"It was where she would go when life got too hard. Deep into her daydreams she would retreat. There, she wasn't fearful or weak. There, she was brave, smart, wise. She could always rely on her, the woman in her mind. She never let her down."

Clara Rivers imagined a lot of things for her life, but working at the local Bean Queen as a barista wasn't one of them. Idolizing about the woman she could be, Clara often found comfort inside her daydreams. When a forgotten childhood game is recalled she is beckoned to jump into an enchanting ray of light.

Waking up in a world that her childhood self would have loved, Clara struggles with the harsh truth of living in an unfamiliar world full of strange creatures, temperamental mages, beautiful healers, and brave knights. When the castle's ancient mage chants a cryptic prophecy, Clara will need to embody her daydreams as Ancora castle looks to her to defeat the fabled Lectus.

Along the way, Clara puts her trust in her companions as she is haunted by hazy phantoms and a windowless castle. Unable to see herself victorious, Clara is left to battle the stories she creates inside her mind while the reality of facing something bigger than herself looms closer.

It all started when…

I was in the darkest part of my life and I did something brave. Unable to find a way to ease my anxiety, I needed someone to experience that bravery with. Opening my computer, I began to type:

“It was a fun game, pretending to be magical.”

The story seemed to write itself and took me along for the journey. I’ve always had a certain fondness for words, but me? An author?

As the adventure unfolded, I fell in love. I found where I belong and in that belonging, something to live for. But more importantly, I began to hear another voice. The one that believed in me. That voice reminded me that even in my weakest time, greatness can be found.

Gonna be honest... I chose this for the cute cover. I was deceived.

When I first started the book, it was giving cute, cozy medieval fantasy vibes. It quickly turned into a monotonous, boring tale of a whiny damsel in distress (Clara) who constantly needs saving and has no confidence in herself. 😮‍💨 No thanks. And despite his chivalry, our hero, Sawyer, had the personality of a wet sock. The only character I could even remotely stand was Holly because she gives me warm mama feelings that remind me of Molly Weasley from Harry Potter.

Also, the writing in this once you got to the realm of Ancora was so disorganized. The author flitted from the view of one character to the next to the next, paragraph after paragraph. This made the writing come off extremely choppy. The book would have been so much better if it had been written from a single POV or in a dual POV chapter form.

I had high hopes for this... So much so, I spent $$ on Amazon for it and now regret that decision. I personally wouldn't recommend this book, despite the high ratings it's gotten. Bummer, dude.

I had the privilege of receiving an advanced reader copy of this book.
A merge between Tomorrowland, Enchanted, Narnia, and the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, this book is filled with lovable characters and wild adventures. It's the story of all of us, who feel average and want to be more, finding out that we hold the power to be incredible if only we allow ourselves to be. For a first edition, it is incredible, beautifully descriptive, and the scenarios are original and exciting. It's a read fit for the whole family, and one gets to take away the message of being brave enough to become your own hero. I would love to read a sequel! I need to know what happens to all those characters and how their relationships evolve.

Clara needs to find a way to escape to when life gets to be too hard.

Escaping into her daydreams gives Clara that little bit of reprieve and allows her to become who she wishes to be in the real world.

Until one day Clara finds herself seemingly stuck in her dream world.

Another Voice is a book that will take you on an adventure where prophecies need to be fullfilled, strange mystical creatures are the norm and a story of a girl who sees the lessons that it's okay to be who we are and go after our dreams.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to be one of the first individuals to read this book. I loved the story and the characters were relatable and charming. The story was creative and captivating and kept me on the edge of my seat. It was easy to get lost in the imagination of the Author and visualize the creatures and distant lands. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading it over and over again.

Love that you can really decide for yourself how the protagonist looks. It's truly an allegory for young adult life.
