Mia Lane had a passion for photography and was obsessed with music—always finding the joy in the small moments. Now, she's just trying to keep her head above water.

Mia has been living life by going through the motions for the past couple of years. After losing someone close to her, her world was turned upside down and the things she loved the most no longer bring her the joy they once did. Her older brother, Mateo, has been trying to help her heal, but he can't stand watching her give up parts of herself any longer. After a night out where he once again is called to Mia’s rescue, Mateo decides he's had enough and hires Mia as his band’s photographer.

Eddie Ramirez, part-time bartender and drummer for a local rock band, knows how to put on a happy face—always making sure no one worries about him or the past that haunts him. He and the other band members of Cross My Heart were given strict instructions by their lead singer, Mateo Lane, to leave their new band photographer—his little sister—alone. But, when Eddie sees Mia, he's a goner.

Knowing he would never betray his best friend, Eddie opts to be a friend to Mia, but it doesn’t take long for him to realize that she sees through his fake smiles and understands him in ways that no one else does.

Finding solace in one another, a forbidden love blooms when neither one is looking, but it just so happens it could be exactly what each of them needs.

This book was good. Mia and Eddie they're special, he calls him sunshine and she calls him raindrop. I loved how Eddie wrote the song for her which was stuck in her head😭 this man is amazing.

but i didn't like how they went kissing each other in one second and then ignoring them for next few months. It kinda ruined the story .

5/5⭐

I'm so happy the author sent me an arc of 'Crash and Burn' because I freaking loved it and I'm so glad to have read it.

Crash and Burn follows Mia who's dealing with grief and is a passionate photographer, and Eddie Ramirez who's her brother's best friend and the drummer of their band, cross my heart. They're friendship starts off innocent but they quickly find themselves catching feelings for each other.

I loved how the author handled certain elements in the book and created a perfect balance between sweet, raw and beautiful.
Katy has a beautiful way of weaving words that's breathtaking. Each page had me hooked and captivated that I didn't want it to end. The book felt like a balm to my soul🥺

I loved Mia and Eddie, I resonated with each of them in so many ways. They're love was perfect and their journey as they navigate through so many hardships made me teary🙌🏻

And the found family??!!!! Please I loved it. The author did the trope well and their interactions with each other was everything💐💐

Overall, I loved this book so much and please add it to your tbr, I promise you won't regret it!!!!!

Katy Michele's Crash & Burn is a slow-burn romance that centers on drummer Eduardo Ramirez and band photographer Camila Lane.

Unless I start a book blind, I usually don't get confused when I start reading it. And even after reading the book's synopsis and content warnings, I still didn't understand what was going on with Mia. Sincerely, I had no idea if Mia had lost someone she loved so much or if someone had badly hurt her.

Given that I have a younger brother, I completely understand the protective brother thing, but Mateo was way too involved in Mia's life. I couldn't get comfortable with this.

Also there was the ongoing hot-cold relationship that going on between Eddie and Mia. They would be in a hot make out sesh one second and in the next they would go back to ignoring each other.

(SPOILERS) To make matters worse, I believe that both Nico's—Mia’s ex boyfriend—song and his passing were disregarded. I understand that he was supposed to be a side character, but given that he was Mia's entire personality, I had anticipated hearing more about him.

Having said that, Eddie was someone I adored and loved. He wrote a song just for Mia that was to die for, he practically memorized her entire coffee order, and he punched someone in the face for touching her.

On top of that, she called him "raindrop" and he called her "sunshine." These nicknames were just so perfect for each other.

Although I didn't actually have high hopes going into this book, after seeing the books tropes I had expected good moments between the main characters.

*Thank you to the author, Katy Michele, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

*beta review*

I had the honor of getting to read this in it's beta stages and all I can say is, yes. Immediately, yes.
Even before it went through it's final editing phase, it was so well written and powerful. The elements discussed in this story were so moving and touching. Which is not shocking considering how well Katy was able to discuss heavy topics in her first book, Giving Me Butterflies (which I highly suggest you read before C&B for my context).

Mia truly feels like a character that I see myself in. Not just because we ironically share similar features, but because her emotions and struggles are very near to my heart as well.
The dynamic of Eddie in her life is such a good plot and the slow burn will have you gripping the edge of your book/Kindle.

Again, it was a privilege to read this story before it will be shared with the world, because I know when it does get released, it's going to make a huge impact.

Congratulations Katy!

A much needed reprieve. Cute and cheesy, some of the larger/more serious topics didn't seem like they fit quite right because of that. I think as much as I love the brothers best friend trope, I hate the stress of hiding that comes with it haha.

Get ready for your next favorite brothers best friend, rockstar romance. With a girl drowning in her grief and desperate to find who she is again and her brother’s best friend who can’t help but to see the sadness in her eyes and want to make it go away. This forbidden romance is full of everything you could want, undeniable tension and heat, a found family of people who know each other to their core, a friendship that blossoms so deep, and two broken people who see the unbroken parts of each other.

Wow wow wow I devoured this story. Mai has been drowning in grief for the past 3 years and forgot how to live until her brother asks her to photograph his band before their upcoming tour. Mia has given up on things she’s loved years ago but when a green eyed man won’t leave her thoughts she decides it’s time to try. Eddie has always put on a face to make sure everyone is happy but when his best friends little sister shows up with sad eyes he can’t help but to feel an instant connection to her.

I love their friendship and the foundation they start before jumping into romance. They’re both hurt people who aren’t sure how to navigate their own lives and I love that their friendship stays the most important part between them. The tension is so thick between these two you can’t help but to devour page after page for when the “fuck it” moment happens. And when it does it’s hot.

We all know I’m sucker for a found family trope and the beauty in this one will stay one of my favorites. Every friend in this group has each others back through every decision. They make time for one another and their family is the foundation. I’m so excited for the other characters book in this series because the bread crumbs in this book has me dying!!!

Wow! I’m so blown away by this book!
All my rockstar girlfriend dreams came true reading this story- I’m so glad I got to live vicariously through Mia.

On a way more real note- the mental health representation is so so good. The way that Katy so deeply captured what the characters were feeling and experiencing was magical, lyrical, and a huge talent.
The character development was also so well done (and I’m a sucker for bigggg character development changes).

I also realized I haven’t read many romances with *sneaky* vibes, and suddenly I need more. I LOVED the balance of all aspects of the romance in this story- we got to see so much of the characters as individuals, lots of moments of forced proximity, crossing lines, and keeping secrets! VERY sweet and swoony, with some sprinkles of spice along the way.

Thank you Katy for the ARC! I love you and your writing so much and can’t wait for everything to come in the future 🫶

ahh this book was adorable. one of my favorite tropes is brothers best friend- so obviously I had to dive right into this one. The author does an amazing job of creating characters that are so easy to connect with and fall in love with their love. The tension building up between the main characters was somethin else 🥵 absolutely would recommend this one!! Thank you for the ARC, Katy!! This book started out good but after a while I got bored and didn’t read this book for months. The ending was good. I’m not the biggest fan of books where their partner has died. Overall the story wasn’t bad but was less than average. 2.5/5

🔥 Crash and Burn by Katy Michele 🔥

Memorable Moments/Ideas:
🩷 That song you can’t get out of your head
🔥 Protective older brother
🩷 Trauma healing
🔥 Stolen glances
🩷 “sunshine” & “raindrop”

HAPPY RELEASE DAY! (2/9)

The first book in this series has been long lingering in my brain since I read it last fall. It was dark, sexy, and filled with so much healing. This second book? Makes the first book look almost childlike, because this book ups the anty in all ways. It’s intense. It’s dark. It’s complex. It’s beautiful.

The internal emotional conflicts pervading this text are intense. Check trigger warnings before reading!! But it also makes for a very emotionally intimate and healing (to some extent) read. Mia and Eddie endured some intense moments in their lives, and how they navigate adulthood post-trauma is well captured. Life is complex and not all solutions are solvable in a few chapters.

Biggest takeaways from this story:
✨ Family is who you define it to be
🩷 Grief is like a backpack - some days it’s light, some days it’s crushing
✨ Not all things that are broken are broken forever
🩷 Music is a love language

Recommend: Yes.
Content Warnings: Several.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

💕Special thank you to Katy for including me as an ARC reader for this book! It was a pleasure. 💕

I will not be leaving a star rating for this book because I did not finish it.

I'm so grateful to Katy Michele for sending me an arc of her second book, while I did start this book with every intention to finish, rate and review it - I'll admit that I was not in the right headspace mentally to continue reading this book. I appreciate that Katy's characters are always honest as they share past traumas and healing journeys. For both books in this series, the mmc's continue to emotionally support the fmc's in such a positive way that helps them through their traumas.

It's important to remember that everyone's fighting their own battles, I happened to be fighting my own while I was reading this, and it simply became too much for me to handle at the time.

As always, I'm looking forward to seeing what Katy will write next and how she grows as a writer! Thank you for the opportunity to read Crash & Burn!

Thank you so so so much Katy for the eARC!

Oh. My. Word. This book. I- I don't even know what to say. I was speechless when I finished it, a tear rolled down my cheek after I read the last word. I was so convinced this would be a 4 or 4.5-star book. Absolutely convinced. But then, once I finished it and really thought about I was like "What the heck, why am I scared to give 5-stars all of a sudden?!" so here we are, 5-stars lol. AND, on top of that, I don't think this will be leaving my head for a WHILE, omg. Cannot stop thinking about it. I absolutely devoured this book. Not only one of my fav reads of 2024, but one of my fav reads ever. Giving it 6-stars.

My girl Mia Lane. Wowie. I felt her and her hurt BAD. She was a super relatable character to me in many ways and as much as that sucks it's also reassuring that I'm not the only one feeling this way and going through these kinds of hurts. She's so cool and so tough and, ugh. I just want to be like her when I grow up. Where can I find myself a rockstar bf???

Eddie Ramirez...oof, I am down BAD for him. He. Is. Everything. The sweetest boy with the sweetest heart and all I wanted was to help him get through it all. SO glad that he let Mia be there for him and WITH him every step of the way, that he finally was able to see himself and his worth the way others do. Ah! My heart <3 for real, where can I find myself a rockstar bf???

The storyline was *chef's kiss*. I am a SUCKER for brother's-best-friend heheheh (but not in real life, my brother's two years younger than me and it's just weird thinking about that). And also apparently am a sucker for a fun lil rockstar romance (for real tho)??? This was all around so good and so fun. I also really, really loved that the book was dual POV, and it felt really balanced between perspectives! It didn't feel like it was more of one person's story versus the other, it was a really good mix of both!

I loved the dynamics of every character and relationship, they were all so well thought out and developed. I have not read Giving Me Butterflies (Lenny's Bartenders 1), but was able to understand pretty quickly everything going on and who everyone was, so that was nice! Will defo be reading GMB sometime soon (eventually, idk I've got a really long TBR...). ANYWAYS, without having read the first book in the series (each can be read as a standalone but it's recommended to read each of them in order) I feel like it's not necessary (duh)! But defo would've helped me with already just knowing people and what's going on hahah

Oh, and don't even get me started on the banter. I loved it. The fun little quips and convos between Mia and Eddie were everything and made my heart skip a beat every time. Sweet little Sunshine and Raindrop, forever holding a piece of my heart. Katy absolutely hit the nail on the head with this one and I could not recommend this book more, so so so stoked for what else she has to offer!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my wow… give me a second while I wrap my brain around one of the best, emotional, swoon worthy, romance books I’ve ever read! Katy Michele has blown me away with this amazing story!! I mean it truly has everything! Forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine, amazing characters, found family, and the perfect romance!

In Crash and Burn we meet Mia Lane, our FMC who is living her life by just going through the motions as she struggles with a tragedy that has fallen on her life, but when her brothers overprotective nature forces her into finding things to live for again, Mia decides that maybe just maybe she can take control of her own life again, and maybe she’s not as broken as she thought. And who better to help her rediscover her the joys she’s been missing out on than her brother’s best friend Eddie… the smoking hot drummer with sad eyes. Through an emotional story of ups and downs, and trying to mend what’s been broken while regaining the things that bring you joy Mia and Eddie may just find a love worth fighting for!

I absolutely loved everything about this story, the emotional ups and downs were so beautifully written that I simply couldn’t put this book down. And while the plot was amazing, the characters really stole the show! Mia, our MFC, is sunshine incarnate, it may take her a second to get there because her life has been a series of get up, do what you must, go to sleep, relive the trauma and do it all over again, but once she begins to rediscover her passions… her character blossoms and I simply loved Mia and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen in her life next! Then you had, Eddie, our MMC and I mean who doesn’t love a smoking hot drummer with green eyes. He was our grumpy, but loving raindrop to Mia’s sunshine. And while he was struggling with his own brokenness, he never let that stop him from being protective of Mia and her newfound happiness. Watching him grow along with Mia was so beautifully written and I found myself devouring his chapters just waiting to see what swoon-worthy moment would happen next!

Overall, this book is simply amazing! It is a beautifully gut-wrenching emotional roller coaster of a story that will have you crying one second and swooning the next. So if you’re looking for a story filled with a love worth fighting for, found family that will never let you down, forced proximity, a sunshiny photographer and a sad eyed drummer that will have you hooked until the very last page, then you need to pick up this book ASAP!

I had the absolute honor of reading this book pre-release and not a single day has passed where I have not thought about it.

Katy has an incredible talent for creating relatable characters with beautifully tragic backstories that are reminiscent of big-name, career authors.

The story starts off with intensity to draw you in and that level of attention does not cease for the entirety of the story. I wish there were more stories about Eddie and Mia because these characters are just that enjoyable. The story progressed at a great speed without rushing anything. Katy dances between unpacking trauma, progressing the story, with the perfect amount of spice in such an effortless way.

While this book is a part of a standalone series, I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series, “Giving Me Butterflies”, before reading this one. While it definitely is standalone, you feel much more connected to the non-main characters’ backstories and encapsulated by the world Katy has built when you have already read GMB.

I cannot recommend this book enough. If you like dual POV romances, found family, rockstar romances, and forced proximity, this book is definitely for you.

❤️‍🔥 Arc Reader ❤️‍🔥 -> ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First I want to thank Katy for choosing me to be an ARC reader!

This book was everything I wanted and more! I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I finished it, and I don’t think I will stop thinking about it for a long time!

This was definitely an emotional roller coaster of a read, but definitely in a good way! It had me in tears, had me smiling, while also had me laughing! I couldn’t put the book down!

I absolutely loved Mia and Eddie’s love story! The nicknames they had for each other melted my heart! They were truly perfect for each other! And I was constantly rooting for them throughout the whole book! I never once stopped and thought to myself well maybe they shouldn’t end up together.

I will forever recommend Crash & Burn by Katy Michele! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next! ❤️‍🔥

Congratulations Katy!

Okay it was cute and I loved the premise and the characters, loved the depth of the traumas they were walking through. But I gotta be honest, “can’t have my best friends little sister bc she said so” is one of my least favorite tropes 🫠 I feel like these characters had enough going on without the whole keeping things secret from Mateo.

The writing felt a liiittle clunky - it was a little too swoony declaration of love vibes, and also the phrasing sometimes made me remember I was reading a book and kind of interrupted the story.

But still loved the characters and the growth!! And pursuing dreams!!

Wowowowowow this was an emotional read, filled with grief, past trauma, and characters working through their feelings and anxiety. But even though there were some heavy topics, it was such a beautiful story filled with so much hope and love and found family and two people who just get each other on such an emotionally deep level that you can’t help but cheer for them and their happiness because of every thing they went through. I absolutely loved this sequel to Giving Me Butterflies and cannot wait for next book!!

I wanted to love it

Honestly I probably would have gone 3.5 stars but can't make myself round up to 4. It was cute enough plot wise, but felt super drawn out. There could have been better drama throughout the last 200 pages instead of just the last 40ish.
Cute story but honestly just not my favorite or most memorable as a stand-out.

❤️‍🔥🎶read if you like:
- brother's best friend
- rockstar romance
- forced proximity
- mental health rep
- 'good girl'
- open door

After losing someone close to her heart, Mia is struggling. Unable to watch her lose her shine any longer, her brother convinces her to become his band's photographer, making it clear to everyone in the band that she is off-limits. However, as time passes, Mia strikes up a friendship with Eddie, the drummer, which could potentially develop into something more.

After reading 'Giving me Butterflies,' i knew what i was getting myself into, i just didn't expect to become so invested in these characters. My heart.

"𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦" "𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱"

Mia and Eddie emerged as both strong and relatable characters as we followed them through the highs and lows, with Mia rediscovering herself and Eddie seeking help in therapy. I felt an overwhelming urge to give them the biggest hug and reassure them that everything would be alright and that there's no need to hide their pain behind smiles.

Their journey of healing was not easy, but with each passing day, they took small steps towards overcoming past traumas and the darkness that once consumed them, ultimately finding joy in life once more.

"𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦."

Through moments of vulnerability and strength, they found solace in each other's company.

I felt like Mia's brother’s overprotectiveness was overwhelming at times, but I could understand that it was coming from a deep desire to help her. Sometimes, offering help can be just as challenging as accepting it.

But don't be fooled by this review; this book wasn't just filled with emotional moments. There were sparks of spice and intimacy; I was literally melting off my seat. All that tension and chemistry. It was beautiful and rewarding to see them finally evolve from friends to lovers.

Katy creates stories that are filled with love, hope, intimacy, warmth, grief, and healing.

I would like to thank Katy Michele for letting me be one of her arc readers. ❤️

(An ebook advanced reader copy of Crash & Burn was provided to me by the author and I am an uncompensated reviewer.)

SUMMARY:
Crash & Burn by Katy Michele is a romantic comedy novel featuring a female main character, Mia, and a male main character, Eddie. It deals with coming to terms with trauma produced by both grief and abuse, contains “open door” spicy scenes, and features a happily ever after (HEA) ending. It is the stand-alone sequel to the author’s Giving Me Butterflies and is the second novel in her LENNY’S BARTENDERS series.

One of the side characters from Giving Me Butterflies, Eddie, is the MMC in Crash & Burn. The main and minor characters from Giving Me Butterflies are side characters in Crash & Burn.

Mia’s life is a mess due to the death of her boyfriend years earlier and right as she’s forced to make a change for the better by her overprotective older brother, she strikes up a friendship with Eddie. Eddie is her brother’s best friend and they’re both members of a band right on the cusp of success. Mia’s considered “off-limits” from dating members of the band despite being forced into their proximity as their social media manager by her brother. As Mia discovers new friends and begins her journey toward healing, her friendship with Eddie - who’s dealing with abuse-induced trauma - deepens into something more; something forbidden.

TROPES:
double reverse grumpy-sunshine (outwardly grumpy, inwardly sunshine FMC; outwardly sunshine, inwardly grumpy MMC); friends-to-lovers; forbidden romance; super slow burn; lots of mental health rep; brother's best friend, rockstar romance, found family, forced proximity, "good girl"/praise kink

TRIGGERS:
suicide (off-page), domestic abuse (off-page), grief (on-page), anxiety (on-page), school shootings (off-page), mental health (on- & off-page), and sexual content (on-page)

REVIEW:
I have to start by saying that Crash & Burn is presented in first-person dual POV. This lends itself to a lot of internal monologuing by the POV characters. It took me some time to accept that the monologuing was the point. This is a story about two characters who live constantly on the edge of losing their mental composure while battling their trauma demons and the healing they both have to take on in order to become the best versions of themselves. Once I understood that, I was all in. More smoky/steamy than spicy, Crash & Burn smolders with tension and heart as it burns to its inevitable, well-earned end.

CONCLUSION:
Overall - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Spice - 🌶️🌶️ (2/5)

It took me about seven hours overall to read Crash & Burn. Given its content and format, this novel may not be for everyone, but if you buy into what the story’s selling and just roll with it you’ll find an often funny, always sweet, friends-to-lovers romance that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy by the end.

Eddie my love!💓✨

So you have Mia, who just punched a dude for getting handsy with her at a bar, she’s dealing with a lot and you have her brother being kind of a pain about the whole thing and to make matters worse he brought along his very attractive best friend Eddie with him. Eddie also has a lot going on even though it doesn't seem like it and the last thing he needs is to find his best friend's little sister attractive.

I didn't have time to read book one before starting this one but it's now my next read and in my cart! I can't wait to read it.
But here's the thing about this one right here! It was such a good read, one where you can't stop reading. I loved how it handled the difficult topics. Sometimes romance books dealing with grief end up reading like women's fiction but this one walked that lines perfectly. I'll say i cried multiple times. ✨

Mia was such a strong character, her development seemed so real and I was happy to see her change and heal. 💗

Eddie, I'll say that everything I saw prior to me reading this told me i was gonna love him. I mean he's in a band... Also the fact that he's Latino seemed super cool to me.
He made the Top Tier Husbandoo list. 🥰
Overall this was so much fun to read!

Mia and Eddie fit perfectly! ❤️
"Sunshine" ☀️
"Raindrop"🌧

I love found family, and I love this little friend group so much!😩💜 I can't wait for more I'll hoping that there is more!

I absolutely adored this. It's definitely a book that will stay with me.

Thank-you to the author or the chance to review this arc. ✨

When I started reading this book, I didn't expect it to be so emotional - filled with not only love, affection, and hope, but also containing heavy emotions like grief, trauma, anxiety and panic. Katy captured all these feelings so intensely that I experienced them along with the characters. I smiled, I laughed, felt hurt and even shed tears while reading this book. It's an incredible story and I'm honoured to have read it pre-release.

Both Eddie and Mia are beautiful souls and deserve all the love. They both had a hurtful past and it was heartbreaking to see them carry all the pain and dealing with their struggles while plastering a smile on their faces. I was so glad that they found their safe space to confide in each other. The way they took care of and supported each other through everything was really heart warming. These two showed significant growth in healing from their traumas and learning to accept help from others. I totally admired Mia for rediscovering herself and Eddie for seeking therapy to heal and get better. The mental health rep was done so well here.

Their relationship also developed beautifully from friends to lovers. The chemistry between them is outstanding, and the tension keeps you on edge the whole time. The spice was also great. Their conversations, flirty banters, their nicknames (raindrop and sunshine), were all so endearing. I loved how Mia showed Eddie that he doesn't need fixing and how Eddie helped Mia find her love for music back. He even wrote a song for the tune she always hummed. It was such a sweet moment, I was completely swooned by it. These two make a perfect pair and I adore them so much.

I enjoyed reading about all the side characters as well. I loved how Katy provided a good insight into their stories. This little found family is wonderful and I absolutely adore all of them. I would love to read Luke and Anne's story in Katy's next book. Although there were one or two things that, I feel, could have been written better, I had a good time reading this story and would definitely recommend you to read it.

Thank you Katy for providing me with the ARC of this book

Did you ever start a new book and just knew it's a book you gonna love? That it will be a real good read ? Cause this book was it for me .
I literally fell for it from the first page. And as I posted on my story few days back, at 60% in, I knew this is my first favourite book in 2024. It gave me misty eyes for god's sake👌

This was such a heartfelt slow burn romance , their relationship took time to build from practically strangers to friends to pining to lovers. Mental health rep was at its finest. With both of them dealing with past demons ( check triggers) they took their sweet time investing in JUST friends.. Friends with scorching chemistry and intense teasing.

The storyline reflected so much of real life. Struggling individuals taking their time getting to know eachother and building a solid relationship and going against all odds to make it work ❤️👌🥺

When the time came to give it all to the feels. Damn... Just damn. It was emotional and heart squishy. Just epic 🥺

And the spice. Uuugh. I was melting. It was so intense and intimate and so much emotions going on!! 🔥 Couldn't get enough of their little moments , the green room scene, the car scene, the couch scene... Just so much dirty talk going around with so much love.

It was the type of slow burn with healing , mending, processing and giving life another chance under new perspectives kinda rom ❤️‍🩹

I recommend this book for infinity and beyond. It has my scorching five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒐𝒏, 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒏𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓."

Wow! What an emotional ride with Eddie and Mia. The "forbidden romance" trope was sky-high with this book; with Mia being the little sister of Eddie's best friend. The love that grows between the two of them was phenomenal to read, especially when they both have a better understanding about the trauma they each went through. Something about trauma-bonding love, man...

As someone who frequently deals with depression, anxiety, grief & panic attacks - this book hit ALL of the marks with those. I felt like I was really seeing through Mia's eyes in a lot of her thoughts/situations. So many times I've let grief overpower me and get in the way of people, but I just have to remember that I can both grieve that loss AND move on.

Eddie was such an incredible guy for Mia, and in general. His protectiveness and love towards not only his mom and sisters, but to Mia, was lovely to read. Some of the stuff he said had ME swooning and highlighting like crazy.

All-in-all, this is (so far) my favorite book of the series!

Also, I HIGHLY recommend reading this one AFTER book 1 (Drew + Emmett). While there are some things that could make sense without it, a lot of what's in here is both leading up to the end of Giving Me Butterflies and right after. I don't think a lot of what happens would make sense if I didn't read Book 1.

thank you katy michele for this ARC of crash & burn!!

in no way was i prepared to be CRYING MY EYES OUT at 20% into this read? katy, what have you done to me?? 😭

these characters were ✨SO REAL✨. wow. the trauma and the pain in eddie and mia’s backstories were truly heartbreaking. i wasn’t expecting to feel so emotionally invested in the well-being of mia and eddie, but i love them🥺

i wanted to ✨SQUEEZE✨ mia the entire time. to follow along in mia’s brain while she spiraled was so personal and vulnerable - i loved it. i didn’t know that a rockstar romance would make me feel all the feelings, but i’m here for it.

i lovvvve a protective mmc and that’s exactly what eddie is!! i especially loved that katy michele showed us exactly WHY eddie is the lovable, protective man he is. ugh. he’s the sweetest baby. i loved him so much.

truly, this was ✨SUCH AN UNEXPECTED✨ read. i went in thinking it’d be a fun, fluffy brother’s best friend romance, but it was SO much more😭

i’m absolutely blown away by your writing, katy michele!!
