A Simple Project Plan For ProjectLibre

Rate this book
This book presents a simple project plan for use with ProjectLibre, the open source project task tracking application. From a blank slate, the required tasks, team resources and linkages are added. In the end, a realistic, but simple, project plan is constructed. Beginners to the ProjectLibre tool, or to project management in general, will find that the simple project plan constructed during the book is easy to understand. Readers are welcome to follow along with their own ProjectLibre installation, performing the illustrated steps in sequence. This amounts to hands on training. After the simple project plan is constructed, users can choose to start fresh with their own project or they can modify the simple plan to fit their needs. The simple plan has several task requirements, with sub-tasks. A team of 3 is shown in the plan. Task duration is shown. Modifications of estimated duration are shown with the effect that they cause on both project schedule and critical path.An in-depth analysis of critical path is not part of the book but the concept is presented. The text provides information describing an Internet location that contains an electronic version of the simple project plan.ProjectLibre has evolved from the source code of the earlier application OpenProj. A new community was established in 2012 to manage ProjectLibre. A number of updates were incorporated into the first releases of ProjectLibre. Last updated in late January, 2013, this product is the dynamic open source project management application that can be used for any purpose. No additional components are required to run this application.
