I really enjoyed reading this series. It wasn't over the top action hero drama. Just a group of neighbors banning together doing what is right for them. Very believable. What made me most anxious was not the outside actions of no electricity, gangs and lack of services. ..it was the tyrants of the HOA. Talk about abuse of power. Definitely recommend this book, series and author. Keep them coming.
Bobby Akart does it again and provides a heart pounding nonstop tell for when the SHTF. Great character development and story line. Thank you for a great series!
I have read all 4 novels of Behind the Gate by Bobby Akart. They are outstanding. In fact I've read several of his other novels also. New Madrid was exceptional for me as I grew up close to that area. To read what could happen in that area blew my mind. The Yellowstone series was also top notch. I now live in a gated community in Florida & after reading all 4 of the Behind the Gates novels, they have really made me start questioning the way we live down here. I'm considering visiting a gun shop. I'm 86 years old but my goodness, if something like this happens (and it could) we all need to chip in & help out any way we can.
I think Bobby Akart is one of the best authors I have ever read. All his books pack so much wallop it is sometimes terrifying, but very real. I recommend him very highly.
The collapse of America continues with known and unexpected problems arising from greed and envy
The Friday Night Club work together to survive the dangerous situation with no power, no water and disappearing food supplies. In the gated community envy and greed reflect the circumstances of the nation in general. Forced to survive multiple attacks and invasions from desperate people, the Colony could collapse. Good people work diligently to survive in this return to pre-industrial lifestyles.
Amazing characters work together to survive this apocalyptic new world. Great storyline, a warning can be found among the rhetoric. Survival is not a solo game. This ends a remarkably good read!
This is the first time that I have read a series by Mr. Akart where I wanted to know what happened. Spoiler alert*****I will forever wonder what happened to Grayson,Lee and Nicole, but especially Grayson.
I enjoyed the series and usual it's very fact based. We could all hope to have a black ops, operator into neighborhood, but many people have access to former and retired marines, army rangers, etc that do have more knowledge than the average citizen,if only people took the time to know their neighbors.
The Colony is attacked again but this attack was well planned, many residents were murdered but with Grayson, Dean and other members of the group fought back and won the day. After the attack they came to the conclusion that they will have to leave their homes and the community. Plans are made, supplies are gathered and transportation is found. Sadly one couple decides to stay as they think they can get the remaining residents to band together and protect their homes. A satisfying conclusion to a great series.
Our intrepid gang has fractured as some move on to what is felt to be a more sustainable and safe location while some choose to stay in California and attempt a rebuild... all while specter of nuclear war refuses to disappear. The sheepdog returns to his unit to continue to protect and defend his beloved country as he has for so long and he is missed by all. I do hope this will continue to be an ongoing series as it is outstanding and extremely timely. Great job!
Bobby Akart’s books are like the Energizer Bunny on steroids! This series is intense, stimulating and astounding. It is fast paced, adrenaline rushing, angst ridden and utterly realistic. His characters are identifiable to most, if not all, readers. This storyline is so strong and immersive that the reader cannot help to feel it in their own lives. Highly recommend !
I loved the story it really pulled you in. However, it seems the story fell flat at the end. The cross county trip was all but forgotten. What happened to the handsome Ranger? What happened at the Colony? Did they return home? Can’t imagine the twin off the man killed did not seek revenge. Just too many loose ends. Could have been another book to finish it off and tie it all together.
Another exciting, thoughtful book and series of what life could be like when the collapse happens.
Akart doesn’t provide a solution to the crisis but does provide insights on how to survive the crisis. Everyone made their own decisions on how to deal with the state of the country after the power grid collapsed and followed through on them.
The book is entertaining and engaging. Bobby Akart is one of my favorite authors.
Bobby Smart is a very good writer. His characters have depth and his plots are tight and engaging. I have loved all his books until this one. Why? Politics! Akart beats you over the head with red vs blue, Republican vs. Democrat. Its tiring and maddening, especially if your politics don't align with Akarts. Such a shame as this book had such a good plot. Will I read him again? Maybe. But will sneak a peak first to see if he's on his soapbox.
Not truly a post-apocalyptic story but related and, sadly, all too possible and believable.
Enjoyed the characters and the story, dragged just slightly with the post-incident events power struggle which was predictable (bad guys always take advantage and control, people with good intentions are always astounded by bad guys), but the strong characters Bobby developed and interesting plot twists keep one turning pages.
If this is the last book of the series, then I will never know what happened to Grayson and the ones left behind, in the Colony. This bothers me. The entire story is great. I'm Anyone who loves apocalypse fiction, I think will enjoy it.
This book is set in the present days of 2024 U.S. political strife. Each book has ramped up to the question of whether or not the end of days as we know them are near. Do we need to prepare for life without electricity, without abundant food supplies, without medical supplies and care? Consider doing so…!
I really enjoyed this series, as usual for Bobby Akart books. The amount of research he puts in shows in his writing. His stories are so realistic that it makes me want to become a prepper, but part of me just isn’t ready to believe it could be needed. Can’t wait for the next series!
TERRIFYING, ENLIGHTENING just another 5 Star Rating!
Have you ever read a book and you thought you were included as a character! I felt every emotion as I read this book by none other than Bobby Akart. What a book! What a series of books by this man who makes words have colors and feelings!
I really enjoyed this series until this last book. Very rushed writing and even story line. This was a great series and one I read without interruption. Why this turn of events, no idea but didn't feel much thought was placed in writing this last book. Super disappointed
Throughly enjoyed storyline, characters and action. Disappointed at the end of book 4, really wanted more! One item “the town of Jackson Hole” the town is just “Jackson”, the whole area is “Jackson Hole” the area seemed surrounded by mountains, so first settlers called it a “Hole”. Important difference to the residents. But Jackson Hole sounds neater!
Bobby Akart pulls off another good series with this one. The characters feel like family. Read the whole series, both the wife and I did. Wife grew up in So Cal so knows all of the areas in the book. She is thrilled to be out of there and living remotely now! Give this or anyone of Nonby Akart series a try. You won’t be disappointed
In this conclusion to the Collapse of America, the Colony has barely survived its first intrusion and are unprepared for all all out attack by a well prepared gang. In the aftermath each couple has to determine their path, stay or flee.
I’m not ready for the story to end! I want to know what happens to Grayson and Lee and Nicole. Like your other series, I get attached to the characters and hate for the ending to come. Another great series.
Couldn't wait to see how this ended. As usual he wrapped it all nicely, albeit with a few unexpected twists. I so love reading Mr Akarts books. He is a great writer and does the research to make the books interesting. I have read all his books to date and can't wait for more.
Another winning series from the best selling author Bobby Akart. He's like a fishermen, laying the groundwork, then checking the nets, and finally reaping the rewards! He uses bait that draws them in, then later reaps a full catch! Read this series and enjoy!
The characters were developed so that I felt I knew them. The story was realistic enough that it made me think, “This could actually happen!” It was a real eye-opener and I loved it.
Many people are getting antsy about "the something-is-about-to-happen" feeling we all anticipate given the abominable botched up 'governing' at all levels, right now.
Greatly enjoyed the book, the plot was real and represented current day views. It scary how this could actually happen and helps me think through what we would need to do to survive. Thanks for a good read!
This was an interesting series. The characters were very different and very adaptable in the reactions to events. Once again, the author crafted a story that was special and enticing. I put everything else on the back burner to get through the series.
I was critical of the first two books. The third was better. This one starts with a bang and continues. The story keeps you reading. Unfortunately, the end is kind of anticlimactic, especially four books in.
Not only worth reading but worth paying attention to!
Read all 4 books in 2 days! I am looking forward to the next series. Bobby Akart develops his characters and draws you in with an action pack story that could be our future as Americans!
Good ending for the people living behind the gates. The attack from the gang was good reading and its always nice when good overcomes evil. Can't wait to see if Mr. Akart has a plan to write something about the people that made the trek to the west.
