Threaded Secrets

Rate this book
In an enchanted realm ruled by the immortal King Minos, a chilling tradition unfolds every seven the Collection. Seven young women are selected to confront the mysterious Beast at the heart of the Labyrinth, a fate from which none have ever returned.

Thalia, heir to her island’s throne, should have been eligible, but politics kept her safe. When faced with the imminent selection of her best friend’s lover, Thalia volunteers. She plans to stop the Collection, defeat the Beast and the King wielding it, and prove her worthiness as a future ruler. As she navigates the twisting corridors of the Labyrinth, secrets guarded by King Minos begin to unravel, and Thalia discovers that the Collection is merely the tip of an ancient conspiracy.

Armed with an unconventional set of weapons—lackluster social skills, an impressive vocabulary, and a whispered prayer to the Gods—Thalia races to uncover the mystery before the Beast can kill her. But her choices may carry consequences that extend beyond the Labyrinth, altering the destiny of the realm and putting her own future at stake.

THREADED SECRETS, a new adult fantasy genderbent and twisted retelling of Theseus and the minotaur full of mystery, intrigue, and a dollop of romance.

3/5 stars- it sort of reminds me of hunger games but Percy jackson ish

So honestly henning first started it was a tad confusing (specially if your not right into Greek mythology) the characters were a bit hard to follow (as there are many)  but eventually I got the hang of who was related to who and who was on whose side. Sort of.

The characters were actually very realistic for what the author was going for, and the characters were loveable, and some where also hate able which you need in every good book.

I did find the books slow as it did a lot of world and history building; it was also very much about finding clues and figuring things out rather than action; so a lot of the action didn't come in till the last 20% of the book.

All of this being said; this was a really good and solid book: I truly enjoyed the main character, and the other side characters in the book including the ones I think your suppose to hate or maybe find annoying.

If you are a Greek mythology type of person you will for sure want to read this book when it's available.

I look forward to reading the second in this series and more from this author in General.

This was a fantastic read! As a huge fan of anything to do with greek myths I found this novel fresh and fascinating. I must say, this is not the book for you if you’re a purist when it comes to myth, as it takes a variety of things from the source material but completely changes many others. The result is almost like a new mythology with some familiar features that you get to discover as you read.
Probably my favorite part of this story is how brilliantly written the mystery and puzzle at the center of it is. Every clue and misdirection fits perfectly within the story and every time I was sure I had the right answer, Thalia’s own doubts made me rethink this. Speaking of which, I found all the characters interesting (they are all really well fleshed out, especially the girls, who I ADORE) but Thalia is undoubtedly my favorite. She is smart without being annoying about it, deeply flawed in her intellectual arrogance but willing to learn and change her prejudiced views. Her insecurities about her looks and abilities really resonated with me and all in all I found her to be incredibly human.
I can’t wait for the sequel of this story and will be eagerly reading as soon as it comes out!

This was great retelling of the Greek tale of King Minos and the Minotaur. The story follows a group of girls who have been “collected” to fight the Beast and slay him. However one of the girls has decided to try and end the practice of having young women collected to try and fight the Beast.

What follows is a highly entertaining story featuring Gods and monsters from Greek mythology, subterfuge, a slow burn romance and just overall great storytelling.

I really enjoyed this book, found it super fun and engaging and I cannot wait for book two to come out so I can see what happens next!

Are you ready for me to make this book my entire personality?! Great! Let’s begin!

I don’t think I can adequately describe how much I loved Threaded Secrets. I’m a Greek mythology lover at heart, but this book was just so much better than even I was expecting (and I already expected it to be great). It was such a fun read for me, and I absolutely devoured it. I didn’t want to stop reading and only did when I HAD to.

I loved the characters so much, particularly Thalia (our FMC whose POV this book is in) and our MMC, though I don’t want to give too much away about him. All you need to know is that I love and cherish him and he deserves the world.

My only gripe with this book is that I read it as an ARC, which means that I not only have to wait for Threaded Secrets itself to officially release, but I also have to wait even longer for book two. I saw there will be prequel chapters released for each of the Collected, so I will absolutely be diving into those as soon as possible. I cannot wait to see where this story takes us in book two though!

Thank you so much to K. Malady for the ARC of Threaded Secrets. I’m very grateful to have been able to read it early and can’t wait to add a physical copy to my already overflowing Greek mythology shelves. All opinions are, as usual, my own.

As soon as I saw King Minos and the Labyrinth in the description, I knew I had to read it! So thank you for the ARC! Not many books are written focusing in this era. In general, I am rather sceptical of retellings when actual history is concerned, however, this was a really nice approach. The manner with which it links mythological and historical features with the story is quite nice. I like the beauty and the beast vibe it brings to the plot. There were a few descriptions of the palace that do not match the actual setting, but this does not affect the plot. The pace was just right and it did keep me drawn into the plot. I am certainly looking forward to the second instalment!!

Enjoyable read. Couple of surprises along the way that I wasn’t expecting. Took me a few chapters to get into the book but overall a fun read.

Can’t resist a Greek myth! Not a lot of suspense in regards to who Orion was but still an enjoyable read.
