In the Land of Fake-Believe, Princess Pink meets Scaredy-Pants Wolf--a baker whose bakery has been robbed! Little Red Quacking Hood is stealing pies from the Big Bad Bakery! Princess, Scaredy-Pants, and their friend Moldylocks follow Little Red over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's hair salon. Can they stop Little Red? With easy-to-read text and engaging full-color artwork throughout, kids will be drawn right into Noah Z. Jones's latest fractured fairy tale!
Noah Z. Jones is an author/illustrator/animator who draws all sort of wacky oddities out of his home in Camden, Maine. After taking part in a monster-drawing contest in the fifth-grade (placing fourth out of five) he realized that he wanted to create art for a living.
As a kid, Noah Z. Jones' love for drawing was fueled by dinosaurs, monster movies, and the WACKY PACKAGES line of trading cards. He would spend hours poring over books by Maurice Sendak, Richard Scarry and Mercer Mayer.
His unique art and designs have added to numerous award-winning projects from clients such as Nickelodeon, PBS and Disney. His crazy web developed characters have attracted world-wide recognition and can often be spotted popping up on t-shirts around the globe.
Noah Z. Jones' ability to change styles both digitally on the computer and to more traditional pencil drawings demonstrates an unusual stylistic versatility. His books with Candlewick Press, NOT NORMAN, THE MONSTER IN THE BACKPACK, WELCOME TO THE BED AND BISCUIT, and THOSE SHOES-- each with a different author -- show his ability to approach every story with a fresh eye.
In addition to his work on children's books, Noah Z. Jones divides his time between creative collaborations with commercial clients and developing his own odd collection of characters, ideas and all-around lunacy.
Another fun installment in the Princess Pink saga. This episode involves a big, not-so-bad wolf, and a pie-stealing duck. Enjoyable, rampant silliness for the younger set.
Princess Pink (her name is Princess, not her title) returns to the land of Fake-Believe where she meets a Scaredy-Pants Wolf and some mean ducks among other things. Simple. Straight-forward. Has its moments.
These stories are a lot of fun for beginner readers. We can't wait to find out what new adventures are in store for Princess Pink (who isn't a princess and hates pink!) in the Land of Fake-Believe.
This is a whacky mash-up of fairy-tale and other characters, though an entirely original story filled with absurdity and language play. It is a hybrid mix of easy reader and comic style and chapter book - with both sections of longer text here and there, and voice bubbles in most areas.
I'm sure most children will enjoy the wild pace of this book, broken into short chapters for the ones who are early readers. It lends itself to be read to children, read by beginning chapter book readers - my guess is the average 2nd grader. Or the slightly older child who struggles - or enjoys a book for fun to read fast.
Princess Pink again falls through her refridgerator into the Land of Fake Believe! This time, she meets the Scaredy Wolf and Little Red Quacking Hood, a duck who keeps stealing Scaredy Wolf's pies from his bakery. Why is she stealing pies? And why is the Wolf so afraid?
This is another fun adventure, mixing well-known fairy tails with a mixed up twist and a bit of fun, the second book in this series was a hit!
I came across this book in my school library and was thrilled to find this childhood book I loved as a kid! I even thought about it before entering the library. What are the odds?
This was another great nostalgic read. I like the role switch between the wolf baker and little red quacking hood. The wolf is a "Scardey-pants". Constantly sobbing and is fearful while while little red quacking hood bravely steals his pies without a care.
A twisting of a popular fairy tale to create a wacky adventure into the land of Fake-Believe. The characters are fun and the story line inventive. A good jumping off for taking a popular fairy tale and coming up with good ideas on how you might want to change it into your own wacky tale like Noah Jones has. Hair products, indeed!
Creative twist that managed to keep all the classic fairytale tropes but still make it feel new. Reads very much like one of those "The Adventures of _____" books and not much like a fairytale at all, in fact. By the halfway point I had no idea what was going to happen next and was thoroughly charmed. Cute!
This is a chapter book ideally for early readers (around grade 2-3). A wonky version of Little Red Riding Hood. Absolutely love it! The wolf is scared, story revolves around food and everyone is having a bad hair day - can't go wrong with that. Well written, creative and the illustrations are brilliant.
This is illustrated and written by the same person - some much talent in one human..haha
Little red quacking hood is a really good book. It has a story to it and it mixes up little red riding hood for a duck. Little red quacking hood. Read more about this book and go on a wonderful journey with Princess.
Offbeat, quirky, funny. My 6 year old loved it. The names are funky, the storyline is silly, and it was a great read before bed a few nights. I enjoy that everyone isn’t perfect, popular, or cool. Will buy others in this series.
I would highly recommending reading the first book in this series before reading the second one. I read them out of order because my library didn't have the first one available, and it was a little confusing at times. But still good! I liked the wolf boo-hooing 😂 Very fun plot!
Princess Pink And The Land Of Fake-Believe: Little Red Quaking Hood by Noah Z. Jones is a cute children’s book. Princess Pink travels to the Land of Fake-Believe and meets Scaredy-Pants Wolf, who is a baker. He has a problem, someone is stealing his pies. And the thief is Little Red Quacking Hood. Princess Pink, Scaredy-Pants Wolf and their friend Moldylocks have a mystery to solve. Why are the pies being stolen and how can they stop the stealing?
There is a lot of adventure and mystery in this book. There is also a lot of silliness and make- believe, which all children enjoy. The words are age appropriate and are words that children will understand. The illustrations were detailed and went along with the story very well.
My granddaughter just turned five and she really liked this book. She was laughing at parts of the story and was pointing out different pictures that she really liked. I feel this book is a good fit for parents who enjoy reading to their children as well as children that have just learned to read. This book would make a great addition to any family library or a school library.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank Netgalley and Scholastic Inc. for the opportunity to read this great children’s book.
