The dreadful moment Tia’s been waiting for has finally come―Jieun has arrived! However, she soon realizes there’s something different about Jieun as politics pit the two crown princess candidates against each other in various tests of competence. In order to protect herself and the people dear to her, Tia has chosen to become the head of house Monique...but as the noblist faction makes their move with an openly hostile Jieun as their new pawn, Tia learns once again that within the palace, there is no room for mercy.

Best one! Still some mystery of who was poisoning Tia…could it be the same person who poisoned her mother?!
Looking forward to last volume….not quite ready for it to be over but I’m ready to see how all the storylines are wrapped up

I want to comment for the ending, but every single person has different perspective.
I will say this is not good for a person who has been fighting "the red flag" things in their life, but this is good for someone who needs drama or another perspective in their life.
I just want to say:
You guys are doing best in your life in your own way. Don'ts ever you degrading yourself because of something like feeling. Still, remember a moral to respect other perspectives are important.
Either you accept or not the other suggestions, you need to respect them.

Aristia is given a year's reprieve from the crown princess selection, and in the meantime, the emperor dies and Ruveliss takes the throne. Arisitia breaks off her engagement with him before the selection. She's poisoned--by Jieun and her faction, we're given to believe--and once she recovers she's told she's barren. Carsein makes moves in her direction now and then, and Ruveliss tells her how he met Arisita's mother when he was a child, and grew to envy Aristia and her happy family. But now he's changed due to her influence, and is evidently falling in love.

In the meantime, the Noblist and Imperial factions are duking it out in the realm of finance. Throughout the story, I've been lost as to why this is important. Maybe I was told at some point, but everything surrounding this aspect of the story is so boring, I can't be bothered to go back to previous volumes and find out. The priest, the root of Viva, says that both Jieun and Aristia are chosen ones, so as far as I can tell, Ruveliss can choose whichever girl he wants. Or is it that whichever team gains the greatest financial advantage will gain the Crown Princess spot by default, regardless of what Ruveliss might want?

I find the idea distasteful, since it preferences the actions of aristocrats over the common people. Those common people aren't ever mentioned, and are rarely seen except as maids in aristocratic households. I dunno, I don't care for the idea that all that's important in politics is for rich people to manipulate the economy to gain the king's attention. I'm sure it's happened a good number of times in human history, but at the present moment that's about the last thing I want to read about.

Jieun could have been an exception to that, an ordinary Earth girl drawn into the machinations of nobles because of her status as a Chosen One. But we never see her point of view. She claims to have gone through a time loop just like Aristia did, but later. This time around, she's chosen to become a villainess who cements her own position by undermining Aristia's.

The storytelling is getting jumpy as we head toward the endgame. I'm not sure if this was based on a web novel, or if it's original to manhwa. The cover says "Original Story by Yuna," which to me indicates the former. In any case, the plot points above felt more like a summary than a smooth narrative as I read through this volume. I wonder if the powers that be, wherever this was serialized, told INA to get a move on and wrap things up. As I've noted a few times, especially when it comes to Arisitia's cabal, there are too many characters, not enough characterization. We get a decent idea of what makes Arisitia tick, but a lot of the other characters are ciphers.

The character art is still quite good, and there are a handful of panels that have a nice shoujo manga-like impact. The coloring is gorgeous, and I think it was a good idea for this to be printed in color, despite the accompanying $20 price point. Unfortunately, though, the shortcuts in the art are becoming even more evident. I don't think it's terrible to use art assets, necessarily, but it's so obvious that many, or even most of the background elements, as well as a lot of the ornamentation on characters' outfits, were copy-and-pasted in. A little effort toward making them look a smidgen more bespoke (by tracing over them, for example) would have made them look less jarring in their hand-drawn contexts. When you have these very generic palaces, fountains, courtyards, etc. in the background, I have the same impression I often do with YA fantasy, of a cloud cuckooland kingdom that could be anywhere, or in any era that doesn't have gunpowder or internal combustion yet.

I'm anxious to finish this up and see how it ends, and am hoping that the conclusion reads more smoothly than this penultimate book.

Well, Tia finally got her wish as far as annulling the marriage contract, but it seems she and the prince are even more drawn to each other than in the past. Some new answers as well with her past life miscarriage and illness with the poison, though it's still questionable exactly who all was behind it. Just what was Jiuen hinting at that might have taken place after Tia returned to the past, and just how did Jiuen herself return to the past as well? She made it sound almost as if she had chosen to return, which would be rather curious all in all. Meanwhile, it appears no one knows where Allen is exactly, and Carsien is perhaps the most loyal of all, though the prince is giving him a run for his money in his actions towards Tia so far in this life. It seems a lot may have changed rather significantly with the two of them understanding each other's feelings more this time around and the prince not growing to resent Tia continually. Even the temple seems to be on Tia's side as much as they are able to be, or at least the one priest who keeps visiting the palace is, which sounds like was the difference between her surviving this most recent poisoning attack or dying around the same time as the emperor.

Tia struggles with the appearance of Jieun. And not jus the struggles she understands, but also the fact that Jieun also remembers their past together and appears to want to outmaneuver Tia at any cost! We're in the end game now and Tia is going to need all the help she can get to free herself from the bonds of fate. You know, as well as surving poison and the increase in political shenanigans that are getting even more dangerous. Tia is going to need Allen and his intellect! If only anyone could find him.

In this volume we also finally find out more about Tia's mom and why she is so important to the story! Her death impacted a lot of the characters including the crown prince as well as some of the more magical members of the church. And a lot of people seem to be helping Tia because they owe her mother favors.

10/24 It felt like a lot happened over a long period of time but we only got the highlights, and things have gotten so complicated politically that reading the volumes so far apart is making it difficult to fully follow. Will try another volume, but may need to go back and re-read 1-8 to review first.

Given that there’s only one more volume after this book is making me freak out. At the edge of my seat to see how the ending is going to go. Albeit, glad to see the FMC making moves to close in on the enemies. However, some scenes do feel like filler episodes, so looking forward to the next volume to conclude everything satisfactorily.

Wow.

Read more graphic novel reviews at The Graphic Library.

As much as Tia has steeled herself against loving any of the many boys who have vied for her heart, it pains me to see her walled off from even Ross, who is trying so hard to protect her and be there for her every step of the way. The twists in this volume regarding Jieun and Tia’s mother were satisfying payoffs to have after waiting so long. INA is finally starting to see some of the hard work of tying together storylines that have been laid down throughout the series, and I'm eagerly anticipating the culmination of everything coming together at the end.

Extremely dense plot developments

A whole year of time passes in this volume. Lots of political intrigue developed and deep secrets revealed. Youthful passion and sinister malice...

Really just a ton of everything!

Btw, I love the full color too!

Read the whole thing in one sitting. I feel like Jieun knows something important that she's not telling and I almost want Aristia to fall for the Prince again. He seems to be falling for her pretty hard in this one.
