The wildest Star Wars Rebels matchups you've ever seen--with the newest and coolest Star Wars characters!
This book of match-ups will compare the combatants's gear stats, weapons, and strategies--inviting the reader to imagine duels that have never happened before. Fans of the movies or the hit animated show Clone Wars will adore this title.
I just went over this with a friend of mine over FaceTime, and let me tell you it is a trip.
The most hilarious part of this book is that it was released in August or September 2014 - which, if the Wikipedia dates for Rebels are correct, means that this came out - listen to me - before Rebels was out. Not counting the shorts - and I quite love them - the show itself first released on October 3, 2014. So... this existed before Rebels did. Which makes the pair-ups even more interesting to read about, knowing that.
If this book had waited until season 2 of Rebels, we could really have some interesting characters in the mix, but alas it does not. And really, having watched the show, some of these pair-ups are quite interesting. Rebels spoilers here:
Not to be taken too seriously, this book is incredibly fun. It's definitely worth the read.
I got this book for my birthday and read it in one sitting. This book gives 26 different scenarios where it will line up 2 different characters or machines and you have to decide which would win, based on the scenario and stats it gives you. While I read this book I had a piece of paper next to me the whole time where I would mark who I thought would win for each duel. It was really fun reading the book in that interactive way. The very last page gives all the suggested answers from Star Wars experts. I ended up getting 21 right out of the 26. I agreed with all of the winners except for three of them, but oh well.
Honestly, the match-ups tended to be more predictable than I would've hoped (and, admittedly, whenever I wasn't sure I went "the participant who has plot armor wins"). The match-up scenarios themselves as well as the trivia about characters and vehicles were fun, though. Not something I'd put on my overflowing IRL shelf but an all right read.
