Biology’s a bitch, and I’m the punchline. I spent the first eighteen years of my life thinking I was a beta. But when my omega designation hit, my uncle had already sold me to a cult of alpha worshiping psychos. When their leader decides to claim me as his fifth wife, I realize I’m never getting out.
Until my saviors appear in the form of an FBI pack that raids the compound and saves me.
Crew, Rhett, Kellan, and Jude aren’t what I expected, but they might be exactly what I need to survive the new world I’m thrown into. Omega rights are being decimated by new laws at every turn, and when you’re a trophy for the highest bidder, there’s no such thing as playing fair.
But the one thing I am sure of? Pack Dutton is playing for keeps, and I’m the prize.
Pack Part 1 is a dark, why choose omegaverse novel, meaning the FMC ends up with multiple loves. It contains dark themes (including abuse, violence, and language) that may be upsetting to some readers, so please read responsibly. There are spicy scenes containing MMFMM with both MF and MM relationships.
If you're looking for a very intense damsel in distress then look no further. This will check all of your boxes, including some boxes you didn't even know you had.
Hazel is the ultimate damsel in distress. She begins in some pretty horrific situations but then gets saved by the super steamy alphas (and beta) who make up Pack Dutton. They're just 🤌🤌🤌. Imagine the best hero for a story like this, multiply it by four, and add bucket fulls of spice, and you get the boys.
It's got twists, turns, some really intense and dark moments, humor, spice, did I say spice?, and an ending that will leave you feeling personally victimized because this is a part one after all.
Pack Dutton: Part 1 is a gorgeously written debut, Ms. Cain crafting a character-driven story that is packed with action, visceral emotions, and a heart-racing romance. Hazel is a beautiful patchwork of strengths and vulnerabilities, courageously facing the harrowing hand life has dealt her while also braving four new emotional connections with her fated mates. Crew, Rhett, Kellan, and Jude each stand on their own, yet together also create an intimate pack bond. The romance between our heroes and Hazel is as swoon-worthy as it is sweet; electric tension, tenderness, and unrelenting need and searing passion all wrapped up in a story not soon forgotten.
"You’re everything we’ve waited for and nothing we could’ve ever expected.”
Overall, Pack Dutton is an outstanding omegaverse romance, easily captivating us with its flawless writing and charming characters, and leaving us with bated breath for the conclusion of Hazel’s story. Highly recommended for longtime fans of Hannah McBride or newcomers to her work through Megan Cain!

Still getting into omegaverse but this was a really great read! I loved Hazel so much and felt so hard for her my tiny bb girl. Crew, Rhett, Kellan, and Jude were 🥵 each one of them held their own and weren’t overshadowed by each other which can sometimes happen in a why choose/omegaverse. Their need to protect Hazel and love her unconditionally had me sweating and melting. The plot was so good and had me unable to put it down.
Hannah McBride, like most authors don’t understand how this self obsession of having women babble to themselves in their first person voice is so off putting. Here we had a Gem of a potential story and yet its continual repeat of concepts and thoughts is crazy over kill… this just made skip pages through every darn chapter.
The “overkill” on darkness and less bullying, had me miss my morally grey anti heroes.
I know many might disagree with me here however they were saturated with graphic dark concepts that don’t make this story feel authentic. There’s OMV stories out here that’s far superior in my opinion and this miss that mark by miles. I didn’t bother to finish after 70% mark. I’m not interested in a docile maiden who somehow very obedient with her captors and badass with her heroes. Can anybody say oxymoron much?!?! Indeed. Even the smutt was lacking. Plot became funked up too. I can’t. I might as well go read Lyx Robinsons Viking Siege Omegaverse series again. Now that was a spectacular display of writing, characters & plot. This book however will fall in the unforgettable category for me.
This is my first book by Miss Megan Cain, and I am sure it won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book. It is a dark omegaverse that in the first 20% of the book is the true dark parts, but the rest of the book is Pack Dutton trying to care for their omega which brings such hope and happiness. I am taking a ⭐️ for Hazel's whining, though. Now, I know I just said the first 20% is dark... and it's how Hazel is treated by the cult and cult leader that she's stuck with - so the girl IS dealing with some serious trauma. Things i certainly have never had to deal with, but she spends the rest of the book after being rescued complaining about being an omega, not wanting to be an omega, being a broken omega, wishing she could just go live her life, wishing she had a Pack that would love her... while the whole time all the guys are like: "we want a strong omega making her decisions. We are keeping you, we love you. You aren't broken." Until it finally clicks, and she's like: "I'm not broken, and I want you guys!" Bit of whiplash, but I'm not going to argue - she finally accepted them! Yay!! Again, she had some trauma, so I really shouldn't fault her... but I just wanted her happy with the guys, and her constant negative talk got a bit much! A bit about the book: Hazel's parents die right before she turns 18. Her uncle gets legal guardianship of his BETA niece and takes her to a cult - Alpha Protection Alliance. Where she ends up changing designations and emerges as an omega. The High Alpha, Donovan, claims her as his 5th wife and waits for about 4 years for her heat to hit to officially claim her. So, life is about to get real rough for Hazel when her heat finally hits!! Well, thankfully Pack Dutton has an undercover beta, Jude, who tells his pack to get moving and rescue this sweet omega before more terrible things happen. Sexy FBI Alphas break up the commune, and Hazel gets rescued. And what a small world, one Alpha knows her from the years before she was taken by her uncle! So, Alpha Crew claims she's Duttons omega to save her from the Omega Services - ya know, the government department that tells omegas what they can or can't do - and who they should or shouldn't have a pack with. So, Pack Dutton takes Hazel and tries to put her back together and love her for who she really is. Knots, nest, growly alphas, all the good stuff. And of course, this book ends on a cliffhanger... so, heads up there. Ugh!! Now I need to wait to find out what happens! Because through the whole book, they are trying to keep Omega Services from taking Hazel away from Pack Dutton!! So, does it end with her being taken by Omega Services!? ...maybe... maybe not. You'll have to read to find out. It was a good read, and I would definitely recommend it. I also hope that we will get a story for sweet Logan, HE NEEDS a happily ever after! He was a male omega trapped at APA with Hazel, and he was not treated well, at all. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to find out more about his journey! I'm sure Calla (Hezel's childhood friend) will find a Pack and I would, of course, read that, but Logan... he NEEDS a happy ending!! Book 2 can't come soon enough!
dnf @49%. Honestly I can’t exactly put my finger on what’s bothering me the most. Partially my annoyance with the whole „man says something nice“ = „woman completely misinterprets“ thing. also the fact that I feel like not much has happened despite being halway through the book. This book just really wasn‘t working for me.
This started off quite good and the first half of the book definitely offered quite a rollercoaster of emotions as it portrays the FMCs time under captivity, the ruthless attitude of the cult and of course, some rather heartbreaking moments where another omega is assaulted as a mean to control the main heroine. The physical abuse and psychological manipulation are despicable. In this alternate universe, it appears that omegas rights are slowly, but gradually being stripped off, so it would be interesting to see how the political aspects play out. As the FMC is finally rescued, she finds herself among Pack Dutton. Now, I did like the fact that Crew was someone she knew from her childhood and being reunited with Calla, her best friend was a sweet moment. The other MMCs seem nice and overly protective. What really bugged me here was the lack of information about Logan, the omega who has been repeatedly abused. It seemed like our main heroine is very protectively of him and then all of a sudden, the pack informs her that he is taken by the OS and that was that. Besides that, the plot itself is engaging and the premise of the book has quite the potential. Although there were some repetitive parts, those could be overlooked as long as there is more character development and of course, I hope that more light would be shred as to the entire idea behind the APO as it seems like the political plays here are rather complex. I am curious to see how this plays out, hopefully more would be revealed in the second part of the duet.
So this is my first omegaverse ever and I figured if I was going to try to read this type of trope then Megan Cain (aka Hannah McBride) is my best choice to do so! I’ll start off by saying that it was a great help to have an explanation of Omegaverse in the beginning as an intro and the specifics that the author was going to use. Also, trigger warnings for this book because there are definitely some darker themes. So the story follows Hazel, Jude, Crew, Rhett, and Kellan. Hazel was taken at 17 after losing her parents to live with her uncle who basically sold her to a cult. She has spent the last four years being abused and learning that she is not a beta like she thought but an omega. And omegas there are treated like property and basically sex slaves. Hazel’s days of numbered when she finally goes into heat and will be claimed by the sadistic leader. But enter, Jude, Crew, Rhett, and Kellan. Jude is a beta sent undercover to the cult to look for terrorists weapons but finds Hazel and another omega (a male) instead. And when things take a horrible turn, he knows he needs to call in his team to get them all out. Crew, Rhett, and Kellan are alphas and with Jude are one pack. They go in together to rescue Hazel and get Jude out of there. Resulting in a lot of chaos and discovering that Hazel is essentially their mate. They all belong together. But convincing Hazel that after so much abuse will be a challenge. And omega rights has changed drastically over the years. Plus there are some other things going on that makes everything a bit more sketchy. They’ll have to fight for one another to remain a family. Overall, I found the concept intriguing and I’m curious to learn more in the next book. I also did love all our main characters and their dynamics. They all balanced one another so well and really do belong together. Of course with this book being a part 1, we get a pretty big cliffhanger but I’m definitely looking forward to book 2 and more from this world! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Holy crap this one is a wild ride of emotions! This one is pretty dark with rape, kidnapping, and other sexual assault. If this is your first intro to omegaverse probably skip it and come back. I am hooked I cannot wait until part 2 comes out because the cliffhanger is top notch. This is definitely not a standalone or a happily ever after for now, hopefully we get that in the part 2. In love with Hazel, Crew, Kellan, Rhett, and Jude!
I did receive this as an ARC, however all opinions expressed are my own.
Doing my usual thing of writing my thoughts as I go. So far it's pretty good, characters seem interesting, situation is horrific but I'm looking forward to some catharsis when this pos cult gets it's comeuppance.
It's quite repetitive, I suspect because author doesn't quite trust the reader to take in facts the first two times. We've been informed about her parents dying etc over and over.
I also really do not like the strong emphasis the MMCs are putting on rescuing the adult omega who hasn't yet been married or raped, rather than the multiple 14yo betas who have been both. I know it sucks for everyone and everyone is getting rescued now but where was the strike force to save the kids from being married off? Suddenly the single ADULT (can't emphasize that enough) female omega (read, the fuckable one, they didn’t give a singke shit about the male omega being repeatedly raped either) is in danger and it's all code red. Maybe this will get addressed later on but I don't have a lot of faith right now.
A bit further now and this all kind of feels 'by the book' without much heart. When the FMC started sobbing about how she's weak and needy and they all growled and told her she's strong... I mean... they don't even know her? There's no punch to the words if they don't. Plus there's nothing wrong with being weak or needy anyway, she was just held for 4 years by a cult ffs and theyre acting entitled to her every passing thought because 'we don't lie'. OK? The traumatized girl hasn't agreed to be in your pack yet arsehole. I'd be freaking out and trying to escape the second cult by now.
Yeah they just keep getting worse. Seriously let the traumatized person have private thoughts. Let her freaking breathe for five seconds without bludgeoning her into fitting your neat little omega box. I should have realized this would be toxic when the author framed the guy upset they left their family member in surgery to chase tail as unreasonable. Or when the lead alpha compared his love for his younger brothers as matches compared with an inferno for his pack. Or when they made only meatlovers and "plain" pizzas. WTF is a "plain" pizza? Is it just bread?? Was this written by AI?
I dunno, it just feels like someone is following an omegaverse manual without really understanding what makes them satisfying.

I was so lucky to receive an ARC of Pack Dutton Part 1 and wow! It was my first real foray into the omegaverse and it was quite the wild ride! Now I will say definitely check the TWs for this book because it definitely has some dark parts. The beginning time where Hazel is captive and a forced member of the APA cult is ROUGH. But Hazel is one formidable woman and Logan is such a sweet soul, plus then there’s Morris, well—I will let you decide about him! But, our boys come on and I just love the mix of the Dutton Pack MMCs! Crew is the perfect alpha leader, sexy, commanding, forthright, and decisive. Then we have Kellen the raunchy joker with tats and a killer protective streak. Also, there’s our British bombshell with the brains to boot, Rhett, and our lovely Jude who is the balance of them all and just the best! Plus, I SUPER enjoy that it’s not just about the boys and Hazel, but that they all have relationships with each other and/or are comfortable on that area, especially Rhett and Jude. I love their love and I looooove Rhett’s domineering side that I think we have only seen a sliver of. While Hazel has a whirlwind of emotions and recovery, both from the time being held against her will and from the beta to omega switch without the proper knowledge, the pack’s bond with her and care of her is just so sweet. But, boy, the politics of the “real world” sure are brutal and things ramp up to quite the cliffhanger ending, DARN IT! I need more. I need to know what happens. And yes, I do need more steamy scenes too because, yowza! For someone who wasn’t as familiar with the omegaverse outside of a shifter skewed similar vibe, I think Hazel’s lack of “training” is really helpful to learn and lean into this new world! Definitely recommend!
I devoured this book and need not want, absolutely bone crushing NEED more. My poor emotions feel battered and bruised in the best way
The world building is phenomenal, I was sucked in I understood and I could picture everything clearly.
The story in itself is off the charts gripping me and not letting me go, the book hangover is real.
The characters are so well thought out, delicious, strong, and their development is something I cannot describe. Plus the MMC alpha's oh boy they are droolworthy, protective, strong and delicious. The FMC is strong, independent, relatable and so inspiring. The spice is inserted at the right point with fireworks which flew off the page and caught fire. Plus the cliff hanger... oh the cliff hanger, let's just not discuss that white knuckling ride...I do not have words...yup there's more words I'm sure I just cannot think of them to describe my thoughts and feelings for this book and that cliff hanger...is it time for book 2 yet?
I will however say please heed those trigger warnings, they are there for a reason
Such an absolutely bloomin phenomenal book, I will need this book in every format (and signed), my heart has not stopped pounding and I cannot wait for more!!
This story grabbed me from the very first page and did not let go until I had finished it. The real world attempted to rudely interrupt me but I ignored it. There was no putting it down until I got to the end. I absolutely adored Hazel from the get go. She has such an amazing strength that even when she feels that she is weak, she is still strong enough to protect those that need it. Her mental strength and compassion blew me away. Watching her growth and her coming out from behind her protective walls once she begins to realize that she is truly safe made for such a beautiful, heart yanking read. Crew, Kellan, Rhett, and Jude are the perfect alphas and beta. They are protective, possessive, and best of all able to make her see that she is their priority. Their spice levels are so incredibly hot I thought I combusted at one point. I was entranced with this story for every single moment I spent with this pack. And that ending? Woooo…it’s a doozy! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
I have never been a big fan of omegaverse, or let me say I haven’t found the right book to make me actually like the genre. But when one of my favorite authors (Hannah McBride) announced she had a new pen name (Megan Cain) and she was going to release this book, I knew if anyone could write an omegaverse that would be amazing it would be her!!! And I was right, as soon as I picked this book up I couldn’t put it down.
This book is labeled as a DARK Omegaverse, so if you have any triggers definitely check the warnings.
If you like omegaverse, dark themes, cults, multiple POV’s, why-choose, men in the FBI, and corrupt government systems
Hazel, the FMC who is an Omega who absolutely hates she is one was likable from the beginning. My heart hurt for her for everything she had been through. The first bit of the book was rough to get through. She has a backbone so she doesn’t just lay down and take it. Her men are all amazing. I won’t give any spoilers but READ IT. I can’t wait for book 2
This book was freaking phenomenal! I loved every aspect of the character development. The utter love pack Dutton showed Hazel. Helping her cope and helping her fight her intrusive thoughts. Crew revealing his childhood crush was such a perfect moment! Kell being open and vulnerable was a great addition. Them helping Hazel build her trust and confidence. Helping her with showing her that they wanted her as their omega! This book has some dark themes so please heed those trigger warnings. That cliffhanger will have you screeching because they need to hurry and get my girl back. I know my girl Hazel can be strong and withstand it and come out stronger than ever! Omega services and the Apa cult can kick rocks. They’ll get what’s coming to them tenfold! I can’t wait for part two!
I really enjoyed this book so much I cannot wait for the next one. Definitely check the trigger warning at the beginning of the book. Keep your peace when it comes to consuming fiction. I loved that each character was very distinctive I have found with why choose/omegaverse that characters can blend together this one I did not find at all I feel I got time know each character and fall in love with them.
First time reading this author and I was not expecting this to be as dark and twisted as it was. Told from all POV, it was fast paced, set in a pretty screwed up world of alpha and omegas. At times, my heart hurt for omegas and anyone who opposes the new laws...definitely brought out a lot of feelings for the characters. Can’t wait to read the second book.
This book had me in a chokehold from the first page. It’s dark from chapter one, absolutely check your triggers. If you are good with the triggers, you won’t regret picking up this book.
Our FMC is Hazel who is a beta suddenly turned omega while she was in the hands of a cult. Her life has been a nightmare for four years until she is rescued.
But that’s not the happy ending we assume it will be, because life has gotten hard for omegas while she’s been locked away and the government isn’t much better or different than the cult.
This book had me all in my feels from the beginning and all I wanted was the happy ending Hazel deserves. Megan Cain wants to torture us though, so this is only book one and it won’t give us that. 😂
What we do get? Sweet moments with a pack that knows Hazel is theirs, and they will do anything to help her heal and keep her.
Oh we also get some super sexy spicy scenes. Nothing super kinky, but still delicious.
I actually really enjoyed this book! I read some controversial reviews but I found it was really well rounded and had a good plot. The end it’s cliff hanger and I can believe I have to wait 4 months for book 2. Solid omegaverse!
halfway through the book and not much has happened. super repetitive and tedious.
also, the political setting and plot is so incredibly depressing. the heroine went through hell for the first 20%, and i was ready for her to be in a better place and to get spoiled and be happy. only, she immediately finds out that while she's been held captive, omegas have basically lost all their rights and are now treated as glorified cattle.
the heroine's options are 1) choose to be with the heroes or 2) let an omega service sell her to a pack that will almost definitely not care about her at all and might even be abusive or only want her for her money.
the heroine basically has NO choice but to be with the heroes. im not a fan of that. i want the heroine to have real options and then i want the heroes to woo her and be so good to her that she CHOOSES to be with them of her own free will, not because she has to but because she's happier with them than with anyone else. but nope.
so this is basically just a book where the heroine was tortured and threatened with rape every day for four years, and finally gets away, only to find out the world is shit, and she has no say in her future. no thanks.

Absolutely EVERYTHING I love about omegaverse. Strong heroine and men that worship at her feet. Their strength and yet softness with her are what I crave most from Omegaverse.
This story is absolutely gut wrenching and wonderful. The characters, the story, everything is perfect. Can’t recommend this enough!
This is the first book I've read by either of these authors but it certainly won't be the last. So we'll written, with amazing characters and back stories, it was a pleasure to read. By the last few chapters I was ready to pull my hair out, anticipating the ending but praying I was wrong....and of course I wasn't! It was a brilliant read and I'm so eager for book two.
I have never read an omegaverse before and I think it might just be my newest obsession. It was dark and it was hot 🫢😉 Newest guilty pleasure. Thank you Megan (HMcB) for introducing me to the omegaverse. I can’t wait for part 2!
I won’t say too much to not spoil it, but this is a duet and it does end on a brutal cliffy! This book contains very heavy topics (some on page) so please be aware of TW’s.
But HOLY MOON GODDESS!!! I absolutely devoured this book! One of those that’ll leave you reminiscing about it long after you’ve read it and I am thirsting for more! I’ll be very impatiently counting down for the 2nd half.
If you love a strong FMC, heroine in danger, romantic suspense, sharing is caring (with MM), hilarious and tough Alpha MMC’s, and a truly unique story that’ll leave you feeling - go read this!
I 100% do not think there is any reason for graphic depictions of rape in books. And I feel like it is lazy writing as the feelings and actions can be written about without vivid descriptions of the things happening. This book starts out with like a good 8-10 chapters of Hazel’s abuse and it took a lot for me to get past it. It was hard to get into because it was so heavy so fast. With that said I enjoyed the rest of the book even though it all seems kind of hopeless . . . I’m excited about book 2 but not looking forward to a similar opening.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this book, my jaw is on the floor from that cliff and I cannot wait for book 2 to come out!! Megan Cain has 1000% made a fan out of me, she pulled me in from the very beginning and kept me wanting more the whole way through!
