A young witch takes on burning new passions, simmering ancient grudges, and timeless magical mayhem in the last book of this delightful romantasy trilogy.
Lady Katarina Ashowan is used to getting into trouble, but her latest muddle takes the cake. A moment's weakness in her attraction to Eric Reyes, crown prince of Daxaria, has landed her in an unexpected marriage with the man . . . just as her father, Lord Finlay Ashowan, arrives in Troivack to check on his headstrong daughter. As if figuring out how to acclimate her father to her scandalous elopement isn't bad enough, there are rumors of dangerous magical plots afoot at court—with Kat seemingly at the center of them all.
For one thing, the devil is still prowling around, with dubious intentions as to Kat's powers. For another, an underground network of wrongdoers has been spreading a mysterious and addictive drug throughout both Troivack and Daxaria. And perhaps most concerning, a villainess is hiding in plain sight somewhere close to Kat and her best friend, Queen Alina, hoping to use them to strike at the devil. Now it's up to Kat—with the help of her kitten familiar, Pina, as well as her friends and family—to untangle the twisted web of courtly and magical intrigue before her hurried honeymoon is cut short by deadly disaster . . .
A pitch-perfect blend of humor, romance, fantasy, and mystery, The Burning Witch 3 is the brilliant and heart-pounding conclusion to the enchanting House Witch spin-off series.
Delemhach is the Canadian author of the popular online series, The House Witch, and is already hard at work on the sequel series, The Burning Witch. When they aren’t following the whims of their unfortunately intelligent cats, Kraken and Pina Colada, they are teaching music privately to their students. In their spare time outside of writing and work, they enjoy cooking, reading, hiking, spending time with family, and trying not to remember their socially awkward moments.
It was just a lot of fun to immerse myself in the world of the House Witch again. I just finished The Burning Witch 3 and like the previous 5 books in this world, it was a delight. This was the 3rd book of The Burning Witch series. It propelled us into Katrina Ashowan's world serving the King and Queen of their previous rival country Trovachia. Known for getting herself and those around her into all sorts of problems, Katarina continues this behavior while helping uncover traitors and threats to the throne. Also, along the way, manages to fall in love with the wayward son of the King of Daxaria. She proves her courage, her ability to adapt, and her vast talents as a witch. Once again, Delemhach proves her worth as a writer with another page turning adventure story that was humorous, exciting, and tear-jerking, as well. I was pleased to find out that Delemhach plans to continue the stories of this fascinating world and its fascinating people.
I loved these books and wish there would be more to them just like the house witch trilogy. However I am excited for the next set of adventures with the 2nd child of the house witch.
In this book we follow Kat and the shenanigans that she gets up to with the war looming in. There is a lot that happens in this bookbto make it very action packed. However there is one scene that is absolutely heart breaking with a miscarriage involved. I love how the familiars have there own involvements throughout the story and we even meet a new familiar that is absolutely adorable in my opinion.
I NEED MORE NOW!!! I have questions and theories that need answers.
Ok, rant over. This book/series is amazing. I believe I said it in one of my previous reviews, but typically, I don't like continuation of series or the kid troupe, but this does it all so well. The mix of old and new characters, even with such a big time gap, is amazing.
This book, in particular, is just stunning. I was at the edge of my seat, wanting more. Coming up with outrageous theories, trying to guess what would happen next. Where some I got right, most I was pleasantly surprised about. Delemhach knows how to make fun, avenderous, and even hilarious books. Can't wait to see where the next series takes us!
This book felt very anticlimactic to me. The beginning was very well written but not attention grabbing and the rest of the book had a lot of plot holes or under answered questions. I don't know if it just went over my head or what. I did still love returning to this cozy world that I have loved since Fin brought his old broom to his new home in the castle but this just lacked something for me.
Okay so usually these books are my favourite thing in the world but the plot in this one wasn't doing it for me. I found it a little boring tbh and just wanted more of the comedic, cute, cosy character interactions that make these books so magical and comforting. Still love the world, but this particular story has been my least favourite by a long way.
Whoo-hoo! Happy, happy end. Kat grew on me, but I am glad to be done with her little trilogy, some of her personality was a bit hard to swallow but I did really like her in this one. Eric was great. Being was the family was great. I didn't care for the villain or really pay attention to that aspect of it but I'm glad things were solved.
I definitely liked Tam better in Potential Princess so I am very happy that his books are next.
I love all these characters so much! These books only got better. I will say there are parts of this book that broke me. But overall can’t wait to read more in this world
I am relieved to have finally finished this book. This last installation of the miniseries of the Burning Witch was incredibly difficult to get through and very boring. The first 60% of the book did not progress the storyline at all whatsoever, and I felt as though the entire plot line Had nothing interesting going on. I just wanted to finish this book by the end of it because I was so over the characters and the plot. This was neither a romance nor a comedy, which was my complaint about the first Burning Witch. Anyway, there was a point around the 60% mark where the book became more interesting for a few chapters, but then went back to being as slow as it was in the beginning. Needless to say, I will not be enjoying any other of this authors works. I’m a bit disappointed since I did enjoy the second book in this series, but onto other things.
3.5 I really enjoyed the House Witch novels. I have to say I was disappointed in this final one. I felt like the author wanted to throw everything into this last one that she’d been thinking about during the course of the whole series. There was an awful lot going on, an awful lot of minor characters who would float in and float out. Although it was sad to say goodbye to this House Witch family, I was glad to have finished this particular book.
I fell in love with The House Witch series and have continued…..until now. The obvious lack of editing and proofreading has finally worn me out. I can’t finish this one and won’t bother with any future installments. Multiple redundancies, spelling errors, and multitudes of errors in simple grammar (“they’re” rather than “their”?) seem never-ending. These books deserve more than a self-publishing platform. I implore the author and Podium Publishing to put a skilled editor to work on these.
I have really enjoyed all of the books in this series, but I had such of a hard time getting into this one. It was still good, but I was a little bored and had to make myself continue to read it. I am looking forward to the future books & especially for Tamlin’s story. Hopefully the future books will grab my attention a bit more!
I’d give it 3.5⭐️. It was just ok. I think a lot of the book seemed to drag and I feel like most of it could’ve been left out. It got good towards the end, but otherwise I was very bored for most of it. The brief storylines with Pina were my fav😻
I LOVED IT! I’m emotional and crying, I am smiling, I am laughing. This series (and the other books) just has it all. There is just so much heart and warmth. It’s f-ing cozy, okay!! In addition it is also pretty funny. I love the humor. And how can I not love Pina. Her cuteness brings the toughest men to their knees and I am right there beside them! Kat and Eric’s development throughout this is also *chef’s kiss*. I cannot recommend these books enough and I can’t wait to start the next series.
I don’t know where to start. I didn’t think the series could get any better but then it outdid itself. From start to finish it is packed with excitement. There are so many twists, turns, changing of allegiances, ups, downs, and nail biting moments. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, happy, worried, etc. there is so mush attention to details. I love all the characters and the many evolving plots. I do hope there is more to come.
I need this series and all related series in book form so I can reread them forever and ever. Wow such a comfort, such a great story line with great characters. Feels like a cup of a tea when you’re wrapped in your favorite blanket next to a fire when it’s snowing outside.
Took me awhile to get through this one. I don’t know if it’s cause I was just drained from this particular storyline or if I found all the books more interesting. It’s fine, not as good as the others. I didn’t really care about the whole devil first witch thing was kinda meh. I love all the character still though and the world building.
Is there a book Delemhach can't successfully write!?
This series was so good!! It intertwined itself beautifully into The House Witch series, but also made way for more to come! Oh I can't wait for more to come out!!!
With the original House Witch series I felt like the first book was the best and then the others were all good but didn’t quite level up the the first. For this series I do think they all got gradually better and this was the best in the series. I need some fan art of Reggie the raccoon.
I’m just obsessed with this world. 12/10. If you haven’t read The House Witch trilogy, do it. Then read The Princess of Potential. Then come and read this trilogy. I love all of these characters so much.
If you have not read this series then you are missing out. It has got to be my favorite non SJM fantasy series. The writing is funny, beautiful and clever.
I love this series, but didn't like this book that much. I got so confused towards the end of the book and felt like everything was rushed. But am excited to continue to the next series
