Heartbreak Beat

Rate this book
Love at first sight grips two hearts, locks two souls and instantly connects them seamlessly.

Fast love started on the diamond field where Gabriel unexpectedly encountered the man he had only heard about. During a brief musical performance that started his game, he quickly grew more aware of the lead singer with electrifying blue eyes, a striking smile and a body fit for more than just dancing to the thump of a distant drumbeat. Instantly he sensed a link with the man behind the music unlike any he had ever felt before.

By force of nature and during his song, Alec James was stimulated by palpitations of the heart when the center man of the baseball field looked his way and smiled. He fell in love with the pitcher even before their hearts had a chance to trade places. A song and a game executed a rock solid love affair between these two men who met one another by chance.

While building their life of love together, Gabriel and AJ merged with obstacles that cartwheel in and out of their path, and their romance becomes tangled with criminal suspense. While balancing newfound love and their iconic careers, they clashed with distractions that spiraled around them, one speeding up right after the other. In the course of it all, Gabriel and AJ refused to give up on love and unprecedented male bonding.

A finale so unexpected breaks open when another spiraling event takes a shocking turn.

This was a wonderful creative story about love and mystery. When Gabriel and AJ happened to lock eyes at the baseball game Gabriel was pitching and AJ was singing at, it was love at first sight! The relationship between them was fun and very entertaining. The relationship they have with all their friends was well written and refreshingly developed. The mystery starts out slowly and gradually builds up to the very, very exciting conclusion that will have you on the edge of your seat. The ending was so exciting, it was ABSOLUTELY incredible. This was a terrific story. I really enjoyed it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!

Heartbreak Beat started off at a baseball game where I met one of the star players and main characters, Gabriel. Although I enjoyed the banter between Gabriel and his team mate's my heart sank a little as I have no idea or interest in the game what so ever! The author somehow managed to keep my attention by describing the atmosphere so well I could visualise the scene, hear the crowd screaming, stomping their feet and actually smell the hot dogs. Only making me wish I was in the stands cheering with them. From this moment I knew I was in for a good read!

Gabriel meets AJ who is the lead singer of popular boy band Inner-Beat. The Two guy's feel a immediate attraction and this is where my heart beat starts to speed up and I become girly, slushy. I don't think I have ever read a romance written this way. Either the author has one hell of an imagination or he is the most romantic person on the planet. I don't usually go for too much romance but the book could of ended with them living happy ever after at this point and I would of been happy. Wow...I was mesmerized, either reading with my mouth open or a sloppy grin on my face. Talk about emotions running high!

I had a feeling the relationship was not going to end with a easy happy ever after but OMG did things for this couple take a turn in the worst possible way. A crazed madman enters the plot and it looks like Gabriel and AJ lives are in danger. There are many great characters in this book yet I kept trying to work out if the madman was a band member, friend or team player yet at the same time Gabriel's butler was totally freaking me out. I was constantly looking for hints in the storyline as this author writes with incredible attention to detail.... I found myself thinking I was part of the plot and turned into miss detective trying to protect this amazing couple. Considering I thought I was reading a romantic love story the tension had heighten in tune with my racing heart beat as I was now reading a crime/thriller.

I don't want to spoil the storyline but the suspense just seems to build with each turn of the page and I actually wondered how much my emotions could actually take. There is a few parts where I had immediate goosebumps, shivers and a few tears but it's hardly surprising this book is full of humour, romance, love, murder, jealousy and full on suspense.

Gregory Jonathan Scott is an author that has totally surprised me. I expected his writing to be good but his writing style took my breath away and I won't be forgetting Heartbreak Beat for quiet a while!
I would love to see a second book as I really want to know more about some of the characters and would love to see what happens with Gabriel and AJ.
Highly recommended!!

All the while I was reading this, at least the first part of this story, I was just so happy. I could not believe I fell for this and yet I found myself giggling at all the corniest, sappiest, cheeziest and super morantic words these two men, Gabe and AJ, exchanged with each other. I should hate this but no, I just loved this instead. Then things went from sappy to mysterious and then violent. This was a turn of events completely unexpected and made me refuse to drop this read.

There are two parts to the story here: the first part, as I already stated, is the sappy part. This is the part when the two men's eyes meet across the diamond field and just fell into each other's lives. Just like that, SNAP!, they fell and they fell hard. They were at that stage when they were oblivious to all else except for the taste of new love and maybe this is why they missed out on a whole lot of clues left so visibly in their path. When they were both blind to everything else but the love blooming between them.

The second part is when all hell breaks loose. When suddenly they are thrust into the public world, outed by someone close and personal and they know not who it is who betrayed them. Although the betrayal ricocheted to benefit both Gabe and AJ, this only escalated the violence that were targeting their very lives. And those around them.

Gabe and AJ are a power couple, in celebrity terms. Gabe is an all-star pitcher for a winning baseball team and AJ is the lead singer of a band (maybe a boy band) which hits are currently in the top charts. Both men are young and successful. They do not have the invincibility complex, however, neither do both dally with drugs. They party a lot, they drink a lot, but its all for fun and both careers demand each take care of their bodies so they are sexy abs and all. What makes their story go from cheesy to fatal at the turn of the page is not because of their doing. They have a stalker who is rubbing shoulder to shoulder with both men and it is difficult to pin who it is exactly. When bodies start dropping, it is only then that both men and those around them start fortifying their defences. But how can they lock their doors from their enemies when the enemy is within and among them?

This was such a fun read and even if I am known to absolutely hate cheesy and uber anything, I just found
myself giggling and laughing and then holding my breath on every single page. My face muscles are crazy painful for all the smiling and I could not resist the rating I gave. I admit, it is not the most awesome book I have read, but seriously, this book just was impossible to resist! I love it the way it is and of course, I fell for AJ and Gabe. So yes, definitely a must read!

First I have to say I have found a new love and that new love is Gregory Jonathan Scott! Lord I love the way he writes from the heart. As I was reading I found myself wondering if he talks like he writes because I could listen to him all day long. To say I was totally fan girling over Gregory is an understatement. The way he describes things and the coming together of two men was incredible. It took me a week to read this book because I had to keep putting it down because I did not want the story to end. Then as I was 90% through this story and sitting on the edge of my bed when I checked facebook and saw that Gregory posted a new post saying he was writing another story and this one would be a fantasy love affair and I did my book dance.

In Heartbreak Beat we meet Gabriel McDermott who is a professional Baseball Player and Alec Benjamin James who is the lead singer of the group Inner Beat. These two guys are from different worlds and Gabe is older than AJ but when Gabe sees AJ singing he goes from having a crush on him to needing him in his life. Gabe is glad when AJ shows interest in him and when they finally meet up at Eddie's Beach house for an after party for the baseball team they soon realize they both like each other.

As Gabe and AJ get to know each other better they know they are destined to be together. They love walking the beach and spending time together in the pool. As Gabe is winding down the season AJ goes to his games and as AJ is gearing up for this tour Gabe is right there for him cheering his man on!

Then things start to get weird because AJ is being targeted by someone and that person is determined to get AJ out of the picture and away from Gabe. But Gabe is determined to protect his man at all costs and when the person comes to close to killing AJ Gabe makes AJ stay with him to protect him.

As the story unfolds you have no idea who wants AJ dead because everyone is suspect and everyone wants either Gabe or AJ so you have no idea who it is. A few times I thought I had it figured out and when I got to the end and read who it was I was like Ohmigawd lordy lordy why the hell hadn't I figured it out sooner. Well because the person it is I really thought it just could not be because he had no time to hurt AJ but I guess he did because he was the one.

Man talk about mind blowing and a romance to rival all others! Holy mother lover AJ and Gabe are the perfect couple and I need more from them. I hope we get another book about where they are and what happened afterwards.

Ok.... I've had this book sitting in my kindle for a while.

This is the second time I am reading this book. The 1st time was when this book 1st came out. Unfortunately, I had to write back to the author... That this book just want for me.
(He gave me a ARC copy)

He wrote me back a couple of months later asking if I could give his book another chance. That he reedit the book & hopefully I will have a change of heart.
So, I agreed.

Well, I can totally tell the difference between the first time I read this book to this new version. He took a lot out.

But, it still didn't work for me.
I think the book is to long. & the way he describes his characters.
Hmmm... Just didn't have me screaming I want more.
I just wasn't feeling his writing style.

Although the book went through some great improvements. It still just wasn't for me.

An emotional ride

At first I thought it was a little sappy, only girls get all mushy and lovey dovey. As I kept reading I found that I really loved Gabriel and AJ along with a few other characters. This book kept getting better and now here I am in the middle of a mystery and I was quite stumped by who the Beast was. I figured it out but was hoping I was wrong. I knew it took two till there was one. I do not want to give anything away. I just would like to share that this became quite emotional, I literally choked on my tears.... I paid 99¢ for over 400 pages of an excellent story. Other authors should follow Mr. Scott's lead. I can't wait to read the next book I purchased from Mr. Scott.

would give it 3.5 stars.
I really liked the story, romance and mystery in 1 book.
Loved the main characters. The story was good it kept u guessing for the majority of the book. At about 90% i had an idea of who did it.
The thing i didnt like was the writing style. It didnt flow to start with. It didnt make a lot of sense how things were said.
If the start of the book flowed like the end of the book it would have got 4.5 stars.
The story was good and i did enjoy reading the story and would read more by him.

Too sappy for me. Kept reading only to find out who was out to get Gabriel and AJ -- it was a struggle to continue --i guess i didn't like the author's style. I normally love gay romances with a lot of action -- i felt the ending left me hanging. The detective never did anything. The main characters survived but nothing hinted toward a better future and the whole dream thing on the nut case was just odd. I read a lot ....3-4 books a week so I'll give the author another chance before making final call.

Loved the book. I am a sucker when it comes to love at first sight. Mr. Scott has a hit with this story. Gabe & AJ are wonderful characters. Each meeting eyes across a baseball game & AJ singing at the game but directing it toward Gabe & him realizing it. I was happy to see the baseball team accept Gabe & AG but was a little disappointed at AJ's group. This story has a lot of up & downs now waiting for the next book to read.

Crap. Another "M/M" romance that reads like it was written by a woman fantasising about being a man.
