Hello, I’m Samantha Butterfield, an indie author based in the Bay Area. I’ve been passionate about writing ever since I was a child, filling notebooks with stores and poems.
I write both poetry and romance stories, so you’ll find more information about my poetry collections where I share deeply personal poems about my struggle with mental health, as well as a peak of my first full length novel, A Dark Melody, a rockstar romance.
Writing has always been my way of expressing myself and escape from the world. I wanted to be an author since I found out what that word meant, and here I am, now thirty something, putting my work out there for the world to see.
When I’m not writing or dreaming up my next story I’m hanging out with my husband and cat Hemingway, either reading or listening to music.
I devoured it in one day. It really captured my attention from start to end, especially with everything going on between Abbey and Wesley.
Triggers: the book does cover eating disorders, alcoholism, r**e, and drug use. If these triggers bother you, please don’t read it.
I will say, Samantha captured those triggers authentically and in such a raw way. Everything from Abbey’s battles with her eating disorder, to her drug problems and alcohol abuse wasn’t sugar coated at all. I felt her struggle and really resonated with her self-esteem issues surrounding her eating disorder. Abbey is a literal rockstar, but battling so many dark triggers behind the scene on her way to feeling “okay” with herself. My heart broke for her and all that she had to endure through her life and her time as a superstar.
Wesley was a SAINT. He was so attentive, trying to help Abbey overcome all her struggles, while wanting to love her, even when she pushed him away and made stupid decisions. He protected her through a lot. I absolutely loved Wes and all that he has done for Abbey. And how much they’ve grown together.
Sue came off as a hard-a**, but she meant well. She gave me protective mama bear energy through the entire story, really trying to protect Abbey and have her back through the ups and downs. Easily one of my favorite characters in a book EVER.
The spice was SPICY! I give it a 🌶️🌶️🌶️! Wesley knows what he’s doing, and he does it WELL!
This book was written from a truly authentic view, not sugarcoating anything. Will have your heart breaking, have you wanting to throw your Kindle at some points, and have you at the edge of your seat at the same time! Samantha, you did INCREDIBLE with this story! If you made it this far with my review, read the book! P.S it ends in a HEA! ❤️📚
I consumed this book, there wasn’t a dull moment. I haven’t read many rockstar books but this one was a nice read! Can’t wait to read more from this author ❤️
