone targeting the brothers but… we don’t really solve that problem of who hired him? I guess the only person who could have done it the rival Bravta but literally that’s just mentioned and brushed over.
There is a lot of spice. I think that was the main focus and the plot was just… well yeah.

Man, this book had a really strong start. I really enjoyed the fmc and mmc but it seemed the author just gave up. Camille was making HUGE assumptions to the point where it makes her seem delusional. Demetri would take too long to reply because he was contemplating sharing his knowledge/feelings (as most male character do) and Camille would have an outburst out of anger and nothing would get solved or talked about. Just makes the base for an extremely dysfunctional relationship.
Then in less than a year they are having a baby and getting married. The 9 month time gap provides no development on their relationship or them improving their communication skills. The storyline of getting a personal threat is just skipped over. Yes the attacker is killed, but there’s no mention of whether it’s a henchmen or the other big player going against them. Was the mother’s poisoning also the other big players doing? I know there’s more books after this, hopefully they actually include the answer to this.
Also I want the extended epilogue to be about the characters I’m currently reading about… otherwise it’s just a preview to the next book. (Nitpicking, I know)
The sex scenes were hot, but that’s about all that this book has going for it.

Ads for this book have recently popped up on my Facebook feed, and I decided to give it a go finally. Actually, I think the ads were for one of the later books in the series, as the description didn't match anything in this first book. That's normal for me to run into, sinceI do like to read entire series, rather than individual books, so if I do get an ad for a later one, I will put the first one on my reading list.
Grammatically, there was one typo that was very noticeable to me. The word break was used instead of the correct brake, right before the car accident. Other than that, nothing too terribly noticeable jumped out at me.
I did enjoy this book. There was very little bratva in this one, even though the series is called the Bratva Series. I have a feeling it may end up more in later books, but it was barely in this one, other than explaining about why she owed the debt.
The build of of emotions between them was great, but the sudden swerve into the other side of that where they are angry and not communicating came across as odd, when they just didn't talk but were yelling and angry repeatedly. They would be in contact, but never actually communicate.
This book is one I might read again, and it is one that I would recommend to others.
So many up and downs in this story,so hot ,dark and intense. Cami owns a restaurant and it has always been her dream to own her own restaurant with her father but he is gone now but she still has her dream but Dimitri shows up to collect a debt that her late boyfriend owed,he died in a mysterious fire and she thinks Dimitri is behind the death buth she finds the late Roy forge her name using the restaurant has collateral. They work out agreement but Dimitri changes his mind and Camilla goes thru a few changes and almost loss her life each time and Dimitri and her clash and he walks away and he goes thru almost loss, because there is so many miss understandings Dimitri isn't really to give up on Cami and he goes to her to talk and she is nearly killed again,he saves her again and they talk and get rid of misunderstandings and they get a happy life and get gives her dreams!
This Bratva story is Not up to par compared to a lot of really good dark Mafia/Bratva series out now. The Bratva angle fell flat. Dimitri never carried a weapon, no security for anyone in the story, still don't know why Petrov was watching him, the 3 brothers rarely were together or interacted, the MFC is never introduced to Dimitri's family and she wound up being a very good chef and business owner to having a 16 year old whiney, jumps to bad conclusions about everything which makes her positive she's right and does more in your head self talk than a shrink on speed.
It was boring, not enough character development for the characters that will be in the series and there were no real surprises. Felt high school ish at times, Mild story overall for this type of read.
She plays him, then plays the victim! “can I live with a man who killed Roy” was said so many times, an assumption she made and dug into like a dog with a bone with no reasoning or adult thought. Her diatribe after the MMC left when his mother was in the hospital shows that she is too young making it all about her not even knowing the social cues of a sibling going into another sibling's house at 3 am already means something is wrong, and then leaving while being in danger… I mean wtf seriously. Okay just got past the hospital scene and I mean wtf she decided he already knew about the baby and threw the biggest juvenile temper tantrum! And a “Best” friend who tells her secret at first chance. This relationship doesn’t have staying power and even if it did it has a lot of reminders of an emotionally abusive relationship with the MMC as the victim!
I guess this book was truly was not for me even though I genuinely love to read a lot of smut. I did like Camille in the beginning of the book and enjoyed seeing her independent. Even towards the end when she stood up for herself and her baby, it was good but I didn't like the book. I felt the story was too vague and it just kept prolonging for me.
Dimitri being the strong mafia don is fine but no where I felt like I could connect to him. I believe this book was truly not for me.
I found it dramatic and too boring.
Leaving a positive note on the book, the chemistry between the main leads is good and the author did a good work on those scenes.

Season of Malice by Lisa Cullen is the story of Dimitri and Camille. Her boy friend dies in a fire and….while she’s still dealing with that, Dimitri comes to her restaurant demanding payment on a loan her boyfriend made… As if all of this weren’t enough…she shocks just keep coming…and now, her life is in danger!!
Dimitri is dark, devastating, and deadly serious. Camille just wants her restaurant….and is furious that Dimitri is determined to collect on a debt that isn’t hers!! Tons of tension, withheld information, misunderstands, and jumping to conclusions….as well as a spine-tingling romance!!.
Ok so I'm being nice giving this 3 stars but that's only cause the sex scenes were hot but that's where it ends. For starters this says mafia Don where did any body get that? The brothers owned a bank that had the loan yeah I mean they kinda part of the mafia I guess but all the other mafia books i read this was nothing mafia related. The most of the book was her and him going on dates and sex very little action and vague like strange sedan watching her and then tboned accident then fire in her kitchen then the almost killing her after the fire but Dimitri kills him without questioning who the stranger worked for. This book was just blah it could have been so much better.
A good start to this series and a good Bratva read this is Dimitri Fedorov and Camille Andersons story. Dimitri is the second oldest brother and in charge of taking care of ensuring loans taken from the family are paid this is how he meets Camille a feisty beautiful young chef. Her boyfriend recently deceased apparently took out a loan using her restaurant as collateral by forging her signature. Their chemistry is immediate and the story developed from there. It is a good storyline with lots of interest and hot romantic action good characters what's not to enjoy.
That was…stupid. It shouldn’t come as a shock when I found out that this book was literally porn. But that part didn’t upset me all that much. The stupidity of characters, especially Camille, was unbearable. Literally. What the hell was wrong with you, Camille? Dude. BRUH. I couldn’t stand her. Demitri, I felt nothing towards him. The drama was stupid and too much, everything was stupid. I was bored out of my mind and skimmed through 50% of the book just to find out what happened.
I wish I could say I had better things to do than read this book but my life is boring and I have nothing else to do. But if you have, then go do that.
I really liked the beginning of this but that’s as far as it goes for me, I’m afraid. I don’t love the miscommunication trope, but I usually don’t mind some… and the trope was trope-ing a little too hard for me to enjoy the latter half of the book. It was like three or four topics that compounded on one another that got resolved in a page or two, and then suddenly a HEA. Plus, we didn’t really get to see the “bad guy” to fruition. Just that he was unalived. I feel like it missed the mark some or that the story could’ve been a little more developed. Overall, I liked it enough to give Alexei’s story a shot, so maybe I’ll learn more about the bad guy there.

Camille and Dimitri come from worlds yet meet and fall in love. Of course, they meet because Camille’s boyfriend used her restaurant as collateral for his overwhelming debt to Dimitri-who is part of the Russian mafia, aka Bratva. Naturally her boyfriend was murdered and never told her about the debt. And Camille is a very proud and independent younger woman. So she refuses to sell her restaurant to Dimitri. The story has a lot of sexual tension between these two, a stalker and family tension when Dimitri falls for Camille. A must read book. You will not be disappointed.
I think this is my 1st Mizz Lisa read & I absolutely love the 3 brothers of thus series & can't wait to read read of their stories. Dimitri & Camille are so entrapped in misunderstanding & miscommunication, but Mizz Lisa does it in a fast paced, action based & naughty ways. The 3 brothers are close & love to bust each other, but they truly tight knit plus love their mother, so that makes them extra addy to me. Lots of fast moving parts to this tale to bring in the intriguing elements to makes this book get my too score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes.
Camille's ex-boyfriend obtained a loan from the Bratva, using Le Fleur, a restaurant owned by her, as collateral after somehow forging Camille's signature. When Dimitri comes to collect his money she can't pay him and he offers her a deal, one she initially turned down, but what if.......
But now Camille and Dimitri seem to be falling in love, and someone is trying to kill her, who and why? This book is well-paced, has well-drawn characters and so many twists and turns that I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering where the author would take us next.
I usually avoid age-gaps that are this big (yeah it's Daddy territory), but the sheer amount of se#ual tension and physical attraction was so thick you could cut the book like a po$n cake! Loved it. Especially Dimitri's playboy status and that he's . a stone-cold killer (dangerous men are always so much more yummy).
I am getting tired of these women getting pregnant - I mean seriously - contraceptives people (and condoms). Anyway - that's just me. But the emotional stuff was great!.

My dead boyfriend used my restaurant for collateral when he borrow money from the Russian crime family. What a betrayal!!! And I think Dimitri killed my boy friend. Now he knows I don’t have the money. So, he tells me I can pay back the loan with my body. NEVER. This man is handsome, dangerous, a killer and old enough to be my father. Dimitri turns on the charm. How am I going to resist him? I loved this book. You will not be able to put it down. But you will have to read it to find out hoe the story plays out. Enjoy!!!
Finding out your boyfriend is dead and forged your signature on a loan to support his habit, wasn't bad enough, but to find out you're responsible to pay the loan back. Expecting to get the restaurant for collateral payment, Dimitri was not expecting to be given a hard time in turning over the deed to him. What a shocker it was to him when he realized it wasn't going to be easy.
I read Alexa book first and I come to the sane conclusion, not enough substance. At least these two had the same interest.
My 1st book by Lisa Cullen and it was really good! I liked the Age Gap/Bratva storyline and it kept my attention almost all the way through. I got super irritated with the h at the 80% mark and was just over the whiny by then. We got a tad bit too much time spent in each character’s head that I skipped some of but then around 90%, we got back on track and the story ended with a bang! I’m assuming we find out about the bad guy in the next book? All in all a nice showing from this author. I will continue this series.
