This was a nice second chance, small town story between Millie who’s a runaway, hiding out in a small town from her abusive ex. And her one night stand six years ago on holiday in Ibiza, Jack the resort/restaurant investor who just happens to own the bar in the small town Millie escapes to.
They have a chance of rekindling their romance with the one person neither of them could stop thinking about.
It comes with some complications, miscommunication and a past that still haunts Millie.
This was a nice debut by the author. Was it what I expected. Maybe not. Way to tame for me but if you’re a small town romance girl then this is for you.

wooooow.. please check trigger warnings before going into this one as it’s quite heavy.
i loved jack and emily’s connection. you see them meet in ibiza 6 years ago, experience an unreal connection & spend the day together before Em flees back home. in this time jump, Em meets her current (ex) boyfriend and experiences a lot of trauma.
one day, she finally has enough and runs away. she ends up in this small beach town and runs into (you guessed it) jack, and works at his bar. their connection comes back immediately and you see their story grow from here.
i won’t add anymore spoilers (though if you read the book it’s obvious where the book will go) but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. though i did love the side characters and the little town in general.
my only issue with this book is the writing style / maybe grammar used in this book. unnecessarily long paragraphs, strange dialogue. this book could be a solid 5 star if the editing process was improved, but overall i really enjoyed.

First thing first I really like Bekki's Vowles writing!! It was an easy reading for me and I could say that I really enjoyed the plot of the book. That said I will now start to explain the plot and why everyone has to read it.
The story starts with a woman that is in an abusive relationship and she escapes from it at the very start. As we all know even if you go as far as possible the psychological trauma will always be there. This story is set in England and the female character, Emily or Millie moved out of her family house and out of her abusive boyfriend of 6 years. After that she's all alone. At least she thinks. She eventually bump into a guy he met in Ibiza 6 years ago but she's doesn't put much in it. She finds a job and her new boss is the guy she knew. Soon enough she has panic attacks and she passed out, and he of course, as a gentlemen he is, takes her to his home so he can keep and eye on her. Her bruises are not only visible but she also has a broken rib. One thing lead to another and they end up together. But faith always has other plans. The guy named jack, aka her boss / boyfriend, owns a hotel and other things as a club. On day there is an arson at his club and guess who is behind it. The abusive boyfriend named Glen it is. He wanted to take revenge because millie not only left but kick him out of her childhood home by selling it. Glen finds out where millie moved and decided to take a gun and threatened to kill her and Jack's sister Em. The hotel security comes and everything is set to be okay!!
I would recommend it to everyone and I give it a 4,5/5 🌟 because I really hate Glen and what he did and I got a little sad after reading that men think they can do whatever they want to their partners.

*** to start off this review, i’m letting you know that i prefer going into most books blind…but i will say, for this book, i do recommend looking at the trigger warnings first just to make sure it’s a fit for you. ***
now, here are my thoughts💭:
•the book cover is stunning!
•i am a sucker for a “he falls first” in a multi pov book so i was excited when i saw these in the tropes list.
•bekki’s writing style and the heavier aspects of the story made me want to take my time reading this one, which in turn made the experience better in my opinion. (sure, you can sit and binge this book, but i feel like it was better at a slower pace)
•i actually love the small beach town setting and the side characters too!
•overall, i really liked this one and thought the entire storyline was interesting and it kinda kept me on my toes. i’m getting the 3.5-4⭐️ feeling for this book!
•if you feel like you can handle a book with the trigger warnings that are in this one, i would recommend reading it!

Thank you Love Notes PR for the ARC
I really wanted to support the author as this is her debut. But it just wasn’t very good in my opinion.
First of all, I feel like the FMC is always drunk and making stupid decisions because she was drunk and never learning from her mistakes. This is just a bit poor taste in my mouth.
Second, the POV of the secondary characters are redundant and don’t add any value to story. I feel like they are just there to increase the number of spicy scenes.
Third, the retelling of the same scenes from multiple POVs is really annoying I had to skip because they just weren’t interesting at all.
Lastly, the romance is so bad… the instant love/lust is so cringy and I rolled my eyes so many times while reading this… the takeaway I got from reading this book is that sex fixes all emotional trauma 🙄
I normally devour a spicy book this length in a couple of days, but this took me a whole week…
Do yourself a favour and skip this one…

I Dreamt of You is about a woman who fled a relationship that was abusive and found a new life. I had enjoyed reading a Bekki Vowles book for the first time.
Everything about Millie and Jack interaction seemed lovely to me. It all began on the first night Millie worked at the pub, and it continued from there in their relationship with Jack. The 'Big Event' at the end of the book was obvious.

Millie has a one day stand 6 years ago and has the courage to leave her abusive relationship. She starts over in a new town with absolutely nothing and runs into that same man from 6 years ago.
Overall feelings, a 3 based on the fact this is a debut novel. Good storyline, I liked the characters. I wish this would have been shorter, the time jumps weren’t well labeled, the beginning was just confusing, and the povs towards the end overlapped in a not great way.
This does have promise though, I would read her next book!

What can I say?! I feel so privileged to have been able to read this before release! And I can’t wait to see if there is more to the story of these people! I’m sooooo excited to know Millie, jack, em and Dan more! This book was amazing and I loved it Bekki you have such an amazing mind and I cannot wait to read more!! Thank you for this opportunity 💜

Damn this book was amazing! The suspense, the emotions, the hardships, the growth in character and the passion!
Overall an amazing story and the writing was beautiful and easy to read. That said I did think some of the paragraphs were unnecessarily long.
I would recommend the book to everyone who is open to read it but check the trigger warnings because there are some heavy topics.

The writing style of this book is amazing. I love dual-POV, so this was a perfect story for it. I enjoy longer paragraphs, so that is something to keep in mind.

literally got to like chapter 3 and a half and could not continue any further it was so so bad. it makes the woman leaving her DV relationship look “weak” for running when he’s not able to catch her? weird…
it also has a time skip of some sort that’s not explained very well.
then the love interest and her hookup after he saves her from being SA’d while drunk, after they’ve known each other for like 20 minutes and they’re acting like they’re in love.
also was not a fan of the writing style at all. forcing myself to read this was like forcing myself to lick sand paper.

I went into this one blindly and based on the cover, thought it was a ‘runaway bride’ book. I recommend checking the trigger warnings.
Millie is starting again. Leaving behind an abusive relationship, she finds herself in a small beach town. Turns out Jack, a man she shared a ‘one-day-stand’ many years ago, is a big name there. Will she find the strength to move on from her past? Could she find comfort in Jack?
I wanted to support the author since this is her debut novel but there were some things I couldn’t get over. The writing style wasn’t my favorite. The sentences were too long which made them confusing and hard to follow:
“I grab my suitcase and take one last look at what I have called home for the last four years with that man, and a lifetime of memories from my family home.”
“Yeah, you did, look if you don’t mind I have to go, I need to find a job today, so I need to get going.”
“He’s on his way, don’t worry, you won’t be stuck with just me for much longer, so how long are you in the country for this time?”
I feel like some of these quotes could be broken into 3 to 4 sentences. The whole novel lacks some serious editing and it feels too long for what I got in return. I also never really connected with any of the characters and they didn’t feel real.
Tropes:
Some of the tropes I enjoyed here were secret boss and he-falls-first. The author does a good job of writing the small-town part!
But then there’s the insta-love part which is one of my least favorite tropes in books. And I mean INSTA-love where they knew each other for a day 6 years ago and as soon as they see each other he acts as if he knows her every thought:
“Well, yeah I only knew her for one day, a fucking great day, but even so, something’s not right, I can just feel it.”
There’s definitely potential with the storyline and the tropes but the whole package doesn’t deliver well. Since this is the author’s debut novel, I believe she will grow in the genre and I’m curious to see what she does next!

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book, but I can assure you that my expectations were not only met but exceeded!
I feel like, throughout the entire read, I was holding my breath. I went from happiness to sadness in the blink of an eye, and I think I managed to feel all kinds of emotions that the author wanted to convey. It was the kind of book that made me easily lose track of time, but the issue of domestic violence was so well portrayed and so prevalent that I feel like it took me an eternity to process all the information Bekki was giving us.
One of the most emotional moments in this book, in my opinion, was when Millie told her story for the first time... I cried! 😭
I cried like I hadn't cried reading a book in a long time. I cried for Millie, cried with Millie, cried for Emma who was discovering everything, cried knowing that, unfortunately, these kinds of situations are not just someone's imagination, and cried realizing that Bekki had done a hell of a job writing such a dramatic, raw, and deeply felt scene in a very 'beautiful' way (if we can call it that). (and I think I'm crying again writing this)
Millie is truly a force of nature, and I think she embodies everything we like to see in a strong female character. Her determination to turn her life around after years of abuse is truly the 'breath of fresh air' in this book.
This book is beautifully written and had my emotions on a rollercoaster, but I wouldn't change a single thing!

It was the kind of book that made me easily lose track of time, but the issue of domestic violence was so well portrayed and so prevalent that I feel like it took me an eternity to process all the information Bekki was giving us.
One of the most emotional moments in this book, in my opinion, was when Millie told her story for the first time... I cried! 😭
I cried like I hadn't cried reading a book in a long time. I cried for Millie, cried with Millie, cried for Emma who was discovering everything, cried knowing that, unfortunately, these kinds of situations are not just someone's imagination, and cried realizing that Bekki had done a hell of a job writing such a dramatic, raw, and deeply felt scene in a very 'beautiful' way (if we can call it that). (and I think I'm crying again writing this)
Millie is truly a force of nature, and I think she embodies everything we like to see in a strong female character. Her determination to turn her life around after years of abuse is truly the 'breath of fresh air' in this book.
This book is beautifully written and had my emotions on a rollercoaster, but I wouldn't change a single thing!

After planning to leave a traumatic situation, Millie disappears to a random town to start over. She reminisces about a man she had spent an incredible day with six years ago when she was away on holiday. A holiday she took before meeting her (ex) boyfriend. Dreaming of the man she met had encouraged her to leave her current situation. Lo and behold, when she arrives in the town she's run away to, she runs into Jack.
I loved all the characters in the book. Millie, Jack, Em, Dan, Mike, etc. I absolutely loved that these people, without knowing who Millie is, was concerned for her safety and wellbeing from the start. Excitement, fear, anger, love, happiness, overwhelming support, and finally, retribution… all of the feelings I felt while reading this book, I Dreamt Of You. This book is beautifully written, well thought out and executed. When I read the blurb for this book before receiving a copy of it, I truly didn’t expect it to go so deep, but it did – and it was so good! (This book does have some domestic violence scenes, please be mindful if this is sensitive or triggering for you.)
I Dreamt Of You is written in the first person POV and shares multiple narrators, not just our two main characters, Millie and Jack. This is my first time reading from four different points of view, so it was new to me, but I enjoyed it! The majority of the book is written in the “present” time frame but there are chapters where our main characters think back on a past scene in their lives, which helps to build depth for the plot. In terms of structure and sequence, it was perfect, in my opinion. It’s set in the UK and Ibiza.
We begin with Millie running away from her abusive boyfriend – he’s beaten her for the last time and nearly killed her, she’s had enough. She moves to a different town neither Millie or Glen (abusive jerk) have been to, or mentioned before. When she arrives, it doesn’t take long for her to run in to someone from her past; someone who she spent an amazing day with years ago while on holiday with girlfriends in Ibiza. It’s definitely fate that brings Jack back in to Millie’s life but it takes her time to learn to trust again, and allow anyone to help her. It made me so angry to hear how Glen treated Millie, and degraded her. I was very proud of Millie’s character for making a plan to get out of there. I know it doesn’t always happen this way – where the abused gets away from the abuser – but it was really empowering to see her get away.
Jack. Man-bun. Broad shoulders and muscular body. Need I say more? Yes, let’s say more. Outside of his physical attributes, he’s truly a one-of-a-kind character and competes with many others to be labeled the #1 book boyfriend. The way he takes care of Millie and watches over her is quite charming, even if he was not described as smoking hot!
The climax of the book was so intense, I knew something was coming, but couldn’t guess this was what it would be! In the face of danger, Millie displays how much of a wonderful human being and friend she is as she sacrifices herself to save a friend – she left me in awe again, but by this point, I was no longer surprised.
Speaking of climax, there are some amazingly detailed intimate scenes mostly between Jack and Millie, but also one with Dan & Em. Phew! The scene with the green dress? This will live in my head, rent-free, forever. Trust me, it’s good!

Millie has built up the courage to escape her psycho boyfriend Glen, who has been evil monster to her for years, to the extent she has ended up in hospital on numerous occasions, and she has decided she has had enough. Its through dreams she has been having of Jack who she met for one perfect night in Ibiza 6 years prior, that is giving her the push to commit to getting away and start a new life.
She leaves everything behind, and ends up in a small town on the South Coast of England, to start afresh.
But by doing this, she ends up in a dingey flat, with no job and hardly any money. But eventually once she get to know some of the locals including the Estate Agent Emma, she is able to find herself a job working behind the bar of the local pub and before long finds another job at a local Hotel.
Not long after starting these jobs she meets the Owner, and cannot believe it when she discovers that it is none other than Jack, the man who she has been dreaming about and last saw in Ibiza all those years ago.
Jack can't believe it when he sees the woman who vanished without a trace after that sizzling night in Ibiza. But he can see that she is no longer the same person he saw all those years ago, and he is worried about her, and is determined to find out what has gone on since the last met. Jack discovers that Millie is covered in bruises, cuts and scars and wants to know why, but Millie is reluctant to say why they are there.

Then photos of them together are made public, with strange incidents starting to occur and cannot be explained. On top of this Millie has a constant feeling that she is being watched.
Just when Millie thinks she is safe, a dangerous situation arises, which puts the people she loves in danger, and she then decides to no longer run, and face the danger head on. But at what cost?
This story was breath-taking from the very beginning. It has tension, dark secrets, suspense, angst, spice, banter and keeps you guessing and wondering what is going to happen throughout. It certainly takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride!!
This story was so beautifully written and easy to read. Bekki is certainly one of my new favourite authors and cannot wait to read more in this series.

Jack, noticing her dire living conditions, offers help. Though resistant, Millie eventually stays with him. Their deep feelings, especially Jack's, evolve over time, but challenges test their relationship.

The 'insta-love' element isn't a personal favorite, but the underlying attraction and feelings compensate.
Despite being Bekki Vowles' first book, it's an enjoyable read. The suspense elements are present, contributing to the overall story. While the book delivers a nice, quick read emphasizing resilience, the inclusion of secondary character POVs was unnecessary for me.
“The way I feel about him, I never thought it would be possible, but he is everything.”
The book touches on resilience, emphasizing that one can start anew by facing fears despite circumstances. Millie and Jack find happiness, concluding Book One in The Protected series. Despite my minor critiques, it leaves me eager to see what’s next in the series.

I dreamt of you revolves around a woman who escaped an abusive relationship and found a new life. The book starts with Mille 's POV and her plan to leave her boyfriend aka abuser. The incident/day that gave Millie the strength to leave him and be her real self happened 6 years ago and it stuck with her since then. Then comes, Jack, our billionaire hero, Millie's personal brand of sunshine 🤷🏽♀️ The book shows how Millie escaped her past and moved on in her life. The title of the book does justify the story and the cover is minimalist. It is set in a small sea side town on top of a hill The book is written in multiple povs as in it has even povs of some of the side characters which felt unnecessary at times. I feel dual pov would have worked better. Also the ‘Big Event’ towards the last part of the book was predictable ( which is fine with me since it's a romance book) But the thing is that particular incident has been mentioned in the book from 4 person's povs which was absolutely unnecessary and felt repetitive. I mean reading about that incident five times was boring and at some point I wanted to skip it and move to the next thing/ conversation. But the first 75% of the book was engaging. I couldn't stop reading it. It has a lot of spicy scenes/smuts. I loved the side characters and their stories. The plot is good and writing is smooth. If you're into romance, you'll love it.
It's the first book of the series, so I'm already eagerly waiting for other parts .

This book was gripping from the start. It was heartbreaking and very hard at times, when Millie talks about her mental and physical abuse.
Millie is so strong to finally get the strength to escape. I loved that Jack, her one night stand was the reason she found strength to try and live again.
It was the dreams of Her one day stand with Jack that gave her the push.
Gosh Glen is an absolute evil monster.
When she chooses a random place to start again, she wasn't prepared to meet the one man she hasn't forgotten 6 years later. Jack was her new boss and new best friends brother.
Jack fell in love with her 6 years ago but she disappeared.
This is his chance to win her and keep her.
But can Millie trust another man and risk being broken again? Can she allow another man touch her again?
He was so protective and possessive over her. Their chemistry and spice was just fire. Oh the spice was hot, hot hot.
As hard as it was, I loved following Millie through the whole experience of trying to claim her life back. She is willing to be happy again. To see her getstronger was fantastic and emotional. Loved the new found family and she deserved it all.
Unfortunately her cr@zy ex wasn't going let her leave, he was willing to end her. Gosh all the drama, suspense and action around the end really had me on the edge!!!!

ARC BOOK REVIEW
This book was nothing like I anticipated at all. I certainly did not expect to cry, this book was extremely emotional and I'm not fully sure what Bekki put in this book but that plot is going to stay with me for quite some time. The book was a brilliant piece of work, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read it.
The book follows Millie, who escapes an extremely violent and abusive relationship and ends up moving to a small seaside town in the UK. There, she ends up reuniting with a one night stand that she has 6 years previously to the current moment named Jack and funnily turns out they had both been dreaming of one another for quite some time.
Millie is honestly the definition of a strong female character, her determination to turn her life around after being broken down into many scattered pieces and finding a whole lot of people who truly care for her from the second they meet. Reading about all of the things she had gone through in the past and present of the book was definitely tough to read, but it's the true reality of many people out in this world.
Surprisingly, although this book was very emotional, there was so much romance and spice that I personally didn't expect it to be that much. But it definitely fitted the plot that Bekki decided to go for, and I wouldn't change a single thing in this book. It has such a strong message, and I loved it.
I can't wait to see what other books Bekki writes for this series, I feel that they will be amazing and just a joy to read!

There was also POVs from Dan & Em in the book that I don’t feel were necessary in order to tell the story and made things a bit too broken up for me. That’s my reasoning for the 4 star rating. However that being said this was still a great story of escaping abuse, starting over, and finding the love you dream of. You could feel the pull of chemistry between Jack and Millie anytime they were near each other and the spice was hot. I loved the side characters and the found family aspect as well. I absolutely loved the book from the very beginning! The book was everything I expected and more! I relished the drama, the suspense, the action & especially the writing. The book was heartbreaking, steamy, spicy and inspiring all at the same time. It took me through a roller coaster of emotions & I absolutely enjoyed every second of it! I absolutely loved the book from the very beginning! The book was everything I expected and more! I relished the drama, the suspense, the action & especially the writing. The book was heartbreaking, steamy, spicy and inspiring all at the same time. It took me through a roller coaster of emotions & I absolutely enjoyed every second of it! I was absolutely loved the courage, hope & hardwork the FMC, Millie showed to claim her life back & life it the way she likes. ARC Review-
I Dreamt Of You is a multi POV story that tells the story of Millie and her escape from an abusive relationship as well as her journey in rediscovering herself and finding her happily ever after. Jack is that happily ever after, and he’s a billionaire who owns hotels, clubs, etc. all over the world but he has a big heart who wants nothing more than to see those he loves be happy. Millie and Jack first meet in Ibiza 6 years prior where they have a “one-day” stand, it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, Millie has to fly back and she meets Glen who was not at all who she thought he was and he abused her in horrible ways (for money) until she packs up and leaves him.
Millie adjust really well to her new location and we see how she meets so many people along the way who love her. Despite the anxiety and fear Millie was left with after her relationship with Glen, she is determined to move forward and be happy and successful.
There’s a lot (A LOT) of spicy scenes.
There’s a major event in the book that has multiple povs of that same event, and personally for me, that was a bit dragged on but the event itself had me on the edge of my seat!
The ending is amazing and her psycho ex has a very satisfying ending (I hated him so bad) which I was so glad for.
There’s several typos and grammatical errors in the book but other than that it’s a really good read and I highly recommend!

This book had a lot of potential and I was very excited to be selected as an ARC reader for this. However, I had quite a few issues with it that are listed below.
TLDR: this book needed to go through significant editing and was too long for what it is. I was struggling to get through it / having the desire to read it.
Positives:
- Characters are likeable
- Happy ending
- Good story line / plot
Negatives:
- No trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. This is really important for some readers. Especially in this case as abuse is graphically described and not closed door.
- Time jumps are confusing, not well placed, or labeled
- Sentence structure is lengthy and has significant over use of exclamation points in character dialogue.
- Unnecessarily long paragraphs.
- The 'voice' of the characters is odd. FMC reads like diary entries and MMC reads like a standard first person narrative
- The additional POV's from the two side characters were unnecessary and oddly placed. At the end of the book these POV's added more confusion instead of insight. It was very repetitive reading the same event four times.
- Overall the behavior of the FMC didn't make sense for someone w/ a history of SA / DV
- I understand that this is a debut novel but it reads like a rough draft

This is a contemporary romance novel about Millie, whose past is filled with love and pain. She dreams of stolen moments with a man who changed her life six years ago. Fed up with her unbearable life, she takes a leap into the unknown. But destiny has its own plans, throwing her into a journey of passion, conflicts, and surprises.
I loved the book, it got me hooked from the beginning and all I wanted to do was get to know the characters more. And I loved all of them, especially of course - Jack and Millie along with Em and Dan as well as caring Mike. I loved the relationship between Jack and Millie and how Jack waited and how they formed an emotional bond.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED JACK, he’s my new favourite billionaire more so as he’s not the typical arrogant billionaire. And I understood why Millie was so reluctant based on her past. I liked how the book showed the reality of toxic relationships and how difficult it can be to get out of them as well as move on. I did like the multiple POVs, just sometimes it was a bit abrupt and like TMI?
Overall, pretty great for a debut novel. Would totally recommend it.

Simply put, this was a he falls first, small town romance, with a dark twist throughout, finishing with a perfectly sweet happy ending.
I love stories with fluffy, humor, and quirky characters, which I Dreamt of You checks all of those boxes. However, if you are a reader looking for something containing heavier topics as well, this would be a good book for you.
I am personally not triggered by certain topics, but if domestic violence is something that you are not comfortable reading, this might not be the book for you. Without giving too much away, the entirety of the book revolves around the main character Millie fleeing from an abusive relationship, and in turn run into a former flame of hers in the new town she hopes will become her new start.
I did enjoy reading this book, but there were just certain parts that I found difficult to get through. Sometimes the descriptive paragraphs ended up being a little too descriptive. I also tend to prefer books with only dual povs, and I think solely have Millie and Jack might have made it a little bit more compelling. I we were able to give half star ratings, it would have earned a 3 1/2 star from me. But since that is not the case, and because of what I mentioned above, I upgraded it to a 4 star.
All of that being said, I really did enjoy the book, and I am looking forward to the eventual sequel!
