This is Book 3 of the Charassi's Fae Queen series, as high Queen Orphelia battles to save the land from the former queen's ambitions and plots. Ava Richardson has been one of my favourite authors, but I think that this new series may be her best yet. The plot is just fantastic. Orphelia is just a beautifully developed character - so likeable with spunk. The other main characters are endearing and well developed including Corrin, Sunny and River. Parts of the story are moving - I think this might be the first book by this author that moved me to tears. Others are heart warming and amusing. This is just a great series from the start to finish. 5/5 stars.

Preparing for Battle . . .

In this book, we see the depth of Ophelia’s struggle in making the choices she must make. She clearly realizes each of those choices has serious consequences, and she wants to do the right thing. Dowager Queen Emalda continues with her relentless murderous behavior without remorse as her killing sprees destroy innocent people. Ophelia, her bonded dragon Sunny, and Corrin realize they need to seek the powerful magic of the First Artifact if they have any hope of stopping her. The trials along the way will not be comfortable and may require betrayal of loved ones. But Ophelia knows she must make those decisions for the greater good despite the personal sacrifice. Corrin is doing his part to form a strong alliance with the dragons to assist in the fight. But he will have the difficult task of proving himself to them. Personal sacrifice is the theme of these challenges. Are they strong enough to do what they must in order to prevail against Emalda’s power? Do they have a chance of winning this battle? And will the losses have been at too great a cost?

The narrator for the audiobook version, Mago Weston, brings the “reading” experience alive for the listener. She does a good job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the reader with the characters, and offers a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

Of Quests and Epic Battles

Audiobook Review:
This is the third installment of a well-written, delightful dragon fantasy series. This book is all about quests (one for the hero, one for the heroine) and the ultimate epic battle that the heroine, hero, and their forces must wage against his evil queen mother. I appreciate how this author writes long and complex tales you don't want to stop listening to! I read and listen to both long and short books, and it's so pleasant to have a book to really sink your teeth into, one with so much plot and character development as well as action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. While novellas are popular for writers these days, they often lack the details that make reading so satisfying and keep us coming back again and again to well-written books and authors who know how to write them!

I was glad to see that the heroine didn't make as many bad, impulsive decisions as she did in the last book! Yes, she's very noble and puts her people and the creatures she cares about above herself, but in the prior book, she endangered herself far too often and with little thought. In her quest (a large part of the first section of the book), she explores her strengths and weaknesses and comes out stronger for it. Defeating the villain requires a profound sacrifice, but she weighs her options—even has a possible creative solution—not acting from impulsivity but from a conscious, well-thought-out choice. I love that! The magic in this particular world is fascinating—weaving together various types of energy as appropriate for what you want to happen—and I enjoyed watching the heroine continue to refine her ability to wield it.

The author does an excellent job creating the near-end climactic scenes where it truly does appear as though all is lost—or at least some--but then has it all work out in a way that makes so much sense given the world and characters she has created. This book had several such moments when it seemed like important characters were beyond the point of no return. Artifacts and those who made them are so much a part of this story; this aspect only enriched my enjoyment and deepened my understanding of this world’s magic. I played the original version of the Talisman game before the turn of the millennium, and much of this book and series reminds me of it, including the use of artifacts, spells, magic that doesn’t always work as it should, and even the dragons themselves! (It was an expansion pack.) I'm interested to see how the author shifts the focus in the next book of the series, as this book did end the entire arc about the hero’s villainous mother (and in a surprisingly thoughtful, compassionate way at the very end). The hero and heroine are well-crafted, likable characters, and I look forward to seeing where their adventures take them next!

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Woah, things are rough for Corrin… his newly bonded dragon is partially unmade… poor River, I love her so much!!! But now he has to be blindfolded and silenced because that bitch of a mother is always listening through his bond with River. It’s heartbreaking. Still, I know they’ll find a way to save River—I have to believe it. And I’m holding on to hope for Sunny too…

Fucking hell, Ophelia really had to put on her big girl pants this time. The choices she made? Ruthless, heavy, and painful. Not the kind of decisions a normal human girl ever expects to face—but now she’s the High Fae Queen, and heavy truly is the crown.

Holy fuuuuckkkk!!!!! Aaaaaaaah it was PUUURRFECT!!!! The battle was brutal and EPIC. Ophelia was incredible, and Corrin too—plus, the dragons!!! Everything was just flawless. I knew I was going to love this series, and I was absolutely right. I’m sooo happy for Sunny and River!!! It’s crazy how much joy I feel for fictional characters, but that’s how powerful the writing is—the author makes us completely immersed. Corrin’s mother is finally dead, and he was the one to end her, but in a way I never expected. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine a better ending for her. Now I’m dying to know what comes next—because what could possibly be worse than his mother?

I also love how Ophelia’s family is so supportive of her. It makes me reflect—would mine be the same? Either way, I can’t deny I’d trade everything to live in a magical world, bonded to a dragon and tangled up with a hot fae prince. Damn, that girl is living the dream, hahaha.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster—angsty, brutal, and beautiful at the same time. The characters keep growing, the battles are breathtaking, and the author manages to balance heartbreak with hope in a way that leaves you craving more

I so enjoyed this series! The more I read Ava's books, the more I'm hooked. Every series is different, every character unique. I've come to rely on Ava to take me on a fabulous fantasy ride! I love the way she develops the characters, growing them throughout, adding new and exciting characters along the way. One such is the delightful Millie.
The addition of Millisandre brought a smile to my face, her excited personality lit up the pages, her enthusiastic exuberant.
Corrin went from being a pompous arrogant wannabe King, with good intentions mind you, to a character I really liked. All his efforts were to stop his mother from destroying all he loved, his people and his kingdom. That he fell in love with Ophelia along the way, just adds to the adventure. His support of Ophelia to reclaim her rightful place, leads him once again to the snarky Dragons. Corrin's only chance to get the Dragons on their side is to outsmart them and he does that in a spectacular manner.

Meanwhile Ophelia has her own challenges on her journey. What dreadful choices Ophelia has to make, time and time again but the choice she made for the Dragons evoked an Awww from me. Coming from the human world, bonding with the soul of a dead Dragon, acceptance of who she's destined to be, is in itself daunting. Yet she manages superbly, all whilst coming into a magic she had no idea she possessed, consolidating her bond with Sunny, who by the way is a sheer delight, and to fall in love with the person who propelled her into this new life. I loved the drama and tension, which kept me really vested and engaged. I love that with every Ava series there's always a HEA.

Dragons, Fae, magic, nefarious rulers, ultimate battles and a need to protect all come together in this remarkable series.

Excellent in So Many Ways

This review is not only for this book, it is for the three books that make up the trilogy. I have not accomplished much as these books are near impossible to put down. Be careful if you decide to read them as you will be pulled into a fantasy world of dragons, fairies, fae, pixies, and more, with humans called to seek out their true callings. The books are full of sentient beings and creatures along with the sociopathic beings and creatures that would bring darkness and death to all to become immortal or to be the most powerful. The books take you through the gambit of all emotions. Because the author, Ava Richardson, writes with words that invoke the feelings to come off the pages and into ones heart.

The plot is unique as well as the characters. There are plenty of plot twists and a lot of surprises. These books are excellently written without swearing, obscene words, or explicit sexual acts. There is violence because there is war and those that want to overpower others and there is death. However, it is not graphic.

Oh, and there is A LOT of MAGIC!

This is the third book of the series. We are back again in Charassi's, where Emalda the Blasphemer, the Undying, seized the throne and is actively trying to get to the First Artifact.

This book is for those, who's been waiting for the final part of the story for those who love Charassi and adores Ophelia and her dragon, Cortin and other beautiful characters.

There are a lot of difficulties, a lot of trials that main characters are going through. Sometimes the results are heartbreaking, we can see how Ophelia struggles with her choices, how every choice she makes has consequences. The author pays a lot of attention to inner struggles of main characters and we can see how they choose their path.

I was impressed with Corrin and his actions toward his mother.

I recommend this book to everyone who likes epic fantasies. And dragons of course. In this book we can see a lot of those magnificent creatures.

It was definitely 5* for me!.

The final instalment of the Charassi trilogy is here and is an excellent read!

Our heroine and hero have to grow up very quickly and make life-changing decisions throughout this tale, but the most difficult ones will forever mark their souls.

As the story unfolds, Emalda's atrocities seem never-ending, and both Ophelia and Corrin struggle to see their way through the aftermath of her killing spree. There are humorous moments and joy I grew especially fond of Milly, but there are also moments of great sadness and times when my heart was in my mouth.

There is plenty of action, Emalda's monsters are formidable, but Ophelia, Corrin, and their allies are determined to battle through.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am happy to recommend the whole series. If you love dragons, you will love this.

The Stolen Palace by Avery Richardson is another outstanding example of her ability to create fantastic coming of age stories involving Dragon riders. The story is a perfect conclusion to her most recent trilogy. The characters growth throughout the story is spectacular as they face joys and sorrows. However most importantly as they face impossible decisions and rise to meet the consequences of those decisions. I now eagerly await to see what Ava Richardson will do next now that she has created one of her finest works The Stolen Palace.

Great Series! 4.5!

What a wonderful series! Great job Ava! I wholeheartedly enjoyed this series! One of the things that I REALLY enjoy about Ava is that unlike many other authors, she is fond of the trilogy. The thing that is great about a trilogy IMHO is that it LITERALLY has a beginning (book 1), a middle (book 2) and an end (book 3). The wonderful thing about this as far as I am concerned is that as crazy and the storyline can get, you KNOW that there is a resolution coming, one way or the other. Ava has a wonderful knack of throwing awesome plot twists and turns that keep a reader riveted!

I hope that you enjoy this series as much as I did!

From the beginning to the end, Corrin and Ophelia seem to keep you captivated with the adventures they must each take part in. Thei will, trust, loyalties, and every other part of them will be tested to their limits. Will they each be able to complete their missions and end the reign of Corrin's mother before she takes the life out of every realm that Charassi is connected to. In order to understand this final book, you will need to read the first 2 in the series for Charassi's Fae Queen.

This is book three in the series. I received this from Netgalley in exchange for my review. I really enjoyed this series. This book might be my favorite. Ophelia and Corrin must try to unlock the sacred scroll to defeat Emalda, the former queen. In doing so, she must face trials that really challenge her. I found this to be full of action and I love how the characters really strengthen. We really get to see Ophelia's full potential. I love that this is dual pov, so you really get to see what's going on in both characters minds. Overall, I really enjoyed this series.

Dragon Riders

I liked reading this series. The banter between Sunny and O was fun to read. Corrin and River seemed well suited and not as surly as the other dragons. The story was interesting, and I liked the way Ophelia made her own choices despite the consequences. The other magical creatures like the nymphs, unseelie, and the deer like creatures added to the vision of a magical realm full of colourful Fae creatures in need of protection from the evil former Queen. The way they honoured their fallen was sacred and memorable. I will be reading more by this author.

Audiobook - the same excellent narration with great voices and feelings.
Story - 4.25 stars. The third part of a very enjoyable series, with the expected final epic battle against evil. Ophelia showed a lot of growth in this book, learning to balance the needs of the many instead of rushing in without thinking to save the few. The ending worked well within the world building. This felt like it was originally the end of a trilogy, but as there are more books available, it will be interesting to see what adventures there will be next.

What an awesome journey to get to this final book!! All the waiting, sacrifices, struggles, and pain of all the characters comes to it's penultimate fruition !! Corrins evil mother continues her destruction of all he holds dear while Olivia starts to doubt herself and her morals. There are new friends, returning allies and on-the-edge-of-your-seat thrills until the very last page!!
I received an advanced copy.

This was a heart thumping third book to end the series and the way that the entire plot was formed made everything great! The world-building was continued and the characters were such a driving force. The romance part was super sweet too! I could especially feel the frustrations and fear of the characters which was good since it made me relate to them more. A great fantasy and one I’m glad to have read!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to listen to and read this book as an ARC.
This is book number 3 in the collection and I would highly recommend reading the first two before reading this book. The continuation of Ophelia and Cortin and the battle for the throne. This is a great final piece to the puzzle. I would recommend this book if you have read the first two and if you are into fantasy.

Very satisfying conclusion to this 3-volume book. Even includes a few nicely written passages and a few inspiring ones about leadership, death, sacrifice, honor and redemption.
As with the previous 2 books, this one really needs a copy editor (see notes).
