An impromptu night with Rhett McCoy was the best date I’ve ever been on, and it could ruin everything.
After a few martinis, hours of butterfly-inducing conversation, and some light trespassing, I spilled a secret because I thought he was here on vacation. But the next morning at my job as an interior designer, our new carpenter turns out to be Rhett.
Keeping my business afloat takes all my energy, but my meddling friends insist I need a break. The late nights and missed social engagements will be worth it once I’ve made Friday West Interiors an undeniable success.
Rhett disagrees with my never date a coworker rule, and he’s determined to see me do the “wrong” thing. I can’t have a charming carpenter with a southern accent jeopardizing everything I’ve worked for, no matter how panty-melting his smile is.
I lucked into a date with Devon Blake. Now I have to convince her we’re more than a one-time thing.
Six months ago, everything in my life changed. After a decade working a corporate job, I left it to find something that matters, and my fiancé broke up with me immediately after. Newly untethered, I towed my airstream to Palm Springs to rebuild my life.
Working with my hands as a carpenter is more fulfilling than anything I did behind a desk, and the walking, talking challenge in the form of an interior designer that comes with my new job only makes it better.
Devon lives by a strict set of rules, but I’m going to show her how much better life can be without them.
How Dare You is a spicy, opposites attract, romantic comedy with no third act break-up. Intended for 18+
Jasmine Grace writes sweet and spicy escapist love stories filled with all her favorite things and none of her pet-peeves. You will find Forced Proximity and He Falls First tropes in most of her stories, and you will not find a third act break-up or a miscommunication trope in any of them.
She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, Gary, stepdaughter Sophia, and their two dogs, Banjo and Shadow
I was a little when we met Devon in the last book she wasn't one of my faves, and I had a hard time liking her in her own book. She came off as an ice queen and a workaholic when she met Rhett for the first time she let her walls down and was free but put them back up. She has to focus and make sure her business doesn't sink when her rival keeps taking her jobs. She meets Rhett again, and she's kinda rude to him, and Rheet blessed him he is a sunshine and takes everyone she got, even defends her against workers calling her names. I love Rhett he saved the book for me he is everything you want in a bookboyfriend he was patient with her when she pushed away many times.
Them being "forced" to live with each other was funny one bed, campfires truth or dares. It was perfect. The spice was pretty low for me. Also, if you don't like Daddy Word, you should pass. We also saw past characters and new ones and maybe the next couple.
Low angst, no ow/om drama, no cheating, drama, sexy times, no virgins

Jasmine Grace is, I’ll venture to say, the queen of epigraphs. The whiteboard notes had me giggling. Rhett’s journal entries made me want to scream they were so precious.
The little found family she’s created with these two books is incredible. I love every character in the group.
This was such a fun concept and I loved how the chemistry felt during the whole book.
I might be desensitized to “daddy” now. “Trailer daddy” was just funny enough that it didn’t make me want to scratch my eyes out.

I tore through this book in a day and a half. Why, you ask? The sexual tension between Devon and Rhett hooked me, but the BANTER between them is what kept me turning them pages! And I can't forget all the little notes they write to one another. You will be giggling 20 pages into it just like me, and you'll stay for one of the best releases in June. 🫶🔥💕
I loved how Rhett taught Devon that it's okay to not be perfect all the time, to just be able to "be." And her existing is enough. 😍
But seriously, if you haven't read anything from Jasmine, you need to!
We have Devon Blake, miss perfectionist and interior designer extraordinaire. Everything is done on her timeline, including her love life. Always doing the right thing. Until she's out one night on a date, as Devon is leaving, she runs into Rhett.
Rhett McCoy was enjoying his night, watching the blonde goddess across the room tell her date off, but before she could leave, he gets her to toss her "right thing" philosophy out the door and life in the moment.
But they don't know that they will be working together. Will these Opposites "come" together(hehe), or will they go their separate ways?

“She schedules every moment of her life in that leather planner. She is straightlaced and steady, and sweet f*ck, do I want to be the one she unravels for.”
I absolutely loved this book!! I could relate to Devon on so many levels..being very type-A, always having to write things down, use a planner, be in control of my life.. while also desperately trying to prove that I am good enough and to make my parents proud.
The way Rhett loves on Devon is absolutely perfect. He doesn’t give in to her when she tries to control a situation and he shows her how truly worthy she is. He loves her so well.
This book was such a fun, easy, low-angst, quick read for me and I am sad it’s over and that I have to wait for the next one 😩

Just a GREAT time all around!!! Really, really fun book with a lovable cast of characters and a truly wonderful pairing in Devon and Rhett. Low angst, lots of fun, and a lil daddy kink sprinkled in—I ate this up and couldn’t put it down.
One of my favorite books of the year! If you haven’t read Voyeur Cafe, I highly recommend reading that one first, but it is NOT required as this is can be read as a standalone! The banter is top notch, as always with Jasmine’s books and I was laughing out loud at some of comebacks. The plot is fantastic, with no plot holes in the end! Rhett is one of my favorite MMCs ever. He’s respectful and understanding and so so sweet. Devon is very sassy and strong as hell! One of the most unique things and something I love is both Voyeur Cafe and How Dare You are obviously written by Jasmine, but both books have their own “voices” in the sense they don’t sound like identical books with different characters. The side characters were some of the most relevant that I’ve ever read, and I loved that because Voyeur Cafe (book 1) is so so close to my heart!
Thank you Jasmine for allowing me to read this early. All opinions are my own.
Voyeur Cafe was a pleasant surprise when I first read it, and so I've really been looking forward to this next instalment. The premise looked great, and I enjoyed all of the side characters from the first book. And yet it just felt... sort of lifeless. I don't know how to explain it, but I found myself skimming over lines...and I'm not a skimmer.
Rhett was so immediately in love and so perfect that I found him to almost be too much. I was shocked every time they mentioned the timeline because it felt like they had only just met. The development happened so rapidly that it made me dizzy. One minute Devon is confrontational, the next she's pretty much in love. In theory, I loved it (no third-act break up, two people who make each other better, career encouragement, he doesn't fix everything for her) but in reality, I just wish it had taken it's time a little more. I wanted Devon to reach the point of contentment by actually going through a journey, and instead, she just took one nap and was sold on the idea of R&R.
I did really enjoy the last few chapters of the book, with the rival drama. It was handled well and I appreciated the lack of melodramatic action.
This. Is. It. Jasmine really hit her stride with this one I fully enjoyed the whole vibe right out of the gate.
This book starts off with both MC’s immediately taking interest in one another after a chance meetup at a bar that turns into them the next day finding out they are working together on a project.
I loved Rhett’s confidence, and I loved that even though Devon gave him a lot of grief she also let that facade crack and let him in one plenty of occasions.
I didn’t feel like at any point this book was rushed, the wrap up felt like a natural progression of things.
All in all the vibes were vibing here! Despite “mama” being a term of endearment used throughout, I’m still giving it 5 stars because different strokes for different folks. Also “trailer daddy” did make me LOL
So grateful to have received an ARC of this book, cannot wait to see what else Jasmine has up her sleeve!
I loved this book. I loved how Rhett didn't give up on Devon and how he won her over. Obviously I hated Trina and she definitely got what she deserved in the end. Rhett was such a great guy and he was exactly who Devon needed. I loved the "trailer daddy" nickname it was funny. I loved how each chapter showed something from Devon's planner for her chapters, and something from Rhett's journal for his chapters. It gave insight into their thoughts and made the story better. I thought it was funny how Devon's friends tricked her into staying with Rhett for two weeks for her "vacation". She needed that time off. I loved how Rhett told her he was building his house for both of them, and making it perfect for both of them. I loved the ending, it was perfect. Thank you to Jasmine Grace for the advanced copy.
Jasmine has very quickly become my go to for something light, fun, and with minimal angst. I really enjoy her storytelling, and her character building is fantastic. Her side characters are all intriguing and well thought out, which helps to build anticipation for who she will write next.
Rhett and Devon were a dream to read about, the chemistry was immediately apparent, even though Devon made sure he worked for it, and I loved seeing them both grow as the story went on.
Highly recommend both books in this series, and whilst I'm crossing my fingers for a forced proximity Sadie/Cam story, I would absolutely not be mad at learning more about Bea.
The desert heat may be hot, but this was hotter. I’m not sure what it is but an icy headstrong FMC like Devon will always be someone I’m drawn to. I wanna know why they are the way they are. And also when they have a cool collected MMC like Rhett, I love seeing their dynamic. These two were so fun but also so good for each other. I loved seeing the inner turmoil of Devon’s logical thoughts versus her actual wants. Once those two finally began to blend together I was cheering so hard for her. I was so happy to see Rhett, normally a little golden retrievery, to do just what Devon needed: take control. Seeing the same gang from Voyeur Cafe had my heart feel so full especially with everyone banding around Devon not matter how much she protested it. Ah! I can’t wait for book 3!
I am a stingy gal with my five star ratings and let me tell you this book deserves five more. I love it I love it I love it. Jasmine Grace I think I’m in love with you?
I have been in a ✨slump✨ I have dnf’d more romance than I can count at this point and when this arc hit my email I was absolutely positively giddy. I knew I was going like it after how much I enjoyed voyeur cafe but wheeeew my socks hath been blown off
How Dare You is book 2 in Jasmine’s Heartbeats in the Heat series, starring Allie’s always in control bff, Devon, and the “why not break the rules” carpenter, Rhett. They meet by chance in a bar when Rhett spots Devon walking out on a bad date and convinces her to spend the rest of the evening with him. They enjoy their impromptu date, ending it by sneaking into the country club pool but right when things are getting heated Devon’s need to always be in control and stick to her plans kicks in and she runs out on him. Little does she know, he’s the new carpenter in town and she’ll be running into him constantly during her job as a designer. Rhett is all in from that first night, and spends the rest of the book convincing Devon that its okay for things to not be going how she planned-both in her business, which is struggling, and in her personal life, which she is slowly losing control of. Devon ends up spending 2 weeks with Rhett in his airstream, working on designing the home he is building after he wins her services in a raffle. During these 2 weeks, Devon is relaxing, little by little, into letting go of control of the little things. I loved seeing her character growth, going from a perfectionist who refuses to ever lose or admit defeat, to a real life human who understands that things change and sometimes we all need a little help from our friends. Rhett is such an ideal book boyfriend-understanding, patient, kind, and *incredibly* passionate… I love the little detail of his journal where he writes down the most important thing from each day, and how those things slowly become focused around Devon and how she impacts his life. Devon is an emotional character, especially for those of us raised by highly driven, high expectation mothers finding out that real life rarely works out according to our well thought out, detailed plans. I love her confidence, and really identify with her need to always be in control of herself. Rhett’s ability to help her lose a little of that control while making sure she feels safe doing it makes him the perfect man for her.
Favorite Quotes:
“She is straight laced and steady, and sweet fuck, do I want to be the one she unravels for.”
“No one tells me waht to do.” “No one else tells you what to do.” He pulls me to standing, steadying me with a hand on my low back. “But you listen when I talk. If you would let your mind rest for just a minute,” he drops his voice lower, speaks more slowly, “I think you’ll find you enjoy doing what I tell you.”
“This is one night. It doesn’t mean anything.” “We were never going to be just one night. And it means everything.”
Tropes: Opposites Attract Only One Bed Carpenter x Interior Designer Trailer Daddy Truth or Dare No 3rd Act Break Up
This is the second book in the Heartbeats in the Heat series, but could be read as a standalone if needed. I did not read Voyeur Cafe, and was still able to follow along with the characters from that story. This was a really cute opposites attract, contemporary romance set in Palm Springs. Devon Blake is more than capable of managing her own design firm, and pushes herself to succeed no matter what. Devon is a strait-laced interior designer who doesn't want to date anyone in her industry, until she meets a trouble making carpenter named Rhett McCoy. Sweet talking, southern boy Rhett is determined to push her buttons and make her unravel. One impromptu first date leaves Rhett wanting more and Devon doing her best to not get entangled with the new carpenter in town. Headed towards a burnout, and with a little plotting from her friends, Devon finds herself stuck with Rhett on a two-week design project...but will she be able to resist him or break a rule for once in her life?
The characters in How Dare You are so well-written and endearing! I loved how Devon has such a tough, grumpy exterior, but deep down she cares about her friends and her business. She is incredibly hard-working and passionate, and felt so invested in her story. Despite her best efforts, Devon's fledgling design business is struggling, and she is desperately trying to keep everything afloat all on her own. Rhett is the trope I did not know I needed....and that is a trailer daddy! He is confident, charming, understanding, perceptive, and has a take charge attitude that just perfectly balances out Devon's personality. And boy is he ever committed to making her unravel! Aside from this, Devon and Rhett could not be more supportive of one another, and I think that's what is really special about their story. They are exactly what the other needs and deserves, and their chemistry was so well crafted. This is low angst, and delivers on both the swoon-worthy and the tantalizingly spicy!
The twist on the forced proximity and one bed felt super fresh, and I appreciated how Devon's friends were willing accomplices in pushing her to take the break she so desperately needed. She honestly has a phenomenal friend group and not only could I vividly picture them in my mind, I wanted to hang out with them! Without giving anything away, I loved how Devon and her friends rallied to save her business, which had me cheering them on!
Thank you to the author for making this ARC available. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Book 2 in the Heartbeats in the Heat series!! Welcome back to Palm Springs!!!!! HUGE thanks to Jasmine Grace for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review, I really enjoyed this book and already can't wait for the next one!!
Opposite attract / Trailer daddy / One bed / He falls first / Builds a house for her
We know Devon from book one, she is the high tension work-a-holic interior designer in the friend group. One adventurous night and a few drinks later, Devon finds herself lip-locked with mysterious and attractive Rhett. Until she freaks out and literally runs away wet and naked. And the cherry on top comes the next morning when she realizes that Rhett is the new carpenter in town. Right away Rhett is all in, he trying to win her over. But Devon has a strict rule about not dating co-workers, she is also working too much and her friends are starting to notice. Her friends notice so much, they drop her off in the desert at Rhetts trailer for a "vacation". Honestly 2 weeks of hiding without anyone being able to bother you sounds like a blessing and a curse.
Those two-ish weeks allow Rhett and Devon to grow closer, physically and emotionally. Devon finally gives into Rhett (aka Trailer Daddy) and things heat up quickly. The one bed doesnt help much with that either ;) But bliss must come to an end, and it ends quickly when a false and negative article is published about Devon and her company.
4.5 /5 stars & 2/5 Steam
"You don't need me to tell you how beautiful you are. That was what had me at first, but seeing you put him in his place was even better"
"You're doing a solid job at Cactus street, so I trust you can handle this" "Mama, I can handle anything you throw at me"
"My days are always better when I get to talk to you"
"Just one night" "That's what you think"
"After tonight, I won't come to you again, but you will come to me. And you will beg me for more"
"This man has been drooling over me for months. There has to be a way to make him snap"
I MEAN.... The book cover was so fitting How dare you make me love this book? A great balance of sexy with sophistication & style.
Our FMC is an interior designer out on her own, new business owner, making her mark on the world - one fantastically satisfied customer at a time. Until jealousy within the design community threatens her livelihood & name.
Our MMC is a carpenter who is fairly new to town. He is trying to find what matters in his life until his focus shifts to the only thing that matters and will do everything that he can to show her.
This story was so fun!!! I love a well-meaning, golden retriever 'esque male main character. Rhett was patient, kind-hearted, and determined with his pursuit of Devon. While Devon has a very type A personality, she is a 'by the book' type of woman who always does what is expected of her, on time, & by follows her schedule to a T. Rhett knew that she needed to find her own way to him; which in turn meant she needed to figure out how to get out of her own way. Rhett knew that this was what was needed in order for that relationship to have a chance to work. He gave her the choice & the power. That was awesome
I really liked the White Board / Journal / Planner start to every chapter. I loved the meddling friends aspect. That's always a pleasure to read.
The author did an excellent job with character development, building chemistry, and drawing me in. I wanted to know how the drama around them unfolded. I was invested in how Rhetts house was coming along. I was swooning & giggling at all the flirting & games. It was so well done.
Thank you, Jasmine, for an advanced copy! It was such a pleasure to read!!!
I was so excited for Devon and Rhett’s story as soon as I finished Voyeur Café and got to know about them! Devon is a interior designer who doesn’t mix business with pleasure or that’s what she thought until she met the new trouble maker carpenter Rhett who’s determined to see her unravel.
Devon is a strong FMC who works too much and has a soft spot for her lovely friends.. Rhett is an amazing and unproblematic MMC who knows what and who he wants and isn’t shying away from it!
I throughly enjoyed reading about this two and how their relationship developed! The chemistry and tension are awesome and I love how Rhett became Devon’s safe place where she can stop thinking and just be.. because she knows she’s safe with him.. one of my fav moments was when she realized that being around him doesn’t drain her.. the banter between this two ? Soooooo good!!!
The friends group plays such a big role and I love the found family aspect in this book because it’s so beautiful how everyone cares for each other and is there the second someone needs help…
This book as a whole is amazing and the plot was so interesting! If you’re up for a spicy romcom with no third act break up you should totally pick up this book and obviously Voyeur Café so you won’t miss out on this heartwarming friendships!!
📚How Dare You by Jasmine Grace 📖Pages: 289 📗 Genre: Romance ⭐4/5 🔥3/5 📝CAWPILE: 51/70 💥 Read Dates: 06/04/24 through 06/07/24
Synopsis: When the strong and silent Devon meets the strangely cheery Rhett, she doesn't know how to feel. It's not like her to go for a drink with a stranger, or trespass, or... well, do anything she did that night. She writes it off as an off day, but can't stop thinking about it. And then her one off night walks onto her job site, and she can no longer escape it.
Review: Thank you SO much to Jasmine for the ARC copy, here's my quick disclaimer that all of my thoughts in this review are all my own.
I really enjoyed this book! This was one that I kept picking right back up when I could! This book is a second in a series of standalones (though, context definitely helps) and it was very well done! I loved seeing more about the characters, and while one of the specific tropes wasn't my thing I still had a great time reading it, which, to me signals a great book. It's upbeat and fun, there's good banter, and juuuust the right amount of stubbornness! I would definitely recommend this book!
“…the kind of sky you can’t help but fall in love under.”
Jasmine Grace did it again.
My absolute favorite thing about the two amazing books she’s written is that she’s able to create tension and drive to her plot without heavy angst. I’m someone who typically likes a little angst and strain in a romance book, but Jasmine just finds a way to fill in that role with sexual tension and slow burn.
I was a huge fan of “Voyeur Café” so I jumped at the chance to read “How Dare You” early. The same vibes in her first book found their way into this one but 10x better. The author really has found such a refreshing and invigorating writing style, so much so that she’s become one of my, “will read whatever she writes” author.
I loved Rhett and the way he treats Devon without trying to change her personality to fit his. Devon is a dedicated work horse that really needed someone like Rhett to come barreling into her life - I would read 3+ books just about them and I’m really sad to see them go.
Wow! I absolutely loved everything about this book! The storyline and characters are so well written and developed! This is Jasmine’s second book in the Heartbeats in the Heat series and I already cannot wait to be back in Palm Springs!
I am not usually a fan of FMC being the grumpy one but this was so well done and I actually really enjoyed it! I loved that all of Devon’s friends joined in and forced her to the a much needed break.
Rhett is so supportive and caring from the very start. He supported Devon even when she was grumpy and not wanting him around.
I absolutely loved Jasmine’s writing style and I am so excited to continue reading her books!
What to expect: - Banter - Standalone - Dual POV - Forced Proximity - One Bed - No 3rd Act Breakup - Grumpy x Sunshine
Thank you to Jasmine Grace for an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.
First off, I want to thank Jasmine for providing me with an arc of how dare you.
I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. I was hooked from the very beginning. The chemistry between the two MCs (Devon and Rhett) is obvious from the beginning even if Devon makes Rhett works for it 😏 The banter between those two was unmatched 🤩
I love how Rhett offers Devon a place where she can learn that she doesn’t have to be perfect all the time, because no one is, and that it’s okay to do the « wrong thing » sometimes.
Once again, Jasmine blows my mind away by writing the most unproblematic hot as f*ck MMC (she almost had me forget that Rhett has blond hair .. 👀).
One thing I particularly love about her books is that she doesn’t write third act break up, and the drama never concerns the couple, but they do work to solve it together.
You don’t have to read book 1 (Voyeur café) to read this one, but I would highly recommend you do. It’s as amazing as How dare you. No third act break ups, amazing MCs and side characters (who we will also see in book 2..) 👀
Devon has a leather planner she writes every single meeting, event, and to-do down in. She’s a perfectionist, always does the responsible thing, and never, ever dates anyone in her industry. She’ll do whatever it takes to make her interior design company a success. Despite her best efforts, her business is struggling and the last thing she wants to do is burden her friends.
Enter Rhett. A trouble-making carpenter, full of charm and patience, determined to loosen her up… and push her buttons. (And make her call him Daddy.)
They have great chemistry and tension. The storytelling is great, the cast of supporting characters are all wonderful. The romance is sweet and spicy. Despite all of the drama in the design world Devon is a victim of, this is pretty low angst and a very enjoyable read.
How Dare You comes out tomorrow, June 20! I think you could read it as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first in this series, Voyéur Cafe!
Let me introduce you to your new Trailer Daddy, Mr. Rhett McCoy 😈
Y'all, this book was amazing!! Devon and Rhett have incredible chemistry throughout the entire story and the fact that there is no third act breakup is even better!! The character growth, the chemistry, the banter, the nicknames, everything was so well written. I loved every moment of this book!
Devon is an interior designer that never fails. She makes sure of it. She works nonstop so when Rhett gets her to live a little one night, it throws her off and she leaves. Rhett wins her services for 2 weeks in an auction for charity and since Devons friends think she needs a break, throwing her in the desert with Rhett in his airstream trailer sounds like a good idea. However, Devons business is struggling (no one knows this except Rhett) and she really should be working to save it.
Two weeks in the desert with Rhett is more than she bargained for but the outcome is worth it.
I would read Jasmine Grace's grocery list at this point. I LOVE her writing style and her story telling abilities.
How Dare You is an incredible second installment to the Heartbeats in Heat series.
If you were looking for the poster children for the black cat x golden retriever dynamic let me introduce you to Devon and Rhett. I absolutely love a reverse grumpy sunshine dynamic!
The way Rhett loves Devon is just so beautiful, as a woman who has been told she is hard to work with, not soft enough etc. it was so beautiful to see a person like me have such a beautiful love story. It was also so great to see Rhett love her just as she is, knowing there's nothing wrong with being a strong independent person.
I cannot wait for the next book !!!!!! I just absolutely love the little-found family that Jasmine Grace has created within her characters in her books. It is so beautiful to be a part of.
I’m can’t express how much I needed a book like this!! This was the definition of golden retriever x black cat characters!!
Rhett has officially been added to my book boyfriend list and Devon is definitely someone to be inspired by. There were moments when her aloofness made me want to reach inside the book and shake her. But of course Rhett managed to chip away at her granite walls.
This was such a great read and I’m so excited to read more from Jasmine Grace!
A love a romance novel with no 3rd act breakups because it proves that communication goes a long way in a relationship and these two were really freaking good at communicating…..in the end 😂😂
I simply adored everyone in their friend circle and it’s so exciting knowing we’ll get to see more of these characters.
The epilogue made me squeal with happiness!! It was perfect 😍
This book was such a joy to read from start to finish and I couldn’t put it down! I love that it started with them immediately meeting and in such a fun and sweet way to kick off their story!
These two are such great characters and suit each other so well. Rhett completely gets Devon straight away and I think they’re such a good match for one another. I really enjoying seeing their relationship develop and see Devons walls slowly come down and let herself enjoy being with Rhett. She’s such a strong character, is so hardworking and i absolutely love her
I’m so in love with Rhett🥹🫶 he’s so funny, such an angel and I just really love that he keeps a journal where he writes the best thing that happened to him that day and most of the time its to do with Devon😭
Loved seeing Allie, Luke, Betty and all the other characters again!
I absolutely adore this world that Jasmine Grace has created and I love her writing style, thank you so much for having me as part of your ARC team💕
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of How Dare You and just loved it. Voyeur Cafe was the first in Jasmine Grace’s Heartbeat in the Heat series, but you do not need to read it first to enjoy How Dare You. I am someone who loves the banter between the love interests and this delivers 100%. I love Jasmine’s writing style, it sucked me into the book from the beginning of chapter one. If you’re someone who loves romance, romance coms, strong independent women, witty banter, and strong/sensitive/sexy men, you need to read this. I was in a reading slump and this was the perfect love story to get me back into reading. It was fun, heartwarming, sweet and just enough spice to keep you drooling. Loved it, definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good love story.
A huge thank you to Jasmine Grace for the ARC opportunity with How Dare You. Devon and Rhett's book is fun, flirty, and full of banter guaranteed to make you smile and laugh. This book is very much black cat/golden retriever energy with Devon being more cautious and standoffish while Rhett is always offering help to friends, chatting with people, and going with the flow.
After a chance first meeting, Devon runs off and cuts off contact with Rhett. Devon's business, however, is struggling, and she finds herself putting in long hours with no breaks as the owner while running into Rhett at many jobsites. With the help of her friends (yay seeing Allie and Luke from Voyeur Cafe again!), she ends up staying with Luke while helping him work on his house and the two banter, bicker, and come together in more ways than one.
Spicy, funny, and sweet with a one-bed trope, no third-act breakup, and a fun setting, this second novel of the series really hits in a great summer read kind of way.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one after reading Voyeur Cafe and it definitely did not disappoint. I will say it was a little slow to start in my opinion. I would have liked to have seen Devon and Rhett dive into their attraction a little sooner, but that's definitely a personal preference. The chemistry between them was off the charts though and I loved how Rhett was diligent in his attention to Devon. Letting her see his love and devotion to her without fail. I like how Jasmine throws in a little angst with Trina as well. This keeps it a little more exciting and gives a sense of anticipation wondering when all the deceit will be revealed. Overall a 5 star read and I will be impatiently waiting for Book 3!
