Alice moved in into an abandoned house that her stepfather wanted.
The first time she walked in, she felt something...
The house gave her the creeps.
Alice told her mother what she felt, and that made her go to a psychiatrist, overrating imagination, nothing is real, that didn't helped her making friends at school.
Until, she woke up with a mask in her head and someone talking to her.
The only friend she has, it's Ivy.
They go to the Circle of Freaks, and something happen to Ivy there, hope/waiting for the book with Ivy's story.
Meanwhile, Alice discovers that the family that lived in Hades Manor, and died in an accident, the father made a small fair to his kids.
Wilfred takes her there.
Alice sees L. H. engraved over the metal.
Alice goes to a party, and there she meets Lazarus and there's something strange about him.
And now Alice is divided between the guy that puts her with a mask, that lives in the walls of her house, and Lazarus.
But the guy of the mask is protecting her, he even kills for her.
This is a dark romance, with lots of triggers.
Hades take her virginity, but the only thing Alice knows, it's his name.
This ends with a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to see how the story goes.

This story was soooo good!!!!
Honestly, I wasn't expecting it!!! But it was so good!!! It is still haunting me...
I loved the atmosphere, the mystery, the darkness, the masked man that was always lurking in the dark, our not so 'crazy' heroine... Everything in here were so alluring and captivating!!! Yep, there were some typos, but nevermind!!!

was about to give this 3 stars but then the ending happened like wtf it looked like the book was cut short ??? i even have to redownload a new epub just to see if the number of chapters were really correct and that the ending was really just like that😭

Do not go into this book thinking it is a romance – it is erotic horror with multiple dark elements and a large helping of smut. This book is a mindfuck! It makes you question what is real and what is fantasy. It left me with a "Wait, What??" at the end.
The plot is filled with twists, turns, and torments: A masked man (who may or may not be real) who brings the FMC pleasure in the night. A stalker who will kill anyone who touches her. A FMC coming into her own.
Fast burn and spicy, there are MF and FF scenes. Several darker kinks are explored.

Definitely a dark, spicy book where I suggest checking trigger warnings before reading.
This book is about Alice, an 18 year old in a creepy old house who begins to experience supernatural intimate moments that have her questioning her own mental health. Since a child she’s heard whispers in the walls and felt a mysterious presence. Alice tries to be a normal teen though, going to the Carnevil, a paranormal circus, a high school party, and bars. She wishes nothing more than to feel normal and to potentially get a boyfriend. Then an unknown stranger shows her exactly what she’s missing.
This book is dark, extremely spicy, and covers a lot of dark topics. I would classify it as an erotic horror. This book has FM and FF scenes. Some bondage. It really has you questioning what is real and what is not. And the ending is quite the twist of an ending. I definitely recommend if this genre is for you. It had just enough mystery to not want to put it down, and had plenty of spice. Like 4 or 5 level of spice. I will definitely check out the next in the series when it comes out.

I read the second book first by mistake so a little confusing but still very enjoyable. It’s crazy, was kinda obvious hades and lazarus was the same person 3⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nuh-uh.
I don't know if this was because I was reading an ARC version or not, but this was...not unreadable entirely, but there were so many technical mistakes - grammar mistakes, weirdly structured sentences, and just...it did not read like a professionally done and published book. I was asking the question: has anyone edited this at all? Maybe, it was actually on the verge of being unreadable.
The story itself? I must admit, I did read the blurb and so it's somewhat my fault - I knew what I was getting myself into. To some extent anyway. I guess, I was wondering how it would be handled and if really, actually the MC would be a teen girl. Okay, she's a high schooler, but technically eighteen...I guess. Still (and I don't know if this counts as a spoiler), this trope or whatever of girls and women with no previous sexual experience then jumping straight into very rough sex and BDSM (not even done properly), it's not cute, and here it is further iffy, and what was the point?
And, no, the sex scenes weren't done particularly well either.
Otherwise, outside the whole sex bit, the characters were stereotypical and with no depth to them. The whole thing was juvenile and a bit silly, ridiculous - the way people acted, the things they said and sometimes did.
Was this really a romance in any sense of the word, or was it just erotica? Was it even erotica? I'm not sure exactly what this was. The only time I got a sense of any kind of romance at all was for a short bit in a scene between the MC and her friend. That didn't last either.
(Also, I reallyyyyy have to say this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you stick a finger up a bootyhole without no preparation of the washing up sort, it'll come out at least a bit poopy, no? Like, c'mon now.)

Hi. Thats me. I’m the intended audience. It was romantic. Gothic. Horrify. Throw in some suspense and a masked MMC who I did not think was gonna be who it was in the end! I loved the touch of paranormal and Hades 🥵🥵🥵 you sir can haunt my walls any day of the week! And yes that was supposed to be as sexual as it came off.

This was interesting. It was more of a romantic suspense novel than a gothic horror story, but it did have dark elements. However it’s not scary or anywhere near the darkest thing I’ve ever read. There’s also a lot of unanswered questions and I can’t begin to guess at the characters motivations, or why we needed to have all the masks. I’m not sure if the author intended to inspire this ambiguity or if they’re the result of typos and an unedited manuscript. I feel like the author was really imaginative, they were just unrefined so I’m left confused about a lot of topics and plot points. With that said, this book was very excited and I finished it in a couple of hours.
Writing Mechanics: ✍️
I can not stress this enough, the author needs an editor and a proofreader ASAP. This story has the potential to be great, but was ultimately confusing and lacking because it needs some serious revisions and proofing. The typos are everywhere and distorted some really promising quotes. The characters were okay, but so much of the story still doesn’t make sense to me. I think this is intended to be a series so those issues might clear up in later books.

I really enjoyed this novella.
At 180 pages, it was fast-paced and gripping from the start. It was a quick read and I finished it in less than a day. It was hard to put down.
There were parts that made me think even I was going a bit crazy at times. I was unsure of what was going on. Was it all in her head? Was it real? Was it supernatural related? And I think that added so much suspense to the story and was a great part of the story.
The romance aspect was definitely 100% dark, and so was the spice 🌶️. It’s definitely something that isn’t suitable for everyone and I would for sure check trigger warnings if it isn’t something you’re not used to, but I definitely enjoyed it and loved every minute of it 🥵
While I did some of the twists coming, there were others I didn’t. And, despite the fact I saw some of those twists, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of it.
The horror aspect of this book I would say is more a 4 🌟 for me BUT, it was still very creepy and still very disturbing in a “is this a haunted house or am I going crazy” kind of way. Because let’s face it, I think if we were put in a situation where we were hearing and seeing things that no one else was, we’d all feel crazy 🤪
I definitely recommend this book if you love dark, spicy romance with your horror 👏🏻

My Rating is low simply because it feels like its written very poorly, words misspelt, sentences that don't make sense. And the times just don't match, it goes from one part to another without explanation.
There's not really much plot other than who's behind the mask, which I will admit I wasn't expecting.
I had however gathered the plot around Alice's Family extremely quickly.
I think this really has the protentional to be a better read, editors just need to reread.

This book has the makings of being such a great book. The only reason I rated it the way I did was because it needs a lot of editing! I'm hoping this does get corrected at some point. Plus that ending...what the eef. Just when you think you've got it all figured out. Now I have more questions than answers.
This short story is told from Alice's mind, in her POV. She had never had an easy life. Her father died when she was young and her mother just upped and remarried a man named Nick. They move her into this haunted style mansion from the time she was 9 years of age. Pretty much to leave her alone all the time She starts to hear thumping in the walls, the piano being played and her name being called out behind the walls. She tells her mom what she's hearing, just for her mother to pretty much say "I don't believe you." Sending her to therapy to be put on medications.
Now the monster in the house is Hades. A man in a black mask. You can't help but feel her anxiety, scaredness, anticipation, and her erotic turn on when it comes to Hades. She is confused because in her mind, he can't be real. There is no way, her mind is playing tricks on her. If you've been told you're pretty much crazy your whole life. You start to believe it. This is a coming into adulthood book. It's also a very fast paced book. At times it feels like you're missing a chunk of information. Like time fast forwarded. There is a very hot scene in this book between Alice and her best friend Ivy. It didn't really seem to fit to me. Yes they were best friends, but I felt like maybe if I had more of their back story, I would have understood it better. Plus, her roll in this whole thing is still confusing. Then you have the hot boy at school, Lazarus. The sweet times, the hot and rough times, and the "nice" times. You can tell that she feels something for Lazarus because he is real. But Hades has messed with her mind so much that even so much as a normal, slow-moving relationship has her mind thinking the worst about herself. I could tell that Lazarus was turned on by her, but because he doesn't right out bang her brains out, she thinks the worst about herself.
Listen, the author had a great way with words and making you feel what Alice felt and thought. It really just needed to be cleaned up edited and maybe had a better, slower flow to it. Maybe at the end of it all, the author was messing with our minds. Maybe the fast-paced, confusing times were supposed to be that way. When you read who, what, when, and where, it was supposed to throw us off. That last chapter really threw me off. Just when you think you have it all figured out.... mind fck 🤯
I've read there may be a book 2 coming out sometime. I hope so, because I needed more explanation after the last 2 chapters. Especially the last one. Was Hades who I thought he was if he came out to be real....NO. It did make sense, though, once you did figure out the truth. It's just that last chapter.

This book has the makings of being such a great book. The only reason I rated it the way I did was because it needs a lot of editing! I'm hoping this does get corrected at some point. Plus that ending...what the eef. Just when you think you've got it all figured out. Now I have more questions than answers.
This short story is told from Alice's mind, in her POV. She had never had an easy life. Her father died when she was young and her mother just upped and remarried a man named Nick. They move her into this haunted style mansion from the time she was 9 years of age. Pretty much to leave her alone all the time She starts to hear thumping in the walls, the piano being played and her name being called out behind the walls. She tells her mom what she's hearing, just for her mother to pretty much say "I don't believe you." Sending her to therapy to be put on medications.
Now the monster in the house is Hades. A man in a black mask. You can't help but feel her anxiety, scaredness, anticipation, and her erotic turn on when it comes to Hades. She is confused because in her mind, he can't be real. There is no way, her mind is playing tricks on her. If you've been told you're pretty much crazy your whole life. You start to believe it. Let me tell you this is one amazingly written story that will keep you on your toes, scratching your head in puzzlement and wondering what the heck is the matter here.
And just when you feel like YES!! I get it now...BOOM!! Will the Mind-Blowing twists have your head spinning.
So the story is actually what the blurb says, Alice has been hearing weird sounds and felt unknown presence in the Manor, since she moved to live there along with her mother and stepfather.
Nobody believes her when she recounts these strange happenings around the manor and now she's learnt her lesson to keep such things to herself lest she be declared all the more as gone completely crazy.
First off, the set up itself gives you the chills with the Gothic Manor where only three people live and Alice being all alone, I really had goosebumps right from those first scenes.
But things begin to escalate when a dark mysterious presence makes itself known and Alice goes on to have the Hottest encounter with him when he makes Alice feel things that she never has before.
Alice is equally scared and equally hates herself for wanting to find hot pleasure in this mysterious stranger's arms but the question is - Is he even real and who is he in the first place??
So many questions and nowhere clues to be found.
To make matters worse, Alice also finds herself drawn to the Hottie at her college who's at times hot and at times cold but treats her differently to how her stranger treats her.
The author has written this one magnificently where you are taken on a ride that is eerie at times and makes you jump in fear but also OH SO SUSPENSEFUL that you just have no idea where this all will lead to.
While also the Spiciness in this one deserves a 10 🌟 for all the Sizzling hot times that will melt panties off any one whether its Alice going on with her mysterious stranger, Hades or her College Hottie, Lazarus.
But the cherry on top was her and her friend, Ivy's scene 🥵 as I so didn't see that one coming. Argh... But I needed more there, it felt like our author just teased us there and I wished there was more in that scene.
THAT ENDING THOUGH.. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO SAY BUT YES, EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED, that's all I'll say as the ending is absolutely Shocking but definitely not typical and Usual in any way.

What a way to start the new year!
If you are looking for a suspenseful, paranormal, psychological, dark, and masked-man MMC, this book is for you.
Alice, the FMC, claims to hear noises, including a man's voice, in the home she, her mother, and stepfather move into not long after Alice's father's death. The reader is quickly introduced to Alice's reality as she is jumpy and anxious, which you can feel while reading. Who wouldn't be freaked out if you heard thumping coming from your bedroom wall and then a man's voice whispered to you from behind it? Unfortunately, Alice's mother dismisses Alice's claims and even sends her to therapy, where she is diagnosed and prescribed medicine. However, this does not stop the haunting chattering and noises in the house. Alice, who is trying to make it to her high school graduation in one piece, struggles to cope with her home tormenting her… or is it really the home itself or someone that resides in it?
I like Alice a lot. She reminded me of myself in high school (sheltered, misunderstood, needing to explore and come into adulthood). The MMC, the masked man whose name I will not reveal because that's a spoiler, is overwhelmingly creepy but alluring (dark romance readers will understand). He has studied the chapter titled "touch her and die" in the How to be a Dark Romance MMC book. RIP to most of the men in this book. The relationship between him and Alice is ripe with fear, lust, and control. I appreciate the author writing out Alice's inner ramblings as she attempts to justify her attraction to the masked man. It's nice to see a FMC in a dark romance ask themselves how they can love someone who murdered another right in front of their eyes.
The book needs a lot of editing to help with spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, and some flow. There are little to no breaks in the story that would help the reader identify if the events on the page take place on different dates or at the same time. The ending was a little jarring, but after sitting and thinking about it, it made sense. There's a second book and I think it will add further depth to the story.
4/5 stars; 4/5 spice because there's some dubcon, murder, bullying, attempted grooming of a minor, profanity, attempted rape, and k!nks.

Alice. Her father dies. Her mother marries again. As she gets older her stepfather makes her feel….uneasy. He moved them into a dark scary gothic mansion when she was nine. Wilfred the old caretaker has been in the house since birth and caretaker since in his teens and his father and his father's father have been caretakers. Shes been seeing and hearing things in the mansion since she was little. Shes learned to keep quite about them because her mother never believed her and has taken her to a doctor that put her on pills. They call her freak at school thanks to her mother. Theres always that crowd. Her only friend at school is Ivy. Not only does she hear things but now that shes 18 shes been having a night visitor that she cant see because he wears a mask. She goes to a haunted circus and sees her night visitor in his mask. She goes to a party and leaves with guy that she thinks has set her up by the other kids, you wonder if he could be him??. She goes to a club a guy drags her to a room and her night visitor is there to save her, in his mask. She keeps asking him about the noises in the wall and doors closing and he doesnt know what shes talking about. When you are reading and the story goes to who owns the Hades mansion and how the boys died and the night stranger and the noises in the wall and the initials on the ferris wheel and you start to say I know whats going on and you cant wait to get to the end of the book to see if you're right. You read more and think hes the one doing that. Then you start to think they are so different but the same it could be both of them. Then nooo it cant be him. Then something happens and its not him. Its like watching a murder mystery where you try and guess the murderer. WOW what a rollercoaster ride. Edge of your seat read. Loved it. But Im confused???

Fast read and engaging plot, but the ending. I almost threw my IPad out the window and resigned from ever reading ARC again. I was willing to look past the typos and formatting errors, but the ending…
Croww really made the characters hateable, I felt like I was going to puke each time the dumb jocks appeared. Well executed. There are also loveable little darlings such as Ivy [AKA The Best Girl].
In between the plot and spice, the author mentions very accurate statements such as:
“Some think girls are incapable of understanding men because of how emotional we get regarding sex. We can shut that part of our psyche off and [become] carnal like they are. Some men don’t know what to do about it when we do. It’s why they call us sluts. Whores. I call it freethinking or rather–– free feeling. Satisfying our own needs. Some of us do it in private.”
In short it’s a good read if you give it a chance, and you’re not so picky about errors. I honestly didn’t find them that bad, I still understood the story. She wrote a compelling 18 year old troubled girl, don’t expect her to write poetry and speak like she’s a fairy.

First off, please let me just say do not read this if you have any triggers. There's no TWs listed, but there is a warning at the beginning. This is an erotic horror romance book more on the horror and erotica side, though.

Holy shit where do I even begin with this book?! It was amazingly written and descriptive. It will take you on a wild ride for sure. Excite you, piss you off, cheer, sit on the edge of your seat wondering what's going to happen next. I finished this book quickly because I didn't want to put it down and then got sad when it was over 🤣
Alice is an 18 year old high school student who had moved into a home when she was a young child with her mother and stepfather, which she deems haunted. Everyone thinks she's crazy as she hears things that others don't and is labeled a freak in school because of it. Along the way, she loses her virginity to an unknown masked man late one night, who is possibly only a figment of her imagination. It freaks her out but arouses her just as much. She also makes some new friends, Ivy, who she stands up for and becomes close to, and Lazarus, whom she wants to push away. The tales between them will make your head spin. There are many ups and downs, lefts, and rights. Are you ready for the ride? Get ready for twists, turns, torture, and omg's. It will leave you with many questions.

I finished this book quickly because I didn't want to put it down and then got sad when it was over 🤣
Alice is an 18 year old high school student who had moved into a home when she was a young child with her mother and stepfather, which she deems haunted. Everyone thinks she's crazy as she hears things that others don't and is labeled a freak in school because of it. Along the way, she loses her virginity to an unknown masked man late one night, who is possibly only a figment of her imagination. It freaks her out but arouses her just as much. She also makes some new friends, Ivy, who she stands up for and becomes close to, and Lazarus, whom she wants to push away. The tales between them will make your head spin. There are many ups and downs, lefts, and rights. Are you ready for the ride? Get ready for twists, turns, torture, and omg's. It will leave you with many questions.

This book was totally not what I was expecting at all. This book put me through the ringer and kept flipping the script in my mind. I felt for Alice in the way that her mom treated her and the way her stepfather was treating her. He gave me a huge ick from the get go of the book. There is so much going on in this book. Anyways, I feel for Alice throughout the book as people were saying she was freak. She didn't know whether she was imagining things or if they were really happening to her. Hades in the book was confusing as heck. I couldn't decide how he fell in love with Alice in the book. In the end of the book it was explained but I was still confused how it all happened. There was not much back history of the two of them in the book. Though, I thought he was so interesting having two sides of him. But...I needed more in the book. The plot had a lot of good points there was point I thought something was going to happen but it didn't. But it did not take away from the scene. The smut in this book is so dark and very graphic that it was the lead in the book. I actually think in some places that the smut took over from the story. I needed more in their relationship and the ending really threw off the totally book. Was it all a dream or did it really happen. Or was it a premotion that going to happen. So confused.... but it's a good read. I recommend checking it out.

I was very much intrigued by the blurb on this one, glad I took a chance on this, it turned out to be a good read! Don't confuse it for a romance read, it is not! It is an erotic / horror with dark mature themes and a standalone.
The whole story revolves around Alice who moved into an old mansion with her parents at the age of 9. She instantly felt a connection with the house, felt it had a dark presence and was soon hearing noises from the walls and whispers.
Of course her mum and step-dad did not believe what she said, and referred her for counselling, who medicated her and made things worse. As she gets older and matures she wants to explore her sexuality, but the lines between real and imagination begin to blur as she has 'encounters' in the night with a masked man that gives her what she craves!
Lots of twists and turns in this that will leave you with many more questions than answers! The ending left me feeling like I was missing another couple of chapters I think!
Lots of erotic / dirty / smutty scenes in this, some on the darker / kinkier side, so be warned. This will have your head whirling and your senses reeling as you wonder what is real and what is not!
Definitely and interesting and different type of read!

I figured with the start of the new year to branch out to genres that were not my norm. The concept for Whispers in the Dark appealed to me with the notion of seemingly 'haunted' homes, hidden secrets, and a sprinkle of horror. Thus we arrived on all that makes this for the genre classification of Erotic Horror.
The story concept itself was intriguing and interesting if not for its lack of background information. It was quite brief. Despite it the characters especially Hades and Lazarus were unique and multi-dimensional which helped keep my attention.
Sure there were healthy doses of erotic interludes which may be a bit hardcore for gentle tastebuds but they were not offputting. The author is talented in detail description making 50 Shades of Grey look like third grade rubbish
The horror though is more spook show with a few slasher moments but nothing full blown creep you out to your soul horror. It is more like Hellraiser meets a lonely horny ghost who finds a girl willing to get horny at the drop of a hat.
All the same it isnt a bad read and I look forward to see what the writer comes up with next. Until next time, happy reading

I pretty much saw that little twist coming. But I'm glad Hades was there for her even though she told him to leave. He still stayed to protect her from the creeping pervert. "From the first time I met you." YOU SICK FUCK SHE WAS 9 YEARS OLD. Disgusting. I knew it from the mere mention of his name. "It's not if he will. It's a matter of when." I felt nauseous and sickened when I know that happens in real life. (I'm not talking about the MCs)
Yes Hades lurked in the walls and played the piano for her when she was home alone But he only wanted to protect her. Can you imagine how evil and disgusting you have to be for a 9 year old boy to live in the walls to protect a 9 year old girl. To grow up with her in the dark for fear of what you might do to her?

Whispers in the Dark is a dark romance, that you can blow through in one sitting if you really feel up to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the characters, but I felt there were some scenes that were rushed and could have used some more development which is why I'm only giving it three stars. I will absolutely be reading the next book in the series because I can't wait for Ivy's story and romance.
The character development, world building, and background of everything is very well thought out and is captivating. I personally pieced things together at a certain point but it wasn't in a bad way, it was an exciting way that created anticipation. The anticipation of that mixed in with the anticipation of what was happening between Hades and Alice was just the ultimate level of GIVE ME MORE!
Adding some more build up in between certain events and before some things happened would have helped get my five stars, because it made it feel rushed and not in a clean or smooth way in a lot of spots. There were also some moments between characters that felt forced for the sake of the plot but weren't necessary and that threw things off sometimes.

Right from the start, I very much disliked Alice's mother. Alice's mother would rather medicate Alice and call her crazy than listen to her poor child for 5 seconds. I'm not sure if the stepfather is actually nice or has nefarious intentions with his niceties towards Alice. It truly makes me sad this child from the age of 9 to 18 has had no one to care about her, her well being, love her, or even have a friend! That alone is bound to mess with Alice's mind, then throw in the strange occurrences in this gothic mansion. It's hard to reconcile! Who and what is trying to get Alice's attention? Are the noises in the house and the masked man the same thing? "He doesn’t call me a freak or think I’m crazy. He’s crazy enough for both of us." Just when I thought I had things figured out, I read the last chapter and then I'm left wondering what did I read afterall? Maybe I'm the crazy one. This book isn't super scary horror but more gothic and mysterious. There are still things I'm unclear about but that's what makes the book interesting. I would like to read more books from the circus world.

I am so happy I decided to take the plunge and jump into Whipsers In the Dark by Delilah Croww because this was definitely a thrilling read. I literally felt like Alice herself constantly trying to figure out what's real and what's made up. I absolutely love feeling challenged and also there being no judgment on liking something that is happening with the characters. In this case Alice has been visited by a masked man to give her pleasure in the dark, not knowing who or what is visiting. But still these scenes were super hot and just like with her, I wouldn't feel guilty for the enjoyment.
I really appreciate being able to read this review copy, however I just wish the story was longer. When Alice starts going out and meeting guys, Lazarus in particular, the scenes started to feel rushed. The ending was pretty suspenseful with all the tension and buildup but I'm still scratching my head at what all took place. I do hope Delilah Croww plans to revisit this world, I feel like there is so much left to uncover and other characters who should receive the spotlight. Overall this was definitely worth the read and one I see myself coming back to again.
