"In July 1990, the First National Bank of Chicago was robbed. Chloe Cross was two years old. This is the story of how she pulled it off. As far as she knows, Chloe Cross is the world's only time traveler. She can't change history, but she can attend David Bowie concerts, relive happy memories, and sleep with herself in different time periods (don't judge her).
Until one trip, when she inadvertently returns home to an altered timeline. An older version of herself reveals she's figured out how to move between timelines, to enjoy an "effect" without suffering the consequences of "cause."
Chloe embarks on a mission with two other versions of herself to become rich by robbing a bank thirty years in the past. But the robbery is just the beginning, and the real struggle will begin after she walks out of the vault.
Because no matter how far you run, there are always consequences.
Geonn Cannon is a male author who grew up in Oklahoma, thousands of miles from the nearest coastline, who found his calling in stories about women who live on an island in the Pacific Northwest. In 2010, Geonn became the first male author to win the prestigious Golden Crown Literary Society Award for his novel "Gemini." In 2015, he won it again for "Dogs of War." He has written two official tie-in novels for Stargate SG-1, and his Riley Parra novels have been turned into an Emmy-nominated webseries by Tello Films. His first name is pronounced just like "John."
I just didn't vibe with this book... the writing was mediocre. Several passages where EVERY sentence just started with "I". The story felt lazy. The time travel aspect wasn't fleshed out enough. So many missed opportunities when I just wished we would've gotten more information and the author just went "But these things aren't important so let's move on" or "lols sorry Im rambling let's talk about something else" The "big conclusion" at the end fell so flat it's not even funny. Characters were solid. I liked how there was no man in sight. Literally only 1 guy in the whole book. All lesbian, self-loving goodness.
I wouldnt recommend this book for anyone but honestly if you like time travel, heist, sapphic shit? And don't mind the writing being choppy and unsatisfying at points?I say just go for it 🤷🏻♀️
This book is amazing. Time travel, a bank heist, and a bit of romance. Which could be a weird combination if done heavy handedly. The author weaves it all together so that none of it takes away from the rest. I had a good time trying to figure out how the characters were going to resolve the problems they encountered. The part that sticks with me is the character growth that Chloe shows through out the book. It hit home, and made me look at my life a little differently. I am by no means a time traveling chef with a bank robbing side gig, but then, who is?

Okay. Took me way more time than I initially planned but I finally finished this book!
First off, I love the way this book starts. It is like a slap in the face to wake up and get ready for the ride that is this story, but I do have to say, even though the author reminds us a couple of times of the beginning, I do have to be honest and say that I, as a certain point, I had no idea who the author was talking about when he mentioned Darwin (At first, I thought it was Charles Darwin, turns out I was incredibly wrong).
Now, the writing was very cool, because it feels like the protagonist, Chloe Cross, is directly walking us through fases of her life, and sometimes even stops to make sure we're following everything. It was fun to take a break sometimes and just read her "talking to us, the reader".
The story is very, very intricate. The ups and downs, the twists and turns, the shocks and it all. Plus, the time travel and the romance are so good! Although, I do wish that we maybe had an explanation for how Chloe can time travel.
The synopsis is perfect and super captivating for a book that will surely fill your expectation.
On a last note, I would love to know the connection between the title and the story, because I can't seem to figure that one out!
Signing off, B.

Very interesting book with a lot of threads to follow. You have time travel, parallel worlds, bank heists, some romance and a leading lady with personal growth. A book you have to keep your focus on but also one that pulls you in effortlessy. Just don't expert an explanation for everything, but if you want to know whats it like to be a time traveler / chef you can follow along for a part of the ride in this book. Believe me, it's well worth your time.
