“If only our secrets can stay buried like dead bodies.”

My stagnant life finally moves in the right direction after finding my match in Julian Smith.
I write twisted fairytales for a living, but never get the chance to live my own story until I matched with Julian through an app that paired people based on their internet history.
The flashing red signs are right in my face, but I blissfully ignores them. I can finally be weird and free without judgement, something I never could do growing up. Then when Julian feeds my passions, I can’t ever leave.
Thing is, not all fairytales are perfect, something I find out when the edge to Julian’s eyes become sharper than a blade and pierce me.
I know I need to run.
But can I?
More do I even want to run?

This book is a DARK ROMANTIC COMEDY that WILL have content that some may find triggering or uncomfortable. Please read the content warning page before reading the story.

Boring and vapid

Almost DNF this book because it was so poorly written. So much filler that I could skim through 75 pages and be in the same conversation. 300 pages of literally no story line besides a girl with cringy insecurity that is absurdly embarrassing. 100 pages dedicated to her talking poorly of herself and the author describing how boring her physical appearance was. Instead of the book going into detail about the supposed storyline it was an entire book of her relentlessly rambling and him rambling about why he questions his emotions toward her. The last 80 pages maybe had some interesting conflict but the 250+ pages prior did not make the ending worth even reading.

Perhaps I'll come back to this book some day, but I am just not in the mindset for it. Unfortunately, I find the FMC so incredibly annoying it's hard to get through to the actual plot. There is WAYYY too much "oh I'm so ugly" "Im just average" "I'm so weird" "Im just not good enough for a man" as well as the "oh I'm so little and small and tiny" that I just can't get through it. It's giving pick me in the worst way, and that is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I received this book as an ARC from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was giving “The Mindf*ck Series” vibe and I loved it!

How can a detective end up in a relationship with a serial killer? Easily.. just read Rose’s book!

Their story was funny and very cleverly written. I loved how he described murder scenes and there were many things pointing to him yet she didn’t put the puzzle together until the end.

There were many plot twists which made the book even more enjoyable.

Oh and the spice? Very SPICYYY 👀🥵🥵

I seriously couldn’t put the book down and managed to devour it within a few hours!

I have really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more of them!

Thank you to Rose for gifting me this book! I am so grateful to be on her ARC team.

If you’re looking for a funny darkish serial killer romance with amazing spice then this is absolutely perfect!

I completely fell in love with Julian. He may be a serial killer and completely insane but I 100% understand why Avery stays because…. same 😂. The spice in the book was amazing and the tension was there from the beginning!

This book is not for someone who is below the age of 18! Or the faint of heart I would read the trigger warnings. This book has a lot of spicy scenes but not over the top.

Get ready to lose sleep, because you will become obsessed with these characters!
Avery is a Crime Scene Investigator by day, but her dream is to become a twisted fairytale
writer. Avery had a very dark childhood; her parents emotionally abused her and she had high
school bullies. Now as an adult she doesn't believe anyone will ever love her, that is until she
matches with someone on this new dating app called Search For My Match. This app matches
you with people who google search similar things. Avery and Julian have a 90% match, which is
unheard of on this app. The average match is 50-70%. He is too perfect for Avery. So much so
that she continues to be surprised by him. She keeps waiting for him to become annoyed with
her constant talking and need for affection. She sees occasional red flags but either brushes
them off or she can't quite put her finger on what it is. Julian is this serial killer that she has been
investigating. His day job is the perfect cover. He runs a billion dollar construction business.
Make room for your new morally grey book husband ladies. Julian is your typical serial killer who
is a psychopath who doesn't express or feel emotions until their match. Now Julian is doing
things he never thought possible. Now he can't imagine his life without her and now he will do
whatever he can to keep her to himself.

My 2 top Favorite Quotes:
● You're a ray of sunshine while I’m a lonely little forest troll in the shadows.
● I will always be your shadow, your little guardian demon. I won’t deny that I’m not a good
man but to you, I will always be nothing shy of perfect because you deserve perfection
and so much more. I’m not gonna be your hero who saves you. I am your demon who
will slaughter anyone and everyone who dares to judge.

Looking for a fast paced, easy read, look no further. By the time you're half way through it, you
are not going to be able to put the book down. I needed to know what was going to happen and
fast. By the time I got to the middle of the book I had become obsessed with these characters
and needed to know what was going to happen next, but at the same time I did not want this
story to end. I loved this book so much, I feel so honored to have been an ARC reader and have
the opportunity to read this book before anyone else. This is my very first ARC read. Rose
Chase did such an amazing job. She really knows how to draw the reader in!! I related to Avery
so much that I felt like I was Avery or that Rose somehow knew me. Then you have Julian who
seems to be the perfect man for her. He knows just what to say and he means it, most of the
time. Given the fact that he is a serial killer, Julian doesn't have neurotypical feelings towards
people until Avery. She is the first person that he can't imagine hurting let alone killing her. This
book is fast paced and has a way of keeping you guessing what's going to happen next. They
both become equally obsessed with each other in a way that you don't see often. You really
need to read this book to fully grasp it. It is truly amazing. Now that it's over I wish I could read itagain for the first time . I can't wait to read the second book in this series, I hope I have inspired you to give this book a read. Now let's make this book go viral on booktok

I really enjoyed this book.
I definitely have a thing for banter with characters and the banter and awkwardness from the FMC is everything.
I’m so happy with the way the story flowed, the timeline made sense.
You know how in some books it just seems to move to fast? Like unrealistically so? That takes me out of the story and I’m like 🤔 that doesn’t seem right. But this book has a realistic flow, and it’s put together so well.
It makes it so much easier to picture everything when reading when it’s realistic.
The bdsm scenes were also SO RESPONSIBLE! I loveddddd that he touched on safewords, and never getting upset about using a safe word, and all of that, how he checks her safewords before every scene.
So many books with bdsm or cnc involved are sooo irresponsible with the way they write it, but this one felt safe. It was correct, like you can tell the author did her research.
It gives Butcher and blackbird with the banter and the characters, while adding in a little seasoning of daddy issues, and we all love that.
All in all I loved this book and I fully intend to read anything else that comes out from this author!

I was excited to read this as my first ARC. I found it to be a good paced dark romance. “Daddy” trope isn’t for me but it’s not an overwhelming plot that I didn’t enjoy the book. Julian’s respect for Avery was the reason I enjoyed seeing their story bloom. The bdsm was handled so respectfully. I absolutely love the banter and really connected to the characters that way.

I really loved this book. I felt that the characters and storyline were built very good. It kept my attention! I could not put this book down! The only thing I really have to say about this book is I wish the ending could have been a bit longer and maybe went into more od what happened at the end and not jump to 5 years ahead!

OMG What did I just read!!! 4.5 I loved it and could not put it down. This encapsulated perfectly what I love about this genre/trope. You have a serial unaliver (morally grey MMC) who is completely obsessed with the FMC who is a sweet, shy and a bit of a brat and they just worked so well. Julian is basically faking emotions to make his life easier, but he doesn't really feel much other than the excitement of the chase and taking of a life. That is until he meets Avery and instantly, he is obsessed with her, but he starts to feel other things that he has never felt before such as the idea of hurting her in any way upsets him and it makes him happy to see her happy something he hasn't really felt before. In with keeping her happy he is always talking about her limits with her, talking about and getting her consent and making sure she knows she can always use her safe word. He is very mindful of all her needs.

They also are so cute in how they interact with one another when it 1) comes to banter and 2) they are like a long-term couple who just like to be comfortable with each other watching crime shows. It seems so normal until you realize he a serial unaliver and she is a csi who is writing a spicy serial unaliver romance and is obsessed with serial unalivers. Now just becuase they have reached that level of comfort like those in a long-term relationship doesn't mean their passion for one another is comfortable. These two get up to some dirty & spicy scenes and it was hot hot hot.

I will say I usually don't like shy and sweet FMC I prefer the stronger kick butt ones BUT I adored Avery and just wanted to protect her and keep her safe myself. She has had a really rough life with her messed up parents and the kids at school and all the things they did and continue to do to her. I just wanted to join Julian in taking out all these people so they could never hurt her again.

This isn't the full quote, but this one quote just sent chills down my spine in the book " I am not gonna be your hero who saves you. I am your demon who will slaughter anyone and everyone who dares to change you, I am a killer and that will never change, but I am your killer. Your tool and I will forever taint my hands to keep your world safe and perfect" like OMG don't we all wish we had a person like that in our lives.

Loved this book and will def be getting a physical copy.

This story is about Avery is a CSI for the local police force who is obsessed with serial unalivers and is writing her own dark romance about serial unlivers which works perfectly as there is a serial unaliver in the area that keeps eluding the police. Julian who she matches with owns a big construction company who seems so normal on the surface but deep down he has a big secret. His secret is that he is the unaliver the police are looking for and they are no closer to finding out who he is. But then one day he is matched with a woman through a dating app where they match you based on your search web history. They have a 90% match based on their mutual search engines which makes him extremely curious as to who this person could be because his search history is mostly research about his "hobby". It is then he meets Avery a CSI agent who he can't stop thinking about and who is making him feel things he has never felt before. Will their relationship be able to withstand this secret or are them doomed to fail and what will Avery do when she realizes what Julians "Hobby" is.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

ARC Review
This is my second time reading her work and yet again she did not disappoint. I really enjoyed reading this book because of the genre dark romance element, the added comedy within this book was well put together and had me laughing all the way through that most of their conversations were about crime, and serial killers and its ironic that the MMC is also one as well.

The spice in this book was some next level it was overly done but it was just right like having a nice cup of coffee that is sweet. I loved every single part of this book it has a strong plot and well developed characters and a very good read at that.
the two main characters Avery and Julian their chemistry between one another was just the cherry on top of the cake and I loved reading about their kindling story together.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a dark romance that would make them laugh.

Get ready to lose sleep, because you will become obsessed with these characters!

Thank you Rose Chase for accepting me in your ARC group and sending me this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the SPICE was amazing! I did not know what to expect and I am not disappointed one bit. I love a dark romance with a twist! The character development is great! And you really get to know each character by reading in each one’s POV!

We meet Avery who is trying to be a published writer, is obsessed with crime, serial killers, and works as a CSI her job is to gather evidence from crime scenes. She has zero confidence, says her looks are below average, and that she’s weird, and was bullied in school. While at the library she sees a man who is clearly out of her league, and she does not approach him but wishes he would. She thought it would be the last time she saw him.

Avery is on a dating app that matches people based on their computer search history ( I would’ve have loved that) she matches with someone who they find is 90% compatible with her! This person also loves serial killers, crime, and they are set up on a date.

To her surprise, it’s the same man she saw at the library! Julian- who we get his POV throughout the boom and find that he too was into her and regrets not approaching her at the library and is excited to find her as his date.

Their story begins- Avery and Julian falling for each other! Avery being honest from the beginning with Julian and telling him all about her, her family and how she was bullied in school. Avery gets a weird feeling from Julian at times but has no idea why.

As their love grows, in more ways than one! Avery wants to find out what is going on with Julian when he goes out at night a lot, is she ready for the truth? Will it be too much for Avery to handle?

✨ Killer In The Sheets By Rose Chase ✨

Well I got to say. I never thought I was gonna be reading about a serial kill3r finding love but here we are lol. I've read a lot of books with dark themes and dark tropes but I gave it a go late last year at one book where two serial kill3rs found love and I was really excited about it since I've seen it all over TT but unfortunately we're almost mid year in 2024 and I haven't been able to get past chapter 5 yet 🫣 so I was a bit nervous going into this one. Rose Chase it's a new author for me but after seeing her videos on social media promoting this book I decided to try again and I gotta say I liked it. The start was a little slow for me. I found that I was getting sidetracked easily. After rearranging my reading atmosphere I was able to focus. It was a cute read. I liked the fact that Julian had a specific "type" of target. And OMG the way he fell for Avery had me swooning 😍😍. And also Rose thank you for reminding me how much I dislike high school reunions. I have never had the urge to attend them and after reading this book it reiterated why not lol.

If you are a fan of the TV shows Dexter and the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigator, you will be enthralled with Killer in the Sheets. It's the book version of these two TV shows crossing over, I swear. Then, throw in some spice...a lot of spice...spice that involves BDSM. Not just BDSM but a game of cat and mouse. I mean, what more can a reader of dark romance ask for? Not much.

Avery is a very sheltered and innocent upper twenty something who works as a CSI tech in her small town. She is enthralled with murder and the minds of serial killers. Her current obsession is The Omen, the serial killer in her community that is killing people who have escaped punishment from the justice system.

Julian is a wealthy business man with the mind of a psychopath who kills those whom have escaped punishment of the justice system. He makes sure to leave every scene without a body, pristine of any evidence leading back to him, raven feathers, and a file of the victim's crimes.

After a chance encounter at the local library that leaves Avery and Julian aching that they didn't get each other's contact information, a dating app using their internet search history just so happens to connect the two. They meet for their first date, and it's all uphill from there.

Killer in the Sheets is a thrilling ride from start to finish. I was dying to know the entire time when Julian would screw up and Avery would discover his secret, and when she did, would she be able to forgive him and accept him? Then, I found it really intriguing how Julian began to actually feel for Avery, and only Avery. With my schooling in Psychology, this book was so very intriguing and kept me on my toys with each chapter. Not only were the characters deep and suffering, but the story line was one where you just don't want to put down your Kindle. If I didn't have to adult, I would've finished this book much sooner. Rose Chase is an amazing author. I love seeing her represent the Asian community, especially the females. Rose Chase is an author that writes captivating stories with well researched roles in her characters. You won't be disappointed in Killer in the Sheets.

This was my first book I've read as an ARC.
I liked this book a lot - it just wasn't my favorite.

I found the FMC kind of annoying and the constant comparing of her being petite & ordinary too much. I felt like the book kind of moved too fast for my taste.

I know that it's MEANT to be obvious with the MMC comparing her hair to that of a raven's wing and him calling her "little birdie," but it just made me feel like the FMC was oblivious and kind of dumb even when she obsessed with serial killers and her literal obsession of the serial killer terrorizing her town being known for leaving raven feathers at the crime scene.

That being said, I think the smut scenes were written really well. The chase of it reminded me of Haunting Adeline. But the MMC was very responsible (as one other reviewer said), he let her tell him her limits and made sure she was comfortable while she explored herself.

I couldn't really get too into the chemistry of the characters, MMC felt like a knockoff Dexter Morgan. All around, a pretty entertaining book but ultimately not my favorite.

I am highly honored to be an ARC reader for this book.

Every aspect of this book screams phenomenal and I loved how there was some smut mixed in with the plot and it never got lost in the mix.
There were some parts of the book that I felt were a little bit wordy or reiterated, but it never strayed from what the book was trying to tell.
I wish there could’ve been a little bit more action and a little bit more plot to the plot, but all in all, this book definitely deserves 3 to 4 stars.

I take music breaks from reading once in a while, and while listening to my playlist, I found two perfect songs that just matched these characters, and it made me wanna read the book even more.
If you can find a song that matches a character in a book. Then you know the author has giving you an idea of that character is, perfectly in your mind.

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend and I can’t wait to read more books from this author.

The spice was spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and the chemistry between the two characters ignited a blazing fire! Right from the start, there were warning signs, but who can blame the girl for overlooking them in her quest for that one precious shot at happiness?

I deducted 1.5 stars because the comedy was lacking in what was supposed to be a rom-com. Instead, it turned out to be a steamy romantic love story between two similar yet different individuals that I couldn’t put down. I would have loved to see more behind-the-scenes of her job. However, the author managed to earn back half a star with the well-written spice throughout, ultimately bringing the rating up to a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

All in all, a really great read! I had no issues powering through the entire book in less than 24hrs!

I received this book as an advanced reader copy for free and have provided my review absolutely voluntarily. I also recommend checking trigger warnings before reading.

I devoured this book. Avery, a CSI, had a chance meeting at the library with Julian, the serial killer she's investigating. She runs off but leaves him absolutely obsessed with her. The second time they meet, they are matched on a dating app based on their internet history. Julian is possessive and protective, and treats her like his queen so she obviously falls head over mattress for him. This book was funny and sweet and 🔥 🔥 🔥. Some scenes were a little cringy at times because this guy went from 'feeling cute, might kill her later' to 'couldn't imagine ever hurting this impossibly perfect creature' So sappy but I LOVED it. If you wanted Dexter to have more spice, this is for you. I did find Avery to be a little whiney and irritating. I like her but the Julian chapters are my favorite.

Can we talk about the spice in this book 5/5🌶️ definitely some jaw dropping scenes and scenes that had my stomach doing somersaults 🤭.

The Banter!!! Throughout the book was a chief kiss

I love the uniqueness of the dating app and how it matches people based of their interest in search history. I was so intrigued by it.

Avery is a CSI who is writing a book about serial unaliver and romance, and when she meets billionaire and handsome Julian she can’t believe it. All her life she’s been the weird ugly asian duck, so she is shocked when she match Julian in a dating app and he wants to start dating her, but what she doesn’t know is that he is the serial killer that has been kidnapping the criminals that the justice let go free.

Their chemistry is really hot and kinky including bdsm moments.

I loved their banter about how they would kill each other and their love for true crime programs.

The spice in these book was on another level🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ , with one of my favorite kinks, so that's plus. The chemistry between the two main characters was incredible! Right from the start, there were warning signs, but who can blame the girl for overlooking few red flags in quest for love and happiness?
Steamy darkish romantic story between two similar yet different individuals. Well written story and plot, I couldn’t put it down. It's really fast and read! My rating is 4,5 just because it was more romance then rom-com but in the end it didn't really bothered me. And I recommend to grab you own copy asap!

I loved reading this book. I felt that it was very fun and very enjoyable to read. The characters were entertaining and I was rooting for the main couple. I felt that the plot was well laid out with a good flow and pattern to it, things didn't move too slowly, and things didn't seem rushed either.
I gave this book a 4.25 out of 5 stars because it was well-written and entertaining. I wasn't ready for the book to end because I wanted more of their relationship. I loved the ending because I felt like it was a surprise that I didn't see coming which was fun to see. I am usually good at guessing the ending of books, so it was nice not to know what was coming next.

This book feeds into my new found love for dark romantic comedies! I enjoyed the storytelling, however there were parts that I struggled with believing, but then tell myself I read to get away from the real world so carry on!! The spice was nice and I loved the consent aspect and how important it is. This book is not going to be for the faint of heart and you need to check the trigger warning. I would live to see more from these characters.

A huge thank you to Rose for allowing me the opportunity to be a member of her ARC team ❤️

Killer in the Sheets had me hooked from the first chapter. I loved both the female and male main characters. The story line was extremely easy to follow.

If you love a FMC who has daddy or even parent issues, Works in law enforcement, and finds her spicyness. Then you will love Avery.

If you love a MMC who is a killer in the sheets and in the woods but also finds that he can be a little mushy too, then by all means you will love Julian.

Rose did an amazing job with the start of this series and i cant wait for the next one.

I received an ARC of this book from the author. My thoughts are completely my own and given voluntarily.

Overall I had a good time reading this book. I always think books where the main character is a serial killer creates a fun dynamic. This wasn’t an exception to that. There was a decent balance of plot and spice within the book. At times the plot focused on the things that I didn’t find particularly interesting. I wished we got to see more of the serial killer side of him. It felt like that aspect was more told to us than really seen on page, at least for the first 3/4 of the book.
I liked getting to see her on the scenes doing some investigation. Though the thing that really bothered me, is they were obvious with how she was going to find out his secret. Then we didn’t even get the satisfaction of seeing her find it at the scene. Felt like a missed opportunity to me!
Overall their romance was good. I liked the chemistry between the two of them. How he was very respectful and willing to go at her place and find what she’s truly into. The FMC was a little annoying to read about at times because of her insecurities.
The book definitely has some dark moments so I would check the content warnings before diving in. I would read more from this author in the future. Even though this one had some issues I ultimately am glad that I picked it up!

My first read by Rose Chase did not disappoint! This book had everything I need to keep me entertained...an actual plot, a morally grey MMC, banter, an endearing FMC, lots of steam...sucked me in from the beginning and I loved every bit of it!

Who would've thought that a serial un-aliver and a CSI agent would be there perfect book couple? Rose Chase did and she nailed it!

I can't wait to read more from her because this book was AMAZING! The ending...OMG!

I absolutely recommend this book.

I received an ARC of this book a few weeks ago, and I held my review until she got some other reviews so it didn’t tank her book altogether. The premise was great, but the execution was awful. This book desperately needs an editor. The plot was loose, it was badly written, and the dialogue felt stilted and forced. There was a lot (A LOT) of spice. Usually, I’m a fan, but I don’t like it if it comes at the expense of the plot. Almost DNF’d, but kept reading because the PREMISE was good and I wanted to know how it ended.
