It’s 1989. Illegal raves are happening, and Ecstasy use is out of control. When ravers start dying, undercover cops are sent to infiltrate the chaotic, deadly scene. Over a decade later their actions will come back to haunt them. In a succession of terrifying, life changing events both physical and moral judgements will be tested and challenged. There was only ever going to be one winner. But can they be caught twice?
This is a completely new author for me and all I can say is why didn't I find these books sooner?! The story begins in the time of illegal raves, when parties and drugs were all the rage in the 80's. It then moves to the present, which in the book is 2002. This is the point when DI Ziggy Thorne and his team come in. I quite liked Thorne and his team of investigators. They are an interesting group of characters. The story is well written, twisty and engaging. I found the plot exciting and I found myself devouring the book in one go. There was plenty of fast paced action and nail biting suspense to keep me going and utterly hooked, right from the beginning. Even though this is Book 4 in the series, I didn't feel like I was missing out by not having read the first three. I will definitely be going back and reading them as I enjoyed this one so much.
The first book by this author and I was very impressed. The first third, written back in the days of raves when the pov cop was undercover, was superb. The current day investigation, linked with his previous undercover work, was interesting too, but I felt at the end that stuff was happening just to make it more thrilling and tense, and didn’t always make much logical sense. Apart from that, absolutely fabulous.
This was a well written story and I love how we are thrown into it, from the very beginning and then with a lot of action and mystery, we get introduced to a variety of interesting characters that shape the entire storyline. Then back to the incident at start of book and how Thornes and his team unravel the who and why. A few twists and turns will keep you guessing. Definitely a must read.
Definitely not a book I would normally read but so glad I did. Full of twists and turns, really had me just wanting to keep reading. It is the 4th book in the series but can be read on its own. It took me away from my normal romance stories I read.
