When Sloan Reynolds beats criminal charges, Melissa Jones stops believing her wealthy, connected ex-husband will ever pay for what he did to her. Derek Alexander can't accept that--a tiny silver scar won't let him forget, and as a leader in the security business, he is determined to get the man who hurt his fiancée.

Then the body of a former call girl turns up dead. She's the breakthrough Derek's been waiting for, the link to Sloan's sordid past he needs. But as usual, legal paths to justice have been covered up or erased.

Derek's ready to do whatever it takes to protect his family when his partner Patrick Knight devises a plan that changes everything. It's a plan that involves coloring outside the lines and taking a walk on the dark side. It goes against everything on which Alexander-Knight, LLC, is based. And it's a plan Derek's more than ready to follow.

Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18. (M/F, dual POV)

Holy Hell!
This was awesome!
This man is like water in the desert to me, and it isn't hard to see the feeling is mutual.
Let me start off by saying that this book should be read after One to Hold which is the first book in the series and sets up the story of Derek, Melissa, and their conflict with Sloan Reynolds.

Here's the good news: As of the date of this post, One to Hold is FREE on Amazon, so you can catch up on these awesome characters without spending a penny!

This book also layers in the characters of One to Keep, which you could technically skip because it's a stand-alone, but boo on that! Having all the nuances of everyone's individual stories will make this a much more enjoyable read for you... And besides, Patrick Knight is a dreamboat :)

Here's the set up:
Derek Alexander & Melissa Jones are madly in love.
Melissa's Ex-Husband, Sloan Reynolds is a violent, philandering, douchebag protected by his enormous bank account and political influence. He has attacked Melissa more than once, and Derek has seen enough scumbags like Sloan Reynolds to know that he'll try it again.

Derek Alexander

Derek and his partner Patrick have a successful security business, which makes it even harder for him to accept the fact that Sloan Reynolds is a free man.

Derek has been running his business in Princeton, New Jersey while Melissa lives and works eight hours away in Wilmington, North Carolina.

He doesn't see her as often as he wants,
He can't protect what is so far away,
There's a calculated psychopath after his fiancé.
His pregnant fiancé...

Melissa Jones

Melissa is content to leave the past in the past. She carries the scars - mental and physical - from her former life, but she sees them as proof of her strength.

She knows that Derek wants to protect her from Sloane. He sees Melissa's ex-husband as a ticking time bomb. Melissa only wants to move on with her life.

Knowing that she can't stop Derek from going after Sloane, Melissa enlists the help of Patrick Knight. Her instructions are clear: Keep Derek out of trouble.

Patrick Knight

Patrick injected a dose of much-appreciated humor to this story. He was serious when the time called for it, but he spent a lot of time making sure nobody went crazy. Patrick is such a fun, sweet character. I really enjoyed him in One to Keep, and I loved him even more after this book.

Patrick devises a risky plan - with the help of a former adversary - they will set Sloane up and gather enough proof to put him away for good.

Derek and Patrick just have to keep Sloan from killing the bait.
And Patrick has to keep Derek as hands-off as possible.

They're risking their respectable business by bending the rules...
But if Derek gets his hands on the man who once beat his wife...
Well, you can imagine the kind of pain Derek would love to inflict on Sloane...
The kind that could land a man in prison.

The suspense and drama of staking Sloane and catching him in the act (without allowing him to actually victimize another woman) it was a fabulous platform for this book. These two men are experienced ex-military with a set of skills perfect for taking down a character that I'd personally like to kick in the balls.

It was a wild ride and a delicate balance.
Tia Louise really delivered with this book, and I'm excited to continue the series!

★★★★ 4 Stars!

One to Protect is the third part of the One to Hold-series by Tia Louise and a continuation of Derek and Melissa's story. It had everything I've come to expect from this author; romance, suspense, humor, a bit of action and lots of sexy times! Once I started reading it, I could not put it down and I ended up finishing it in only a couple of hours. If you've liked the previous books in this series, this one's an absolute must read!

The story picks up a few months are the end of the first book. Melissa is pregnant with their baby and things seemed to have settled down with her ex-husband Sloan. Or at least, that's what she assumes. Derek and Melissa's relationship is still as strong as ever but Derek seems more and more distracted lately and Melissa fears that means her ex might be lurking around again to cause trouble. Compared to the first book, Melissa has become much more self-assured, independent and at peace with herself and her relationship and I liked the fact that's she's grown so much thanks to the security Derek and her new life provided her.

Derek is the perfect example of the protective alpha male with a tough guy exterior but a sweet, caring heart. He's fierce, loyal to a fault and willing to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe. He's the ultimate protecter and when he finds out Sloan is still a threat to Mel's safety, he sets out to plan his demise, together with his partner Patrick. But what if the legal ways of getting rid of Sloan aren't enough? How far is he willing to go to make sure Melissa and their baby are forever safe?

With a few twists and turns, this story managed to keep me on the edge of my seat right until the very end. It was so much fun catching up with Derek and Melissa, as well as the fantastic side characters Patrick and Elaine. I would highly recommend this series for anyone looking for a thrilling, sexy read with not too much angst and no cliffhanger. Already looking forward to the next part in this series!

“It’s pure…and real…and gorgeous…and fucking hot.”

If you were a born protector what would you do if the one you love, the reason you live, is in trouble??? You would do whatever it takes to keep her safe, right!?! Well Derek finds himself trapped in a situation where playing by the rules of law failed him and now he has to find a way to keep Melissa safe. He can’t imagine loosing another loved one, especially since this time he has the power to save her.
She’s home and comfort and warmth and all the good things I thought I’d never have again. She’s my future and my desire and my love.

Melissa is pregnant, horny and frustrated, she knows Derek is keeping something from her and with his silence, insecurities settle in...little does she know her ex-husband, Sloan, is causing more trouble than he is worth. Refusing to live in fear, she continues on trusting Derek to keep her safe...
“I’m going to fix it. You’ll never be afraid again.”

She may refuse to give Sloan the power of fear over her but she can’t help but worry about Derek, because while he is keeping her safe, who is watching out for him. Derek’s best friend and partner, Patrick is just the man, but when push comes to shove can he really stop the big man from doing anything that could take him away from Melissa???

One to Protect is an full of action, in and out of the bedroom...deliciously sexy and protective Derek continues to up his swoon factor. Melissa is a very lucky lady. This is another wonderful addition to the One to Hold series, we finally get the closure we need on one of the chapters in their life and can only hope for the best. There are some things that are left open making me think, what is to come next. I can't wait for the next one; whether is it more of Derek and Melissa, Patrick and Lainey, Kenny’s or Toni’s story I can't complain. It’s crazy how in these books, which are not that long, I was able to form a bond not only with the main characters but with the secondary ones as well, making me want more and more of them; only time will tell whose next!

3.5 More of Characters We Dig Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
As a newbie to Tia Louise, I was so thrilled to find another book with the characters I met in her first one, One to Hold. We get more of the couple who are so taken with each other, they really cannot keep their hands off any part of their bodies. It could get too much yet with all the back story and history, it is kinda cute and ok...

She is pregnant, he is thrilled and they have one huge obstacle... her ex.
He is a sicko; wealthy, able to fight the system and out there doing very bad things to the women he uses. He is still obsessed with our gal and her man is not going to let ANYTHING happen to her.

There was intrigue, a trap, and more. The family of characters was in full force and their books are out there just waiting to be read. This series has personality, heart and lots and lots of heat... to me, a winning combination.

Well, Since writing this review, Ms. Louise has kept me busy. Here is the entire series and it is so worth your time, enjoy!

In ONE TO PROTECT, and Derek faces his biggest challenge yet. Read the First Teaser Excerpt here: http://on.fb.me/1ixtNZm

I'm SO excited to dive back into Derek & Melissa's story. Those guys are so smokin hot, and Derek is (*shivers*) determined to get Sloan.

Patrick will play a role in the story--some of his "baggage" actually proves very useful in setting a trap.

I'm writing this in dual POV (Derek & Melissa), but I might experiment with having an epilogue in Patrick's--tentative.

The timeline for this one is in the period between "The End" and the Epilogue of ONE TO KEEP.

(Readers of ONE TO KEEP--pay attention to Melissa & Elaine's conversation on the beach in the Epilogue. *wink*)

4.5 Perfect Protection Stars!

I am an automatic one click for Ms. Tia Louise! While I enjoyed Melissa and Derek in One to Hold, I was just wanting a bit more from them...well, thank you Tia for giving me what I thought was amiss in their first book!

This book picks up with Mel and Derek together, very much in love and looking forward to a future as a family! It picks up with the same amazing heat and scorching scenes within the first few pages...

nothing better than reading a scene where no words need to be said to convey how much two characters want and need each other!!!

Derek and Melissa are still living apart, making the best of the situation, but when someone from Mel's past ends up dead Derek goes on the hunt to keep Mel safe at all costs! Derek is a man consumed with two things, loving Melissa and eliminating any threat to her. As he and his partner Patrick go on the offensive, Mel is left to worry about losing Derek...but he always comes back to her, as promised...nothing keeps him from her EVER!

For me, this had amazing heat, a bit of suspense and an unexpected little shocker near the end that I think might come back as a problem!!!! Mostly I felt like Derek and Melissa were finally more than just two characters...they had some back story and some depth that made me appreciate them even more. I say kudos to Ms Louise as this was fairly quick read so to get a good story and good heat done effectively...WELL DONE!

This series has a continuing story arc

Melissa and Derek's relationship continues to develop in this story, with her psychotic ex-husband always in the background. Because they're still living separately, he in Princeton, New Jersey, she in Raleigh, North Carolina, Derek is worried that he can't adequately protect her from what he feels is certain retribution from Sloan so he enlists his partner Patrick's help who's already relocated to be near Elaine.

I enjoyed this story as the focus was more on the deepening relationship between Melissa and Derek. The interesting plan to trap Sloan involved some strange "bedfellows" and the way that plot unfolded is sure to create issues down the road. There were some creepy moments, too, that added to the intrigue, though this was definitely more about the romance.

I really liked the use of dual narrators, too. While it can be a little odd that they only perform separately when the story transitions between Melissa's and Derek's points of view and not throughout the story, it all works in the end. I especially liked Christian Fox's performance.

Based on how this story ended, there are sure to be repercussions in later stories. While I'd only committed to reading the first three books in this series, I fear that plan is now shot:)

Great follow up story for Derek and Melissa !!

I really enjoyed this 3rd installment to the series… .getting back to my favorite couple Melissa and Derek. I’ll admit that I felt a disconnect with Elaine and Patrick in the 2nd installment but getting back to Mel and Derek in this one was awesome. You should read book 1 in this series before reading this installment.. since Derek and Mel’s story starts off in book 1 and you really need to see how they came to be together to understand what they are going through in this one..

Derek…. Still love Derek. He’s just as sexy as before and even more protective of sweet Melissa. They are deeply in love and expecting a baby… although they still live a few hours away from each other.. they see each other on the weekends and anytime they can make it happen during the week… Derek’s business is based out of Princeton but Mel loves her little cottage on the beach so doesn’t want to give it up. They just have to make a decision where they are going to build their family together.

And holy hotness! Do these 2 still have some major steam going on ! Perfect chemistry …. Tia was able to combine some really hot sexy times but show how their deep love for each other at the same time. Derek and Melissa truly connect with each other.. you never get the feeling they are just f’king no matter how hot they are. There’s always that high level of love they feel for each other shining through….

Although there is no angst in this book…there is some drama going on with Mel’s douchy ex …. He still has an obsession with Melissa which causes Derek to cross lines he never thought he’d cross. As a former marine with a strong code of ethics and a clear vision of right and wrong, Derek is going to be forced to make decisions that cause him to do things he’s not comfortable with doing.. but when it comes to Mel and their baby she’s carrying there is nothing he won’t do. Nothing.

I really loved seeing Melissa and Derek again and although their story could be considered wrapped up in this installment I think Tia could have more story for them…. We’ve got a baby on the way and their living arrangments still up in the air so I’d love to see what happens next. That’s the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.. this book had room to be longer and wrap things up for Mel and Derek. Although they were happy and in a good place, I would have liked more closure. So here’s hoping Tia gives us more Derek and Melissa!

5 - Derek Alexander Stars!

ITS LIVE!

One To Keep is a book I have been waiting for, for quite some time. Tia Louise is an author that surprises me in a pleasant way with each book that she releases in this highly enjoyable, and completely addictive series.

You are never quite sure what to expect with regards to the direction that one of her storylines is going to take and this book is no exception. Derek and Melissa are settling into life as a couple however the cloud on the horizon is that Sloan is still a free man, and is still a legitimate threat to Melissa in Derek’s eyes, and as such he will stop at nothing to remove that threat.

Being with her is enough. She is home and comfort and warmth and all the good things I thought I’d never have again. She’s my future and my desire and my love.

Told from both Derek and Melissa’s perspective, I absolutely loved getting in both of their heads at such a pivotal time in their relationship. Derek is and I am pretty sure will always be one of my top ten alpha males, and it was an absolute treat too see all aspects of his personality as the book progressed, soft, hard, emotional, emotionless, this is a man on a mission and he is relentless until the threat has been dealt with. There are also some hugely funny moments between him and Patrick as well, and meeting Patrick sporting a baseball bat in the dead of night is one of the funniest paragraphs I have read in a while.

Derek “The beast is unleashed.”

What I love (and have loved since the beginning of this series) about
Melissa, is that she is a strong woman, no unnecessary angst or drama, she is a woman who has been hurt, but has walked away a stronger person because of it. She is a fighter, and is not afraid to stand up for her man, her family and the freedom to live her life, without fear. She fights throughout this book, and you feel the strengthening of her bond with Derek as things progress.

”Don’t let him win”...”If he took you away from me, I’d have lost something I can’t live without.”

If you haven’t read this series, I cannot recommend it highly enough,
Tia Louise gives great story, and characters, and in general a great escape if you are a reader looking for some quality romantic fiction with a few hours to spare. Patrick and Elaine, figure heavily (and quite funnily) in this book as well, so it is just a great all-round continuation of the series. I hope we get more from all parties involved (especially Derek!) very soon.

ARC generously provided, by the awesome and extremely talented Tia Louise, and I am absolutely delighted to provide the above honest review.

DNF rant

When I finished One to Hold, I'm not sold by the story. The reason I decided to read this is because I'm curious about this couple and I wonder if I will like the sequel more if I got to know the characters better. Unfortunately, I have to say I still don't see much character development here. Apart from the numerous exchange of 'I love you' and 'I love you more', I don't see them communicating outside of sex or do any of the whole getting to know each other dance. The way they were only together for a one week previously and then the HEA from book 1 still left me feeling puzzled.

There are also some plot that bother me and didn't make sense. I know is not important in the grand scheme of things, but I just wanna rant.

Derek and Melissa once again surprise us with the level of intensity.
The need to protect the ones you love and care about more than life itself is the driving force to commit yourself to the life of continual fear and insecurity or to take matters into you own hands, even if it makes you the villain to the outside world.
Atypical solutions, team work, trust and life changing occurrences.
This story just asks for a chance to be revealed and reviewed.

I’m having a hard time trying to decide which book in this series is my favorite. I am strongly leaning towards this one. And although I have loved them all, something about One to Protect, just did it for me.

We already know that Derek loves Melissa. In this story, we learn how fierce and protective that love is. I loved the level of suspense that was added as well. Derek will do anything to keep Melissa from harm and proves it. It’s not just him and Mel anymore.

Derek and Mel are still traveling back and forth between homes, not having decided where to live. It’s a long drive but they are making it work, for now. It’s when Derek has something come across his desk that he knows Mel isn’t safe and he needs to get to her ASAP. Patrick and Elaine help in a big way but Melissa is kept in the dark. Derek wants her to feel safe; she has enough to worry about.

We also learn more of Sloan’s depravity. He is a very dangerous man and Melissa will never be safe unless he is out of the picture.

OK, once I started this book, I did not put it down until I was finished! It was steamy, sweet, suspenseful and gritty, with some laughs thrown in. That is a perfect combination for me! I love these characters and am looking forward to reading what Tia Louise comes up with next!

ONE TO PROTECT.. I love this series. Tia Louise has created wonderful memorable characters. I have to admit I'm in love with Derek. He's so fierce and so loving at the same time. He and Melissa are perfect together.
The sex scenes are hot but not redundant! They're love (and energy level) jumps off the pages!
I also like how we get to see more of the friendships and trust between other characters. I really liked Toni in this story. I hope Tia gives us more insight into her in the future. In the meantime, I'm thankful to have gotten more Derek and Melissa!
If you're looking for a fun, intriguing, and HOT story...this is it!!

Oh my beautiful Derek & Mel, how I have missed you and your delicious passion!!! Enjoying them now! Thank you Tia xo

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! The End! Nooooo, just kidding!

Ok, so those of you who have read my reviews of Tia's yummy OTH series know how crazy in love I am with Derek & Melissa!! They stayed with me for days after reading their story and I wanted more, more, more!! Thankfully, Tia being the goddess that she is must have heard my whining and gave me more!! See how I'm taking all the credit there?) Ok, so maybe it wasn't me that made her tell more of their story, but lets go with that :)

When we left Derek & Mel they were madly in love, having a baby, but couldn't decide who would give up their home town to move in with the other. So we find them still commuting - a really freakin' long way, mind you - to be together!! When Mel gets a text from Nikki that something has got Derek super stressed, she makes an unexpected visit to help, well, relax him...if you get my drift! :)

Little does she know at the time that Derek's stress is all due to the fact that her abusive bastard of an ex-husband is walking free and Derek DOES NOT LIKE THAT!! Can you blame him??? No worries though, Derek has got this!! I absolutely love the moral of this story, which I believe is to show just how far we will go to protect the ones we love and keep them safe.

All I can say is why would anyone think it wise to fuck with Derek Alexander, my delicious hunk of yummy Marine man meat!??! Big Mistake!!

If you love this series this is a must read, I am hoping we get little snippets of Derek & Mel for a long time to come, yeah, that's my inner voyeur talkin' - can't help it, she's a greedy bitch and I think I mentioned my slightly obsessive love for these characters!!

Oh, and if you have not read any of the books in this super sexy series, get on it! I really have no idea what you could be waiting for!!!

Disclaimer: “One to Protect” was the continuation of “One to Hold” while it also happened before the end of “One to Keep”. Just a note, “One to Hold” and “One to Keep” were standalones though a reader must read “One to Hold” to be able to understand “One to Protect”.
Also, this novel is adult-themed. Mature readers only.

First and foremost, Tia Louise had done it again. She had written another beautifully-crafted novel. It was still as heartfelt like the previous ones she had written. I praise for her finesse as a great storyteller: knows how to pace the story, makes the flow fluid, knows how to drop a climax and to end it while asking for more; but mostly, she knows how to make a reader immerse in her novel.

Congratulations to the author, Tia Louise, since my ultimate favorite was “One to Hold” yet “One to Protect” stood so close! This was a tricky and a well-thought story. Tia Louise had used layman's terms and wrote a very detailed narrative of the scenes. The way she had written each POV was spot-on without giving away too much of the story. Once again, as a reader, I was captured by the magnificence of the story. As always, Tia Louise never fail to make me ache as the characters – I felt lost while Mel was confounded on what Derek was doing and I was frightened while Derek was just to protect his family.

As for the double POV, it had enlightened the story more. The passion, love and care that each Derek and Mel had for each other was shown here. But who was the One to Protect? Was it Mel? Dex? Derek? Patrick? Elaine? Who?

“Entangled with a mess from the past,
Haunting their future,
And fear lingering the present.
How will they overcome this?”

“One to Protect” had that suspense, thrill and heart-clutching moments. It made me sit up right on my bed, my leisure reading became an all too consuming fist-sheet-clenching reading as I swipe pages to unravel what would Derek do and what would happen to Sloan. In all honesty, I am a TV crime-drama bias and I would admit that this novel was like watching one. Though this novel dealt with such anticipation for action, it was still filled with unconditional romance. The action was there, the risks, the emotions and the reason that kept the character doing these things.

It was again Derek and Melissa’s story but now they were faced with a bigger fight. Mel's case was not yet done… Sloan was taking his time. Sloan was delaying and it was the calm before the storm.
Sloan was, if not, like a psycho. He was obsessed. Obsessed with what or obsessed with whom? I couldn't help but think it was an obsession of an idea. An idea of Mel or the physicality of Mel? But one thing was clear: Sloan had this obsession to possess. He once had Mel and it had kept him addicted to the thought of possessing Mel. The one he deemed he loved and the one who was his. He was like a victim on loose, he was needed to kept tabs with but Sloan was sneaky, rich, powerful and he had his mind set on what he wanted and he would go for it. A person with a mind like his would always seek what he wants and he would do his best to get it… especially if he knew it was his on the first place. As if Derek would not put up a fight? Mel was, is now, Derek’s and no one would change that. Yes, Mel was Sloan’s before but it already ended. Derek was also a man with a mindset like Sloan. This would be difficult, both guys were competitive and they always reach their goals. And sometimes you resort to different tactics and strategies, to protect someone.

So that the gang was back and they were stronger than ever. Mel was still that strong woman I had described in my “One to Hold” review, like Derek was still an enigma of sorts in here. There were things that changed for the better between these two. Not just the baby in the mix but also how their relationship had become. They were each other’s saving grace. When all felt like life had let them down; they found each other and everything was almost right again. It was as much as a drama-filled book as it was cloaked with romance. The book shouted “I’d do anything for love”. The sacrifice and all in-between? Amazing.

The development and progress of the story were congruent with the characters and their relationships. It showed that Mel and Derek were in a very serious relationship. They were let talking about building a future together. A path where there would be no turning back. Full-on responsibility and deciding together. That would lead there. But first, Derek must eradicate the barrier. Yes, eradicate. Intentionally or not. Then there were times that the story was all-too-consuming and I was glad Elaine and Patrick were there. They were the ice-breakers in the story. Yet, I also feared for Elaine and Patrick since they were helping Mel and Derek; they were also at risk (more so on Patrick, too).

Like at “One to Hold”, I was still mystified with Derek and it helped that he had his POVs in here. There was a heavy feeling I always encounter whenever I read Derek's POVs; that I felt trapped with his darkness yet overwhelmed by all his emotions for Melissa. He was still moving-on from his past love and he was consumed by a real and new love with Melissa. It was tougher because Mel and he were faced with a very strong opponent. I saw, felt and knew how powerful his love was at Mel especially that part when he voiced out his fear at Mel, I couldn’t remember it verbatim but Derek said that he fears a person who could take Mel away from him (that was total spoiler and swoon-alert!) not only that, consequences be damned he has a goal in mind: Mel and Dex. No questions asked and no second thoughts. He was all-in, to hold and to protect.

As for the romance, I covet every moment Derek and Mel meet. It was like a lover who was sent back from the war (no pun intended). It fills that longing. They relish the affection and the savor each moment together. The sexual tension and the intimacy were there, as powerful as ever. The fire from within was ignited and they fused not only their bodies but also their hearts and minds. The raw craving, that I mentioned back at “One to Hold”, to feel again was met and love was included in the equation, it made the story overwhelming, brilliant and beautiful.

On another note, it felt like there was more to the story. I thought about how it still had the sense of elation yet the closure was not fully-reached. Derek and Patrick still had an unfinished business. For me, I'd say he did what he had to do and it was justifiable. A piece of advice: have a great defense attorney. That aside, the problem ended all right but there were still strings attached and I couldn’t wait if there would be more or that was it. Either way, the overall story had created a great sense of balance of romance and drama.

Lastly, what I loved the most was that after reading this novel, there was something that clicked. It was the double entendre about the title. It was not to be overlooked. I literally said, ‘Oh! Oh! I get it!’ when I had the light-bulb moment and I even disclosed what I thought to Tia Louise! The title really acknowledged not only Mel and Dex but also for Derek (and Patrick). The questions were: ‘Who was the one to protect?’ and ‘Who was the one protecting?’ There were interconnections within those questions; plus the epilogue was very fulfilling.

’It is over, we’re going to be okay.’
An assurance, a half-truth.
That was all he needed to say…
For now.”

One to Hold told the story of how Derek and Melissa found each other despite all of the obstacles that were in their way – both self created and otherwise. One to Protect continues the path to their happily ever after; a baby, a marriage, and the life Derek and Melissa have always wanted are in their grasp, but one person stands in their way – Sloan, Melissa’s ex-husband. No matter how hard Derek has fought to put Sloan away and end Melissa’s nightmare once and for all, the job can never get done because the slime ball always seems to slither away from his judgment day. But when Derek receives information that once again threatens his life with Melissa, he teams up with Patrick and an unlikely ally to end Sloan’s torment once and for all.

The story is told from both Derek and Melissa’s point of views, which is the best way to tell it because as Derek’s mission to end Sloan’s control over their lives commences, Derek and Mel find themselves apart for quite a bit of the text. Readers need to understand what both of them are thinking and feeling as everything goes down, and we get that with the dual perspective.

Derek is still the dominant alpha male who takes care of what’s his and every move he makes is focused on that. His love for Melissa drives him; it makes him better, and he’ll ensure that it remains that way. There is nothing weak about Melissa. She’s a fighter who had to overcome tremendous obstacles, which she did, and even though fear threatens to consume her yet again, she refuses to back down; she’ll protect Derek as much as he’s protecting her.

The One to Hold Series is a fantastic journey about four dynamic characters. Even though the focus of One to Protect is on Derek and Mel’s continuing journey, Patrick and Elaine are just as important to the dynamics of the story. The way they have each other’s back is phenomenal, and the obstacles with Sloane could not have been sorted without Patrick’s quick thinking and backbone.

Tia Louise’s stories are sexy, drama filled adventures that do not disappoint. They revolve around dynamic characters who hold nothing back in life and in love. The One to Hold Series is a must read for anyone who loves romance mixed with action and angst. I can’t wait for One to Love!

A complimentary copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Tia gives us a little treat before she tells Kenny’s story. One To Protect is Derek and Melissa dealing with the aftermath of her screwed up marriage to Sloan and trying to create a safe future together for their family. Derek and Melissa don’t really reveal anything new about themselves, but how far they will go to protect one another is a bit of a shocker.

We always see the softer side of Derek when he’s with Melissa. Everywhere else he’s closed off and sort off judgmental. He’s lived life by a set of rules and standards, so he doesn’t get it when other people don’t hold themselves to higher standards as well. But there is definitely a softening in his view of others as OTP progresses. Some of the things he does to protect the woman he loves, along with some of the things others do to help him causes him to take a step back and reevaluate how the conclusions he has about people—Patrick and Toni/Starr most of all.

Melissa has moved on with life. She’s preparing herself to be a mother and putting in the effort to be a life partner with the man she was lucky enough to fall in love with despite his initial deception. Dwelling on Sloan, her abusive ex-husband, will derail all the progress she’s made, and Melissa is determined he won’t beat her again, mentally or physically. Sloan no longer has the upper hand in her life, even if he did beat the criminal charges against him.

Derek isn’t taking any chances. He’s been given a second chance at love. There’s no way in hell he’s going to let someone like Sloan take it away from him. The police aren’t able to do anything because Sloan is rich, highly connected, and knows how to cover his tracks for the most part. What’s a guy to do? Well, if the guy happens to have some experience in covert operations, he decides to bait a trap with the help of Patrick and the unlikely ally of Toni Durrango. Their plan is strong, but they all know it’s dangerous. When things don’t go exactly how they planned, just how far will Derek go?

What will Melissa say when she learns the truth? Tia takes on another journey with a couple trying to forge an honest life out a deception. Can they keep it together and move past the fear that hangs over their future? Tia left me somewhat stunned in the direction the story took. OTP is a story of the gray areas in life. Not everything is cut and dry. It all boils down to the question; how far would you go to protect the one you love?

This is the first book that I have read from Tia even though this is book #3 in the One to Hold series, it can be read as a stand alone.

I think that book one was about Derek and Melissa too, BUT as I said this book was read and loved as a stand alone.

Derek and Melissa have been through a lot together, her ex did some cruel and unthinkable things to her, things that he got away with. He is now walking around free, Derek doesn't like this and he will stop at nothing to see that this man pays for the crimes that he has done.

With all that Melissa has become to him, he is afraid of losing her to the things that haunt him the most, death. He sets out to destroy her ex Sloan, what will happen when he does the thing he never said he would do just to get the justice that both him and Melissa so much deserve? Can they have the HEA that they long for?

I really enjoyed this book, Melissa is sweet and loving and wants nothing more then to spend her life with Derek and forget everything that has ever happened to her before she met him. Derek is happy but he also wants to feel safe and when Sloan her ex is on the loose he doesn't. I love how protective he was of Melissa, but the thing I loved the most is that she let him be that way. I have read so many books where the woman freaks out because the man is being protective over her, and that is his instinct. I think it is built in them when the are born to protect what they love and cherish. But it seems everything I have been reading lately, wants the woman to be independent and gets angry if the man tries to protect. You can be independent and protected. This book shows that. She is a strong woman, but she loves when her man shows her love and protection. It was a sweet loving read. Thank you Tia. I am for sure going to go back and read the first two in this series. And I look forward to reading anything else that you release in the future.

I’ve always had it pretty bad for Derek Alexander, one of the sexiest alpha males to ever take up occupancy in my kindle. The ex-marine turned private investigator was cold and all business – until he met Melissa. He was assigned to only watch her, but ended up falling hard for the spunky yet broken woman who returned his affections. The chemistry between the both of them was immediate and beyond intense (I still sort of blush when I see a family restroom). Derek was always a man of few words but you never questioned how powerful his feelings were for this unexpected woman in his life. The love they had for each other was all consuming, and for the first time they both thought happily ever after was actually a possibility if they had each other.

“You’re my second chance…and you gave me a second chance. Twice.”

One to Protect is the first time we actually get into Derek’s head – and I loved it. Surprisingly, the one thing you wouldn’t think would be a problem for Mr. Cool, collected and outwardly emotionless is a huge catalyst in this story – his fear. Melissa’s ex-husband Sloan managed to avoid going to jail for what he did to her, and Derek knows it’s just a matter of time before he tries again. He also finds out that Sloan is even sicker than he originally thought, and there’s danger to more than just Melissa if he’s not stopped. Derek always knew what he would do whatever it is he needs to keep his family safe for good, but he’s afraid of losing Melissa in the process. He doesn’t want her to think he’s a monster, and Melissa doesn’t want him doing anything to jeopardize their future together.

Like the first book, I loved the suspense and intrigue One to Protect had. We get more of Patrick, and I never get tired of what comes out of his mouth. The spark between Derek and Melissa certainly did not fade out with time, their scenes together are hot enough to make you melt. Even the phone calls and texts between them are pretty hot.

I love this couple, and really hope this isn’t the end of their story. A novella, anything – I need more Derek and Melissa!

5 out of 5 jaw dropping stars

So now that I have managed to pick my jaw up off the ground. I can tell you what I thought about One to Protect. Well I freaking LOVED it. Nuff said!

This is book 3 in the One to Hold series Yes each one can be read as a standalone and all have their own HEA. But, you still have to read One to Hold and One to Keep. This continues with Derek and Melissa’s story from One to Hold But we get a little bit of the characters from One to Keep. So it definitely gives you great insight to read the first 2 in the series.

With that said, In One to Protect we get more insight to Derek and Melissa’s story. There is so much chemistry between the two of them, it is hard for your own cheeks not to turn red. I found myself constantly blushing., Ok, so not only was I blushing, I was laughing, crying, and yelling. Any emotion you can name, I went through. And SHOCK can you say I was in shock. There was such a twist there I didn’t see coming. But it proves Derek will do whatever he must, to Protect Melissa. She is his love. She is his second chance. And Derek will be dammed if he looses her.

Words can’t express how great this story was. So I did my best here to let you know how amazing Tia’s writing is. But let’s face it. I am a reader not a writer, so my words won’t do her justice. You just have to pick this up for yourself. Then you will understand what I am talking about. I could sit here all night and go on and on about this one but I won’t, lets face it you don’t want to sit here for 10 minutes listening to me rave. Just get it. You know you want to I mean that is why you are reading my review right now anyways right?? So yes I loved this, Yes I already have recommended this to my friends. And I am keeping this one in my Library. You know we all have that go to story to read over and over. This is mine!

This book was smoking hot with lots of sexy scenes. You may want to take your kindle into the bedroom for this one.

I highly recommend that you pick up One To Hold before reading One to Protect. I have read all the books in this series and have loved them immensely. One to Protect picks up after One to Keep. Melissa and Derek are living the happily ever after with a baby on the way when a dead call girl shows up that looks identical to Melissa. Derek knows that Sloan is involved in her death and is out to prove it this time. How far will he go to risk his own life and miss out on the wonderful life he has?

This book will have you on the edge of your seat. Sloan is an evil bastard and he will stop at nothing to get back what belongs to him. When Melissa starts hearing noises in her house at night I was literally spooked. Then her necklace goes missing and I thought for sure that Sloan was going to kidnap her and drive Derek to an early grave. Talk about evoking emotion. I was seriously anxious to see what was going to happen and of course could not put the book down because if I tried to go to sleep I would be hearing things that go bump in the night.

Tia does a great job developing her characters and you see Melissa only get stronger. I really enjoyed seeing Patrick and Lainey again and look forward to the next chapter in their story.

If you like alpha males and lots of scorching chemistry pick up Tia’s entire series. You will be glad you did.

I was extremely happy to receive an eARC from the Author Tia Louise in exchange for an honest review and I am glad I did. I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, so I couldn't wait to dive into this book. Again the Author had me hooked from the first page. I just couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I totally love Derek's and Melissa's relationship throughout these books. They seriously will forever hold a place in my heart for one of my all time favorite book couples. I couldn't get enough of them and by the end of this book I still wanted more. It wasn't because the story itself ended bad, it was the complete opposite. The ending was so good I didn't want it to end. This story is told from Derek's and Melissa's POV's which I loved. I love getting into Derek's head and feeling everything he was going through. It was nice change. We learn a lot about Derek in this book. Which answered a lot of my questions I had from the previous books. This book will send you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but it was so worth it. I loved every minute of this book and wouldn't change a thing. I can't wait to see what else is in store for the rest of the characters. If you have not started these books, I totally would. I hope you love them as much as I did. Derek and Melissa will rock your sock off.

P.S. Longer review to come once book is out.

I can't believe we're up to book three in the One to Hold series already.

Life is continuing for the foursome of Patrick and Elaine and Melissa and Derek but there is still one shadow in Melissa's past that needs to be stopped.

In this instalment, Derek and Melissa are trying to find a way to be rid of Sloan, Melissa's ex, once and for all. Sloan is sneaky though and plays mind games with the pair and it is up to Derek and Patrick, who form an unlikely partnership with the woman who once set Patrick up, to finally find a way of stopping Sloan's attempts to hurt Melissa.

Sloan is a mean SOB and after someone connected to him is found dead, Patrick and Derek know the time has come to act before any more innocent girls are harmed, or even killed.

The story is an enjoyable one and provides more insights into each pair as they try to continue with their relationships.

There is no cliff-hanger and a HEA!!!

Derek and Patrick are back and with a vengeance. Or I think it's Derek actually.

I like that the story is not dragged out too long. It kinds of just stays in that moment and moves on. Plus it's actually good to read POV's from each characters.

Derek is swoon-worthy. He's all mysterious and sexy in that way. I love his chemistry with Melissa. I also like Patrick and Elaine.

I felt like there might be a cliffhanger or not. But it's like the story is not over yet.

My rating: 4.5 of 5 ⭐️

Even though Melissa has found her new beginning with Derek, she is still plagued with nightmares of her abusive ex-husband. Rich and successful, the man has been able to slip out from under every criminal charge filed against him, leaving her feeling rather exposed. Especially since she doesn't just have herself to worry about anymore.

Being in the security business affords Derek Alexander a few more tools to keep tabs on his fiancee's violent ex. But the constant reminder of his inability to end the nightmares for his woman, once and for all, grates on his protective nature. He has done everything possible to keep the man behind bars, but he simply is too well connected.

When the body of a former call girl turns up, the discovery she is a tie back to some painful history, may be the breakthrough they have been waiting for. Derek will do everything in his powers to stop Melissa's ex, before he can ever get near her again. Even if it means breaking his own highly held moral code with the help of his partner in a walk on the dark side....

*****

Freaking holy hotness!!!

I ADORE Tia Louise!!! Truly I do. She writes fantastic juicy, fun, steaming hot love scenes, with tough manly men who can melt at the hands of their women.

Derek and Melissa are the couple from One To Hold, the first book in the series, and although this novel functions as a standalone, I feel it would be beneficial to read all the books in the series, simply to get a feel for the writing, the characters, and the back story. However, One To Protect is a complete story in itself, with a completion for Derek and Melissa.

One of the great things about Tia's stories is that although they have their happy ever afters, not all is rainbows and unicorns..... Not all issues resolve themselves magically by the end of each book, which is more true to life than the alternative. Practical conflicts and ongoing negotiations are evident with the relationship between Derek and Melissa as well, but they do not take away from the strong bond between them. And even at the end of this novel, there is the implication that things are as perfect as they can be ...... given the circumstances!! And that is an important distinction! One that Ms. Louise is not afraid to make, having her feet solidly planted on terra firma.

One To Protect held all the right components of an AWESOME read for me: Fabulous strong characters, both male and female; A great supporting cast, adding colour and depth to the storyline; Intrigue and suspence, providing a component of tension and action, and; A deep and solid romance, liberally enhanced with off the charts, sparking sexual chemistry.

I loved Melissa and Derek’s story, and I was so excited to get more of these memorable characters in this third book of the One to Hold series (book two is Derek’s partner Patrick’s story). Having battled their demons, things should have been on the fast track to a happy ever after for these two, but Melissa’s past once again was coming back to haunt them. Their life together has started and the last thing Melissa wants or needs is her ex-husband Sloan causing her more problems, but things were a lot more serious than she ever could have imagined.

Derek was in full-on protective hero mode as his investigation into Sloan started to take a scary turn, and I loved it! He and Melissa always had crazy hot chemistry, but toss in his alpha male instincts to keep his woman safe and you’ve got yourself one hell of a steamy suspense story. Just because there was a psychotic ex out there lurking in the shadows didn’t mean Melissa wasn’t sporting some raging pregnancy hormones that she wanted to take advantage of, and Derek never lets his woman down!

Derek and Patrick go to rather disturbing lengths in order to finally find something on Sloan that will stick, and you really get a sense of just how sick this guy is. He’s like Ray Liotta in Unlawful Entry, you just feel the slime oozing off of him at every turn. My mind was often preoccupied wondering if Melissa and the baby were really safe, and there was a huge sense of relief whenever Derek or Patrick actually had Sloan in their sight! Readers will eat up the suspense, drool over the steamy yumminess, and feel all kinds of happy when Melissa and Derek’s story comes to an end, so I’d say this was a great addition to the series!

Quotes:
Our old argument. Neither of us chased it any further—not on our last morning together. We were counting down the hours before we’d be apart again, and instead, I focused on trailing my lips down to her collarbone, past the floating heart, lower to her breasts until we were lost in our special place once more. ~Loc 252

She pushes back and seems to shake herself. Standing again, I see her find that strength I know is inside her. It’s amazing to watch.
“Fuck him.” Her voice is calm. “Let Sloan Reynolds try to come here. I have a Louisville slugger for that very purpose.” ~Loc 650

He blinks and whatever it was is gone, hidden behind the shield I know he’s learned to cultivate. We’ve only been together a few months, but already I’ve learned to hate that barrier that keeps me at a distance, away from what’s hurting him. ~Loc 1907

“Being with her is enough. She is home and comfort and warmth and all the good things I thought I’d never have again. She’s my future and my desire and my love.”

This is the third book in the One to Hold series by Tia Louise and it is the final chapter in Derek and Melissa’s story. This book picks off where book one ended and we find that Derek and Melissa are still living HEA and still just in love as we left them. They are commuting to see one another as Derek lives in Princeton, New Jersey and Melissa lives in North Carolina.
The main tension in the story comes from outside sources, and by outside sources I mean, Sloan, Melissa’s ex-husband who has been up to his old foolery and Derek has been keeping tabs on him, while trying to keep Melissa safe, and out of the loop. Derek has a lot of hard decisions to make, including how far is he willing to go in order to assure that nothing happens to Melissa?
Derek is the perfect alpha male. He adores Melissa, but he doesn’t cage her in, and because Melissa knows that Derek is there to not only love her but protect her, she has been able to grow and she has come into her own. I adore when a woman can be secure in herself and her relationship enough that she gains strength from it rather than weakness.
I also really enjoy Tia Louise’s style of writing because even though you are hoping for a happy ending, there are enough twists and turns that it is still interesting and has you turning the pages anticipating what will happen next. There are sweet moments, hilarious moments, and hot and steamy moments!!! And there is no cliffhanger, which makes it even that much better.

If you were a fan of One to Hold, then you should definitely read One to Protect. You will not be disappointed.

There is something so sweet and HOT about a very strong, disciplined man like Derek who falls in love…like madly-helplessly-effortlessly in love with a great woman like Melissa. And the listening experience from this audiobook was effortless. This is a continuation in the romance between Derek and Melissa, as well as their best friends, Patrick and Elaine. Consider yourself getting a 2 for 1 deal with the parallel romances.

Let me say that I LOVE Derek and Melissa together. They make a beautiful couple. Throughout Melissa's pregnancy, Derek is so tender and gentle with her and you could feel the weight he carried on his shoulders to make sure she was kept safe from her dangerous, vindictive ex-husband. Derek and Melissa both have quite a few things they are still working through in their relationship as they move forward to a more permanent place for their growing family, and it was endearing. The love scenes were lovely--they were emotional, intense and erotic. This book ends with some really somber issues that Derek has to make sense of, and many other unfinished situations for the other couple that will make the next books something to look forward to.

I liked how the surrounding characters introduced from the previous books were brought forward and expounded upon, like previous escort Toni, Kenny (baby momma), and Sloan (Melissa's crazy ex-husband).

I can't wait to continue to follow the romances of both of these sweet, yet insatiable couples…..

Narrators: Lucy Rivers and Christian Fox were wonderful. WIth such great vocal talent, this listen was quite a treat!
